Chapter Three:
Several minutes after Bad Luck escaped the press conference (well, it was mostly Hiro and Suguru escaping, though Shuuichi did find the need to dodge his friends/bandmates the same way they were dodging questions and camera flashes), Shuuichi could still be found gloating over his plan's success--albeit in the privacy of a broom closet on the lower floor of NG, near the parking garage. Moments later, he was no longer alone as the door was pushed open and the chain to the light overhead was pulled, flooding the small room with light and the visage of his spectacularly cosplayed sister.
"Okay, nii-san, you got what you wanted. Now pay up!" the younger Shindou sibling demanded without preamble, holding her hands out expectantly.
Shuu smiled at his sister. "Hello to you, too, my dear imouto. Love the outfit, by the way," he said sarcastically, though he was actually mostly sincere. He had a real respect for outrageous cosplay, and he thought his sister pulled it off nicely.
"Thank you," Maiko answered in kind, knowing her brother's undertone and appreciating it. She knew her disguise was awesome.
"I don't think Hiro even recognized you at first," Shuu added, with more of his sincerity in his tone. "What's with that hat, though? Didn't you used to wear a brown Dick Tracey hat?"
Maiko adjusted her big, floppy, red hat, causing the large, brown peahen feather to wave about. "My head grew into it since I last wore it when we were kids. It didn't hide my face anymore, so I found this in a trunk of Great-Aunt Kaoru's stuff in the attic."
Shuuichi snickered at his sister's "big head." He was usually the one being accused of that, though in his case it wasn't quite so literal.
Maiko glowered. "Enough about my costume, already! Where's my payment?!"
"Alright, alright, you did a good job. So, here you go," Shuu replied, pulling a brown paper bag out from somewhere behind him.
Maiko took it greedily, quickly rifling through to be sure she was paid in full. Her wide, rabid grin gradually faded and then fell altogether as she took inventory of her loot.
Pulling out a small Ziploc bag, she held it up and demanded, "What is this?"
"Clippings of Yuki's hair, of course."
"But I wanted pubic hair! I already have regular clippings, remember?"
"I never agreed to that," Shuu reminded her, shaking his head. Then he held up a righteous fist and declared, "I'm the only one that gets to touch Yuki's pubic hair, even if it's no longer attached to his body!"
Maiko pouted, but rolled her eyes and dropped the baggie back into the paper bag. Moving on, she pulled out another plastic zipper bag and examined it. Looking at her brother accusingly, Maiko asked, "What's in this tissue?"
"Yuki's snot," Shuuichi answered matter-of-factly.
Maiko hugged, "You know that's not what I meant when I said I wanted a tissue with "bodily fluids"!"
"What? It's not?" Shuu asked innocently.
"What kind of useless brother are you? You're Yuki-sensei's lover and you can't do a simple thing like jack him off or suck him off and collect his cum in a tissue? It's not like I asked you to save it in a sterile tube!"
'Like I wanted to' remained unsaid, but they both knew the other knew it was there, lurking between the lines. It made Shuuichi fight a shudder at the implications and the thought of what his sister's intentions for such a specimen would be. The thought of being the uncle to his lover's illegitimate child, conceived with stolen sperm, really creeped him out. Though the idea that he would get to see what a child with his and Yuki's genes would look like was appealing--and that almost creeped him out even more. Rather than ponder those disturbing thoughts any further, the pinked haired boy continued playing innocent.
"Well, I'm sorry, all you said was "certain bodily fluids." I assumed you meant the ones normally found in a tissue. How was I supposed to know you wanted cum in a kleenex? I mean, it's not exactly like I ever spit it out," he gloated cheekily.
Maiko grew red in the face--both from her brother's candid comment about his and Yuki's sex life and from jealousy.
"Fine," she finally growled relentingly, dropping the baggie back in and pulling out the last item--a zipper-sealed gallon bag containing a blue pillowcase. Narrowing her eyes dangerously at her brother, Maiko demanded, "You swear this is really Yuki-sensei's?"
"Yes! Okay? It's really his, fresh from his pillow this morning!"
"Then why do I see a drool stain on it?!" She shoved the bag in his face, tapping said stain through the clear plastic. "Yuki-sensei doesn't drool!"
Shuu held up his hands in defense under his sister's tangible murderous intent. "I can't help it if I drool in my sleep, and sometimes steal Yuki's pillow!" He would never tell her that Yuki did drool in his sleep--only he was allowed to know private details like that!
