I love Saori and think highly of her, but I make her a
little flighty for humor. She's so serious all the time, she needs some
fun. Disclaimer: I don't own Saint Seiya.

Chapter 3 – Vision of the Past
“I need to call Saori, she wasn’t available
when I tried to get a hold of her earlier.” Shiryu made his way to the
payphone. He dug around in his pockets for coins. He was wearing a stylish
suit, charcoal gray and very expensive. His life had taken the most dramatic
twists and turns of any of theirs.
He married Shunrei when they were only twenty,
the raven haired beauty he had grown up with. Two years later she died while
giving birth to their first child. The baby died as well, leaving Shiryu a
devastated man. He was inconsolable for three years, dedicating his life to
suffering alone.
Saori hated to see him in pain and sent for him
to return to Japan. She offered him a position in the Kido Foundation. Shiryu
left China, the home where he and Shunrei had lived since they were children and
moved back into the mansion. He took his job very seriously and quickly became
a Senior Vice President. Now, he ran the company, he was the President.
Saori watched him throw himself into his work
for two years before she finally managed to get him a social life. She took him
to parties, introduced him to eligible women and even set him up on blind
dates. However, Shiryu remained emotionally closed off to love and kept up his
workaholic pace.
Then the strangest thing happened. Saori took
Shiryu on a ski trip in the States with the intention of introducing him to yet
another one of her acquaintances. When they returned from their week long
excursion, Shiryu had a broken arm and he and Saori were glued to each other
like two horny teenagers.
Apparently, Shiryu tried to stop Saori from
taking a nasty spill on the slopes and broke his arm the second day they were
there. He spent the rest of his time drinking hot chocolate and getting
pampered by the grateful goddess. As the story goes, one thing led to another
and they were madly in love by the end of the week.
They were married within six months of the trip
and have been happily together ever since. Shiryu and Saori made sure all the
Saints of Athena were financially taken care of, which is what allowed Aiko to
get her weekly beauty spa treatments.
Hyoga overheard Shiryu talking on the phone,
“Well, make sure you tell her as soon as you find her, it is important.” He
hung up the phone and returned to their little group. The door to the waiting
room flung open in a flash and they were all stunned to see an out of breath
Saori. Shiryu looked at the payphone, then back to his wife, utterly confused.
“Hyoga, where’s Shun?” She stammered out as
she tried to calm down. “He’s in surgery.” The blond stood to help her but
Shiryu beat him to it. “Saori, what in the world? You look like you just ran
all over Tokyo!” Shiryu sat her down while Seiya went to get her a cup of
water.
“I did! I felt Shun’s cosmos this morning, it
disappeared.” They all looked at Hyoga who was still unsure if he should tell
them that technically, Shun had died before the paramedics arrived. “I’ve been
running all over trying to find you. I was honing in on his cosmos after it
reappeared, using it as a beacon.”
“Why didn’t you just call one of us?” Shiryu
shook his head at his wife. Since she was the Goddess Athena, she sometimes
forgot to use modern technology over her acute senses. “Oh, I didn’t think of
that.” She blushed as he pulled her cell phone out of her pocket. “That’s why
I got you this! It’s not even on!” He fiddled with the phone, amused with her
flighty behavior. He gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, “Well, you’re here,
that’s all that matters.”
Seiya handed her some water and they filled her
in. After a few minutes, Hyoga stood up. “I think I need some fresh air, I’ve
been in here all morning.” He headed for the door and Kado rushed after him.
Seiya stopped the young man, “He needs some time alone, stay here with us.”
Kado nodded, sad to see his father so down.
Hyoga’s feet moved him from the waiting room to
the elevator. His mind was blank, lost in a haze. His body took him outside to
the front entrance without any conscious effort on his part. Seeing the blue
sky above him, he began walking in no particular direction, just walking. He
shoved his hands in his pockets, an old habit that had never left him.
