Ch. 3 – A Complete Disaster
********************************************************************************
Tamahome couldn’t shake the
growing sense that something was going wrong with Miaka.
Distraught after losing the
Shinzaho, she had run off after Ashitare.
Her running off wasn’t that unusual, but Taiitsukun showing up to make
excuses for her was. So what if
she had ‘girl trouble?’ That certainly
didn’t excuse them from having to protect her.
None of it made any sense.
He pulled his horse to a stop
and Tasuki came up along side him.
“What’s up, Tama?”
“I’m not really sure, but… I
think Miaka’s in danger somehow.”
To his surprise, Tasuki didn’t
argue. His anxiety must have leaked
across the bond. “Yeah, I don’t think
we shoulda left her behind, even if the old sand-witch told us to. It’s just too weird. She oughta be with the rest of us.”
Tamahome nodded, quickly making
up his mind. “Chichiri! I think Miaka’s in trouble. We’re going back for her. Go on without us, we’ll catch up.” The two of them thundered off the same way
they had just come from, not waiting for an answer. The mage was puzzled, but willing to go on a little faith where
those two were concerned.
As quickly as they could, the
two seishi made their way back to where they left Miaka. It was a little after nightfall when they
finally arrived. Instead of finding
Taiitsukun as they had expected, they stumbled across Tama-neko, whose frenzied
antics proved that their worries were justified.
Nakago was here.
And Tama-neko led them straight
to him. “My my, what are you two doing
here? Shouldn’t you be in Sairou with
your friends?”
Tasuki noticed a familiar gleam
around Nakago’s neck, mostly covered by his shirt. ‘Arrogant bastard’s wearin’ the Shinzaho! How dumb can ya get?’ “Cut the crap, blondie. Where’s Miaka-chan?”
“Miaka? Oh, you’ll find the Priestess resting in the
tent behind me. She may have a woman’s
body, but her stamina in womanly matters is… lacking. She just couldn’t keep up with me, I’m afraid.” With that, he turned and started to walk
away.
Tamahome and Miaka were no
longer an item, but he still had a protective streak a mile wide where she was
concerned. And Nakago had just stepped
right in the middle of it.
At Nakago’s words, anger rolled
of the gray-eyed seishi in waves and his ‘oni’ mark appeared. Tasuki could feel the power building in
him. “What… What did you do to
her?!!”
Tamahome howled angrily, and Power
shot out from his hands, making its way unerringly toward Nakago. Seeing a chance, the bandit followed behind
it as closely as he could without getting scorched.
The blast caught Nakago
completely by surprise, burning through armor and shoulder. He groaned and clasped his injured
flesh. Before he had a chance to
recover, Tasuki appeared seemingly out of nowhere, and struck out at Nakago with
his left hand moving at normal speed.
As he expected, Nakago dodged
him and slammed him away with a blast of power before Soi stepped in to protect
him with her lightning attacks. Both of
them completely missed what his right hand had been up to. The two Seiryuu seishi escaped on horseback.
It wasn’t until much later that
Nakago realized the Genbu Shinzaho was missing from around his neck.
********************************************************************************
“How… did I do that?”
Tamahome mumbled to himself, looking at his hands as if they weren’t part of
his own body.
“Beats the shit outta me, but it
was really fuckin’ cool. It almost
burned off Nakago’s shoulder. Prob’ly
woulda killed him if it’d hit dead on.”
Tama-neko meowed at them
urgently and hopped off toward the tent where Miaka was. They burst into the tent, finding her lying
in a heap, her jacket torn open.
Yuiren’s necklace lay in pieces on the floor. Tamahome fell to his knees in shock.
She roused a moment later,
looking confused at first, then horrified as she turned to see Tamahome gaping
at her.
“Don’t look at me!” Miaka
yelled, trying to cover herself.
