Dragon Cycle – Chapter 29 – Ende
Author's Notes: Es ist beendet.
A very short chapter to wind this whole thing up.
It has taken me waaaaaaaaay longer than it should have to finish this story and the fandom is so old I don't even know if people still read WK fanfic. But I'm happy I've finished this and now it can stop nagging my conscience.
No beta was used for this chapter so any plot holes or grammatical, punctuation, spelling, translation, characterization, etc. mistakes are purely my own work.

Crawford hadn’t questioned their sudden departure from the mountains. From what he’d been able to gather, Miss Yamamoto had grown bored with the country life and yearned for the pulsing vibrancy of the city. Whether Schuldig had anything to do with her change of heart, he didn’t know and had cared even less. They were leaving and even if he wouldn’t admit it out loud, he was more than thankful to put the ‘vacation’ behind him.
They’d been home two days now and he was in his study busying himself with work when he felt the sensation that preceded a vision. He stopped and waited.
He wasn’t surprised by what was revealed. He trusted his team to do the right thing in order to get the right results. He didn’t feel the need to interrogate them as to their actions. Therefore, he’d never questioned Schuldig regarding his time with Verena. He’d simply known that, had he been presented with a chance, the German would have done whatever was necessary to bring about a satisfactory result for Schwarz and, more importantly where Schuldig was concerned, for himself.
His belief that the telepath had succeeded was strengthened by the ease with which Schuldig had accepted Verena’s escape. Had he not succeeded, he’d have been seething with rage over the fact she’d slipped their grasp. Knowing that Rosenkreuz would capture her would not have been recompense enough. Schuldig wanted retribution for all he had suffered and letting Rosenkreuz deal out that retribution would not have satisfied him.
So his silence in regards to her escape told Crawford all he needed to know.
The vision was brief – Verena…the glint of a gun barrel…
When the vision faded, he gave a satisfied smile and turned his attention back to what he’d been doing.

“Was it your doing?” Farfarello asked his bed mate.
It was the first time he’d broached the topic of their early departure from the mountains although they’d been home a few days now.
Schuldig, of course, knew exactly what he was referring to, and gave a laugh. “Not at all,” he replied. He looked at the Irishman, amusement dancing in his blue eyes. “But, seriously? Two weeks in the mountains, someone like her?” He shook his head. “I’m just surprised she didn’t want to leave earlier.”
“Did Crawford think it was you?” Farfarello enquired, trailing a hand down the pale chest of the other man.
“If he did, he didn’t say as much,” Schuldig answered. He caught Farfarello’s hand and brought it to his lips, kissing the palm. “It's too bad we left, though. I’d just thought of letting that Fujimiya kid know where Takatori was.” He smiled dreamily. “That would have been fun.”
Watching him, Farfarello smiled, then caught the German’s head between his hands and caught his lips in a deep kiss.
Seconds later, Schuldig started so suddenly their teeth clacked together. Farfarello drew back sharply and looked at him. The look on the German’s face told Farfarello that he was listening to something only he could hear.
“What?” he asked.
“*Perfekt,” Schuldig said, his tone one of quiet approval. That thought he’d planted, oh so carefully and so very secretly, just over a week ago had finally been actioned. He looked at the Irishman and gave a vicious smile. “*Der drache ist tot.”
