They heard snickers at the door and all three looked over towards the sounds.
"Shigure, you have an audience," Ha'ri announced as Shigure so eagerly tried to get out of the kiss from the bed.
Nami held onto Ha'ri's waist as she saw Tohru smiling. "You can come on in, guys. I don't bite," she smiled.
"Oh, well we just wanted to say good night, Nami. It seems you are doing pretty well. Do you feel better than earlier?"
"Yes, very much so, Tohru. Thank you for your concern."
Tohru and Nami smiled at each other. Shigure sat up and frowned as she saw Nami and Ha'ri together.
"Well, I think we better be getting back to bed. Aya, you should stay with Ha'ri and Nami for tonight. I'm sure that they will be needing you by the end of the night," Shigure stated as he ushered everyone out of the room.
After everyone was gone, Nami looked to Ha'ri and smiled. "This doesn't change anything, Ha'ri. I still have to tell them and go back to the Main House tomorrow."
"That's okay, Nami. Take your time. But, didn't you say you needed to take a bath?"
She nodded and the two left the room with Aya busy looking and thinking.
Ha'ri helped her into the water as he covered her with a towel. She winced at the heat of the water as it touched her side wound, but she kept her broken arm out of the water. He took a sponge, got it wet in the tub water, and started to bathe her.
"Ha'ri, you are so good to me. I have a question. Would it have made any more of a difference if Akito allowed you and Kana to marry? Would you still be the same sweet Ha'ri?" she asked half asleep.
He looked at her and smiled. No one had really ever called anyone other than Yuki sweet in the family. It was nice hearing someone tell him he was sweet.
"I'm not sure, Nami. I may have become bitter and sad like Akito. Or, I could have become someone I would have been proud of, but with no other choice, I chose that of which Akito told me. I gave up my happiness so that our family secret could stay just that, a secret. I guess, in a way, Kana and I are still in love. It's just something that wasn't really meant to be, Nami," he said, stroking her face with the sponge.
"If it were me, I would have let you have your desire, Ha'ri. I was at Kana's wedding. She may have been what they call a Blushing Bride, but there was a spot deep down inside where she really missed you, Ha'ri. I could tell it in her eyes," Nami said, laying her head back on the edge of the tub as she fell asleep.
Ha'ri took her long brown hair, washed it, allowed the water to drain out of the tub, covered her with a towel, picked her up and put her clothes on her. He gently called for Shigure and he helped Ha'ri carry Nami back to the guest room.
"She's so beautiful when she's sleeping," Shigure spoke seriously.
Ha'ri couldn't say no to his cousin. "That's true. Usually, all women look beautiful when they are asleep, Shigure."
"But this is not an ordinary woman. This is our Head of the Household. She's wonderful and I just wish Akito were here to see how beautiful she looks," he spoke.
"He's seen her many times sleeping. Arrangements were made for her per his request. She slept in the adjoining room in the Main House so that he could keep an eye on her. Too bad that she had to lose him and take his place in the same day," Ha'ri said, sighing.
"I guess Tohru was right, Ha'ri. It's a shame that Akito is gone. I really do miss the brooding, conniving, evil twerp."
Ha'ri looked at Shigure. "Better watch it. This woman is that twerp's only chance of true survival."
Shigure looked at his friend. "And what is that supposed to mean?"
Ha'ri smirked. "You will have to wait and find out like the rest of them," he taunted.
"You are her doctor, and I am your cousin. Come on and tell me what you mean, Ha'ri," Shigure whined.
Aya, who had been in the kitchen, came back to the room.
"Oh, the poor girl must have been extremely tired. I guess it was a good thing that she isn't part of the Zodiac. But still, Ha'ri you ought to be ashamed of yourself, giving the girl a bath without my knowledge."
Ha'ri sighed. He was stuck in the same room with two weirdoes and all he wanted was to allow Nami some sleep.
"Well, Aya, if you want to go brood about it, there's a living room or another guest room around somewhere you can go. But I'm going to keep an eye on my charge," Ha'ri said as he pushed the other two out of the room and locked the door.
He walked over to Nami, pulled the covers down, opened her yukata once more, took a look at the sutures, opened his satchel, pulled out another piece of gauze, and dressed her wound. After he did that, Ha'ri closed the kimono, covered her back up, turned off the light and sat on the floor next to her bed as he turned on a lamp.