Tamahome’s mouth worked
soundlessly, wanting desperately to reassure her, but not knowing what to
say. Finally, Tasuki huffed, breaking
the silence. “If yer through with the drama,
can we get outta here?”
They both turned and stared at
him incredulously. “How can you act
like this after what Nakago did to me?” Miaka asked, anger rising.
Tasuki sighed and looked at them
like they were complete idiots. “Don’t
tell me ya actually believe that prick!
The bastard didn’t do anything to ya.
Can’t ya tell when someone’s lyin’ to yer face?”
“But… but my whole body hurts!”
Tasuki snorted. “Gettin’ blasted by Nakago’ll do that to
ya. I should know.”
Miaka desperately wanted to
believe him, but Tasuki could see she was still skeptical. “You’re just gonna make me go there, aren’t
ya?” he grumbled. “Look, are ya
sore? Bleedin’? Down between yer… ya know? Agh!
Don’t make me say it!”
Miaka just looked at him
confusedly.
Tasuki groaned
theatrically. “Oh, come on! Yer twazzer! Yer bearded clam! Yer
cucumber canal! Are ya sore or bleedin’
down there?”
Finally catching his meaning,
Miaka proceeded to choke and turn a brilliant shade of pink while Tamahome
blanched and smacked him over the head.
“Tasuki!! How can you say all
that stuff in front of a girl??”
“Ow! Soooorry! It ain’t my
fault all they teach in bandit school is whorehouse anatomy!” Tasuki complained, before smacking Tamahome
back. “Anyway, I may not know proper
names, but I know what I’m talkin’ ‘bout here.
I did grow up in a house full ‘a women, ya know. I know all kinds ‘a things ‘bout the female body I wish I
didn’t. No pain, no blood, he didn’t
touch ya, no problem.”
Tamahome yelled at him again for
being insensitive and vulgar, and they both advanced on one another, each
intent on pummeling the other. But
right before things could devolve into an all-out brawl, the two were
interrupted by a loud whoop from Miaka.
“I’m fine! Nakago didn’t do
anything to me, I can still summon Suzaku!”
However, she quickly sobered.
“But I still lost the Shinzaho.
I’ll never be able to get Yui-chan back without it!”
Tasuki laughed. “Wouldn’t worry ‘bout that, if I were
you.” He pulled the Genbu Shinzaho out
of his pocket and tossed it to her.
“The Shinzaho! When did you– How did you–” Tamahome
stuttered.
Tasuki just grinned like the cat
that stole the proverbial cream. “I
filched it off Nakago after ya blasted him.
Didja forget that I’m a super-fast bandit? I do steal stuff for a livin’, ya know.”
Tamahome scratched his head and
smiled ruefully, wondering how his bondmate could manage to turn even good news
into a complete disaster.
Miaka beamed at him, all past
actions apparently forgotten for the moment.
“Only one more to go, and I can get Yui-chan back! After I tell her all the things Nakago has
been lying to her about, she’s sure to come back to her senses.”
“Greeeaat,” Tasuki drawled. “Now that everybody’s happy again, c’n we
get outta here? This place gives me the
creeps.”
********************************************************************************
By unspoken agreement, Miaka
rode with Tamahome. Though he
understood her anger at the time, Tasuki was still confused about how he felt
around her now. He normally wasn’t one
to seriously hold a grudge, especially against a girl, but he just couldn’t
forget how badly she had made him feel.
What little interaction they had now was strained, with Tasuki
pretending like everything was okay and Miaka smiling obliviously through it
all. The whole thing just made him
uneasy.
Sensing his distress, Tama-neko
popped his head out of Tasuki’s coat long enough to purr and nuzzle at his
chin. He chuckled, drawing Tamahome’s
attention.
::You okay?::
::Yeah, just thinkin’.::
Hesitantly, Tasuki let Tamahome
see what he was thinking about. Part of
him was afraid Tamahome would fuss at him for being petty. Instead, his lover sent a wave of
understanding and reassurance.
