AN: I can hardly believe that I updated this IN FEBRUARY. WTH... Makes me cry, seriously. THANK YOU to everyone who has bothered to have a look or even read this story. Special thanks to jishe for the review. I hope you realize there is finally a new chapter! And that there will be at least one more chapter although I wasn’t supposed to write any of that...but Sanji thinks otherwise, uh.
One more thing I want to mention before the fic itself (of course you can skip all this and I think that’s what everyone does anyway) is that I really wanted to write that about Sanji in this chapter. I can’t remember if anyone has mentioned that particular feature anywhere, if it even is a feature...but there it is in this fic now. I suppose what really happened to Sanji has got nothing much to do with reality but it’s Grand Line so whatever. Kind of hard to explain without spoiling everything.
Lastly, I’ve wanted to show this piece of fanart by a Japanese artist because it shows the situation where this story began and what the title means: http://no18.sakura.ne.jp/s_t/e/two/32.htm
And here is the next part of the fic:

Since I had never owned any kind of a watch or a clock, I had absolutely no idea just how long we had stayed at the beach. The only things that I did perceive was the fact that the sun had gotten up in the sky and the sunlight had suddenly started to feel nearly scorching compared to when we had gone swimming in the bay. And other than that, Sanji had begun to feel somewhat nauseous - the direct sunlight didn’t seem to be good for his fair complexion.
Because there hadn’t been any reason for us to get dressed - making out without clothes was much more fun than when fully clad -, we had stayed more or less naked until it honestly seemed that the cook just might have gotten a sunstroke, even though we had been taking care of the fluid balance all the time. It wasn’t merely the headache that he had started to complain about, but I had also noticed he had become pretty listless. I told him we should get ready to go back as soon as possible and then he told me he wasn’t feeling very painful, but was aware of the fact that he might not be able to walk back to the ship after all. Something like that wouldn’t be a problem since he was as light as a feather to me. But first of all I decided to help him to get dressed before returning to the ship. If someone else had come back already, I certainly didn’t want them to see me carrying the cook without a stitch of clothes on him.
I opened my backpack and took his clothes out first. It was kind of sad that I wasn’t going to get the chance to enjoy the sexy briefs I’d picked for him earlier, but perhaps he’d wear them some other time. When I was pulling the undies on him, he peered at me through his fringe.
“Damn it, I was saving those for...” he tried to start grumbling but I stopped him before he could get any further.
“It doesn’t matter when you wear them as long as you wear them for me,” I murmured while putting on his socks and then began to tug the trouser legs of his slacks over his legs. Suddenly he started to laugh again so I turned to look at him perplexedly. “You should’ve worn a hat ‘cause the heat’s getting to your head as well, ero cook.”
“A ha ha ha hah!” he just laughed making it even harder for me to get his stupid slacks on. “What a strange day it is indeed! Here I am, lying more or less helplessly on this beautiful sandy beach with a shitty swordsman who’s actually putting my damn clothes back on instead of taking them off. You know, I couldn’t have imagined that something like this would happen. And I mean not ever.”
I couldn’t quite understand what he was talking about and perhaps he could see that from my expression, although his fluffy golden fringe was covering most of his face at the moment.
“Stupid marimo...” he muttered. “Though I do appreciate it that you’re not taking advantage of my current state.”
As soon as I’d tugged the slacks over his hips and fastened the zipper, I lifted him up from the sand into a sitting position and brushed the bangs from his eyes. I gave him a very serious look and tried to get the message through my eyes instead of words that might have started an unnecessary fight. Then I carried on by helping him to get that clean shirt on, even did every button on that pesky dress shirt.
“Zoro...” he whispered but I didn’t want to say anything back to him. Of course I’d take advantage of every possible moment I simply could, but I wasn’t a complete moron.
After I’d put his shoes on as well, I helped the cook go lie down on his dried towel for the while that I could get dressed, too. I supposed we were both feeling quite awkward about the situation but nothing was going to change it anymore.
“Chopper’s gonna be really pissed off with me...” I mumbled while tying my shoelaces. And I thought the cook understood very well what I meant. “Luffy might not be pleased, either, ‘cause you won’t be cooking anything today.”
“Wasn’t this supposed to be my day off?” he snorted and watched how I gathered our other things back into the basket and my backpack, and placed my swords back where they belonged.