The two siblings had a stare down, but after a few minutes, Maiko again conceded. After all, if she shared a bed with the gorgeous novelist, she would surely do more than her fair share of drooling also, though she would be loathe to admit any of it would end up on his pillow. Besides, what could she do? Her part of the deal was already complete, and she really couldn't take it back now. Even if she could, she knew she wouldn't. After all, she was secretly a member of the Hiro/Suguru BL fanclub, and had a stash of doujinshi hidden in her room.
Maiko told herself that next time, she would just have to make sure to get the payment up front.
She left the broom closet moments later, happy if not completely satisfied, with an I.O.U. for V.I.P. tickets to Bad Luck's Christmas performance the next night for her and her friends added to her bag of loot. As she left the building to catch up to her fellow journalist on her way back to school, the female Shindou wondered to herself if she had enough DNA collected yet to make a clone of Yuki-sensei. She would need to call in one of the favors the science geeks at school owed her.

As Hiro and Suguru fled the press conference as quickly as dignity allowed, Noriko left Sakano to deal with the aftermath and chased after them. A scathing glare and violent shake of a red head before a door slammed nearly in her face told her just how welcome she was in Hiro's case, so she decided to direct her attention on the youngest member of the band for the time being.
Suguru seemed to be the one most shaken by recent events. So much so that he didn't even seem to notice Noriko's approach--unstealthy as it was with her high-heeled boots clacking against the tile of the nearly-empty hallway. She tailed him as he stalked through the building, pulling at his hair until it was stuck up at all angles and muttering angrily to himself. Finally coming to what he'd apparently decided was his destination, Suguru opened the door of an empty studio and went inside. Noriko followed, amazed when she still remained undetected despite having to open the door for herself after he'd shut it. When she entered, the room was low-lit--almost dark--and Suguru was banging his head repeatedly against a wall.
"Why..." Suguru suddenly asked with a bang of his head, making Noriko rethink her previous assumption that she'd gone unnoticed.
"...does Shindou..." Suguru continued with another bang of his head. "...insist..." Bang. "...on..." Bang. "...humiliating..." Bang. "...me..." Bang. "...constantly lately?!" Bang, bang!
If there was any doubt left in Noriko as to whether Suguru was aware of her presence, it evaporated as he turned a sharp glare towards her suddenly, his forehead still against the wall.
"And why is it," he continued. "That everyone seems to be in on it but Nakano-san and I? Why are we suddenly the victims in Shindou's apparently-office-side conspiracy?"
Noriko didn't know what to say. Obviously, Suguru couldn't handle the real answer.
Suguru didn't wait for her to reply, anyway.
"And why this? I mean, do I seriously give off a gay vibe? No... it can't be that. Hiro's straight, after all. Maybe because Shindou's gay and Hiro and I are so straight, he feels the inexplicable need to mess with us! That must be it! But... Shindou already knows I have no interest in either sex. All I care about is my music and the occasional RPG..."
Suguru was so caught up in his tangent-turned-rambling, he seemed to have forgotten Noriko was in the room at all. Not only that, but he'd seamlessly returned to saying 'Hiro' again without even realizing it.
"...and Hiro and I are barely even friends, let alone as close as lovers!"
From the high-strung emotions he'd apparently attached to the subject of he and Hiro's plight, Noriko was convinced Fujisaki Suguru was in deep denial--both about his sexuality and his feelings for Hiro.
Noriko sighed loudly, interrupting Suguru's rant. "Poor Nakano," she sighed again and shook her head.
Suguru blinked at her. "'Poor Nakano'? What about 'poor Fujisaki'?! At least Nakano-san has been in a relationship already, so his sexuality isn't actually in question despite all the pranks Shindou pulls!"
Noriko's only reply was a roll of her eyes and another sigh as she left the room, closing the door behind her.
Suguru was left frowning in the darkness.
*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*
The following night found the members of Bad Luck decidedly more out of sorts than normal.
Suguru was frowning at everyone more than usual, his fiercest glares being directed at Shuuichi, of course. The only person he wasn't frowning at--or even looking at in general, in fact--was Hiro. He found looking at the black denim and leopard print-clad guitarist for any length of time ignited that familiar and troubling blushing and tingling affliction of the very recent past. In order to avoid any humiliation that would be caused by his body's obviously misfiring nerve signals and unruly blood vessels, Suguru directed all the attention not being spent on glaring at Shuuichi on reading over the night's set list for the hundredth time.
