Chapter 2

Author's Notes: OK,
here�s the second chapter. Things will start to pick up from now on. I�m not
sure how long the fic is going to be in the end. I�m planning on around six or
seven chapters though. You know the usual: I don�t own Monster Rancher and this
is a work of fan fiction. Please don�t forget to Read and Review. On to
the story!

Holly was
the first to wake up the next morning. She was surprised at first to feel a
strong arm wrapped around her but smiled when she remembered that she had asked
Mikael to share her sleeping bag last night. Mikael refused in the beginning
but agreed to when he saw how cold it was getting. �Good-morning, Holly.�

Holly
turned towards the voice and smiled, �Good-morning to you too, Mikael.�

�It looks
like we�re the first ones up.�

�Yeah,
everybody else tends to sleep like a log.� Holly giggled at the sounds of
snoring coming from all around them.

�Well, I
don�t know about you, but I definitely need a bath.� Mikael said as he got out
of the sleeping bag.

�So could
I.� Holly replied, �I think I know the perfect spot. I saw a small cave a
little ways back yesterday when that loupe was carrying me through the forest.
Maybe it has a hot spring in it.�

�It does.
I smelled it yesterday while following that loupe.�

�OK.
Let�s go.� Holly suggested while blushing profusely.

Mikael
nodded and picked up a bag. Holly followed him to the aforementioned cave and
sure enough it had a hot spring. Both stripped down and slowly lowered
themselves into the hot water.

�Ahhhh, this feels good.� Mikael commented as he felt his
muscles begin to relax.

�It sure
does!� Holly agreed as she followed suit. She then started to really look over
the upper half of Mikael�s body, noticing the well sculpted physique he
possessed. The only odd part about him being the scars on his
chest. At the same time Mikael was admiring the view Holly was
unknowingly giving him as she looked up into his face.

�Nice
view you�re giving me Holly.� Mikael teased while smiling. Before she could
make any protest, Mikael leaned down and kissed Holly. She couldn�t resist and
wrapped her arms around him and began kissing back. Their tongues began dancing
as Mikael took Holly into his arms. After a while he broke the kiss and stepped
back, panting.

�Why did
you stop Mikael?�

�You�re
too much Holly. I was about to begin losing control. I haven�t done that since
I was a very small child.�

�You, you
can lose control with me. I don�t mind.� Holly replied blushing.

Mikael
sighed and then started kissing Holly again. They ran their hands all over each
other�s bodies, feeling every nook and cranny. Holly sighed at the pleasure and
then let out a slight gasp as Mikael started to slowly suck on her nipple. This
was a completely new sensation for her. It was nothing compared to the fire
that was slowly building in her nether regions though. As he feasted on Holly�s
mounds, one of Mikael�s hands snaked its way down to her crotch and began
lightly rubbing the outer lips. She moaned lightly at Mikael�s touch and then
returned the favor by slowly rubbing a hand up and down his hard shaft.

He
responded by slowly kissing his way down to Holly�s young twat and giving it a
quick lick. It felt like a sudden jolt of electricity was coursing its way
through her body. Noticing Holly�s response Mikael proceeded to slide his

Soon both
were on the stone floor of the cave and Mikael was burying himself inside of

they finished actually bathing and then returned to camp. Luckily for them the
only person up at the moment was Pixie once again. She nodded at them and
winked, full knowing what they had done. Pixie then pointed to some fresh
caught fish and mouthed the words: �I got you covered� to Mikael and Holly.
Holly blushed at the thought of anyone else knowing what she and her lover had
been doing while Mikael silently thanked the monster. Both then started
preparing breakfast, and soon the others awoke thanks to the smell of food
cooking over an open fire.

�Man,
what a sleep I had!� Genki yawned as he sat up.

�Yeah, we
heard you snoring all night!� Tiger growled playfully.

�You seem
to forget that some of us with sensitive ears can�t sleep very well with you
sawing logs all night long!� Hare groggily added to express his annoyance.