It was a beautiful day. Birds chirped, kids
laughed as they played in a nearby playground, the grass was green and the sun
was shining in all its glory. It was the perfect day for many things, but not
for true love to die.
Hyoga rounded a corner on the sidewalk, a
vision stood before him. It was a lovely girl around sixteen, jet black hair
and big almond eyes. She was walking towards him, bopping to her headset which
blared J-Pop. She looked just like that girl, the one that he was so jealous
over when Shun brought her home. Hyoga smiled, but I’m glad he brought her
home, because that’s what triggered me to finally take action.
Shun’s Seventeenth Birthday – Hyoga 18, Shun 17
Saori had painstakingly prepared a birthday
party fit for a god for Shun. She went out of her way for all of them, but Shun
was always her favorite to spoil because he blushed and got overly excited. The
party was indoors since it was raining that September evening. Hyoga was
leaning against the drink bar, sipping on a glass of fine champagne. He
preferred beer, but Saori insisted he act a little more refined for the party.
Saori was not materialistic or obsessed with
status, but her family dynasty dictated her position in life and she needed to
keep up appearances. Therefore, the boys obliged her when she made small
requests. Of course, they never missed an opportunity to tease her about it
either. If only the socialites of the world really knew how down to earth and
sweet she really was, but they saw her as a savvy business woman.
The other Saints were mulling about, all
waiting for Shun to arrive. He was late which was unlike him. Hyoga looked at
all the people in the decorated room, half of them he did not know. Assuming
they were hoity toity friends of Saori, he mumbled under his breath as he took
another sip. Fifty people filled the ballroom, or as Seiya called it, the party
room. Balloons and paper lanterns hung everywhere creating a spectacular
atmosphere. Tiny lights twinkled around the edges of the room and a pile of
elegantly wrapped gifts filled a table in the corner.
Hyoga eyed the beer behind the bar figuring out
a way to sneak one past Saori’s wandering eyes. As he reached to snag a bottle
he heard everyone rustling around. He looked up to see Shun walking in the huge
double doors, looking like a model stepping onto the runway. The breath caught
in Hyoga’s throat as he viewed Shun’s delicate features, his slender arms, small
hands with long fingers that were laced with some girl’s fingers. Wait, what?
Hyoga’s jaw dropped when he saw the pretty girl
holding onto Shun’s hand as if she owned him. She smiled as Shun introduced her
to his guests. Hyoga’s quaint mood immediately shifted to mild anger and
jealousy. Who the hell was that girl? Shun made his way around the room,
heading in Hyoga’s direction.
Their eyes made contact and Shun waved, making
a beeline for him. Hyoga turned and walked away, his cheeks heating up from his
anger. He exited the room through a side door and found himself on the wet
balcony. He cursed himself for not making it to the door to the hallway because
now he had nowhere to go unless he vaulted over the railing. Black clouds hung
low in the air mirroring his mood, but had ceased dispensing rain for the time
being.
He had no right to be mad, there was nothing
between them. Yet, Hyoga found himself outraged that Shun would bring a date.
He had never been so jealous in his life. Shun poked his head around the door,
his body following. “Hyoga! There you are. Didn’t you see me?” Shun smiled,
hoping that Hyoga had not actually run away from him as it appeared.
“Huh? Oh, yeah.” Hyoga could not hold back
his irritation and sounded harsh. Shun looked hurt but approached him anyway,
the girl nowhere to be seen. “What’s wrong Hyoga?” Shun could see the dark
scowl on his friend’s face.
“Where’s your date?” Hyoga seethed, unable to
control himself. Even though there was nothing formal between them, they loved
each other, Hyoga was sure of it. Had he been wrong all these years? Was he
holding onto a dream that was only one sided? Shun’s eyes lit up, Hyoga was
jealous.
“She’s inside, her name is…” Hyoga cut him off,
not interested in knowing anything about her. “I don’t care what her name is.”