He sat on the hard floor, watching, as she slept, the angel that softened the hard-hearted Akito. He admired her for her insistence, even though it caught up with her in the end.
She slept with her injured arm across her stomach and the other arm at her side. Nami would make small movements with her hands, but nothing more than that.
"I wonder what she's dreaming about," Ha'ri softly said aloud.
Akito and Nami are walking along the cobblestone walk that surrounds the Main House hand in hand. The two were smiling, Nami's smile radiant and Akito's small but loving.
"Nami, you are a beautiful girl. I thank you for taking my offer and living in the Sohma House. There has always been something I've wanted to know and you have to be the one to tell me straightly," he said stopping in the middle of the walk and looking at her directly in the eye.
"Yes, Akito?" she said as he put his finger under her chin and brought her eyes to meet his.
"Why did you accept my offer? Is there something that draws you to this place," he asked her.
"Well, not so much this place as it is the wonder that you asked me to join you. The idea of you asking an outsider to live in the same house with you is strange a bit, you have to admit. It's given me the chance to get to know you better and I like who I've found a friend in, so it is I who should be thanking you for requesting myself for this occasion," she said smiling and blushing.
"Well, I have to say this one thing, Nami. Before you say anything more, you must know that I am to die at 21. It's the family's decision and I have come to accept it. I would like to have someone carry on my life, in a ways, if you can understand what I mean," he spoke, his voice becoming very intense as he smiled. "Would you be so profitable as to grace me with your company tonight after dinner in my room? There are some things I would like to discuss with you."
Nami blushed at the last three sentences he had spoken to her and she smiled. She couldn't speak for at least 10 or twenty seconds. When she did finally gather the courage to answer, she smiled.
"I would be glad to be of any help to you, Akito. I've always been here, all you have to do is ask," she said, giggling.
Akito nodded and the two continued with their walking down the walk towards Ha'ri's house.
"Oh, is it tfor for your checkup, already? It's been a month, already," she questioned, a little out of her mind at the moment.
"Oh, no, we're just going for a visit to Ha'ri. My check up is next week. There's nothing to be afraid of. Ha'ri is very gentle
perhaps a little too gentle," Akito smiled.
Nami giggled. "I've never heard of anyone being too gentle."
"Well, you remind me of him. Only he is so stiff and the way he walks is strange, but I guess that's because of all the torment I've brought to him," Akito said, his head falling.
Nami caught him by the chin and lifted his eyes to meet hers. "That's all in the past now, Akito. I'm sure that it's forgotten," she said smiling.
"Well, he's blind in his left eye," he confessed, looking away from her.
"Ha'ri," she said softly as the house came into view as did a young doctor.
Ha'ri was standing on his porch, admiring the two walking towards him.
"Come to show off, Akito," Ha'ri said, smirking.
"Now, come on, Ha'ri. You should know me better than that," he smiled.
"Yes, Ha'ri you should know Akito better than that. I am the one that came to show off," she said smiling, shooting a wink at Ha'ri as she hugged Akito's arm. "Really, we thought it a nice day for a stroll through the grounds. Was that okay, Ha'ri?" she asked now wondering if they had done the right thing by leaving the house.
"As well as I can see, it looks like you made a terrific choice, Nami. The weather is lovely and it's just perfect for a walk. Akito's been stuck inside so much, I wish he would get out more often," Ha'ri smiled his Ha'ri smile.
"Well, Ha'ri, it seems we have to be going. Will we see you at dinner?"
"Yes, Akito, I'll be at the table. Nami, see you later tonight, as well," he said as he bowed and watched them leave.
Nami smiled as Akito led her away from Ha'ri's home and towards the Main House. He called over a servant and smiled at them.
"Please, take care of Nami Heiwa. I want her in the best furisode that you can find. Tonight will be one of excellent magnificence," Akito proclaimed as he placed Nami's hand in that of the servant's. "Be well, Nami." He turned to the lady that held Nami's hand and whispered, "Make sure she is wearing a yukata," he said as he stepped out of the door and headed off to the kitchen.
She watched as he left and went towards the kitchen. Soon, she was in her room as the woman that had led her from the Main Hall to the room was rummaging through a closet for a furisode for her to wear.
