Robots, Games And Chocolate

(At Mello’s.)

Mello heard Matt moving in the bathroom, and heard the water running ‘He won’t be long.’ He thought sending a short message of ‘There soon.’ As he heard the water switch off he got a reply. ‘Please don’t come if your going to hurt him he can’t take it.’ He gave a sigh and placed his phone away just as Matt entered in his jeans and striped shirt. “Who was that.” Matt asked running a hand through his hair.
“Halle grab your cigarettes we have to go see her.”
“why..” ‘ I can’t do this, not now.’ Matt added in his thoughts
Mello sighed “I won’t lie Near’s not well, I’m not sure but he’s not been doing so well since the end of the Kira case.” Mello replied calmly as possible standing and putting on his coat.
Matt went wide eyed ‘Near’s ill, Mello’s going to see Halle.’ “Where will Near be?” He asked grabbing some cigarettes.
“Don’t know Halle wanted a talk first about t all.” They both walked out to Mello’s bike and put on a helmet before riding off towards the SPK Building.
(At Nears.)

Rester saw the bike pull up into the garage, They came to the door and to his surprise they pressed the buzzer to be let in.
He allowed then entrance and called to Halle to come through with some tea’s and chocolate.

Mello and matt walked through the hallways quietly. Matt holding and squeezing Mello’s hand.
“Mello is this my fault?” He asked quietly.
“No... You didn’t do anything.” Mello replied coming to the doors that led to the main room used by Near and his team.

Rester took one last glance to the camera’s in Near’s room before shutting them off as Mello and Matt entered, Halle came in with a tray.
“You’re here as well then” Mello said giving Rester a once over.
“I am Near’s right hand man and main guardian.” Rester said
“Some job you did then, The footage i saw Near isn’t that well looked after.” Mello growled out.
Matt squeezed his arm tighter “Mello don’t let’s just listen and sort this out please.”
Mello sighed and nodded leading Matt to sit down.
“I rang you because there was nothing we could do, near refused our help.” Halle said as a warning.
Matt glanced down the hall to where he suspected Near’s room was ‘Please be ok Near, I love you’
Mello caught his look before turning back to Rester and Halle.
“How did something like this happen? I mean he’s stopped eating, stopped his medicines and your telling me there’s nothing you could of done to help him or stop him.” Mello stated, Matt turned at that “He what....”
“It’s not like that.” Rester replied back.
“Then tell us what it is like, Tell us how this happened.” Mello growled out opening and biting into his chocolate.
Rester took a deep breathe trying to remain calm. “You want to know what i think caused this, all the facts that led to this situation.”
“Yes i wouldn’t of asked other wise” He gave a cold glare to Rester.
“Fine then.” Rester said giving a small look around the room then at the two young boys in front of him. “But you have to listen to everything i have to say or i won’t bother and you two can leave.” He said calmly
Mello looked to Matt who nodded with a pleading look in his eyes “Fine we’ll listen to Everything.” Mello finally replied.

Rester sighed looking to Matt and Mello, “You act all grown up, All 3 of you...” Rester looked down and activated the camera’s to Nears room. “Your kids who were forced to grow up fast.” Points to the screen “Some more then others. He lost his father figure, then Mello, You walked out leaving Matt distraught and depressed, Then he was made to come here to fight Kira he was 13... 13 years old fighting a murderer and no ordinary one at that, then because of you Mello he was forced to watched his team die around him.”
Mello looked down ashamed, Matt shuddered remembering that night.
“He dealt with it though he dealt with everything because he had to. Then him and Matt had to watch you get blown up, They thought you were you dead.... “ Rester paused briefly “When you were found alive Near made the choice to give Matt up, He knew you hated him. Because of that hate and his love for Matt he sent Matt to you...He wouldn’t sleep he focused on work so much, He started eating less and less but he always took his medicines...But...” Rester paused again....
“Go on.” Mello said holding back his emotions
“But once the case ended.. He couldn’t except your offer because you don’t like him, He believes Matt’s better off with you Mello.. He didn’t count on the fact that once the case ended he wouldn’t have anything to keep his mind occupied ... He went downhill, he wouldn’t eat he stopped his medicines, He wouldn’t except help...” Rester sighed taking a deep breath “He asked me to help, Asked me to stay by his side. What was i supposed to do, The one thing that will help him is Matt and you to like him.” Rester lowered his head to his hands muttering quietly “He’s still a child, He just wants to be loved, He just wants Matt to be happy, Even if it means he’s not.”
Matt had tears running down his cheeks silently...Mello raised his eyes to look at Rester before turning to Matt.. Mello stood up, “You’re right... About it all, Near’s lucky to have you.”
Matt looked up as Mello stood. “Mell...”
“I Need to talk to Near alone... Halle don’t let him down to Near’s room and Rester record the conversation if you have to but i need you to trust me... trust me not to hurt him.”
Halle nodded and moved closer to Matt... Rester looked up to Mello seeing the hurt in his eyes. “I trust you... just remember he doesn’t understand easily... and he’s not had medicine in over a week.”
Mello nodded and walked down the hall. Matt tried to stand, Halle came behind him “I won’t let you past.”
“But..”
Rester spoke up.... “This is something Mello has to do alone.”
Matt sighed and sat down again tears still falling slowly.