He was being as cold as his cosmos. Shun took a step back as Hyoga glared at
him. “Why are you being like this?” Shun’s voice was shaky. His best friend
was acting like he hated him.
“If you don’t know, then I guess it doesn’t
matter.” Hyoga turned his back to him and looked at the railing, seriously
considering jumping to the ground. He could easily make it, he was trained in
such things, but it would be mean to ditch him. Shun moved behind him, his hand
reaching out to touch Hyoga’s shoulder.
“I do know.” Shun’s touch was gentle and Hyoga
shivered, not wanting to be comforted. “Then if you know, why is she here?”
Hyoga hissed. Shun dropped his hand from Hyoga’s shoulder and sighed, “Because,
in all these years, you haven’t done anything.” Shun sounded sad and started to
walk away.
Hyoga heard him, heard what he was really
saying. He whipped around, grabbing Shun’s wrist. He pulled the younger boy
into his chest so Shun had to tilt his head up to look at him. “Shun.” Hyoga
murmured while staring deep into his friend’s eyes. He was hesitating, not sure
if he could actually cross the line. “Hyoga…” Shun whispered as his heart
pounded.
This was it, his chance to finally have him.
Hyoga lowered his head to Shun’s. Their noses rubbed against each other as he
angled his face to capture the lips that had taunted him for almost four years.
It was perfect, it was exactly as he always imagined. Hyoga let his tongue
loose in search of Shun’s.
They had grown quite a bit in the last few
years, Hyoga topping out at six feet while Shun was five foot seven. Their
slight height difference made Shun strain his neck upwards. Hyoga wrapped his
hand around the back of Shun’s head, holding him close while his tongue explored
his luscious mouth. It was finally happening.
Shun’s hands tugged at the back of Hyoga’s
shirt, trying to pull him closer as they kissed under the overcast sky. All
those years of pent up sexual frustration, wet dreams, daydreams, fantasies and
self-pleasuring did not come close to the feeling this one kiss provided. It
was one of the greatest moments of both their lives.
Shun whimpered when Hyoga pulled out of the
kiss to gaze into his eyes. “My date is going to be jealous.” Shun said making
Hyoga laugh. “Where did you find her?” He inquired. “She’s one of Saori’s
rich friends.” Shun smiled, still holding onto the back of the blond’s dress
shirt.
“Did you get all dressed up for me?” Shun
flirted, admiring how Hyoga looked in black dress pants and a baby blue button
up shirt. “Don’t flatter yourself, Saori wouldn’t let me near the party unless
I was dressed to impress.” Hyoga smiled, flirting back. Of course he had
painstakingly dressed up for Shun.
Shun was wearing gray pants with a black
pullover sweater, cashmere from the looks of it. Hyoga felt the material
between his fingers. “Where did you get this?” He asked wondering if Little
Miss Date had given it to him. “Saori. She said I couldn’t possibly go on a
date with her friend in my suspenders.” They both laughed, knowing how Saori
was always trying to help their fashion sense.
“Is it okay that I kissed you?” Hyoga suddenly
became shy. “Yes, I’ve been waiting for eons for you to kiss me. I thought I’d
die an old man before it ever happened.” Shun admitted, relieved that he was
not mistaken about Hyoga’s feelings. Hyoga kissed him again quickly, not
wanting to keep Shun’s guest waiting while they made out on the balcony.
However, all he wanted to do was whisk the birthday boy away and ravage him
until the sun rose.
“Your guests await.” Hyoga bowed and held out
his arm as if Shun was royalty. Shun blushed and slowly headed back inside,
leaving Hyoga. “Are you coming?” He asked, standing in the doorway. “Not
right now. I’ll come in soon.” He looked into the horizon, inhaling the cool
night air through his nose.
“Hyoga.” Shun lingered, not wanting to depart
just yet. Hyoga turned around, “Yes?” He said, content after their kiss. “I
only brought her to make you jealous.” Shun grinned then dodged into the
mansion afraid of the Cygnus Saint’s wrath. The blond laughed at Shun’s
cleverness. He added that to the list of reasons why he loved the green haired
boy.
