The next morning, Tsume got up from a near restless sleep as a man on a mission. He looked at his phone with a glance. He had two missed calls from Toboe overnight, and one text from that same night. He ignored them. Breakfast was ate out because he wanted to be near the bank when it opened. He was getting rid of it all in one fell-swoop. If Toboe Wolf wanted to drag him down, it was not going to happen as planned. A doctored photo lie, ok. But the pictures of them kept on a flashdrive, not going to happen. They weren't anything terribly bawdy - minus their first time - but that was enough. And he was going to erase it all by destroying the only existing copies. His alibi, should someone from the law be following him, was depositing the earrings given to him by Toboe. The engagement bangle was stolen, the thief might come for anything owned or given by his ex.
Removing the drive, he then took out his engraved earrings and set them into the small locker instead. His fingers lingered upon them before he shut them away. So much for eternity. When Tsume was on the street his phone rang. He checked the caller. It red: Howling. Toboe. He picked up on the second round of ringing; he first got into his car for privacy before picking up.
"What are you calling for?" Asked the actor, feeling on-set as he speaks. Because in truth, all he wants is to hear Toboe say that the fight was stupid and he's calling it off.
"Nice to hear from you, too," came a cool reply over the line. He likely didn't miss the February in his ex's tone. "I'm calling because you called meme. So what's with the attitude? I'm only getting back to you."
"Yeah. Late."
"I tried for you last night. You didn't pick up." He then revealed. "I was home watching a movie with my brother and Hige, so my phone was muted."
"It doesn't matter, the issue is being handled."
"Issue?" His smile could be heard. "Oh, that, Tsume.. it was dumb. I didn't mean to embarrass you by acting like you were the worst thing in the world to happen to me." He laughed. "I really just wanted to make you jealous."
Not amused, Tsume waited for his ex's good-humor to die down before he spoke. "..."Cancel Tsume". "He has his team spread dating rumors to cover up his fetish for young boys"... Did you really think something like that would go ignored as some dumb prank?" He growled.
Toboe was quiet. "Tsume, I never.."
Cutting him off, he snipped in cold bites. "You're disgusting. I thought that no matter how serious the fight, we would never be so low to the other.. guess I was wrong about that too. I trusted too completely, and, once again, got fucked."
Toboe again tried to speak but was cut off.
"Tell me.. Are you having fun? Hmm? Being out there and ripe for the taking now that you're single?" Tsume flipped-off a driver who honked at him, wanting the space.
The man had seen him enter his car as he circled the lot, but the hidden driver had yet to pull out. What did he think this place was, a hangout joint? Are they serving meals?
"My life gets ruined by cops thinking that I'm some damned perverted pedophile! While you tell the world I was type-scum!" He let out a breath to keep him steady from the edge. "Congratulations. You got your revenge for my having the nerve to care about your safety. Hope ruining me for it was worth it."
"Tsume, what are you talking about?"
He hung up on him. He's done playing kid games. Giving the waiting driver one last gestured remark out the window, he backed his car from the space and drove off.

Tsume washed the dishes in his sink with a heavy heart. The suddsy liquid made easy work of cleaning the grease from his plates, and the photos and videos of his past. Swirling around in the current was the flashdrive. It was assaulted first by a screwdriver to get the pieces off-kilter, then he tossed it into the burning, bubbly water.
He's being immature. That's what he feels. But logic is taking a backseat to emotional. He, despite his anger, can't stop thinking about what went wrong. Why? Everything was so good between them. The conversations, the dates, Toboe didn't mind being in the spotlight... Maybe. His pensive expression bent. Maybe he was mistaken? Perhaps it was all a lie? Maybe deep down Toboe was only tolerating him. His dear Wolf had long since moved on, and only tried to make it work when he just reappeared that day.
'Hn. Since when was I like this? Toboe's reaction was genuine...' He drained the sink water.
He removed the ruined drive rinsing it when he washed his hands. It was too risky that the thing was still possible to use, so tossing it in the trash wasn't gonna happen. He could dispose of it elsewhere, but he can't be assured his privacy when he's actively working. Someone always spots him, and it's rarely quietly.