::I’m sorry she hurt you so
badly. It was my fault to begin
with. Want me get involved?::
::Nah. I miss how we used ta hang out an’ have fun,
but I think that’s just over now. I
think she hates me now.::
::She doesn’t hate you, I’ll
bet she just doesn’t know how to act around you anymore.::
The silent conversation was
interrupted when Miaka gasped in surprise before pointing ahead of them and
yelling happily. They were surprised to
see a ragged bunch of Suzaku seishi hiking toward them. With his usual tact and finesse, Tasuki
demanded to know why they all looked like shit.
“One of the Seiryuu seishi
trapped us in an illusion. We thought
we were in a border city, but we were really just cooking to death in the
middle of the desert,” Chiriko supplied.
“Our horses died out there. We
almost did, too!”
“Really? Then, how did you get out here?” Miaka
asked.
“I’m the one that figured it
out!” Chiriko proclaimed proudly.
“There were no books in the city library that I hadn’t already read,
which was strange. Then, Chichiri told
me that something was interfering with his spells. Add to that the fact that only one of the city’s inhabitants
seemed capable of speech, and there you have it!”
“Once I knew what we were
fighting, I was able to break the illusion, no da!”
Tasuki frowned. “What happened to th’ Seiryuu asshole?”
Chichiri shook his head. “He ran off as soon as he was
discovered. He must have only had
orders to delay us as long as possible, no da.”
“It certainly worked. That sun really did a number on us. I’m too tired to take on a fly right now,”
Nuriko said, woefully examining his hair for sun damage.
“Well, Sairou isn’t far from
here, and my old master lives there. We
should be able to rest there for awhile.”
********************************************************************************
After some cursory
introductions, Nuriko, Chichiri, and Mitsukake all went inside Tokaki and
Subaru’s home to crash, entirely drained from being exposed in the desert for
so long. Tasuki, Tamahome, Miaka and
Chiriko, who was too wound up to sleep, were left to their own devices.
Tasuki was trying. Suzaku-knows he was trying. It wasn’t his home, it wasn’t his life, and
he had no right to complain about how any of them lived it.
But that damned girl was getting
on his last nerve.
He and Tamahome hadn’t had a
moment alone since they arrived. When
he wasn’t with Tokaki, Xi Fang was always right by his side. It wasn’t like she was doing anything wrong;
she was being nothing but kind and accommodating. To Tamahome. There was
nothing at all wrong with it, and Tasuki wasn’t jealous, not in the least. Or so he told himself.
Eventually, he got restless and
rounded up Chiriko for some playtime, hoping it would take his mind off
things. “What do ya wanna do?”
Chiriko thought for a moment
before grinning. “I always wanted to
learn to climb trees, but I never had time with all my studies. You can climb, right?”
Tasuki snorted. “Hell yeah!
Check this out!” In a flash,
Tasuki leapt into the nearest tree and swung up to the highest branch. “How’s that fer treeclimbin’!”
“Awesome!” Chichiri bounced up
and down, clapping. “Can you teach me?”
“Sure thing, kiddo.” Tasuki hopped down to the lowest
branch. He reached out a hand and
pulled the boy up.
“Say, Tasuki, why was Miaka so
mad at you? Mitsukake said she was
angry because of something that wasn’t your fault, but he wouldn’t tell me any
more.”
Tasuki shrugged. “That’s about all there is to it. Besides, it’s over now, so it don’t matter.”
Chiriko pouted angrily. “You can tell me, you know. You don’t have to treat me like a little
kid!”
“Yeah I do,” Tasuki retorted,
laughing.
“Huh?”
“I’m gonna treat ya like a
little kid now. I’m gonna treat ya like
a little kid when yer a government super-stud givin’ orders ta everybody. I’m gonna treat ya like a little kid when
yer married an’ have a family ‘a yer own, an’ I’m gonna treat ya like a little
kid when we’re old an’ gray. When yer
growin’ up, everything’s gonna change, ‘cept how I treat ya. Ya know what I mean?”