Hiro was really frustrated by Shuuichi's recent conniving. No matter how hard he worked at getting over his attraction to Suguru, Shuuichi was always there hitting him over the head with it full-force. Not only did Shuuichi constantly talk about it, making suggestive comments and giving "advice", but twice now, he'd forced Suguru's lips against his. Not that Hiro really minded much, hormonally speaking of course, but poor Suguru, who was utterly clueless about Hiro's true feelings, was clearly put off by Shuu's antics. Hiro was an honest guy, especially to himself, and truth be told it was obvious he and Suguru had no chance in hell of ever having a romantic relationship. That being said, he knew the potential was there for friendship, at least, and he wholeheartedly wished to continue his pursuits in that direction. If only Shuu would stop freaking Suguru out every chance he got, causing the younger keyboardist to distance himself from his bandmates once again.
Hiro was so distracted by his distressing thoughts, he'd already broken two guitar strings while trying to tune his guitar. The fact that Suguru seemed to be ignoring him altogether now didn't help his mindset, either. A glanced in the teen's direction told Hiro the keyboardist was indeed still refusing to look at him, and it made the guitarist's heart sink. Their friendship would never get anywhere at this rate. Sugur probably thought he was in on this whole thing, too, and that's why he was ignoring him. Hell, even Shuuichi was still getting glared at. Hiro was the only person Suguru was mad enough at that he refused to even acknowledge his existence!
That thought made Hiro break his third guitar string of the night--and the show hadn't even started yet! Glaring reproachfully at Shuuichi, Hiro stood with his guitar and walked off, a stage hand following hastily with a new set of strings as the guitarist looked for a place to finish his preparations without distraction.
Shuuichi had been so deeply rooted in his gloating all day that he'd completely missed his opportunity for pre-performance Yuki-seduction. Once he realized his mistake, it was too late and he was left disappointed and sexually frustrated. He'd hoped he'd get his 'pikapika' back and be able to perform with his usual spirit and energy once he met up with his bandmates and saw the fruits of his labor, but those hopes were dashed with the glares he was met with as he made his entrance to their shared dressing room at the concert venue.
Shuuichi really didn't understand what their problem was. It only took one kiss for him to fall in love with Yuki, and Hiro and Suguru had had two! To top it all off, now his best friend was mad at him!
Shuuichi was in a funk, and he didn't know how to get out of it.
When Bad Luck finally took the stage that night, they were a band of three solitary members, united only in their detyermination to not let their off-stage lives affect the quality of their performance. Nevertheless, it did inevitably affect it. Despite the fact that every chord was played perfectly, every note sung on pitch, and every beat timed precisely, their usual spark was missing. The feeling was all wrong in both the music and Shuuichi's voice, and a dedicated fan with an ear for that sort of thing couldn't help but notice. However, the crowd was a frenzy of exuberant, screaming fans, and the actual notes and lyrics could barely be heard over the excitement of the crowd. So, despite the snage, Bad Luck's unofficial kickoff to their upcoming tour went off without a noticeable hitch.
Once the boys left the stage, they returned to thei shared dressing room to clean up and cool off for a few minutes before being led off to a room to meet a handful of their fans.
As the show had progressed, the fans' exuberance had reenergized Shuuichi, and he'd actually ended the performance in his best pikapika form. As they walked into the room and were greeted with cries of, "I love you, Bad Luck/Hiro/Shuuichi/Suguru-kun!", "Merry Christmas!", and screams of general glee, he was even more energized and felt like bouncing around the room, permanent pen at the ready. The other two members of Bad Luck weren't quite so sugar high in their exuberance, but it was a thrilling experience to be greeted that way, especially after a tiring show.
'A handful' turned out to be about twenty girls and five boys--two of which were part of the group of four friends Maiko had brought with her, courtesy of Shuuichi's excellent negotioation skils (AKA: hassling the people in charge with much exuberance until they gave him the tickets he'd promised his little sister.). With all the teens in the room, though, only Shuuichi noticed his sister's attendance, and the siblings smiled deviously at each other as their eyes met momentarily.
More squeals and a couple fainting spells accompanied the boys' approach to the group, at which time they smiled, shook hands, hugged, and signed autographs for the group. Then a group photo was organized before each person was given the chance for an individual photo with the band or member of their choice.
As usual, Hiro got the most requests for individual photos, tying with requests for photos with the whole band. Pictures with Hiro and Shuuichi together and Shuuichi alone ran a close second and third, respectively.
Suguru was used to being the odd man out, with little to no requests for pictures with him. He was the odd man out in most things--musical genius, maturity beyond his years, lack of real sexual preference, chosen lack of interest in sex or relationships--so it was nothing new, really. Besides, Hiro was the hottest member of the band, so who could blame them?