Mello entered Near’s room and stilled at the sleeping figure on the bed. ‘Near, you shouldn’t of let it get this far...’ He continued and sat by the bed on a small chair placed there, ‘Seems Rester’s in here a lot’ ...He sat in silence looking over Near’s sleeping form taking in the loss of weight and paler then normal skin.
Mello reached over and gently brushed some hair from Near’s face ‘I don’t think i ever hated you, Not truly anyway.’ Mello thought.
Near shifted and started stirring slowly, Mello pulled back sitting back in the chair.

Near Felt something brush his face, He was still tired but slowly woke up, Opening his eyes and looking to his side he saw a person he thought he’d never see again.
“Mello what are you doing here? I sent all of Matt’s things... theres nothing left.” he said quietly.
“I’m here to talk, And to apologize.” Mello said looking up to his eyes. “I came because Halle rang, When i got here Rester gave me a few home truths.”
Near struggled to sit up, Mello helped him and placed few cushions behind his back.
“I don’t understand, Why do you care what happens?”
Mello sighed “Because i care bout you, I know i haven’t shown it... I wanted to be Liked so much, And for L to respect me...I tried so hard, and it seemed you didn’t have to. I wanted to be like you to have high grades without having to stay up half the night studying.”
“But i did study hard..” Near said pulling a face.
“I realize that now... But at the time i couldn’t see it.. I love Matt, I know he love’s me but i know he loves you to. He needs you, and you need him, and i need Matt....You were right in Wammy’s in the warehouse. We all need each other.”
“How can that work though...” Near asked looking up to Mello.
“Well for starters, If ok with you we could all move here... order a bigger bed... Matt in the middle, Get you back to health...Eating and taking your medicines..” He paused to think.. “Your kinda cute so relationship wise we’ll see how it goes.. main thing is Matt will be happy, and you’ll be healthy.”
Near seemed to think it all over. “So we live together, and work out a relationship side later... what about work?”
“Well Your L now” He looked down hiding his eyes. “So your our boss, we’ll help anyway we can.”
“And the relationship,” Near bit his lip.
“Well for now Matt’s yours and mine. When and if you get comftable enough with me around maybe we could... well we’ll come to that when it happens..If you allow it that is.” Mello said
Near nodded... “Is Matt ok?”
Mello smiled “He’s fine, Worried about you, everyone is Near. Halle, Rester, Me and Matt.”
“I’m Sorry... I just... i’m sorry” Near mumbled
“It’s ok Near... Rester will be getting worried and Matt. Can i go fetch them?”
“Rester only... and ask him to bring tea... i can’t let Matt see me like this.. But you can fetch stuff here ask Halle for help.” Near said.
Mello nodded and stood. “Of course, I’ll send Rester” Mello walked to the door turning around “Near, I’m sorry... for everything, Hurting you, Leaving you and Matt, Making you witness... them deaths. I’m sorry” He walked out before Near could reply going down the hall.

Once he entered the main room Matt stood “Can i see him? How is he? You didn’t upset him did you? What did he say?”
Mello walked over holding a hand over his mouth to shut him up, “No you can’t see him yet, He’s as well as can be expected, I didn’t upset him and he said a few things... Halle he want you to help me and Matt move some stuff here we’ll be staying here in separate room until he’s well and Matt he doesn’t want to see you yet he wants you to concentrate on bringing stuff here and Rester he needs you in there and asked for tea.”
Rester nodded and stood pouring a fresh cup of tea and walking down the hall to Near’s room.
Halle nodded as well... “What happens when he’s well again.”
Mello sighed... “I agreed to work here under Near... as for relationship wise well we’re going to work that as we go, First things first we need to move in here and get him well... eating and taking his medicines. Lets go Matt. Halle you’ll have to follow in the car.” Mello said walking to the door.
Matt glanced to the hallway before standing and following Mello, Halle close behind.