Chiriko smiled a little. “Yeah, I think I get it. It just gets hard sometimes. Everybody’s older than me, and you’re all so
tough! I feel so useless when it’s time
to fight. I want to be strong like
you!”
“Aw, please. Don’t go thinkin’ that just ‘cause ya can’t
help us fight yer not helpin’ at all.
Anybody c’n fight, but not everybody c’n think. Yer smarter than all ‘a us put
together. Hell, yer ideas saved all ‘a
us more than once, an’ I’ll bet that someday there’s gonna be somethin’ that
needs doin’ that only you can do.”
Chiriko brightened. “You really think so?”
“Hell yeah!” Tasuki ruffled Chiriko’s hair
affectionately. “So quit yer
mopin’. Ya wanna climb this sucker or
not?”
********************************************************************************
To say that Tamahome was annoyed
would be an understatement. Xi Fang had
been following him around all day long, and he had a sneaking suspicion that it
was some scheme thought up by his devious Master. She was a sweet girl, but all he really wanted to do was spend
some time with Tasuki.
He was finally able to give her
the slip when Subaru called her to help with lunch. He ran out of the house as fast as he could, finding the bandit
standing under a tall tree urging a giggling Chiriko to jump out. After a bit of cajoling, Chiriko jumped and
Tasuki caught him, spinning him around before setting him down and sending him
back to the house for lunch.
“Okay Tama, ya can come out
now.”
“You’re good with kids,”
Tamahome said wistfully.
“Yeah, yeah. Only some of ‘em.” The bandit looked around suspiciously. “Hey, where’s your new girlfriend?”
Tamahome rolled his eyes. “Ugh, I don’t know, and I don’t care. I’ve been trying all day to convince her I’m
not interested, but she won’t take the hint.”
“Man, what is it with you an’
pretty girls fallin’ for ya all the time?
If this keeps up, I’m gonna start roastin’ every girl that looks at ya
twice.”
Tamahome stared at him a moment
before starting to laugh. “Jealous
much?”
Before he could yell a response
or go knock that smug smile off Tamahome’s face, Tasuki’s sharp hearing caught
the sound of a branch snapping, and the heavy rustle of clothing. He cursed inwardly, knowing it was Xi Fang
spying on them. Then, he smirked
ferally. If hints weren’t working,
maybe she needed to be hit over the head with the facts.
Tamahome cocked an eyebrow at
Tasuki’s change in attitude, but before he could ask, Tasuki was stalking
toward him, backing him up against a tree.
“Tas, what are you doing?” he
asked warily.
“Just givin’ ya somethin’ ta
think about.” The bandit closed in and
kissed him. Hard. Tamahome moaned. Tasuki’s tongue in his mouth wasn’t gentle or nice. It was demanding and possessive.
Tamahome’s hands flew up to
tangle in Tasuki’s hair. For a moment
he was a little surprised at the change in his behavior. But then the bandit shifted his attention to
Tamahome’s neck and his brain shut down, sparing him any further thoughts on
the subject.
Tasuki licked at Tamahome’s neck
briefly before biting down, not hard enough to break the skin, but hard enough
to leave a mark. It sent a jolt straight
to Tamahome’s groin. Dazedly, he
realized what his lover was doing.
::Are you marking me?::
::Yep. Wolves have ta mark their territory,
‘specially when it goes wanderin’ off around pretty girls.::
Before Tamahome could form a
retort or think about how just how much this treatment was turning him on,
Tasuki gave his neck a final lick and slid down his body. He slipped his pants off, letting them pool
around Tamahome’s ankles before kneeling at his feet. Tasuki looked up to make sure he had Tamahome’s full
attention. The other man was staring at
him intently, holding his breath in anticipation. In slow motion, he flicked his tongue out and gave the bobbing
shaft before him a long, slow lick from root to tip
Tamahome tried to move his hips
to speed things along, but Tasuki’s grip pressed him firmly against the tree,
not allowing him movement. He threw his
head back and groaned in frustration, hands tightening in the red hair under
his fingers.