“If we’re in luck, they might have not come back yet,” I commented crouching beside him and lifted him on my back. He truly was so light that I could hardly feel his weight on me. The only real proof of carrying him was that he swung his arms around my neck and soon I could feel him panting against my shoulder. “Though it might be better that at least Chopper would be there already,” I added picking up all of our things from the sand to carry them in my left hand.
“I’ll be alright,” Sanji said with a light-hearted tone but I refused to believe him. “But will you be alright? Can you really take us back to the ship without getting lost, you retarded swordsman?”
It didn’t sound like he would’ve been picking a fight with me but his comment still made me grunt. However, instead of getting angry with him, I decided to show him that I could get us back to the Sunny in no time at all.
On the beach it was easy to follow our footprints but after that I wasn’t sure where I should’ve gone. Left or right or possibly just continue forward? From the spot where I was standing, it was already impossible to see our ship anymore, and for some strange reason I couldn’t even remember the direction where I’d seen it when we had been swimming. Luckily the cook was still conscious enough to give me some help with the directions because in the end I was pretty useless. A fact that I didn’t want to admit although it was the cruel truth that I had to face this time. To me it was quite a surprise that it actually didn’t take more than a few minutes that the Sunny was back in sight. But it was definitely for the better. As quickly as possible I needed to take the cook straight to the infirmary although at first he had to tell me how to get there.
The air in the little room was wonderfully cool when I put Sanji on the bed to lie down. His breathing began to abate which was a good sign. I was going to go out and see if anyone else was around, but right then from the corner of my eye I noticed how his hand was reaching for me.
“What is it?”
“I hadn’t thought about it before...” he mumbled staring at the ceiling. “You didn’t clean up the mess in the crow’s nest before you left, right?”
“No, I didn’t,” I replied bluntly.
“Well, you might not fucking care about such things at all, but I’m not too happy about the idea of someone else stumbling upon the heap of filthy tissues on the floor. It’s just too obvious what’s happened in there,” he said putting his arm over his eyes. Momentarily I thought he must have felt rather embarrassed. He still didn’t want the others to know what we were doing together and I’d promised to keep it a secret as well as I could.
“Fine, I’ll go and clean it up now,” I sighed. “Will you be alright if I go?”
“As long as Luffy won’t raid the galley while I’m asleep,” he replied with a faint smile on his face. “And he’ll be damned if he dares to do it.”
“Good, I’ll keep an eye on him,” I said giving him a grin just before I opened the door and went to check up on the situation on board.
The waves that gently rocked against the hull of the ship was everything I could hear and although I strained my senses briefly, I couldn’t feel anyone else’s presence. After all, it was such a beautiful day that the others must have wanted to enjoy it to the fullest in their own ways before the log would be set and we’d be on our way towards new adventures and the next island. But I had to get up to the crow’s nest and make it look like nothing suspicious had been going on there.
When I climbed up with a trash bag that I’d found from the men’s quarters where I’d taken our stuff first, it certainly was quite a sight, even for myself. Just in case I opened one of the windows and let some fresh air in before I started to pick up the tissues into the trash bag and finally gathered the makeshift bedding from the floor.
As I dabbled around the secluded area, I grinned widely to myself recalling the other night with the cook. His abnormal flexibility never ceased to surprise me no matter what we did with each other when we were together intimately. The sex we had most likely wasn’t going to become tedious abruptly since he happened to have such a salacious body, and on top of that, an extremely dirty mouth even in bed. Both of those features were very much to my personal liking. Therefore it was certainly a big shame that we probably weren’t going to get the chance to become raunchy any time soon, even if my cock was nearly ready to get some action right away. Sighing out loud because of the unfortunate situation, I took the filled trash bag with me back to the deck to throw it away.
Since the cook needed to get some rest and I didn’t feel like training, I ended up taking out the laundry kit, and decided to wash the dirty clothes I’d stuffed in my backpack and some others that had been waiting for the right moment. I had my bandana wrapped around my head when I started on the task, and by the time when I was hanging the clean laundry up on one of the ropes that was used as a clothesline every now and then, I heard some familiar voices nearby as I was pulling the bandana off to swipe the sweat from my face.
“Zoro, why are you doing the laundry?” Was what I heard before any greetings. But it was okay since it really was rather unusual for me to do something like that on my own, on top of that, voluntarily.
“Where’s Sanji? There’s no smoke coming from the chimney.”
