(A Few Days Later With Near)

Rester gave a break to everyone once the Kira case was over and all the paper work was completed.
Halle and Gevanni spent that time relaxing on a different floor, only Rester stayed to keep an eye on the cameras.
Near had barely left his room, only to use the bathroom and to shower.
‘Near this isn’t healthy...’ Rester thought as he watched Near once again place all his food in the bin, before laying back down on his bed.

Near knew that Rester was watching him all the time but he didn’t care any more.
‘What’s wrong with me, This is for the best i know it is, Matt deserves better then me.’ Near thought to himself. He sighed and turned onto his side reaching to where Matt normally was. “I hope you’re ok Matt.” Near said out loud before falling asleep again not having the energy to stay awake for long periods of time with his recent weight loss, he had also stopped his medication completely....
Rester watched and listened, Once he was sure he was asleep Rester went into the bedroom and emptying the waste bin and cleaning up, before covering Near with a blanket... He stroked Near’s hair from his face.
Near turned his head towards the hand enjoying the touch while asleep and mumbled “Matty...” Before curling tighter into a ball on the bed.
Rester sighed and smiled sadly, “You gave up everything for something you think he wants, what you don’t realize is that he needs and wants you to” He whispered before leaving the room...

(With Matt)

Matt had a bad few days after leaving Near at the warehouse the first night he cried himself to sleep, Second day he spent silent only played his games and ate snacks that were placed in front of him.
Third day he explained to Mello that he loved him but couldn’t help but be worried about Near.
And today he decided to get on with it as he was bringing Mello down to, It wasn’t fair as Mello had been willing to try living together with Near.
Matt brought a bar chocolate and a hot chocolate to Mello. Mello looked up surprised, “What’s with the change?” Mello ask cautiously.
“Nothing... I know i haven’t been the best person to be around.” Matt said quietly looking down to the floor.
Mello gave a little smile and opened his arms, Matt took the chance and laid between Mello’s arms head on his chest.
As he nuzzled Mello he questioned “Where’s Rod.”
“He flew back to America, said he’s willing to house us any time we’re over there... I told him we were staying here for a while to rest.”
Matt nodded against his chest but didn’t reply.
Mello switched on a movie on the television and started playing with Matt’s hair. Soon both Matt and Mello were asleep holding each other on the sofa the television playing to it’s self.

(5 Days Later, 9 Days After The Kira Case)
(With Near)

Rester continued preparing meals and medication for Near, Each time Near drank his juice and tea and leaving both his medicines and food.
He was sleeping a lot of the time barely had energy to walk. Rester often helping him to bathroom before carrying him to bed.
Rester sighed as he covered Near over and about to pick up the dirty plates to leave when he heard Near’s quiet voice.
Turning “Say again Near I didn’t quite hear you.” Rester asked quietly.
Near struggled to sit. “I said please stay.”
Rester nodded “I am the case maybe over but we want to continue working with you.”
“I didn’t mean that.” Near frowned “I meant stay now...Here” Rester didn’t respond shocked.
“Please Rester you can sit and read but please.” Rester placed the plates down and sat beside Near.
“I don’t mind sitting with you and i don’t mind stroking your hair if you’ll let me.”
Near inched closer to Rester laying his head on Rester’s chest. Rester started stroking his hair “Do you think he’s happy.”
“I’m sure Matt misses you.” Rester replied
“But he loves Mello.” Near said quietly.
“But he loved you to Near, He may love Mello but he loves you to so i’m sure he misses you.” Rester said.
Near buried his head deeper into Rester’s shirt and chest letting the silent tears fall.
Rester continued stroking Nears hair feeling his shirt get slightly damp.
Soon though Near had fallen asleep clutching at Rester shirt in his sleep.
Rester stayed by Nears side until late night when he rolled over and hugged his pillow, Taking a deep breath remaining asleep. Rester carefully crept out of Nears bed covering him and picked up the plates again, carrying them to the kitchen.
Halle was preparing drinks for them both, ‘She must of been watching the monitors.’ Rester thought placing the dirty dishes in the sink.

“How much longer are we supposed to carry on like this....” Halle asked finally turning to Rester. “He’s hasn’t eaten to my knowledge in 9 days and he was barely eating before that.”
Rester sighed, “What do you want me to do Halle... I can’t force feed him, I can’t force him to see a doctor... I can’t take his pain away.” Rester finished looking down hurt “I can’t do anything that helps but be there for him.... He’s a child and he’s been through more then any adult should deal with.”
Halle sighed herself walking to Rester hugging him loosely “I don’t know, but he can’t go on much longer..”
Rester hugged back before pulling back “I know.... i know.”