In just a
few minutes the meal was ready and everybody chowed
down. They loved the way Mikael had cooked the fish in a mix of herbs from some
other dimension that he would not tell to anyone except Holly. Holly,
meanwhile, had prepared scrambled eggs, sausage, and baked potatoes. After
breakfast Mikael brewed a pot of coffee and let everyone try some. All, except
Genki, were amazed at this strange liquid that seemed to instantaneously make
them feel alive and wake them up, all at the same time. Suezo complained about
having to help Moochi clean up the breakfast dishes afterwards, but a stern
look from Holly was all that was needed to make him shut up for once.

While
Suezo and Moochi were cleaning up, Big Blue asked Mikael what his plans were.
�That�s actually pretty simple.� Mikael replied, �It will take at least a week
before Holly will be up to any type of major traveling, so we should probably
stay here for now. We have adequate food and shelter right here in the forest.�

�Maybe
some of us don�t like staying out in the woods when there�s a perfectly good
inn right up the road in town!� Suezo piped in, obviously peeved at the idea of
having to camp out any more.

�Oh, you
could try the town, but I wouldn�t suggest it. Those ignorant townspeople will
start associating you with the lycans too now.�

For once,
Suezo could not argue the point and just stood there with his mouth hanging
open. Greywolf pointed this out and all got a good laugh out of it. They then
started taking stock of what items they had and what was needed. Mikael was
quick to point out that most of the essential items needed could be found
around them in the woods as Hare began to furrow his eyebrows at the list of
what they needed.

�What do
you mean by that?� the rabbit-like monster asked.

�Well,
take shelter for example. I know how to build very nice, very large shelters
that will be completely rain, wind, and snow proof out of materials we can find
just laying around in this forest.�

�How do
you know so much about wilderness survival?� Golem queried.

�A large
part of the training my people received dealt with surviving in practically any
environment. I�ve spent far more time out in the wilderness than in any town or
village due to my constantly hunting down those lycans. It wasn�t unusual for
others of my race to spend years without once setting foot in any sort of
village or town. Most would just set up a camp for a few weeks and then move
on. That�s how come I know so much about various herbs, plants, and such. The
only reason I�ve ever personally went into any sort of settlement was when I
needed more silver for my arrow heads.�

�That
explains why you seem so at home here in the forest.� Holly replied, �Why do
lycans react so violently to silver anyway?�

�It�s
because of the original virus. It altered their DNA. That not only allows them
to change shape at will and have the heightened senses, it also left them with
a body that severely overreacted to silver. They basically are fatally allergic
to the element.�

Everyone
just took Mikael at his word. Then they started asking Mikael more about his
race. Mikael explained that his people were called the �Chi Ki�na� in his
native language, which meant Chi Warrior-Mage in normal English. Chi Ki�na,
Mikael said, were given the ability to harness their chi to enhance their
strength, speed, agility, and senses enough to be on par with the lycans. He
further mentioned how they could also use their chi to speed up healing of
themselves, heal others, and perform a variety of other techniques.

By midday
everyone had had their fill of Chi Ki�na 101 and decided to take a nap. Holly
and Mikael stayed awake though as it was time for Mikael to check on Holly�s
wound. He carefully removed the bandages and examined the long slash. Mikael
told Holly that it was coming along nicely and that it would not be that long
before she could resume her normal activities. Mikael then finished up by
covering Holly�s injury with fresh bandages and then he left to find the
required materials to make a few shelters.

By the
time everyone else woke up Mikael had two shelters built. When they asked why
he was building more than one Mikael said that he figured that Genki and Pixie
would probably want one of their own and that the monsters would not like
sleeping out in the cold either. He then built one for Holly and himself as
well as a type of out house to cover the latrine pit he had dug earlier.
Everyone was amazed at how well the shelters looked and complimented Mikael on
his proficiency.

Everyone
took the rest of the day to relax, even Mikael. After Mikael prepared a
delicious supper of roast venison (deer meat for those who don�t know) and wild
onions and carrots, everyone decided to check out their respective shelters.
The monsters� shelter was by far the biggest to accommodate them all: Suezo,
Tiger, Moochi, Greywolf, Big Blue, Hare, and Golem. Pixie and Genki�s shelter,
much like Mikael and Holly�s, was large enough for them to enjoy and yet small
enough to not get too cold.

