Salvation
The days starte go go by with furious planning. Mitani couldn’t think like this. He was tired,
cold, hungry, and stuck with someone who was really no help to him in finding a way out of the
hell-hole they had gotten themselves into. There didn’t seem to be any possible way out, either.
The window was locked and there were three bars on the outside of it, that Mitani doubted
Waya’s fat head would fit through. The door was always on constant surveillance, and it was
going to drive him nuts.
His head hurt.
Waya was sitting at the corner of the room, staring out the barred window with a look of utter
blankness across his features. Couldn’t this idiot think!? He had to at least have half a brain
lurking in that monstrous head of his!
“Waya?”
The brunette perked his head up and looked at Mitani. “What?”
“Have you thought of anything yet?”
“..”
“I’ll take that as a no.” Mitani sighed heavily and pinched the bridge of his nose, closing his eyes
in frustration. This was hopeless.
Waya surveyed the room with minimal interest. The only thing they could even think to use as an
instrument for escape was the bed that they had to share. Of course, Mitani wouldn’t get within
ten feet of him, so it ended up with him on the bed and Mitani in the corner on the other side of
the room. It was frustrating for him, because he was still watching the red head, even if he was
quite unhappy with him. Mitani just had that kind of air to him.
Still staring at the bed, his mind started to contemplate things. The bed was metal, and that could
have been a big mistake for their captors. If the bes sts stronger than the bars, which he prayed
they were, they could slam the bed against the window and bend the bars enough to get out and
run like hell.
“Mitani, I have a plan.”

Two hours later, when the man who had their food for the day left for them, they ate what they
could and started to work on Waya’s plan. Mitani sighed, skeptical. Sadly for him, though, he
had no better plan. All he could do was hope that it worked, so they could get out, and then go
back to their normal lives of never seeing each other again.
A sweat broke out on Mitani’s forehead as he and the brunette labored on getting the bed where
they needed it to be. His muscled ached with a fiery burn when they had it in exactly the right
spot. Mitani sighed and took a few minutes to breathe, looking at Waya, who was seeming to
have no problem with doing this. He sighed, and tried to let it go. So what if Waya was in peak
physical condition? So what if Waya was attractive, more so than he? It was all irrelevant to him.
The guy could be dumb as a post at times.
Finally, they pushed the bed over, and heard the shatter of glass and the creak of metal bending.
The two groaned loudly as they pulled the bed up, to see that both the bars and the bed were bent.
Waya took the first few steps and crawled out, grinning. It had worked! They were out!
He pulled Mitani out, so they could run down the sidewalk that was around the large hut. They
heard yelling, and Mitani panicked, looking at Waya scaredly. The brunette took the initiative to
start the running. He grabbed the redhead’s pale wrist and started running as quick as he could,
dragging the redhead along with him.
Mitani panted heavily as they ran, feeling like his lungs were about to burst and fall apart right
inside his thin body. The heated rush of running plus the cold burst of the arouaround them made
him dizzy, and he just wanted to sit down and rest, but Waya would not let him. He also knew
that if he were to rest then, he would get them both caught. So he ran along with Waya, his head
spinning out of control.
Finally they reached a small river where they could hide their tracks, since their rushing had
made them leave their footprints in the thin layer of snow that had covered the ground. Waya
grinned and flung Mitani on his rear, making him slide down the river with a squeak.
“That was rude!” he hissed as Waya followed suit.
“Do you want to get caught because they found out where we were because of footprints?”
The redheaded boy kept silent, still seething. They didn’t even have time to get his blanket, and
he was cold! They slipped and slid around the small creek for a while, until Waya pulled him up
and off, grinning.
“No snow here! We’re good for now.” Waya looked quite proud of himself, and Mitani refused
to admit to himself that he was proud of the idiot brunette for once too.
“You must pay attention to your action movies,” Mitani said dryly as they walked along, him
shivering again. Waya rolled his eyes, but said nothing. They walked for a little while, and then
Mitani’s eyes grew hopeful as they saw a small cabin on a hill.
“Is that what I think it is?” he asked, looking at it as if it were a dream.
“I hope so!” Waya grinned and ran over there. “It is! We’re saved!”
“No, I’m still with you,” Mitani said, actually joking for once. Waya chuckled and pulled him up
there. The redhead could almost hear the ‘alleluias’ chorusing through the woods as they neared
the fabled contraption of the rusted cabin.
Waya grinned and picked the lock, opening the door. Mitani stepped inside and frowned.
“It’s colder in here than it is out there!”
“Fine, fine, I know when you want me to do work,” Waya said with a sigh, and went off to get
wood.

Two hours and picking through the cabin later, both boys were cozied up in a large blanket,
watching the fire glow with boredom. Mitani sighed and bit into another sausage that they’d
found.
“I am bored,” he said, sighing.
“Aren’t you tired after all that running?”
“No.”
“Good, me either.”
Mitaookeooked at his companion with a blank expression. This boy was so confusing!
“Why is that so good?”
“Because of this.”
Waya grinned and leaned down, pressing his lips to the other boy’s, sealing their fates for the
night.