Suguru almost smacked himself when he realized his errant thought, but refrained for the sake of his dignity. Just in time, too, because at that moment, a girl approached him, shy smile on her face, hands clutched timidly to her chest, and asked him for a picture. Often, when this happened, Suguru would be offended because he usually only got requests out of pity, or because the others were too busy and the fan didn't want to wait. However, this girl seemed sincere enough, so he took no offense.
Agreeing, as that was currently part of his job as a 'pop icon', Suguru nodded and made to pose with her, when she stopped him.
"Oh, not just you, though," she corrected him.
Now, Suguru may be used to not being the top choice, but that didn't mean he had to like it. The sour look that erupted on his face was proof enough of that, but he forced it off quickly.
"I suppose you want one of Shindou and I?" he asked as amicably as he could manage.
Inexplicably, there had been, not one, but two requests for pictures together with him and Shuuichi. However, the girl shook her head 'no' to this.
"All three of us, then?" he suggested.
Again, a negative head shake, and the girl started turning red as she replied, "Actually... I was wondering if I could get one with you and Nakano-kun."
Suguru's eyes went wide--not only from her request but because before the words had fully left her lips, Shindou had heard and began loudly calling for Hiro to come over so the fans could take pictues with "the new couple."
Both Suguru and Hiro's denials of the fans assumption that Shindou's words were fact fell on deaf ears, as at least a third of the girls and one boy made a beeline to take pictues with them. Some even took multiple shots with their own cameras or phones. Once they got started, it was a whirlwind of commotion and Suguru was hardly more than a poseable doll for several minutes until the photo session was finally called to a close. He was pretty sure someone had groped him somewhere in the process, too.
Just as Suguru was warring with himself about feeling so happy at all the attention despite the circumstances they were under, a familiar female voice rang out from the crowd.
"Wait, just one more, please?"
Suguru looked up at the plea and saw, to his horror, the same girl from the press conference--this time sans the outrageous getup. Before his shock wore off, she'd squeezed through the remainder of the crowd, grabbed him and Hiro, squished them together with Hiro in the middle and her arms wrapped around them both from Hiro's side, tight enough to steal his breath.
"Smile!" the photographer called, before the bright flash went off and just as his vision was filled with bright purple spots, Suguru heard Nakano say through gritted teeth, "Shindou Maiko, what are you doing here?"
And that was when Suguru knew his conspiracy theory involving Shindou had enormous merit.
"What? Can't I come see my big brother and his best friend's band without being asked my intentions?" the girl identified as Maiko replied.
And the more she talked, he realized how similar the siblings were--in both looks and personality. Though, of course, Maiko didn't have the shockingly dyed pink hair, the similarities were still there. It was almost eerie. And it made him dread the night ahead as he noticed the laminated V.I.P. pass hanging around her neck and the necks of four more teens--her apparent companions, one of whom he was almost positive was the boy that had groped him earlier.
Oh, yes, this was going to be a long night, indeed.
*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*~~~~~~~~~~*
After all was said and done, the appropriate amount of time was spent schmoozing with their fans who'd pair for backstage passes, and the kids were sent on their way, Maiko and her V.I.P. friends still remained as the band members took reprieve on one of the couches provided in the lounge area backstage. The stagehands and roadies had long since packed up their gear and returned it to NG, and the boys of Bad Luck were just waiting for these last few kids to take the hint and leave so they could, too.
It had been a long couple of days and all they wanted right then was to sleep for a week before starting their tour. Even Shuuichi was becoming tired again, especially since he hadn't seen a sign of Yuki yet, despite his having wrangled a sixth V.I.P. ticket out of management especially for his lover. But Hiro and Suguru were more than ready for them to leave, as they'd suddenly become the topic of discussion again.
"So, Hiro-kun, Suguru-kun," Maiko addressed the two, sitting down on the same couch Bad Luck was on, squeezing between Shuuichi and Hiro so that Hiro and Suguru were forced to press against each other's sides.
Suguru frowned, "Who gave you permission to use my given name?"
Maiko smiled cheekily and her friends laughed. "Now, now, Suguru-kun, is that any way to talk to your fans?"
Suguru grumbled under his breath but made no further attempts to correct Maiko as she went on.
"As I was saying... how about a real kiss before we all shove outta here?"
Maiko's friends giggled, except for one boy who rolled his eyes.
At her words, both boys stiffened, and Hiro noticed that Suguru's fingers on the arms he'd crossed against himself were now white with the strength of his grip.
That was the last straw for Hiro, and he growled as he angrily pushed himself off the couch and away from the warm, oh-so-inviting-despite-its-stiff-uptightness side of Suguru.