I braced myself for whatever I was going to get from them; Luffy had come back with Chopper and Usopp, and thus I decided to address my words straight to our doctor. And just like I’d guessed, I got badly scolded by him. Chopper couldn’t understand why I’d let the cook get into such a state, especially when I knew what it would mean to the whole crew without him cooking us meals. I thought he approved my apology mainly because Luffy wasn’t angry about what had happened. And in the end, everyone admitted that they just wanted him to get better soon.
Naturally, Chopper went to have a look at Sanji right away. The three of us were just standing on the deck for a while before Usopp had something to say as well.
“Since the situation is what it happens to be and ‘cause Luffy is as hungry as always, I suppose it’s better that I go to the galley, right?”
I just nodded while Luffy grinned happily.
“Chopper will make Sanji feel better in nothing flat, I’m sure of that,” our captain said so confidently that we both believed it immediately. And of course we trusted our doctor as well. “But Zoro, I must say that I’m a tiny bit disappointed in you. Even if you don’t like Sanji and always fight with him, he’s still your nakama, an important part of our crew. You do understand that, right?”
The tone of Luffy’s voice had gotten more serious and his expression was more captain-like than in a long time. His words proved that at least he wasn’t aware of what kind of a relationship the cook and I actually had, but it was completely fine with me. And on the other hand, I had deserved the reproach he had given me.
“I’m sorry. And yes, I understand what you mean.”
“Good. Then let’s go to the galley and eat!” Luffy yelled as if nothing out of the ordinary had happened just a moment ago.

Usopp was still cooking something and trying his best to keep our hungry captain from snatching bits and pieces of whatever he was making, when Chopper stepped into the galley from the infirmary.
“How is Sanji doing?” Luffy was the first one to speak.
“He needs to get some rest and drink fluids. I think he will be alright quite soon but a part of his skin will definitely exfoliate sooner or later,” Chopper explained as he walked to the kitchen table and sat down.
“Is it bad?” Luffy’s expression showed clearly that he had no idea what exfoliation meant.
“His complexion is very fair so I’m beginning to understand why he has such a lot of clothes on even when it’s very sunny and hot outside,” Chopper continued. “However, I must say that I have no idea how he is going to react when his skin starts to cast off.”
The room was completely silent for a while. Luffy and Usopp looked quite horrified by what our doctor had just said. Obviously their skin had never exfoliated, not that they would have even noticed such a thing happening to them anyway. And it was highly unlikely that a person made of rubber would have had such problems to worry about in the first place.
“But I’m going to make some drinkable medicine for him and give him the sort of lotion that should help his skin to recover,” the little reindeer announced boldly.
“That sounds really good then,” Usopp smiled. “As long as he’ll be fine and able to cook us meals again, there shouldn’t be a reason to get too worried, right?”
His words made a lot of sense. Only someone like the cook could take care of us and nurture us and even scold us when things were almost getting out of hand, which happened a little bit too often with this kind of a crew. The cook was so much more than just a cook or just a man, he was probably the most important person in my life at the moment. Suddenly I felt like missing him even though it couldn’t have been more than an hour or two that I had carried him to the infirmary.
“Ummm... There’s one thing that I need help with, though,” Chopper said quite hesitantly.
“What is it?” The captain was as curious as always.
“You all know that I’m a reindeer and I have hooves... And even when I’m in my human form and have hands with fingers and all, I’m not sure if he would feel comfortable having such hairy hands spreading the lotion over his skin. Especially his back which seems to be so bad that he has to lie on his stomach for now,” the little reindeer explained looking down at his hooves dejectedly. “I don’t want to make him feel any more unpleasant than he already does.”
“Chopper, don’t worry about it. I don’t think he would think anything like that, seriously,” I said patting his little shoulder. “But now that you mentioned it, I think it’s my responsibility to take care of him since I didn’t do anything before it was too late.”
“Oi Zoro,” Usopp started. “Are you sure you can do it without hurting him even more? You guys always end up fighting and then Chopper has to tend to the both of you.”
“I already promised to our captain so it won’t be problem.”
Luffy smiled and nodded at me. “Make sure that Sanji will be healthy soon. And then we can all eat his delicious food again!”
I grinned widely back at him and I noticed that Chopper was smiling again as well. As far as I was concerned, I could live without the cook’s meals as long as I got to stay with him. And now I had the chance to have him all for myself for a while and I couldn’t have been happier.
