The Path Home
The Path Home.
After thinking about it for a quite some time, Hikaru decided to take the path to his left. He took a few deep breath and strolls down toward the rather empty road. “Probably Mitani’s right… Touya must have been depressed if he raw away like that… poor boy…” Hikaru whispered to himself.
“I just hope he’s still alive… After all, Touya is a worthy opponent…” A voice rang on Hikaru’s ear.
“You think so, Sai ?” Hikaru looked at the towering ghost who walked behind him. “Wait a minute… where were you ? Why don’t you say anything when Mitani told me that news ?”.
“Heh… I was lost in my thought as well…” Sai replied. He picked his pace slightly to walk side by side with his human companion.
“I’m sorry.. we didn’t stop at that Go salon…” Hikaru smiled at the ghost. However, Hikaru’s eyes were not smiling, they were still in saddened expression.
“I understand, Hikaru. You can’t play well either if you’re distracted like this…” Sai smiled cheerfully.
“I wonder though if we should go to that park…”
“I don’t think that would help with anything… “
“You’re probably right, Sai… let’s go home…”. Hikaru sighed.

“Ah Hikaru !!.” Hikaru’s mother beamed as she saw her son.
“Mum… “ Hikaru mumbled.
“Someone was there, Hikaru. He said he was looking for you.”
“Who’s he, mum ?”
“I didn’t ask his name. But he was looking very weak and battered. So I told him to take a nice hot shower and tell him to rest on the guest room. He’s sleeping now, I think”.
“Hmm.. I’ll check him out” Hikaru walked toward the guest room and opened the door. To his surprise, he found none other than… “TOUYA ?!?!?”.
“Mrrmmm…. Eh ?” Touya was sleeping on the guest bed. He turned ad asd as he heard someone yelling his name. “Shindou….” Slowly. Touya pulled himself up and sat down on the bed.
“Touya ?.. What’s wrong ?... I looked at the newspaper –“.
“Newspaper ? Funny, I never knew you read one…” Touya smirked slightly.
“Ugh ! That wasn’t the point !... The newspaper said that you’re missing !!” Hikaru scowled at the boy with dark green hair.
“I’m not missing… I just make myself seems to be missing” Touya sighed and leaned against the wall, still sitting on the bed.
“Eh ?... Touya ?... What’s wrong ?” Hikaru blinked and sat down on the bed.
“Dad… he.. he was just a big jerk… I can’t believe it… He .. he…”.
Just then, Hikaru noticed tears rolling down on Touya’s cheek. “Oh shoot…. Sai. What should I do ? I never got someone crying next to me !” Hikaru asked Sai mentally.
“Just cheer him up…” Sai replied, sweatdropping slightly at his companion’s lack of tact
Hikaru shifted closer to Touya stiffly. He looked at the other boy as if Touya was going to explode like an active A-bomb. ”T.. Touya ?”.
Suddenly, Touya launched himself and hugged Hikaru with all of his might, causing Hikaru choke for air slightly. “He was upset and yelled at me all the time because he lost a game against Sai !”.
Hikaru’s eyes bulged instantly and so does Sai’s eyes. “S..Sai… “.
“No comment… Arimazen…” With that Sai trailed off.
“UH !.. I hate when he does that…” Hikaru growled mentally and turned his attention to his crying friend. He wrapped his arms around Touya’s back and gave the other boy stiff pats. “Touya… what’s happened exactly ?” Hikaru asked his sobbing rival.
Touya tried to calm himself down as he told Hikaru the entire story. “Dad was very upset when he got beaten by Sai… He locked himself in his study room and keeps on playing by himself. Every time we made noise, he would yell at us…” Touya paused. “T… then he called me a worthless child just because I accidentally dropped my Goban… It wasn’t my fault, my hands were slippery !”.
“Y.. your dad is probably tensed… Let him be for few days. I think he will be a bit better….” Hikaru whispered.
“You don’t understand, Shindou…. I was still around the home when the news says that I’m missing…. My dad was even more furious…” Touya shakes his head. Slowly he pulled himself from the hug and leaned against the wall. “M… Maybe I should disappear for a week or two…”.
“Don’t be silly… Where would you go ?” Hikaru shakes his head and sits next to Touya, also against the wall.
Suddenly Sai pops in, “Here !! We can play Go !!” He beamed around.
“Shindou…. No Hikaru…. Can I stay here for awhile ?” Touya turned his head and looked at Hikaru.
Hikaru gulped. He knew the look Touya gave him just too well. It was the look when Sai wanted to play with him, it was also the look where he wanted ramen badly, it was a longing look. Knowing he has no way out of this, Hikaru nodded, “I…I’ll see what I can do”.
“Thank you… Hikaru…” Touya smiled weakly and throws himself into Hikaru.
“Eh ? T.. Touya ?”.
“I love you, Hikaru….”.
“W.. W. W-“.
“Thank you…” Slowly Touya lay himself down against Hikaru’s chest, nuzzling into the other boy.
“Y.. You’re welcome…” Hikaru blinked and give Touya a soft pat on the back.
Touya Akira finally returned to his home after two weeks. He was warmly welcomed by his family as his father, Touya Kouyo, recovered from the depression he had. However, something else happened during Akira’s stay in Hikaru’s home. The two were getting closer toward each other not only in the term of Go, but also in the term of feeling…
