The Cold

            Chapter Three: The Cold

Disclaimer: I do not own O.H.S.H.C.

A/N: This chapter is weird and lacks the smoothness I tried to incorporate into my story. So I
may delete this chapter and try again. But then again my entire story lacks smoothness so I amy
Just start over on the whole thing.

Haruhi stared at the note in clenched between white knuckled hands. The words jumped
off the page at her. Memories of that night years ago consumed her and everything else faded
into the background.

Everything was crimson. Red was every where as if some one had decided to paint the
room. Haruhi was shaking violently, eyes taking in the sight that seemed out of a nightmare. It
wasn’t paint. She knew better. She knew where the red came from. The source was lying in front
of her. She took a hesitant step toward the mangled body in the center of the class room.

“Yuki,” she rasped out as she got closer, her voice breaking. As she got closer she could
clearly see the gaping wound someone had ripped into the boys still chest. Even in the poor light
she could see it all. Her cousin was dead.

            “... ruhi.”

            “Haruhi!”

Haruhi was jolted in to the present by someone shaking her. Her eyes focused and took in
Tamakis worried face in front of her. He was calling her name and shaking her. “Haruhi what’s
wrong.”

She was vaguely aware that the customers were no longer in the room and that the rest of
the host were standing looking at her. A forced laugh made her way out of her mouth.
“ Nothing’s wrong. I just spaced out.”

Disbelief was written across the their faces.

“Oh really,” Kyoya spoke up coolly. He walked over closer and held out a familiar sheet
of paper in front of her face. “Then I suppose you don’t mind telling us what this means or why
you started crying after you read it.” His voice booked no arguments. Any one who had spent
even a few minutes with the man could tell you that he was not requesting information no matter
how he phrased it. He was giving an order and expected to be obeyed.

Haruhi tensed up as she realized she no longer held the short note in her hands. She
wasn’t aware that she had been crying. But as she lifted her hand to cheek she found it wet.
Inwardly she cursed the lack of control she had over her own body.

Kyoya still stood there with the note light reflecting off his glasses. He was waiting for
an answer. How ever with the scare she had just received she had no intention of being
forthcoming. She reached up and snatched the note from his hand faster that he could withdraw
it. Her eyes narrowed slightly and her protective stubborn nature rearing it’s head. She
absolutely refused to get them involved with that part of her life.

“It’s none of your business. Keep out of it.”

Haruhi could swear she felt the temperature of the room drop as Kyoya stiffened. She
saw him open his mouth to say something but was saved when Hani suddenly piped up.

“You were crying Haru and we are your friends. Naturally it’s our business.” He griped
the sleeve of her dress and looked at her face large eyes searching. He was surprised at the look
of stark terror that crossed her face at the word ‘friends’. “What’s wrong Haru?”

She stood up abruptly. “ I said nothing was wrong,” she snapped as she pushed tamaki
out of the way and shook Hanis hand off of her dress. “ I am going home.” With that she stood
up an practical ran out of the room leaving the hosts to standing there.

Tamakis eyebrows furrowed in worry as he stared after her. “Something is defiantly
wrong,” he declared loudly. “My daughter was not herself.” He sat down gracefully his legs
crossed and a hand cradling his chin. “Mother, what did the note say,” he asked turning to Kyoya
for the answer.

When Haruhi had spaced out Kyoya had been the one to take the note from her hands and
made the twins get the customers out of the room. They did so ignoring the sounds of worry
from the girls who now considered the petite girl their friend.

Kyoya pulled out his ever present folder and wrote something down in it before snapping
it closed and answering. “It said “ I told you I would find you”.”

Hikaru plopped down on the couch next to Tamaki an eyebrow raised. “ I told you I
would find you? Sounds creepy.”

Kaoru joined his brother sitting slightly more gracefully than his older brother. “Did, you
see the look on Haruhis face? It really must had scared her to get that reaction out of her. The
only thing I know that scares her like that is thunder.” He ran a hand through his spiky red hair.
It was then that he asked a question that had been plaguing everyones mind since Renge had
pulled the brought the note. “ I wonder who gave Renge that note.”

Haruhi ran across the school grounds desperate to get to the safety of her home. At the
moment she didn’t even care that she left her bag in the music room. Even as she tried to think
logically that the note could have been from anyone she knew otherwise. The description Renge
gave was sticking in her mind. Muscled, good looking, tall. True it was vague and could fit
anyone, but how many Japanese males had blue eyes.

She only knew of a couple, and she only knew of one who had ever said those word to
her.

Amusement made full lips quirk upwards as he watched his love race across the cement.
He knew she would get it’s meaning. She was very intelligent after all.

He had been forced away from her but he was back. This time he would make her see
that they needed each other. But first, he thought blue eyes moving back up to the school, he
would need to take care of some problems that had popped up in his absence.

A/N: The third chapter. Done. Tell me what you think.
