They had done it. The three Starlights had traversed millions of light years from their home planet to the little world of blue and green that had each one of them mesmerized: albeit for entirely different reasons. And even though they were now on the same planet, in the same city even, Seiya felt no closer to the beautiful blonde than he had on Kinmokusei. It was strange, though. He felt a lot more comfortable moving about in his male form, a practice he never engaged in back home. He hadn’t expected that. It seemed like Taiki felt the same way; though the tall brunet would never admit to something like that. Poor Yaten, though; he had never gotten used to dressing and acting as a man, and Seiya knew that he would prefer not to don what was still a ‘disguise’ for him. He had a feeling that Healer would be making an appearance in the near future. She would probably be in residence any time they were alone in their apartment at any rate.
The one thing that the proximity to the Moon Princess did make him feel was anxious. Should he send tickets to one of their shows to her? Would she accept them? Would she come? Perhaps it would be better to see her alone first. How could he accomplish that? What would he say to her? What would she say? Thousands of questions and worries were parading through his head banging around inside his skull until he feared the cacophony of his thoughts would make him physically ill. And his companions certainly weren’t helping things on that score, either.
Taiki was withdrawn and sullen, refusing to be drawn into making plans of any sort. He locked himself away in their little studio for hours, practicing on his piano, singing the saddest songs that Seiya had ever heard. Whoever the quiet man was brooding for, he had it bad for her.
Yaten wasn’t much better; though his unhelpfulness stemmed from manic enthusiasm and impatience to reacquaint himself with their friends. He didn’t really care to form a plan; he simply wanted to use Kakyuu’s information on the location of the Moon Princess’ apartment and just go to see her. She had given them hope, had encouraged and protected and sheltered them when they were at their lowest point, and the green-eyed Star would always have a soft spot for the bubbly, obnoxious blonde.
So it was left up to Seiya to ponder the ideal approach to their long-awaited reunion. In the end he decided that while concert tickets certainly wouldn’t go amiss, it would most likely be impossible for him to perform if he were distracted by the presence or absence of the object of his long unrequited feelings. But he didn’t think he could stand to be alone with her at first either, to be in her presence and have his fragile, fledgling hopes dashed quite so suddenly. So, he would use the other Starlights and the Sailor Scouts as a cushion, a safety net to keep him from throwing himself at her feet the instant he saw her. Arranging a small, private dinner for all the friends they had made in their previous time on Earth kept him busy for the first few days.
.
Unfortunately for Seiya, Yaten didn’t want to wait for those plans to come to fruition. Calling in a few leftover favors, the silvery-haired Star had a return tour concert poster drawn up and distributed widely around the city. The preoccupation of his comrades kept Seiya and Taiki from discovering his machinations, for which Yaten was thankful. No one knew better than he the dangers of dealing with moony, moody Starlights. He let the situation simmer for a couple of days, hoping their popularity held out and that would be enough time to bring the flyer to the Princess’ attention.
Taiki was so wrapped up in his self-indulgent melancholy and Seiya so rabid with worry over making his dinner party plans the pair hardly had a spare thought for Yaten’s announcement that he was going out. Shaking his head with a sigh, the diminutive Star set out to find the main object of their cross-galaxy travel.
Kakyuu’s directions, despite her limited familiarity with the planet in general, were spot on (probably more thanks to Luna than her own reconnaissance) and Yaten had no trouble finding the blonde’s small flat. There was a small flutter of butterflies in his stomach as he stood in front of her door. He hadn’t seen her in so long; had he changed? Had she? Would it feel the same, seeing her again? Rolling his eyes at how much he sounded like Seiya at the moment, he lifted his hand and knocked resolutely on the door.
After a few seconds he could discern approaching footsteps and the sound of her mumbled voice through the door. His heart leapt into his throat at her approach and he had to restrain the urge to simply bust through the door in his anticipation. Finally, after a few more seconds that felt like years, the door opened and her sweet, feminine voice drifted into the hallway.
“…trying to sneak out into the hall, Luna. Wh-” The words died on her lips, her face turning frighteningly pale and he was afraid for a moment that she was going to pass out, readying himself to spring forward in an instant if that were the case.
“Hello Princess, it’s been far too long.” He absently noted the breathy quality to his voice. It really had been too long, and his heart filled with warmth at just the sight of her. She stood there in shock for a moment longer, her pretty crystal blue eyes filling with tears.
“Yaten?” It was no more than a whisper, but it unleashed a big goofy smile on his otherwise stoic face.
“At present, yes.” She didn’t seem to get the joke as she flung herself into his arms, her own circling his neck and her face pressing into his shoulder.
“You’re here. You’re really here.” He could feel her trembling against him and a wave of protective love washed over him not unlike the feeling he sheltered for his own princess, but a bit different, a bit more…personal. Wiping her eyes, she pulled back and tugged on his hand. “Come in, come in. Oh I’m so glad you’re here, Yaten.”
He studied her as she pulled him into her apartment and nearly pushed him onto the soft couch. She was only a few inches taller, but she seemed more…womanly somehow. She’d cut off a great deal of her hair and her face had a lingering sort of weariness to it. Of course, that could have been just because he was looking for such a thing after the report from Kakyuu. But her eyes, her beautiful eyes still held that same accepting warmth, the same innocent offering of understanding and love that he had never encountered elsewhere. Just being in her presence made him happy in a manner that made him realize how much he had missed her way of embracing all of life with open arms. She was truly a one of a kind.
She brought him a cup of strange tasting tea and offered him something to eat with a slightly wary expression by which he easily understood her cooking skills hadn’t improved since they last met. His response in the negative was met with something like relief, and that goofy smile popped onto his face once more.
They sat and talked for a while, catching up on the each other’s lives, the idle gossip of their day to day routines, neatly ignoring the one topic he was sure she wanted to talk about, and more and more Yaten found his male persona chafing. He felt wrong-footed gossiping idly as the stoic, sardonic idol. He wasn’t sure about the etiquette of changing in front of her, though. Technically, there wasn’t any reason for the male disguise any more. And Yaten idly wished he could pass off some lame story about a sex-change operation or something and not have to wear it anymore; right, like the public would go for that.
His mildly persistent discomfort and her acutely persistent avoidance of any discussion of him was quickly bringing the more acerbic parts of his personality to the surface. So in order to try and spare her that dubious pleasure, he cut quickly to the chase.
“Princess, would you like to go with me back to our apartment? I’m sure the other guys would love to see you.”

Even though it might take a hundred thousand years, I will eventually finish this story. I won't leave anything on here indefinitely without finishing it. So don't worry. Every unfinished story is like a tiny pebble in my shoe. Eventually, I will deal with them all!