Toboe's words stung. Not the words themselves but that he'd said them. How long was he thinking such things? Was it before Rome or after? More presently.
"I only wanted to make sure you were safe." He said to himself. "Why is that a crime?"
He swiped the screwdriver from the island counter, then sank down onto the living room sofa. He stuffed the tool into the mouth of the object, scraping, scratching, digging at it. It was a nice release knowing that each attack on the thing cleared him of the memories. No more shots from hidden places. No more first time. No more cozy moments from Toboe's birthday that spring. No anything. Just a man alone.
All alone.

Spike whistled. "Trying to kill my best lightweight?" He asked the young man.
Young Wolf been on a mission for flesh since he walked in. He was pounding on guys, and was about to get sincerely knocked out if he didn't ease up. His usual customers could only be so polite to spar with newbie. But if his intentions are a straight brawl, Toboe was going to catch onto to the differences real quick.
"How could he do that to me?!" Bellowed the mini boxer.
"Do what?" It didn't take a genius to figure out that Toboe was talking about his ex boyfriend.
"I called to make up with him, and he just exploded on me!" Toboe wasn't sure if he was angry or sad. His emotions continued fluctuating as he went about his day. Distracted. Lost. He was feeling so good, and so sure that everything was going to work out, just to have it all go down hill. Cool metal on inclined ice.
"What did you expect would happen? You dump the guy, flash your train like a novice - - which, by the way, only made you look younger than you are, then you post all that crap about him on Social Media." Spike waved out his boxer, the gestured for the keyed-up young man to follow him to the sandbag. "It's been two and a half months, and that was what he got from you. Anger mixed with insult - - as if he had broken up with you." He laughed. "The ego on kids today."
Angered, Toboe ground-out. "I'm not a kid."
"You sure about that?" Spike teased. He dodged a swing aimed his way. "Straight to violent outburst... okay, so you're at least a pre-teen."
Toboe raised his fist but dropped it at his side in defeat. Why was he always being picked on, and aged down. Does he really look that young and helpless? Spike, with his specialty in the field, read the mood. However, he let Toboe stew in his revelations. He needed to. He's been acting like a brat. And now that he knows the full scale of the young man's situation with Tsume Keina, he, Spike Speigel; a man who normally gives zero fucks, actually found himself caring. What Toboe did was a stink-move. And over something so petty. It may be important to Wolf, but not to the degree of the punishment. It didn't fit.
"You want to be seen as a man... man-up. Stop this idiocy against Tsume before it escalates."
Toboe sighed. "All I did was post photos saying it felt good to be free. Is his ego so big that he's embarrassed to be seen as the one who was dumped."
"Photos. Right." Spike retrieved his phone. Opening the feed, he showed it to Toboe. "This is your idea of just some pictures?"
Toboe glanced at the phone. "Obviously." But then something brought his gaze back at the glowing screen. "Wait... Is this the account? That's not mine." He took the phone bringing up his account. "See. This is mine."
"Yeah, but you made this one just to be anonymous."
"Hate to break it to you, but I'm not that sneaky." He scrolled the other account and felt sick.
No wonder Tsume was pissed. He'd be livid. He actually is feeling that way. How could someone impersonate him to slander Tsume? No. This was probably his stalker doing this. He has to be calm. He has to fix this. And more importantly, why were they trying to frame him for it? His stomach groaned seeing the photo of him and Tsume, where his ex placed his hand on his thigh. Shit.
'That creep probably impersonated my account to make this stick. If Tsume and I weren't already apart, his seeing this would do it.' To Spike he asked. "Can I borrow your phone? Tsume's so mad, he might not pick up if it's my phone calling."
"Go ahead." He yawned, already bored. He wandered away to continue coaching the others in the gym.
Toboe walked to the bathroom to have some privacy. He didn't go directly into the restroom, just hung out in the long hall that leads to it. It took three rings before the call went through.
"Yeah?"
"Tsume, it's me. I.." He let out a disgruntled sigh. Of course he hung up. A text buzzed. It was from Tsume, addressed to him. It read: Give Speigel his phone. "Fine. You wanna be immature, I can go toe-to-toe, pal."
...