Soon, the dinner bell rang and Akito and Ha'ri were sitting at the dining table. Feeling a little uncomfortable, Ha'ri smiled slightly.
"Where is Nami?" he asked.
"She should be here any moment, Ha'ri. Be patient," he smirked as he sat at the table and waited.
Soon thereafter, a small figure stepped into the doorway. Her hair put up in small braids and ponytails, Nami stepped in through the door and smiled nervously as she approached. Ha'ri looked at her in surprise. The clothing didn't make her look beautiful, she made the clothing beautiful. Now, he had understood why Akito chose her to be with him.
The two men stood as she floated to the table and stood near Akito.
"Good evening, Hatori. Always a pleasantry to see you here," she said, being polite. She turned to face Akito and smiled. "Good evening, Akito," she said in soft speech.
She could really feel her face turn red and she didn't know how to act in a furisode. Akito pointed to a seat next im tim that sat across from Ha'ri. She sat as gracefully as she could while the guys stood. Ha'ri and Akito didn't sit until she had become comfortable on her spot.
"You look beautiful tonight, Nami," Ha'ri said, smiling.
"Thank you, Ha'ri. I must admit, I'm a bit nervous. I've never had to wear one of these before. If I do or say anything out of limits, just overlook me. I'm still learning," she said smiling.
Akito chuckled. "Well, Sohma house is a perfect place to learn anything," he said.
Ha'ri nodded his head in agreement. Nami suddenly felt better so she lifted up her head and smiled at the two men.
"There must be reason I am wearing this, Akito," she said a little gushingly.
"There is, but you will have to wait until after dinner to find out why I had you wear this furisode. For now, we eat," he proclaimed as a few people had brought out trays of food for the trio to eat.
In the kitchen, a few of the cooks and servers are talking.
"Yes, I heard that Master Akito is going to ask her tonight," said one.
"Is that why she is wearing such a kimono? Oh, I do hope they become the happy couple that they are destined to be," said a second.
Akito smiled at Nami as Ha'ri saw that he had planned something and Ha'ri was to be witness to this occasion. Soon, everyone was finished with their food. Nami barely ate for her nervousness was too great for her to hold anything in her stomach.
Akito waited for Ha'ri to put his chopsticks down so he could present the reason for the furisode. After a few moments, Ha'ri finally caught on and put down his chopsticks. Akito smiled.
"Now, you asked why I had you wear this kimono and I am to tell you. Even though it's usually for unmarried women, who you are at the moment, I would be the happiest man in the world, if you would grace my life with y for for eternity," he said fast because he didn't want to back out now.
Ha'ri's mouth dropped slightly and Nami just stared at Akito. She was shocked. She had no clue as to how to answer, but answer she did.
"YES!" she said, happily before she knew what she was doing.
Ha'ri looked at her and him and started to chuckle. Both Nami and Akito looked at Ha'ri.
"What's so funny, Ha'ri?"
"Oh, nothing's funny, Akito. I am just thinking of how much Shigure is going to be upset, knowing that he missed this and I was here to witness it."
Akito looked to Ha'ri and his face grew grave.
"No one is to know what I am doing here, Ha'ri. I want this engagement to be a secret," he said in the most gravest of voices.
Ha'ri nodded and smiled. "Not a peep, Akito. I promise that I won't tell a soul," he said.
Standing, Akito held out his hand for Nami and she took it as he raised her from her seat. Ha'ri stood as he bade them good-bye. Akito and Nami waited for Ha'ri to exit the room. When he was gone, Akito looked to his fiancé.
"Come, we have much to talk about," he said as he led her to his room.
He shut the door behind them and he directed her to the middle of the room and she sat down in traditional Japanese custom. He sat in front of her and smiled more at the beauty in which was radiating from her face.
"You get more beautiful with every passing second," he said as he raised his left hand and touched her right shoulder.
He took his hand and reached for her hair, as she followed his hand. He stopped and looked at her.
"It's okay. I'm not going to hurt you," he said as she removed her hand.
He continued moving his hand over her hair and released it from the holds that barred it from being free. He let her hair down as she lowered her head and looked at the floor.
She seemed to have floated out of life for a moment because she jerked forward and her head rested on Akito's chest. He stopped letting her hair down and pushed her back gently and looked at her.
