The Invitations
Chapter Three: The Invitations
That evening our heroes walked into the Blackthorn City Pokémon Center and were greeted by Nurse Joy. She had a large envelope with all their names carefully written in calligraphy across the middle for them.
“Here you go, this came in just a few minutes ago, a Pidgeotto delivered it, in fact he belonged to a very prestigious family out in Kanto.” Remarked Nurse Joy.
“What is it Ash?” Asked Misty, who had to stand on her tiptoes in order to look over her boyfriends shoulder.
(Oh, pretty!) Squeaked the egg shaped Pokémon.
(I bet it\'s only jury duty.) Grunted a bored Pikachu.
“Hmm, looks really fancy and official.” Brock commented with his hand rubbing the short stubble that was on his chin.
“Yeah… um let\'s see.” Ash said as he carefully opened the envelope. “Hey! It\'s a wedding invitation!”
“Huh? From who?” Asked Misty wondering who they knew that could possibly be getting married.
(Maybe it\'s Delia and Samuel, he, he!) Pikachu laughed mostly to himself and Togepi.
“I should be getting married!” Shouted Brock angrily. The poor breeder dropped his head and pulled out a small velvet box from his vest taking small glances at Nurse Joy. “It\'s so not fair… it\'s not fair… it\'s so not fair.”
(It\'s only unfair to the unlucky girl you marry!) Togepi trilled. She wished her powers were strong enough to send Brock to another country or more preferably planet.
“This is weird, it\'s from Jesse and James.” Ash said. He had a perplexed look on his face, which was slowly turning into one of disgust.
“What? Those two are getting hitched?” Shouted Misty in surprise.
“Everybody\'s getting married except for me!” Cried Brock, who was now crouched in the corner as if someone had said “that name” or to the rest of us Professor Ivy. “It\'s not fair… it\'s not fair…”
“Oh man, I was just getting used to Gary and Tracey being married and now Team Rocket is tying the knot.” Sighed Ash.
“The only knots those three losers should be tying are the one\'s on the ropes they should be hanging themselves with!” The red head yelled.
(Oh God, Team Rocket?) The electric mouse looked up to the ceiling searching for an answer.
(Don\'t use God\'s name in the same sentence with Team Rocket.) Sighed Togepi, who wondered if this was indeed the end of the world.
“Well, um, do you think that we should go? I mean the Johto League Championships are in two weeks, if we go back to Kanto that\'s really out of our way.” Ash explained as he looked over a map and a date book. He only had to beat the Elite Four and Lance who was the Champion and then he would be the new champion, but not yet a Master.
“You have a point there Ash.” Said Brock who decided to stand back up and join the conversation, after putting away his boxed engagement ring.
“Well, we do have two weeks before the competition, and the wedding is in three days, I think we can make it.” Misty said as she grabbed the invitation out of Ash\'s hands. “They want me to be the maid of honor, and Ash the best man, and oh… Pikachu the ring barer and oh… Togepi the flower girl! How cute! We definitely have to go!”
“What about me?” Asked Brock.
“You just watch.” Misty said shoving him away.
“This is all too weird, how do we know it\'s not some stupid trap to catch Pikachu?” Yelled Ash.
(Yeah like that\'ll even happen…) Pikachu sighed and rolled his cute brown eyes.
“Ash, I know Team Rocket is low, but they wouldn\'t fake a wedding! Besides look at the address, it\'s James\' family estate.” Misty explained.
“Well, Misty… Ash has a point, but still, it\'s pretty official looking, we\'ll go, and if it\'s a trap, we\'ll get out of it, we always do!” Brock explained. “And there will be hundreds of beautiful single girls like there always are at weddings! And I\'ll be the first one to get the angel that catches the bouquet!”
“Um… right, anyway I guess we should go then.” Ash sighed looking at his two best friends. Misty was busy trying to pulverize Brock as he danced around like an idiot.
(Hey don\'t I get a say in this?) Pikachu folded his arms across his chest and was staring at Ash in disbelief.
(Who cares, free cake!) Togepi jumped up and down trying to get her “big brother” to dance along.

Meanwhile at Gary and Tracey\'s house in Pallet Town, the Oak family had just received their invitation.
“Oh Gary sweetheart!” Tracey squealed as he ran into the living room.
“Yes Love?” Answered Gary. He pulled the young man into his lap and gave him a kiss on his cheek.
“We received an invitation from Jesse and James of Team Rocket, they\'re getting married. They invited us and the twins to the wedding, it\'s in three days.” Explained Tracey remembering the crazy group, who followed them around the Orange Islands in a Magikarp submarine.
“Wow really? Tom! Ann! Come here babies!”
“Yes Daddy Gary?” They asked together as they skipped in holding hands.
“We need to go clothes shopping, we\'re going to a wedding in a few days.”
“Yay!” They exclaimed excitedly. Tom and Ann loved going shopping with their fathers, especially Gary. He had such a great fashion sense, but what they loved most was going to all the gothic and punk shops in Saffron City. All their clothes were black; it was their favorite color. They jumped onto the couch and into their fathers\' arms.
“This is gonna be so fun!” Tracey said happily while hugging his loving family.

The mailman came and went on his red bicycle and handed Mrs. Ketchum the large envelope. Obviously the Pidgeotto had delivered it to the Pallet Town Post Office instead of straight to the Ketchum residence.
“Hmm… a wedding!” Cried Delia joyfully as she ran back into the house to inform her guest. “Samuel! Guess who\'s getting married?”
“Oh, no don\'t tell me Ash and Misty are going to elope!” The elderly man nearly dropped his cup of tea.
“No, no… you know those two friends of Ash\'s from that club Team Rocket? We\'ll they\'re getting married and they invited us! The weddings in three days!”
“Oh ok then, as long as it\'s not Ash and Misty!” Professor Oak laughed. And the two went back to enjoying their tea and cookies.