Toboe drove over to the apartment. He was shocked by the swarm of photographers, there were two news teams, and a armful of fans all murmuring and waiting for Tsume to exit the building or shout at them from the window of the loft. He wouldn't be able to see his ex without being spotted and swarmed. But, maybe this is what was necessary to fix this? He could just state the truth himself. Then they'd have no choice but to believe him, because he's the presumed informant of the misinformation. The crude lie within the truth.
The young man may not be able to read minds, but he does know Tsume. 'Alright, so it is odd that someone my age even became an interest to him. But Tsume is not a pervert or a pedo', or whatever! He's my friend.. my boyfriend.. maybe, at some point?' It was made painfully obvious that he'd made a mistake when breaking up with Tsume. But, dammit, he made him so mad. He's still mad about being babied. But, it shouldn't have lead to any of this. 'This is all Gasper's fault. If he hadn't started that whole 'Cancel Tsume' tirade, I would have just sulked until I felt better.' He planned to give his roommate a swift kick in the butt when he got back to the dorms.
Parking the car so he can make a swift exit afterwards, he climbed out of the car. The chattering crowd ignored him, until they recognized him then they moved in. The noise level likely pissed-off the neighbors; some of them spied from their windows, some looked like they were on the phone trying to get the police to break up the party. Everyone within the buildings enclosure was alive with attention.
"Everybody shut up!" He called over the noise. "Look at yourselves... Can you get it in your head that other people live around here too?"
"Toboe Wolf," Yvette Shaw from channel 3 news approached the Hot Topic teen first. "Care to give a statement about the accusations you've made against Tsume Keina?"
"Sick fuck!" Called one of the fans. She threw her supportive sign his way, but thankfully a gust caused it to miss him.
"You should be sued for deformation of character!" Shouted a fanboy.
"Listen to me!" Toboe called over the noise. A real hootenanny was brewing. "I can explain everything,"
"Go away! Go away!"
The chant started.
"Just let me explain!" He tried shouting over the mob. "Oh, come on!" He rubbed his head where a bottle of water landed. "Stop shouting!"
This was not how this was supposed to go. He would talk, they would listen, feel foolish, then drop the whole situation. The news is live from what he can tell. There was no way they could edit it to twist his words.
"Go home, douchebag!" A girl called out; she laughed at her bravery afterwards. She's never been snarky out loud before. It was fun.
"I'll give you the whole story," he said to reporter Shaw and Len from channel 6.
The reporters were currently in front of their camera saying something to rapidly for it to be clear. The uproar kept up. The fans grabbed anything they could toss. He ducked, swatted, and dodged all attacks. He was about to catch one by surprise but it was smacked away for him. Looking over his shoulder when the crowd gasped and quieted, he saw Tsume.
"The next person who throws something is going to the hospital." He grabbed Toboe by the wrist. "Leave him alone." He tugged him into the apartment lobby.
The crowd stood in a muddled silence, that turned into questioning murmurs. How was Tsume defending that little brat? Something was definitely up. It validated some, who weren't mad at Toboe, who they were vicariously living through to date the actor and former model. Others began to get upset, thinking it was some weird stunt for the man to garner attention. They didn't like the idea of being screwed with, and left in a huff.
The rest were cleared away by the cop who showed up due to the noise complaints from the neighbors. Reporters and all were shooed away, leaving everyone abuzz about what was going on in the man's apartment.
Tsume released his hold on Toboe. The young man brushed away his flustered appearance of moving quickly as well as they awkward elevator ride. At least he's allowing him to be within twenty feet of him. That's a start despite the silence.
Toboe looked around. "I see you've changed the white furniture to navy. It looks very chic."
"You wanted to talk. Talk. Then get out." He looked out the large window, seeing the crowd breaking up.
"...Don't be like that. You saved me." Toboe walked over to him, forcing the eye contact. "You must still care?"
Tsume clenched his jaw. "Is that what this is about? You came to gloat that I still..." He stopped himself. He was not going to give Toboe the satisfaction, at least not to hear the words.
"First, I wanna apologize... I let myself get so worked up, and then you called me stupid and weak.. I was mad, but I shouldn't have let it escalate." He got down on the floor and lowered his head.
"Get up." He said quickly.