Rester entered Near’s room with a tray with drinks on it. “Mello said you wanted me..”
Near nodded and moved his blanket slightly. Rester saw this and walked over placing the drinks down before picking Near up carrying him to the bathroom.
As he was placed down Near looked down “Did he say anything else?”
“That him and Matt were moving in and would be sleeping in a spare room until you are well, Then things would be worked out from there. But his main concern was to get you well again.” Rester said back turned to Near for some privacy.
“Did you call him?”
“No...Halle did, I don’t want you getting hurt again and with Mello’s known temper issues.”
“It’s fine, he apologized and we talked...” Near paused and sighed “I’ve finished.”
Rester turned to Near and helped him off the toilet and let him wash his hands before carrying him to the bedroom.
“You don’t agree with him staying here.” Near stated as Rester wrapped the blanket round him.
“I want you well again and if Mello and Matt can achieve that... well i know i can’t so it’ll be good in long run.” He replied.
“And if we start a relationship..”
“That’s up to you, I work under you, Your personal life is your business not mine.” Rester said handing Near his tea.
Near took his tea drinking slowly. “Your allowed an opinion.”
Rester sat down sipping his own drink. “A 3 way relationship is personal preference, I myself wouldn’t choose it, But if it makes you and the other 2 involved happy go for it. After all you can’t help who you fall for.”
Near gave a small smile, “Thank you Rester.” He continued sipping his drink.
Rester smiled back.. “Should we try get you some food, Or maybe milkshake.”
Near shook his head. “I don’t like milkshake.” Near looked down and thought “some fruit would be nice.”
Rester smiled and stood “Back soon, i’ll bring some more tea in.”
Rester walked out after receiving a slight nod from Near.


(A Few Weeks Later)

Over the last few weeks Near had gone back onto his medication, He was eating but still had bad days where he refused. Mello and Matt had moved into a spare room... Near often refused to see Matt claiming he didn’t want to upset him. So Matt spent his time playing games or helping Rester with the computers, Mello was the calmest of the three trying to hold each of them together...

Rester entered Near’s bedroom watching as Near stood in front of the mirror in his boxer shorts... “Near... are you ok?”
“Do i look ok to you..” staring at his reflection in the mirror.
Coming behind Near and looking at him, Lay hand on his shoulder “You look healthier now you put on those few pounds...”
Near frowned slightly “But do i look ok..”
“Matt loves you, No matter how you look. Lets get you dressed you’re getting cold.” Rester said smiling at Near... “He’d love to see you.”
Near looked at Rester giving a small smile before nodding and turning walking to his bed. Rester got his clean clothes and as Near put on his shirt Rester knelt slipping on his trousers and socks.
“Are you warm enough?” Rester asked not wanting him to catch a cold
“I’ll be fine, If i feel cold i’ll get a blanket.” Near stood and slowly walked out of his room Rester close behind.
As Near entered the main room he looked around he sighed as was quiet... Halle and Gevanni were out on personal business, Mello was asleep on the sofa Matt on the floor by his feet playing a hand-held.
“Seems to quiet without a case.”.. Near said quietly.
“There are cases but only small Mello and myself have been working on them... Matt has helped with the computers” Rester replied
Matt looked up at Near’s quiet voice... “Near.” He gave a small smile “You’re ok.”
Near nodded. “I’ll make your tea Near sit down”
“Thanks Rester...” He made his way to the 2 seat sofa sitting slowly “I’m sorry Matt...I’ve hurt you, I just wanted you to be happy and i thought that was with Mello” Near looked down as he spoke quietly.
Matt crawled over to him and sat next to him “I am happy with Mello, but i’m happy with you to... I guess I’m greedy wanting both of you but i love you both so differently.. We’ll work this out Near to be happy together” Matt brought Near into a hug “Mello may not admit it much but he’s been so worried about you.”
Near hugged back cautiously and stared over to the sleeping Mello. “I don’t know how this will work or turn out.”
“Neither of us do... but we will work it out depends on what you want... I mean your cute Near Mello wont mind been with you or me but this is about you...” Matt said.
Near thought for a moment and pulled out of the hug as Rester returned with Tea for himself, Matt and Near and some water. Matt frowned for a moment looking as Near pulled away from him.
Near sighed and scooped up the tablets from the tray placing them in his mouth and taking a drink from the water... Matt took his tea realizing why now.
Near placed the glass of water down and took the cup of tea. “Thank you Rester.”
Near Sipped his tea placing it down yawning... Rester grabbed a blanket laying it on Near’s legs.. Near looked up then at the blanket before curling up closer to Matt.
Matt smiled and put his arms around Near pulling him closer letting Near use his knee as a pillow... Near merely sighed and closed his eyes mumbling “Welcome home, Matt...Mello....”
Matt stroked his hair ... “It’s good to be home Near... sleep.”
Near barely heard Matt as sleep took over him.

Mello woke a short time later stretching and groaning as his shoulder and neck popped from the awkward position he slept in....He glanced across from him spotting Matt and Near on the 2 seater, Near fast asleep curled up on Matts knee, Matt was playing a hand-held on mute.
“Seems it’s a day for napping” Matt said not looking up from his game
“It would appear so.” Mello replied as he sat up.. “He looks a lot healthier then when we first moved in.”
Matt frowned slightly “Wouldn’t know, i’m just glad he’s talking to me now... letting me hold him.”
Mello moved beside them both and stroked Nears hair... ‘I think i love you Nate’ “Lets get him to bed, These sofa’s aren’t very comftable.”
Matt giggles and nods “Sure, You carry Near”
Mello stood and picked him up smiling as Near stirred and clung to his top, He walked them down to Near’s bedroom laying Near on his bed as Matt entered the room....
Mello and Matt climbed either side of Near hugging him between them.
