An Anceint Vow

Rei's eyes began to water at the memories he showed her. Her knees grew weak and she suddenly found herself in his arms. As she began to melt into his warm embrace the others had begun to panic.

"What are you doing to her?" Serena demands as she and the others get up and begin to move towards them.

"I'm fine," Rei says giving him a final hug before standing back up. "He didn't do anything to me," she assured them. "I was just overwhelmed by some of my new memories that's all." She gives them an embarrassed smile.

"Are you sure you're okay Rei?" Serena asks. She sensed something between pass between them while he told them when he answered Rei. She just didn't know what. Why did she hug him? Have her old feelings for him also awakened?

"Yes meatball head, I'm sure." Rei answered. Her tone of voice left no room for arguments, which to her friends was a good sign that she was back to normal. Well normal for Rei. God I forgot how good his arms felt.

Taking charge of the situation, Trista looks at Michael. "I believe you were about to tell them about what happened to you during the last battle on the moon."

Michael nods. "That would be the best place to resume my story." He can see that the others aren't as relaxed as they were before Rei's little episode, but they sat back down to allow him to continue his tale.

"As you ALL remember the Negaverse had attacked the Moon and there was a fierce battle in which both sides were sent to the future." They nod quietly. "What you didn't know at the time was that while you nine were fighting on the east side of the palace I was battling the attackers on the west side. Least I was until the entire west wing collapsed on my head."

"WHAT??? they all scream at once, well all except Trista. "But... but you said..." Amara begins but is too shocked to finish.

"I said that I did not die and I didn't." Michael answers her unfinished question. "I was buried, not killed. Remember what I said about the difference in the Moon's artificial gravity and Chronos' gravity." Understanding began to spread across their faces as it slowly dawned on them what he had said. What to them would have been several TONS of marble, metal and glass was only a few hundred pounds of debris. While heavy and difficult to climb out from under, wasn't life threatening.

"It took me awhile to dig myself out but I managed." he says.

"What happened after you got out?" Lita asked. She still wasn't completely sure how safe this guy was but his story was fascinating.

"It was over." He tells them sadly. "Everyone was gone and Queen Serenity's body had long since grown cold. I buried her in the center of the Mas'i circle and upon her grave I swore an oath of blood. An ancient spell in my native tongue.

"I vowed that no matter how many life times it took, regardless of how many centuries should pass I would never know peace until I could once again resume my duties in Princess Serenity's service and saw the Moon Kingdom reborn. The ancient magics that resided within that sacred circle aided the spell making me immortal." He pauses for a momen before giving them a sheepish grin. "Well at least it did until I walked through the door."

"What do you mean? Rei asked with consern in her voice.

"The spell that made me immortal only lasted until I was reunited with the nine of you." He says calmly. "Now I'm just as mortal as the rest of you." He assures her.

"Is what he said true Pluto?" Serena askes the Sailor of Time.

Trista nods. "He speaks the truth my princess." The older woman informs her. "Chronos has been alive since the fall of the Moon Kingdom. I have met with him several time through out the centuries and what he's said is accurate."

"Wait a minute," Amara yells. "You mean to tell us that you KNEW about him and you never told us." Most of the others share her outrage as the look to the eldest Senshi for answers.

"Drop it Amara." Rei says softly. Her voice barely audible but plain in its message. "It wasn't her place to tell us." The young priestess says. "Chronos was right, we weren't ready."

"But Rei," Serena nearly whines. Her feelings are confused and she doesn't know how to deal with them.

"But nothing Serena." Her lover says. "Look it's late and we ALL have a LOT to sort out. Everyone just go home and get some sleep. We'll meet in the park tomorrow for the picnic." Her voice once again left no room for arguments. They all nod and slowly begin to make their way out the door.
