3) The Darkest of Darks

It was well after breakfast when Lucinda found Lantis and Hikrau out in the courtyard. She wouldn't have given this a second though save for the fact that they were with a large black horse that had been made ready to ride.

'Curiouser and curiouser,' Lucinda thought as she stepped out of the shadows and walked right over to where Hikrau and Lantis were preparing to ride when Umi walked over to them.

"Where are you two going? Don't tell me it's a date," Umi said, the last part suggestingly. This made Hikrau blush while Lantis lifted an eyebrow.

"No Umi, it's not a date. After hearing Fuu's dream, Clef recalled that there's an gardem maze on the north side of Cephiro," Hikrau said and Lucinda got this stunned look on her face as she gasped mentally at this bit of news.

"So, you think you might find some clues about this dream girl if you go there?" Umi asked.
"That's what we're hoping. Wish us luck Umi," Hikaru said before Lantis helped her to mount the black horse. Lucinda cursed under her breath as she unfurled and flew after the couple as they galloped away from the castle. At the same time, Umi watched as her friends rode off into the distance and prayed for their safe return.

Lucinda followed Hikaru and Lantis as they made their journey up north. They passed through village after village, forest after forset, feild after feild, through strams and over bridges. It was a interesting journey, none to say the least, but it was swiftly coming to a end as the group approached the northern mountains.

"We're almost to the mountains," Lantis said as the duo had stopped by a river to get a drink for themselves and the horse. Hikaru nodded in agreement, "Yes. And we're almost to the truth." Lucinda bit her lower lip at this as she stood on the other side of the horse. They were almost to the mountain and she had yet to gain an opportunity to bring the couple closer together. She knew she had to do something before they reached the garden. Then, just as Hikaru and Lantis got back on the horse, Lucinda got a brilliant idea and went ahead to the mountain to set things up.

"What was that wind?" Hikaru asked as both she and Lantis felt a sharp wind blow from the right.
"I don't know, it could be a sign we're getting closer," Lantis said. Hikaru smiled, "I'm glad to hear that. I'm ready to ask this person some questions." Lantis smiled at this as they continued to ride toward the mountain.

It didn't take long for the couple to reach the mountain and Lantis led the horse to an entrain tin the side of the mountain which turned out to be a cavern that dug itself deep into the mountain. The two rode quietly into the mountain and Hikaru looked around her suroundings in awe at all the natural rock formations. The two were fifty feet away from the entrance when the horse stopped in his tracks and snorted.

"What's wrong?" Hikaru asked but before Lantis could say anything, a low rumble made itself known in the ground which slowly built into a minor earthquake that brought down part of the ceiling on the exit.

"We're trapped!" Hikaru gasped.
"Not exactlly, the road ahead of us hasn't been blocked off," Lantis said curiously.
"Think it's a trap?" Hikaru asked.
"It could be, but we'll never know for sure untill we move forward. Besides, it's the only way out," Lantis said and urged the horse forward.

'He's right, the only choice we have now is to move forward,' Hikaru thought as she tighten her grip around Lantwaiswaist who noticed the change in her grasp. Lantis glanced over his shoulder to look at Hikaru. He knew that she was worried about the situation and he couldn't blame her...but he wished that she wouldn't grasp so tight. She may not have changed much since the last time he saw her, but she definitly did fill out in some places...mainly the chest area. Having those breasts pressed up against him like that was making him uncomfortable but a comment like that at this moment would seem insulting. On top of that, he loved this girl who used to be a Magic Knight and he didn't have the nerve to admit it to her the last time she was there...maybe this time would be different.

Lantis' thoughts were interupted when he felt something small and delicate brush by his face. He looked up and was surprised to see pink petals floating towards them on a gentle wind. Yet the oddest thing was that he couldn't recognize the type of flower these petals came from.

"Cherry BlossomHikaHikaru gasped.
"Excuse me?" he asked.
"Cherry. It's a special type of tree that grows back on my world an blossoms pink blossoms like these every spring," Hikaru explained.

