You Remember Me?
Tick, tock, tick, tock...
The large hand shifted another minute and mangled within the bed sheets Carly sat up straight in alert. Her dark hair was tangled in massive knots and her forehead was beaded with sweat from the twisted nightmare she had awoken from. The small room which she accupied was cloaked in complete darkness and the only source of light came from the bottom of the door.
Gasping, gradually regaining her breathing she untwisted the sheets, tossed them aside than, met the golden carpet with the soles of her feet. She waited a minute listening for that particular noise that had awoken her from her sleep. There was only silence. The girl turned her head to the side staring at the window, its flowery designed curtains pulled back. The sky was a pool of endless black. The stars asleep. The moon half drugged. She shifted her attention back to the door. A shadow flew by swift and silent. Her heart skipped a beat because she knew she had securely locked all the doors, shut all the windows. And she was the only person living in the house. Could it be a thief? A rappist? or worse a psycopath someome looking for amusement? Well, there was one way to find out.
Carly appraoched the door, the carpet concealing her footsteps, reached for the knobbed but instantly paused midway. The buttered-yellow light had been concealed by a shadow. And than, the knob began to turn. Trembling, she stepped backwards heart thumbing harshly beneath her breasts. Her breaths came short now almost hallow.
The knob twisted, slowly around.
The lock came undone with a click.
The door opened a crack leting in a little more of the light. A voice rose low at first than, higher and it came clear who the voice belonged to.
You remember me Carly? it screeched as if nails running down on a blackboard.
" No! ", the girl screamed remembering...
And again she awoke with a start gasping, drenched in sweat from yet another of the hundreds of horror of the darkness.