"Are you okay, Nami," he asked softly.
She looked at him and smiled. "Yes, Akito, I'm fine."
He smiled and continued removing all the rubber bands and straightening her hair.
"There, it's all done," he said smiling and gave her a kiss on the cheek.
She still seemed to be staring off into space. This worried Akito.
"Are you sure you're okay, Nami. I can have Ha'ri come and check you out, if you'd like," he offered.
She snapped back to reality and smiled. "I
I'm fine, Akito. Why would I lie," she replied.
"That's good," he replied as he sat back down on as he smiled at her.
"I'm feeling a bit out of place, but that's normal for me," she chuckled nervously.
"Oh, am I making you nervous," Akito asked with a concerned look.
"No, I'm not at all nervous. I just
I just never had anyone show so int interest in me before, at least not this much interest."
Akito laughed at Nami. "Well, it sort of happens when you have someone you love, Nami."
He looked at her face as she lost some of the nervousness in her eyes. He could tell she would be a bit tense, but he would try and get her to ease up a bit. He looked at her from her face to her knees. He began to untie the sash around her waist. When he came close to her, she leaned backward a bit.
"Don't worry, Nami. I can't transform. I'm completely human," he said, easing her fear.
He pulled the sash from behind her and placed it ceremoniously to the side. He leaned over to her ear and whispered, "Feeling any better?"
She giggled nervously, but nodded, her hands shaking for fear of not knowing what was going to happen next. Akito sensed it, but didn't say anything as he gently caressed her neck with his traveling lips.
He slowly pulled open the furisode and slid it off her shoulders. She looked to the side away from his face so that he couldn't see her fear. She hated to let others see her afraid. He started to kiss her shoulders, which had completely caught her off guard and she closed her eyes. He stood up and offered her his hand. She stood with him as he started to slowly remove the furisode completely off her body so that only her yukata was visible. It was a plain white yukata and almost completely see-through.
She hugged him as he hugged her and the two sank back to the floor in each other's embrace. He looked at her as he leaned back. Her eyes were aglitter and his searching.
"Are you sure you want to do this," he asked now that he had her almost completely down.
"It's really too late to turn back now," she said softly.
He nodded and put a hand behind her head to keep her hair from getting laid on and placed her gently on the floor. He leaned over her body with his own and looked at her with a smile. He gave her a kiss as he started to get ready to consummate their soon to be wedding.
"Are you completely ready? I can stop now if you want to wait," he said politely.
She smiled at him. "I'm ready," she whispered in his ear as he leaned over and gave her another kiss before he undid the yukata.
She let him trail his fingers up and down her body. Each stop had meant that he was going to linger for a moment and then move on. Most of the stops were at her tickle spots so she was giggling pretty much most of the time.
"You're voice is like a bell," he said as he slowly brought his fingers back up to her face, softly caressing her body as they found their way up to their destination.
"Akito, you flatter me," she said softly as he caressed her lips with his and began to kiss her once more.
She was being lost to him and she didn't hany any control over these feelings. He gently laid himself on top of her, trying to keep a soft placement. Her heart began to race as he entered her and started what he had chosen he was going to do with her the week before. He went slowly because he loved her and didn't want anything to harm her. For a while, Nami said nothing but just let him take over control.
She was lying on his chest as he held her close. The sun streamed in the room and she was greeted with the brightest orange ever. He smiled as he smelled of her hair and held her as tight as he could.
Just then, Ha'ri walked into the Main House and walked down the hall and stopped at Akito's door. He knocked and waited.
"You may enter, Ha'ri," he said as he still lay on the floor holding Nami in his arms.
Ha'ri entered and smiled. 'Akito doesn't seem to waste time,' he thought as he saw the two.
"Good morning, Nami. I trust your night was well spent," he said.
She smiled at Ha'ri. "It was well spent," she replied.
"Hatori," Akito said briskly. "I wish to have a wedding ceremony soon. I want this to be a silent affair so no one outside us three is to know."
"That can be arranged. I can find a priest as soon as noon. Is that okay," he asked.
"Noon is fine," he replied not moving from his spot.
Nami reached out with her good arm and swung it slowly around Ha'ri's face. He woke up and looked at her smiling face. He took her hand and laid her in the floor with him and she slept in his lap.