"If that's the case, than how did they get here?" Lantis mused aloud as they passed through an archway and entered a fifty foot tall dome shapped cavern filled with light. While the light was perfectly normal, it was what was growing in the cavern that made the two people gasp in shock and Lantis pull back hard on the reigns and stop the horse. On the floor of the cavern grew wild green grass, bushes of blushing pink roses and proud cherry trees bursting with blossoms that were gentle blowf byf by a wind that circulated the cavern. The only man made structure in the room was a white gazeebo that was 15ft tall and 10ft wide. Sitting in this gazeebo was Lucinda white, dress in a frilly white sun dress while sipping green tea from a delicate white tea cup.
So there she sat in a metal chair painted white and cushioned with a white cushion while a complete tea set sat on the matching table and two more seats stood empty on the r sir side of the table. Lantis and Hikaru stared at her with equal blushes on their faces as Lucinda finished sipping the tea and put down the cup before she turned to them.

"Why hello, welcome to my garden," Lucinda said cheerfully.
"Who are you?" Lantis asked suspicious. Lucinda grinned as she put down the tea cup and procedded to curtsy to him and Hikaru, "My name is Lucinda White, would you two care for a nice warm cup of tea?" she asked after the curtsy and getsured her left hand to the white tea set. The two thought about it for a moment and finally Lantis dismounted first and then helped Hikaru down. She approached the gazeebo while Lantis tethered the horse to a nearby tree. As Lantis climbed the steps of the gazeebe, he felt an strnage warnth spread over his body. Almost as if he was passing through a barrier. Yet since nothing moticle had happened to him, he decided to ignor this and keep his attentin on Lucinda. Hiakru sat in the chair to Lucinda's right while Lantis took the seat er ler left and the White Cupid happily poured two more cups of tea.

"So. May I ask what brings a lovely couple as yourself up here?" Lucinda askfterfter the two had taken their cups. Lantis had just taken a sip of the tea when this question was ask and needless to say he spat his tea back into his cup in surprise as Hiakru blushed while still holding her cup.

"Did I say something to ofend you?" Lucinda asked innocently enough.
"No, it's just that we're not a couple," Hikrau said.
"Oh, I'm sorry. I just assumed that you two were together on the same horse and heading to the garden..." Lucinda started.

"You know of the garden? The one with the maze made of bushes?" Hikaru asked.
"Why yes, it is very well know in these parts. The garden is known to bring people together," Lucinda said.

"Together? How so?" Lantis asked.
"Well, a really long time ago that garden used to belong to a princess. She tended to it every day and filled it with flowers, it was her pride and joy. Then came the day that her father wished her to marry. Yet rather than just have anyone marry her, the princess proposed a challeneged. She errected an maze in her garden and placed on this mountain. With her tucked safely away in the middle of the maze, shept apt as man after man tried to reach the middle only to find themselves back on the outside again. The maze had been charmed so as only her true love would find her. Then, one day, a man from another land arrived at the maze. Even though everyone though he would fail he entered the maze only to return with the princess in her arms. Two were married and they grew to see many years before they finallyd and and were buried in the garden above us. It is said that to this day, that anyone who enters the maze will find their true love," Lucinda said. All the while, Hikaru was awed by the story and wondered if the same would happen if she entered the maze.

"But, I don't think you two need to go the maze," Lucinda said and took a sip of her tea.
"Why's that?" Hikaru asked and Lucinda just looked over her tea cup at the couple with gleeful eyes.

"It's you," Lantis gasped.
"Lantis?" Hikaru asked.
"It's the girl from Fuu's dream," he said and Hikaru gasped.
"Ah, you finally figured it out. I was wondering when you'd finger me...but for a moment there, I thought Miss Hikaere ere was going to say that I was the ghost of the princess or something," Lucinda said after she put her tea cup down.

"Tell me, why did you bring Umi, Fuu and me back to Cephiro," Hikaru pleaded.
"Can't you tell?" Lucinda asked and the red head looked puzzled, "It's a matter of the heart." The moment these words passed through Lucinda's lips, both Hikaru and Lantis began to feel light in the head and Lucinda began to look a little fuzzy around the edges to them.

'What is this? What's happening to us?' Lantis thought as he tried to clear his head. When that did seem to be working rea reached for his sword...which wasn't there anymore.

"I'm sorry Sir Lantis, but your sword has been placed back by your horse. I don't permit weapons in a place of love," Lucinda said.

"Love?" Hikaru asked and Lucioddeodded, "Yes, love. I think it's high time that certin feelings be placed on the proverbial table. How about we s wit with you Hikaru, tell us what you think about Lantis."

