Disclaimer: I do not own any part of Black Butler/ Kuroshitsuji! I also do NOT profit in any way from this story! |
A/N: Okay so I just wanted it to be noted that for some reason I had a hard time concentrating on this chapter. RL ate up my time, hence it not being out when I'd hoped. So I do apologize for that. Anyways, I think another thing that had me distracted was the fact that I could not get the confounded LLAMA SONG OUTTA MY HEAD! It's a little tough to be descriptive when you keep hearing about how the "orange slayed the rake" about 6,000 times! @.@......This chapter has minimal editing >.< I should really find a beta-reader! Well either way I do hope it's enjoyable ^.^ As always, reviews are welcome and appreciated.
Necromantic: I'm glad you liked the beginning. I do actually have a full plot in mind for this, I believe more than a few chapters may ensue ^.^
Laday Laran: Poor Ciel indeed. Don't worry, more angst where that came from. I promise :3
Sebastian's PoV
Elated, Sebastian entered the kitchens with a song in his step. Maybe a simple black with.... No Chai with milk?....None of the options seemed suitable. He let his deep voice rumble as he hummed a busy tune. It was dramatic, laced with what - if played by a proper set of instruments - would have been booming with grandeur.
Far to giddy to concentrate on something so menial as tea the demon had to breathe, reel himself back in, as he set water to boil. A faint trace of humor graced his features. What a temper his young master had this evening! Delectable! The urge to continue this charade gnashed at his mind, though he knew that to provoke him further would be folly. At this thought Sebastian gathered his composure. He could not go foiling his own manipulations now could he?
Now it was all about the tea. He settled for a fiery concoction of his own brilliance that was likely to test... No! Titillate his master's taste buds. Somehow time bent, skewed, or shifted if you will. The tea steeped; luxurious tendrils of steam gave it the illusion it might spring to life any moment. And in what must have been perceived as no time at all Sebastian was standing again before his master, presenting the drink cautiously in case it should need rescuing....
'And what shall you do now?' He inwardly mused...
Ciel's PoV:
A tentative waft. He crinkled his nose. It was strong, and his senses insisted this tea was one he'd not yet rolled over his tongue for analysis. It piqued his interest and for the moment he parked his anger somewhere between his lack of energy and his love for tea. Snatching it from his servant, Ciel raised the ornate porcelain glass to his lips delicately. Sebastian pulled away from the table to stand faithfully a mere few footsteps away. Surprised by the initial heat, the flavors were hard to pin. Rooibos... Yes it was an African tea... Red with an odd kick. Another sip delved into indulgent spices... Cinnamon... Possibly a touch of nutmeg aaand cloves... With... Ground chili flakes?! Ciel took special care not to express his adoration for this new combination, instead he opted to nod his acceptance, place the tea in it's prim an proper place upon the table and turned back to his meal.
It was a mystery. How a beverage could lay waste to all his turmoil. Ciel knew his little pitch had been conquered and that the victory in this evening's battle of wills pointed to Sebastian. Despite the fact about ten years had past, he still behaved in a manor more suitable for his thirteen year old self.... It was almost as though his attitude, his personality was frozen though he continued to age. Slowly of course. Though he was technically twenty-three now, he appeared no more than seventeen or eighteen. When his temper flared, he still became childishly vindictive. For the time being it was clear he'd given up the stand off.
"Sebastian!" His bark was notably filled with expectation.
"Yes master?..." Trilled the tall tailcoat clad servant...
"What do you call this?...What is it's origin?" Gesturing gently to the tea then proceeding to lift his silverware, his reflection shimmering back at him, inverted. He tugged the plate he'd ignored all this time toward him....
"It is of my own artistic slight of hand, my lord. I call it, The Rooibos Dragon! Delivered and derived from Africa!" Putting on airs. Sebastian's evenings were never complete without regaling to his master his selections which of course meant he'd rambled on also about the meal, and how it had been prepared. Ciel nodded curtly at the end of Sebastian's animated speech filled with an excessive amount of vocal inflections...
"Ah..." His only unreadable reply. He'd been right. A rooibos tea... To his knowledge rooibos was difficult to obtain. Some difficulty with scarcity of the plant required to make it was raising the prices on it's trade costs.... He recalled the queen chattering at a royal dinner about how troublesome it must be for the lower classes. Suddenly relief washed over him that he could afford this lavish treat. A spoiled simpleton.
Finally his mood not so foul so as to keep his appetite suppressed, decidedly, stomaching the cutlet would be more than a welcomed endeavor .... Temper quelled, Ciel dined in sweet silence for some length of time. Now venturing off into thought once more. With a level head, Ciel shivered at the prospect of reexamining the abrupt, heart pounding encounter with his butler...
A sinking pit formed at the base of his stomach churning with his guilt, battling with his urge to relinquish control, to ride upon the dangerous line he'd created with his butler. Goose flesh caused his whole body to stand on edge. Not even his wildest fancies could hold a candle to the images racing through his mind. His body reacted to the thoughts in a most undesirable and unbefitting way. The dinner table was not the time nor place to allow his imagination such vivid adventures! His demonic soul hungered, begged for more... Remembering
This posed a problem however: As the master of a demon, his resolve could never waver, for if assumed to be weak, Sebastian may very well disregard the consequences of disobeying him. If not control, what did he have? if not consistency and the right frame of mind to keep the older demon in check, the benefits of betraying him may outweigh the current situation... How far would the demon really go to satiate his cravings?...
Cringing inwardly, Ciel chanced a glance in Sebastian's direction. Something about the dark smile painted on his butler's lips served as a reminder of his defeat... Ciel flushed, his lungs screamed for relief. Nothing more than a peek and once more he was spiraling headlong into chaos. He needed fresh air or he imagined he might shove every plate upon the table soaring. He felt as though he might become a tumultuous whirlwind waiting to shred everything in it's wake.
Ciel took it upon himself to sip again at the tea. Despite the spice it's calming effects were undeniable... The burn was satisfying, enjoying how the sting distracted his mind from his torment he finished rather quickly. A snap of his fingers summoning the raven haired man.
"I believe I shall retire to the gardens for now if I have nothing else scheduled for this hour...." It was both a statement and an inquiry.
"Young master, I'm afraid the queen has sent an request just this morning ... She has summoned you to the palace today. Shall I draw your bath?"
A twinge of dissatisfaction momentarily disrupted his smooth features.
"immediately..."
A/N: My knowledge of tea is rather minimal. And I added the chilli flakes simply for amusement. I mean Sebastian does tend to do things a little out of the ordinary we all know this. I mean curry bread... Case in point! ^.^ And I'm fairly certain I was jealous of Ciel in this chapter. Rooibos is one of my favorite teas... But I'm allergic to it. A few sips in my throat swells up! Sounds like oodles of fun no? Sadly the same happens with a lot of other teas as well... o.0...Can't promise when the next update will be, but I have my sights set on tomorrow evening! :3