The bandit took just the head of
Tamahome’s cock into his mouth. He
swirled his tongue around the tip before licking at the sensitive slit. Tamahome closed his eyes, shuddering under
Tasuki’s hands.
::Are you trying to kill
me? Hurry up, dammit!::
::Beg me real pretty an’ I’ll
think about it.::
::Bite me!::
Tasuki smirked inwardly both at
the challenge Tamahome had no chance of winning, and at his unfortunate choice
of words. He let one of those
dangerously sharp fangs scrape very lightly along the sensitive head of Tamahome’s
cock.
Tamahome shuddered again. “Agh, more dammit!”
::Uh-uh. Not pretty enough.::
He lapped at the head of
Tamahome’s cock once more before he wrapped his lips around just the tip. And sucked.
Lightly.
“Gods, Please Tas! Let me come!”
::Good boy.::
Finally having gotten what he
wanted, Tasuki picked up the pace. He
slid his lips down Tamahome’s shaft as far as he could, and back up again,
going a little faster and increasing the suction a little more each time. Every now and then he paused and hummed low
in his throat, wringing incoherent groans and cries from his lover.
Body shivering, Tamahome knew he
wouldn’t last much longer. He forced
his eyes open to look down. The sight
of Tasuki’s head bobbing up and down on his cock was too much. He came hard, gasping his lover’s name while
Tasuki swallowed around him.
Boneless and out of breath,
Tamahome slid down the tree when Tasuki finally let his softening member slide
from his mouth. When he was coherent
again, Tasuki was kneeling in front of him looking… smug? He heard an indrawn breath and quickly
receding footsteps. “What the hell was
that? Was there someone there?!”
Tasuki put on the most serious
face he could manage at the moment. “I
didn’t hear anything. I got no idea
what you’re talkin’ about.”
Tamahome tapped his head. “Nice try, but I can hear you laughing in
here.” Finally, his pleasure-addled
mind put it all together. “Was that Xi
Fang? Tas, what did you just do?” he
demanded.
“Hey, ya wanted her ta leave ya
alone, now she will. What’s the
problem?” he laughed.
“The problem is you just mauled
me in front of my Master’s adopted daughter!!”
“Hmph. Well if ya’d quit bein’ Mr. Nice Guy an’ just told her you were
already with somebody else, you wouldn’t be in this mess, now would ya?”
Tamahome fumed, knowing damn
well Tasuki was right. “I’m still going
to pound you for this!”
Tasuki stood, still
laughing. “Promises, promises. Ya can’t even get up right now, ya sure
cain’t catch me. Just pull yer pants up
an’ stop bitchin’, ya big baby. ‘Bye!”
With that, Tasuki was gone,
leaving Tamahome behind seething.
********
Ah Ha Ha! Tasuki got to be the logical one in the
“Don’t look at me” scene! I love it.
Stay tuned for the next chapter
in which Tamahome gets a little (a lot of) revenge, and does some
serious bonding with his inner pervert.
To tasukigirl78: Ah, fanservice
is a wonderful thing. You know, for a
show that had mostly guys, we sure didn’t get much naked man action! Ah well, I do what I can to make up for
it. ^_^ I’m glad you liked it!
Sankyuu!!
To Yahnkehy: Miaka really needed to see exactly what
Tamahome left her for. Thankfully that
scene wrote itself. If I’d stopped to
think about it, my brain would have short-circuited. ^_^ As for Taiitsukun, oh
yeah. The guys are so gonna get
spied on! And you’re quite welcome for
not killing any of the Suzaku seven off.
I love ‘em all! ^_^ Thank yew, thank yew!
