Disclaimer: I do not own Witch Hunter Robin, nor any of the characters from it. I do not make any money from the writing of this story. |
Witch Hunter Robin and its characters don’t belong to me
in anyway, shape or form.
Basic angst fic, but with some sweet fluff tossed in I think too. Amon/Robin non-lemon (hey it happens from
time to time) set ten years after the end of the series.
Enjoy

An angel. That is what she reminded him of whenever he watched her sleep. Her
child-sized fist curled up against her temple, lids shut with ease over sea
blue eyes and wisps of sable brown hair that framed her face even as the rest
of it fanned out across her pillow; an angel, his, angel.
“She missed you tonight.”
Straightening his body from where it was leaned against the doorframe of his
daughter’s room, Amon looked over at the woman beside him.
“It couldn’t be helped, Robin. My client is very particular. You know being a
gun for hire can require long hours.” Even as he spoke intensely, he searched
her soulful eyes, his tension easing somewhat as he saw them soften.
“It’s okay. I told her you’d be here when she woke up.” Her smile was thin but
honest as she took his hand in her own, her voice hitching a tone higher as she
changed the subject. “Have you eaten tonight?”
“My client treated me to dinner. I’m fine.”
His wife nodded her head and remained silent, though by her sudden solemn
expression, Amon knew something was wrong. He tugged on her hand and stopped
her in her tracks, the force of the motion twirling her around so that she now
faced him, though she kept her eyes averted from his.
“What happened Robin, Daryn didn’t…did she?”
“I stopped her before anyone noticed. Everyone thinks it was a freak accident.”
Throwing her hand hastily aside the tall dark male stormed past his wife and
back outside into the cool night air. Robin yelled after him but did not try to
stop him. There was no stopping Amon, especially when he was in one of his
moods. She remained still and calm however, not even feeling the need to cry,
after ten years she was used to the darkness that always seemed to lurk deep
within his soul. It was a darkness that had lifted somewhat since Daryn’s
birth, but as with any storm forever on the horizon, threatening to open up at
any time.
The awkward feel in the air was shattered when she heard Daryn’s voice asking
where her daddy was. Kneeling down until she was at her eye level, she tried
her best to smile. “Daddy forgot something. He’ll be back soon.”
Rubbing her eyes, the six year old could not hold back her yawn as she told her
mother she had another bad dream. So collecting her daughter in her arms, she
carried the tiny girl with her into the master bedroom, where she laid her down
under the covers, and then curled up beside her; within minutes both were
asleep.
Pulling the collar of his jacket together to fight off the chilly breeze, Amon
could not help but hold back his frustrations as his pace quickened. Rarely
ever was he one to lose control of his emotions, but when it came to matters
that concerned his child he always found himself struggling with his feelings.
Having grown to love her over the last six-years had made him ashamed to even
think that when he first found out Robin was pregnant that he had tried to
persuade her to get rid of the baby. But being the strong, stubborn and
determined young woman that she was, she had refused, even telling Amon that he
could get the hell out of her sight. That she would go away and raise the child
on her own without his support.
Never had she asked him stay, to be husband or a father. The decision to
remain, whether it was from pride, sense of duty, love for Robin or all three
had been of his own choosing. A choice to this day that he could honestly say
he had never regretted. Witnessing Daryn’s birth, living life again through her
experiences from baby to child had eased his soul and quieted his spirit and
given him a sense of peace he had not known since he himself was a small child,
before his life was torn apart from the realization of what his mother was and
how such a truth had pierced all of his innocent illusions about life.
But now not only had he had a mother for a witch, but a wife who was one as
well, and now their daughter had started exhibiting signs of the craft. Signs
that signified that she would indeed become more powerful than even her own
mother who was bred to be the ultimate craft user. Witchcraft. That which had
ultimately ruined his life had given one to him just the same. Pure irony.
An uncharacteristic chuckle leapt from his throat as he spun around, his right
fist flying right into the trunk of a tree. Blue light sizzled from his hand
and his knuckles felt hot from the electricity that he had generated from his
body. Yes, it was true, after years of dormancy, the cursed blood that ran
through his veins had finally sprung to life, powers that had only added to
that of their daughter's when she was born two years after their emergence. How
her powers would develop and how much stronger she would become by adulthood he
and Robin did not know.
Shouts from behind shocked him back to reality and he instinctively jumped
behind the same tree he had burned. Peeking out with wide eyes, he saw running
past him a frightened man, who looked at least in his fifties. Behind him were
three others. Two men and a woman, and catching the site of their uniforms,
Amon knew that they were STN. Even though he and Robin had fled Japan, STN was
still worldwide, even in America where they had existed for the last three
years. Canada had been their home three years prior to that, and before then it
had been South America.
He took off in the opposite direction, toward his home, his thoughts now
focused solely on getting back to his family. Within minutes he found himself
through the front door, his breathing heavy, but his mind more at ease seeing
that everything in his home was calm and undisturbed. He shrugged off his
jacket, throwing it casually over the couch as he made his way into their bedroom.
He smiled slightly at the scene of his wife and daughter curled up together,
deep in sleep. So slipping off his shoes he stepped quietly over to the bed,
sliding in gently onto the other side. He knew not what the future held, but
for the past decade, constant moves, aliases and changes in appearance had
helped them steer clear of the STN, but the male witch knew also that one day
they may indeed eventually get caught, and on that day, he would chose to kill
his wife, his child and himself, rather than to have them suffer the
consequences.
But those were thoughts that he would force out of his mind tonight as he
gingerly pushed his body until his daughter’s back was pressed against his
chest. And with one arm under his pillow and the other placed delicately over
Daryn and Robin’s bodies he closed his eyes, feeling complete and at peace with
his two ladies beside him, his angels.