"Lantis..." Hiakru said, her voice sounding more like a breath as Lantis glanced over at her, "I love him." Lantis could feel the emotion of surprise but he wasn't sure if he reacted accoringly or not.

"How long have you loved him?"
"Ever since Cephiro was in danger of collasping," Hikaru said. Luncindaled led and turned to Lantis, "Now Lantis, how do you feel about Hikaru?" Hikaru's mood saden a bit at this question, for there still was that doubt that he disliked her for killing his brother Zagato.

"I love her," he said as he turned to Hikaru. Her head snapped up to look at him as Lucinda smiled. "I've loved her just as long as she's loved me." Tears beaded the corners of Hikaru's eyes, tears of happiness that she finally knew how he truely felt about her. As the two ld atd at each other, Lucninda stood up and away from the table. She held out her hands Cat's Cradel style and a stristring of light wove itself around her fingers before attaching itself to the string that tied Lantis and Hikaru together. She adjusted the string a bit and drew sharply on it so that Lantis and Hikaru were drawn closer together...maybe a little too tight though.

The moment the string was drawn, both Lantis and Hikaru felt the sensation of being drawn closer together even though they were still sitting down. Lantis was the first to make his move by getting out of his seat, approaching Hikaru and kneeling down so as to give her a kiss on the lips. She accepted and moaned lightly at this minimal contact as she lifted her hands to run through his silky black hair and he reveled in this feeling. Right away, the need for more contact made itself known and the two began to undress each other as the tabel and chairs vanished only to be replaced by a bed that was built into the floor and dress in all white coverings. The moment the two were nude they collasped onto the bed as Lucinda sat on the railing of the gazeebo to see her work blossom before her eyes.

"Lantis?"
"I know it sounds selfish but I'm not to sure I can go back to being along like that anymore...now that I've had the real thing," he said as he held her chin with her thumb and forefinger to lock her gaze with his.

"Neither can I Lantis. At first, I thought it was nothing more than a dream but after the sixth time my heart began to break each time I woke up alone. I want to stay here with you, I don't want to wake up alone anymore," Hikaru said and Lantis smile

"Then you won't...we won't," he said as he held her tightly. The two stayed like this as Lucinda looked on with a warm smile before she spun around on her tush to jump down from the railing. Being unseen once more, the couple didn't notice her leave as they went back to their love making once again as Lucinda White walked to the edge of the garden where one of her fellow cupids was busy making a crown of flowers out of the roses.

"Hello Angel," Lucinda said and the pink haired girl looked up from what she was doing to look up at Lucinda with a smile. Angel is Angel Pink, the Pink cupid ofntanntanious love. She looks 18 years old with shoulder length cotton candy pink hair pulled back into pig tails and bright pink eyes. She's 5ft & 4in tall with a slender body dressed in a pink skirt and a pink peasent shirt. You see Angel, Lucinda and the other cupids of Princess Lemon's royal guard are all imortal so it's hard to say just how old they actually are. All that's known is that Angel was 18 when she accepted her powers and Lucinda was 16.

"Hello Lucinda. I see you've finally brought those two together," Angel said and she looked at the gazebo where she could see two human forms in thr throughs of love making.

"It's about freaking time to, you'd think they would have gotten together sooner with all those dreams I made for them," Lucinda said with crossed arms and Angel looked up at her startled.

"You sent them dreams?" she gasped.
"Yeah, I did."
"Lucinda, I wonder just how many rules you broke just to get them together."
Lucinda groaned, "Angel, sometimes you have to get drastic in cases like this. If I hadn't stepped in, those two would have slowly died of broken hearts, never admiting to their love for each other."

"I see...well, we'll just see what our princess thinks when you get back," Angel said as she jumped up with her finished wreath of roses and placed it on Lucinda's head. Seeing as how Lucinda's 5ft & 6in tall, she had to bend down a little bit to do this.

"Just remember, when you're done Victor's going to step and take his turn at the plate," Angel said and Lucinda snorted. "What is this? Baseball? Three strikes and I'm out?"

"Something like that. Good luck with the last couple," Angel said.
"Thanks, I'm gonna need it," Lucinda said and walked out of the cavern and down the tunnel to where the cave in was. Rather than stopping, she continued to walk on as the stones fadded away. The whole thing had been an illusio tro trick Hikaru and Lantis...and it worked. Now, all Lucinda had to do was return to the castle to work on the last former Magic Knight...Umi.