Although, he was a bit happy for the sincerity from the little brat. He loves Toboe, but sometimes he could drive one to madness. He supposed that's what love was like. But not between them. Not to this point.
Standing, Toboe gestured that they sit, but Tsume remained immobile, with a scowl on his face and his arms crossed. The impenetrable force from whatever was about to happen.
"Tsume, I'm gonna tell you the honest truth... My account is HowlingWolf230, the other one was created just to harm you. I swear, those posts weren't from me."
"They may as well have been."
"What?"
"You let this stalker thing get out of hand, and now I'm going down and you're getting framed for it."
Toboe didn't know what to say. That Tsume was still angry, still blamed him, was still - indirectly - calling him weak and stupid, kind of hurt. "Tsume... I swear, I'm trying to fix this."
"Fix it? Right. Can you get you get my jobs back? Can you take back being questioned by the cops? Can you undo my place getting fucking ransacked and robbed."
"Yes! If they know the truth." He stated adamantly.
"The truth, in my position, will only get me dry responses from now on." Tsume glared. "You get to go back to your life, I'll be stuck with that taint of people wondering did I really not do it, or pay for silence."
"But, I won't let them twist my words. I'll tell them exactly what happened and why." He felt tears but held strong. "All things aside, Tsume I was just angry. But, I still love you." He took his hand. "And even if it means it'll take the rest of my life, I'm gonna get your life back to how it was."
"...Your.." He stopped.
Toboe waited, but getting nothing he said. "Yes, me included." He let go of the ungripped hand. "I was lashing out. You called me stupid, made me feel pathetic, like I need a protector - even now!" He gestured out the window where the mob used to be. "I just don't wanna be coddled.. Not by you."
Tsume shook his head. "You just don't get it."
"Then tell me."
"I would give anything for you," his ex hissed. "I love you. I don't like being away from you for these long stretches of time - - I'm not saying sew yourself to my hip, I just wanna know you're there... That if I reach out, you'll do the same." He offered a dry smile. "I'm the weak coward. The thought of you being gone scares me, so yeah, I got one of my guys to watch out for you, for just in case... I'm selfish. So what?"
"Why couldn't you just tell me that instead of saying what you said?"
"I thought it was obvious. I waited constantly to have a real relationship with you... For what?"
Toboe drew in a breath. He doesn't know what to say. Everything Tsume said made sense. It hurt good and bad at the same time. "I'm going to fix everything. I'll make everyone understand."
"You're still younger than me."
"By chance. Not conspiracy." Toboe grumps. "They panted after me as a spotlight earlier when they found out about us, I'm gonna make them sick of my face until someone listens to the truth."
"Good luck."
Toboe, very smugly, replied. "I don't need it."
Toboe stood quietly in his resolve. Tsume looked at him, then back out of the window. "The crowd has been gone for a while. Go now, before they come back."
"Tsume? Can't you just pretend it's better? That we've gotten it all out of our systems and we're good again..."
"Do you love me?"
"Yes."
"No. I mean do you really love me?"
"I do. Why are you asking - - apart from the obvious?"
"I thought about your little party, playboy, photo shoot... You could be with anyone, so why me? Someone your own age won't treat you like you're weaker than they are."
"So you're saying it's seniority?"
"I'm saying that you're younger than me. I've been with others, you haven't... Why not cut your loses."
"Because it doesn't matter who else is out there, I've already got my perfect for me." He shrugged his shoulder. "Am I not allowed to love him and be happy, just because he's my one and only? Don't you love me?"
"Of course I do, Pup. Why else would I be in this shit?"
Toboe snickered. "Your romantic banter could use some practice, it's only been two or so months." He teased. Sobering, he asked again. "Let me try. At least it's something... I want everything back to the way it was... Can we try?"
Tsume closed his eyes. These past two months were hell on repeat. Lost jobs, getting fired and replaced, mocked by some whenever he went out, badgered by others. But, all of that was nothing compared to believing that Toboe hated him indefinitely.
Toboe turned away. Forget it.
But just as he was about to walk away, he was pulled to Tsume. The embrace said it all. It was no longer a thought of if they were each other's. But that they are each other's. He could have stayed forever.