The list consisted of many things; sensitive,
loving, emotional, beautiful, sexy, funny, adorable, loyal, determined, smart,
strong, and now, clever. There were a hundred other qualities he loved about
Shun, everyday something else the boy did struck a chord in his heart. Everyday
he fell deeper in love with his best friend, and now, he had an opportunity to
make him more than just a friend.
Hyoga put his hands in his pockets and
retrieved the small gift he had made Shun for his birthday. He dared not put it
in the stack with all the other giant presents for it would surely disappear
into the gift wrap abyss. He would give it to Shun when they were alone.
It was a small piece of Charoite that he had
diligently chiseled into a small, round shield. It was a stone native to the
Russian plateau boasting vibrant light and dark swirls of purple. He had
brought it with him from Siberia years ago and only recently gotten the idea to
turn it into a gift for Shun. It had been his good luck charm in battle, and he
wanted Shun to have it.
He had it wrapped in a simple white box with a
blue ribbon around it. He had a store brought present on the gift table, a few
books Shun wanted. But this gift, it was special, not something that could be
purchased. He put it back in his pocket, eager to give it to Shun later. It
started to drizzle again and the rain loomed nearby so Hyoga retreated back to
the party.
***
Later that night, Hyoga sat in the library
alone, tired and a little buzzed from drinking. Who knew a few glasses of
champagne could have such a kick. He unbuttoned his shirt a few notches and
relaxed into a soft leather chair. Shun had mingled and talked with everyone,
he played the sociable host. Hyoga chatted only with his friends and stayed
away from all the faces he did not recognize.
He had noticed that girl had taken a liking to
Seiya which got her unpleasant vibes from Miho. Shun let her wander off, not
really caring what she did or who she flirted with, it was only Hyoga he was
interested in. They made eye contact throughout the evening, sharing candid
smiles and looks of acknowledgement.
Hyoga rubbed his eyes, still questioning
whether or not the kiss on the balcony was real or an illusion of his mind. His
fantasies about Shun had become so vivid that he did not doubt he could have
imagined the whole experience. He would find out soon enough as he had motioned
for Shun to join him then slipped out of the party.
The door to the library opened and Hyoga looked
up to see his dreams were in fact a reality. Shun made his way over to the
blond, his eyes speaking without having to say a word. He crawled into Hyoga’s
lap like a child and rested his head on the rock hard chest in front of him.
Hyoga brushed Shun’s hair with his hand,
totally aroused by the teen sitting in his lap. Lifting Shun off him for a
second, Hyoga retrieved the gift out of his pants pocket, holding it out to the
birthday boy. “This is for you. Happy birthday Shun.” Hyoga smiled as Shun
held the box in his hand. “But you already got me a gift.” Shun murmured as he
daintily untied the satin ribbon.
“I know, but this is your real present.” Hyoga
watched him take the lid off. His fingers pulled back the soft cotton packaging
and found the Charoite shield. Shun opened his eyes wide, a look of awe on his
face. “Did you carve this yourself?”
“Yeah. It has been my good luck charm and I
wanted you to have it. Think of it as a little piece of me always there to
protect you.” Hyoga did not realize how cheesy his well thought out line would
sound until he actually said it. Shun threw his arms around Hyoga’s neck,
holding him close. “This is the best gift I’ve ever received. Thank you.”
Hyoga blushed, a little embarrassed at Shun’s
reaction, but pleased beyond comprehension. “You’re welcome.” Shun relaxed his
embrace and sat in Hyoga’s lap sideways, looking at him. “You’ve made this the
most incredible birthday I’ve ever had.” Shun said quietly, his eyes twinkling.