"Okay, Maiko, that's enough! I don't know what Shuuichi did to get you to do this, but it's not going to work! Stop it now!"
Maiko blinked up at him confusedly. "I don't know what you're talking about, Hiro-kun," she said innocently.
Hiro glared at her, turning to stomp off.
"Wait!" she said, leaping up after him. "Maybe I did let him bribe me to do it the first time, but he has no hand in it this time, I swear! It was just so cute yesterday, I have to see it again! For real this time!"
Hiro's glare lessened slightly with his shock, but it was still there. "I can't believe I used to think you were the more rational one," he chastised lowly, then finally stalked from the room.
Hoping he could make an escape while she was distracted, Suguru made a break for it in the opposite direction, only to be stopped short by the sound of the other girls' coices calling after him.
"Going off to rendezvous secretly?"
"They just can't bear to keep their hands off each other a minute longer!" the other girl answered gigglingly.
"Ah, young love," the first boy joined in, glasping his hands together.
There was so much wrong with their statements, Suguru thought, not the least of which was the fact they could hardly call him young when they were probably the same age as him.
"Ugh, will you three lay off? It's seriously getting sickening," the second boy groaned.
Suguru had to agree; he was starting to feel quite sick to his stomach from this whole fiasco.
"Aw, but Shigure-kun~!" the first boy chorused with the girls.
Suguru could just imagine the other boy rolling his eyes at his friends again and joined in on the action with his back still turned to them.
"We just love them as a couple!" the first girl declared with a sigh.
Exasperated beyond his limit--and given that he'd grown nearly accustomed to being around Shuuichi regularly, that was saying something--Suguru suddenly turned and exclaimed, "Why the hell is everyone and Shindou's sister trying to make it seem like there's something going on between Nakano-san and I?!"
"For someone who's supposed to be a genius, you sure are slow on the uptake, kid," a new voice answered the frustrated teen cooly.
Everyone turned towards the owner of the voice to see the one and only Yuki Eiri had graced the room with his presence.
Triple squeals of "Yuki-sensei!" were easily drowned out by Shuuichi's own exclamation.
"Yuki!" the singer cried, jumping up to glomp his lover. "I wasn't sure if you were coming!"
"I'm surprised you didn't squeal, too, Sousuke," the boy called Shigure remarked to his friend as they watched the scene playing out before them.
"Nah. I mean, Yuki-sensei's hot, sure, but his books aren't really my style. Too tragic and dramatic. I prefer my romance cute and fluffy," Sousuke answered.
"And gay," Shigure interjected.
Sousuke smiled, "Well, there is that, too."
"But isn't all BL romance tragic and dramatic?"
"How would you know that?" Sousuke asked suggestively.
Shigure rolled his eyes and sighed, his chin in his hand as he watched the girls try to glomp Yuki as well. "With friends like you four, how could I not?"
Amidst the ensuing chaos, no one noticed Suguru leave the room, brows furrowed deeply.

Omake: (On the way home)
Shigure: You know, given the relationship between Shindou-san and Yuki-sensei, you'd think he would write BL romance. I mean, it's not like his reading audience would change much. He'd probably get more popular then.
Sousuke: Yeah! I mean, I'd totally give him a chance then.
Girl #1: You know, I heard a rumor that Yuki-sensei has written at least one, but it won't ever be published.
Girl #2: What?! That's not fair! He could at least publish it under a pseudonymn!
Maiko: I bet he won't publish it because it's about my brother.
Sousuke, Girls #1 & 2: Ooooh~!
Shigure: Ew.
(meanwhile, back in a certain dressing room of a nearly vacant concert hall...)
Shuuichi: *sneezes like WHOA*
Yuki: *annoyed and in slight pain* hey, watch it!
Shuu: Sorry, Yuki! *swallows Yuki's cock again*

A/N: Hey, all! Sorry it's been a bit. Situation won't be much different for awhile, cuz not only do I still not have internet of my own, but my comp is dead!!!! *cries* But anyway!!
I had fun writing this, despite the fact I had to write it manually in a notebook. I had even more fun reading it to ren over the phone for content beta (due to my current lack of comp/internet/easy access to public comp/internet). I know I kinda skipped over whatever happened backstage with the fans, but it wasn't really important... anyway! Hope you guys enjoyed reading it just as much as I did writing it! Let me know your thoughts!!
Sorry I don't have time for individual review replies, but thank you all so much for all your comments!! Please keep them coming, and I'll do my best to keep writing while I'm without compage!!