�Wow
Mikael, this is great!� Holly exclaimed as she looked over the interior of her
and Mikael�s shelter. It looked a little bit like a cabin, except its outer
covering was a mixture of moss and rain resistant leaves. The inside had a
small pit in the center with a hole at the top for a fire. Their bags were
placed in one corner, and the sleeping bag was rolled up in another. Mikael
simply smiled at the compliment and unrolled their sleeping bag. The two talked
long into the night; with Mikael giving Holly a few basic lessons in the
language of his people. They eventually fell asleep in each other�s arms.

The next
couple days passed in the same manner. With each day that passed, Holly�s
injury healed a little more. Within one week they were on the move again.
Everything went fine for the first few days. Then on the fourth day Mikael
suddenly signaled everyone to halt. When asked what was going on, Mikael told
them that he heard lycans not far ahead. Mikael instructed them to kneel down
and wait for him. The young man then crept forward and disappeared into the
forest. He found the lycans soon after in a small clearing. There were three
males sitting around a campfire roasting a rather large bird they had killed.
Mikael knocked an arrow to his bow with utmost silence and then killed the
nearest loupe. The other two soon followed their comrade.

�The
problem�s taken care of.� Mikael said as he walked back into view.

�How many
were there?� Genki asked.

�There
were only three, so we must be getting pretty close to a small outpost or
colony. The main pack will still be a long way off. We need to proceed with
caution from now on.�

Everyone
agreed and then they were off once more. Mikael chose a small, secluded
clearing near a creek to make camp for the night. By the time the moon rose
everything was ready and a pot of stew was simmering over the camp fire. After
everyone ate, Mikael took the first watch. The night and next day both passed
uneventfully, which made everyone happy.

Mikael
dispatched of many more loupes over the next few days as they drew ever nearer
to the lycan camp that Mikael was sensing. They were
ambushed on their third week of traveling by a large group of lycans.
Surprisingly this group had females in it. Everyone except for Mikael was surprised,
having assumed that only male loupes did any fighting.

The Chi
Ki�na went into action, yelling �Che�koy-ya!� as he
unsheathed his sword. The loupes growled and howled at him, baring their fangs
in preparation of Mikael�s attack. One of the loupes seriously surprised the
monsters, Genki, and Holly when it actually spoke. Upon seeing Mikael it
growled one word with enough hatred to send shivers up their spines: �Chel*ka!�

Mikael
responded with a slang term from his own language, �Shuku!�
He quickly killed three of the loupes and fought viciously with the one that
had spoken. This loupe was wielding a nasty looking broad sword. Sparks flew as
their blades clashed. For a while it was a tie, but then Mikael used his chi to
cause a fireball to fall on the unsuspecting loupe.

He spun
around and parried a staff blow aimed at his head. The loupe on the other end
of the staff was a young female that had obviously never fought before. She was
quickly disarmed and fell to the ground. She was scooting backwards,
desperately trying to get away from Mikael. At the same time he was slowly
approaching the juvenile loupe, his hand glowing with energy.

Out of
sheer terror the female screamed one word, �Yeshlam!�

�Never.� Was Mikael�s only reply.

Just as
he was about to finish the loupe off another female stepped in between them.
�Lund throth% shouk*� she
said quietly. Mikael stopped dead in his tracks, the energy in his palm
dissipating slowly. Everyone was shocked at this but even more so when they heard
him speak: �Go, now! Don�t let me find you again, because if I do, I will kill
you.� With a nod the female helped the younger loupe stand up and both dashed
off into the forest.

�Now what
was that all about?� Suezo wondered out loud to no one in particular.

Holly
stepped up to Mikael and placed a hand on his shoulder, �What was that all
about?� she asked softly.

�It�s
none of your business.� Mikael responded coldly and started walking away. �I
need some time to think, I�ll be back before sunset.� With that the Chi Ki�na
disappeared into the forest once more, leaving everyone else stupefied.

Author�s Notes: Well everyone, I know this chapter was
about four or so pages shorter than the first, but I wanted to end it with this
cliff hanger. If you want to find out what�s going to happen, then you�ll just
