A/N- Perhaps I should clarify something. This story takes place about a year after the second OVA {where they�re trying to find the jewels of memory so Taka won�t disappear.}. Making Tasuki twenty and Chichiri twenty-nine. Thank you and enjoy this chapter.

Morning brought the smell of food and the feel of a warm bed and, just for a few moments, Kaki forgot where she was. She opened her eyes suddenly sitting up, getting her Barings. A fresh set of clothes sat on the table along with a brush and a note that read:

Nice hair.

Kaki smiled a little and touched her hair where it was matted on one side. She could only imagine how it looked while she was still sleeping. Kaki swiftly got dressed and set to work inhaling the food that had been brought to her. She emerged from the room only to find the fifty plus men avoiding looking at her and none of them looked surprised in the least the she was a girl. The young woman quickly made her way down the stairs and out the cave mouth. Tasuki and Chichiri were already situating provisions for the long trek.

�I guess this it good bye, then. It looks like your leaving. So thank you for everything and if you ever need my help don�t hesitate to ask.� Kaki smiled.

�Well actually� there if something we need you to do, you know� Chichiri said a little uncomfortable.

�You have to come with us to the temple of Suzaku and help summon the Beast God so we can get rid of the demons that are destroying the country.� Tasuki stated bluntly.

�Oh?� Kaki�s heart began to beat faster at the mention of Suzaku. She needed to go. Not just because she was asked, but because but because something deep inside demanded she be present. �Okay, I�ll come.� Chichiri smiled. He knew exactly why she agreed so easily.

�Well we have to get to Mt. Taikyoku, you know.� Chichiri looked at the girl.

�What? That�s a month�s journey on foot.� Tasuki complained like a child being told he couldn�t have ice cream. Kaki ignored the whining man and turned to the monk.

�What�s Mt. Taikyoku?�

�It�s the magical place where the witch of the mountain resides.� Tasuki replied completely monotone.
�Alright, that�s enough!� Taiitsukun Said from behind the fire wielder. Tasuki jumped in the air making a high pitched yelping sound.

�I am Taiitsukun.� The old woman said.

Kaki smiled, �Nice to meet you. My name is Kaki.�

�You must travel to Mt Taikyoku, come to the main temple of Suzaku and beckon the Beast God.�

�But why me?� Kaki asked.

�You have an unspoken attachment to Suzaku, don�t you? Yours is stronger then most monks. You should go if only to find out why.� Taiitsukun said. The young woman seemed to accept that answer and turned to her traveling companions.

�We should get going then.� She said simply. Both Tasuki and Chichiri nodded their consent.

�I will see you again in a month.� Taiitsukun said before vanishing into thin air. Tasuki heaved a sigh of relief.

�We should get going, you know. The sooner we get going the sooner we cam summon Suzaku.� Chichiri said.

�Genrou, you should bring us along too. What with all the demons and all, you�re going to need a few more pairs of hands.� Shii said motioning to the half dozen men behind him.

Tasuki nodded. �Your right the more the better. Grab more provisions. We leave in an hour.� Tasuki said walking to the little stream to fill canteens with water. After all seven containers were brimming and capped he looked at the softly rippling crystalline water and then at the position of the sun. He still had forty- five minutes. Tasuki gave a quick look around, stripped down and slipped into the cool water. �Just a quick wash before we get going. I don�t know when I�ll get this chance again.� He thought sinking down to sit on a moss covered rock.

Chichiri looked over everything they were carrying mentally checking everything off.

�Oh, we need the water, you know. Kaki, could you go see how it�s coming? Tasuki is probably just lazing around.� The monk smiled at the woman in question. Kaki nodded and set off in the direction Tasuki had gone. This was all feeling like a dream. Yesterday, with her sudden urge to walk along the river, saving Tasuki, being a necessary to summon Suzaku; all of it. Her thought lead her to the river bank. Sitting not more then fifteen feet from her were all seven canteens.

�Huh?� she whispered to herself. The fire colored hair caught her eye and Kaki finally noticed Tasuki� in the water� naked. She stared at the strong curve of his shoulder, the broad expanse of his back, the nice tone and hint of muscle in his arms. Tasuki stiffened slightly and Kaki realized she had been gawking. She hurriedly moved behind a bush and waited as Tasuki turned to look behind him.

�Now that�s strange� he thought, �I could have sworn that someone was watching me.� The sensation had been like a warm hand running it�s way up his back.

�Wow� Kaki tried to get a better look at him, �the front is just as nice as the back.� Tasuki finally just shrugged and turned his back to the embankment. Kaki, with knot wedged in her stomach got up from her hiding place grabbed the canteens and sprinted to Chichiri.

�Here you go.� She said between pants. The monk raised his eyebrow.

�Is everything alright?� Chichiri asked.

Kaki looked up at him. �Yeah. He looked busy so I just grabbed the water and came back here.�

�Running the whole time?� the monk clarified. The young woman nodded. Chichiri was still trying to figure it all out when a loud yell came from the forest. A very wet Tasuki emerged moment later.

�The canteens were stolen!� he shouted at the monk and Kaki who turned bright red while Chichiri held the water containers in front of the fire wielder.

�I asked her to get them of us because you were taking so long, you know. She just got back and told me that you were busy and probably shouldn�t be disturbed, you know.� At this Tasuki turned a little red. The girl had been able to walk up, grab the water and leave with out him knowing about it? Maybe she would be a good addition to his gang.

�Let�s get moving. This is going to be a very long trek.� Tasuki called to his guys. They all nodded in agreement, finished loading up and set off.