“Nah, it was Saori’s party!” Hyoga was still
feeling shy from all the attention and laughed. “The party was nice, but it was
you Hyoga. You made my night perfect.” Shun’s face was moving closer and
closer as he spoke. Hyoga took the bait and snagged Shun’s lips with his own.
There was nothing more important than their kiss at that moment, nothing
greater.
Their mouths moved together gently in a tender
kiss meant to display affection over passion. Closing their eyes, they were
left to experience their new level of friendship through the sense of touch.
Hyoga’s hands rested on Shun’s hips while Shun cupped the blond’s face, holding
him like he was a priceless porcelain doll.
They paused the kiss, resting their foreheads
against one another. “Shun. I’ve wanted you for so long, I don’t know what to
do now that you’re actually here.” Hyoga spoke intimately as a peck was placed
on the tip of his nose. “I know what you mean, I feel the same way.” Shun
dropped another kiss on Hyoga’s face, this time on the side of his mouth.
Hyoga responded by taking Shun’s hands off his
face and lowering them, his own fingers trailing along Shun’s jaw. With a
gentle pull, he claimed Shun’s lips again, the tenderness replaced with
passion. The younger Saint squirmed in his lap, trying to twist his body to
face Hyoga.
With a few quick movements, Hyoga placed his
hands under Shun’s ass, holding onto him as he stood up. Without Shun’s feet
hitting the floor, he wrapped his legs around his waist and Hyoga sat back down,
this time Shun straddling him. It was easy with his extraordinary strength,
allowing the maneuver to be fluid and simple.
Shun curled up on his knees, tucking his calves
next to Hyoga’s thighs. Unavoidably, they were wrinkling both pairs of dress
pants, but they did not care. Hyoga ran his hands underneath Shun’s black
sweater and found a t-shirt still in the way. He tugged the shirt out of Shuns
pants, his hands finally making contact with the soft skin. The Andromeda Saint
made a soft noise as Hyoga’s fingers caressed the sides of his abdomen.
Wanting the same sort of contact, Shun undid
the rest of the buttons on Hyoga’s crisp shirt. His hands slithered under the
cloth and he pressed his palms into the well muscled chest feeling the heat
emanating from Hyoga’s torso.
“I have to take that girl home.” Shun
mumbled. Hyoga laughed at Shun’s disappointed tone, “Well, she is your date.
The least you could do is return her to where ever it is you found her.” Hyoga
smirked, pleased with his funny comment. “But I don’t want to go.” Shun whined
in an adorable voice.
“How about…you take her home now, before things
get too heated up between us and I’ll take you on a date tomorrow night?” Hyoga
grazed his teeth along Shun’s bottom lip as he offered the suggestion. “A
date? Really?! Okay, I’ll take her home.” Shun bounded off Hyoga’s lap and
bolted for the door.
“You’re easy to convince.” Hyoga smiled as he
started to button his shirt back up. Shun whirled back around halfway to the
door, returning to his seated friend. He leaned over and kissed Hyoga on the
cheek. “Thank you again for the best birthday ever!” Hyoga had to resist
pulling him back into his lap, he could spend hours just sitting there making
out with Shun.
Shun darted off again, this time leaving.
Hyoga waited a few minutes, then adjourned for the evening to his room, tired
and content. It was a spectacular night after all.
Present Day
The girl disappeared around the corner and
Hyoga lightly smiled remembering Shun’s birthday party all those years ago. He
was so grateful for Shun bringing that girl, the one with the pretty hair, the
one that made him crazy with jealousy. To this day, he still did not know her
name, but supposed it did not really matter. The nameless girl would be forever
etched into his memory as the start of their relationship.
Hyoga took a minute to focus on Shun’s cosmos
to see if it was still burning. Tuning in, he found it was there, but faint,
probably since he was in surgery. Taking another few minutes, the blond walked
around the hospital campus before heading back inside. He smirked to himself
remembering that night and how Shun slipped into his room and into his bed.
Ah, Shun, it was a most memorable night indeed.
