Breakfast was very awkward that morning. Sanji was so preoccupied not thinking about his dream, that he avoided looking at Zoro the entire meal. It only slightly bothered the swordsman, who ignored the Cook's sudden attitude and went to take a nap after breakfast.
Later that day, Sanji half danced across the grassy deck of the thousand Sunny, holding a tray with Tea and cake. "nami-Swaaaaaaaaaan, Robin-Chwaaaaaaaan~" The cook danced, serving them cake and coffee. "your afternoon snacks!"
"AH! SANJI!" Luffy protested, anger in his voice. "I want an afternoon snack too!"
"Afternoon snack!" Chopped joined Luffy, raising his little hooves to emphasize the need for sweets.
"yeah! Feed us cake Sanji!" Usopp demanded, only to have the chef turn to them angrily.
"You're portions are in the kitchen!" Sanji pointed to the door. "one each!" The trio ran towards the kitchen.
"one portion each?" Robin asked, looking at the two pieces of cake and tea on the tray. "Are you sure, cook-san?"
"Ah~ Robin -Chan~ If you want to eat more, just say the word!" Sanji swooned, only to be waved off by the older woman.
"No no, This is more than enough. Thank you." Robin said, amusement apparent in her voice.
"If you say so Robin-Chwaaan~" Sanji fluttered, grabbing the cake tray and looking up at the crow's-nest.
The blond swallowed hard, nervous at the sight of Zoro's shadow in the gym. With a grab onto the thick ropes, Sanji started his ascend, skillfully balancing the tray of cakes on his palm.
"6042…"
Sanji's heart felt like it was about to leap out of his throat. He could hear the grunting already, and he hadn't opened the door yet. reaching the crow's-nest, Sanji took a few deep breaths the relax. He stuck a hand into his pocket to seem aloof, kicking open the door.
"6057…" Zoro groaned as he extended his arm, pushing himself from the floor vertically, a large weight suspended between his feet. Sanji's eyes took a moment to absorb all the information. He had of course seen Zoro's extreme training before; but he had never truly appreciated the view.
"Oi. Marimo-head"
Stopping with his arm straightened, Zoro looked up at Sanji, sweat dripping from his high brow. "what do you want, Curly-brow?" The swordsman grunted, annoyed at the interruption.
"I brought you cake and tea." Sanji stated plainly, frowning down at his crewmate.
Zoro blinked in slight confusion. "huh? you did?" Zoro lowered himself down, grabbing the massive weight in the air, putting it down slowly. "You never do this." Zoro glared suspiciously at the cook.
"Then just eat it and shut your mouth, ungrateful idiot" Sanji watched the former bounty hunter grab a towel and wipe sweat of his skin, his eyes resting on the scar that divided Zoro's chest.
Zoro seemed to notice Sanji's lingering look, and crossed his arms across his broad chest "What? forgot where this scar came from or something?"
Sanji's head snapped up, his face instantly heating up. "Don'T be ridiculous! Stupid Marimo! How could anyone forget that?!" Sanji swung a kick towards Zoro's head, only to have it blocked by Zoro's arm.
"Oh yeah, You were there." Zoro said plainly, letting go of Sanji's ankle. "I forgot."
"Don't just forget about people!" Sanji yelled angrily, almost spilling the tea on the floor.
Zoro sat down on the floor of the gym, putting out his hand for his piece of cake. "Give it here."
Sanji's curled eyebrow twitched in anger. "Be a little grateful! I went through a lot of trouble to make this cake, Shitty-swordsman!" He handed the cake to the swordsman, growling in anger as he served him tea.
Zoro took a large bite of the cake, his expression did not even change for a moment as he ate the delicious treat.
Sanji sat down on the opposite end of the room, lighting himself a cigarette as he inhaled the scent of Zoro's warm body. The whole gym had the scent of blood, sweat and steel. The sound of the ocean and Zoro's chewing merged into the silence, and for a moment, the gym was silent.
Zoro finished his tea, holding out the cup in a silent "seconds please" gesture, as he stuffed the rest of the cake into his mouth. Sanji gave a smug smile before he refilled the cup, feeling a little more at ease than before.
"Well, back to working out." Zoro said, handing Sanji the cup and plate as he stood up. Sanji looked up at Zoro as he stood, his eyes falling on the thick black-green fabric of Zoro's pants, and consecutively, the large bulge at the front of them. Memories of last night's dream washed over Sanji, causing him to hurriedly gather the plate and cup and turn to the door.
"Oh yeah, before I forget." Zoro said and turned to Sanji. "I was walking past the showers this morning, and I could have sworn I heard you cursing me in the bathroom…"
Sanji's eye opened wide in horror. I said it out loud? Sanji's brain quickly scanned over the incident that morning, yes. he had indeed said "Stupid Marimo" as he came, and Zoro HEARD it?
"You're hearing things. You should let Chopper take a look at that." Sanji mocked, his voice cold as ice.
Zoro frowned back at the chef, the friendly air completely gone. "No, I was sure I heard it." Zoro's perceptive eyes settled on the back of Sanji's neck, suspicion thick in his voice.
"Your brain is also a muscle, maybe you should spend some time training THAT, Stupid Marimo." And with that, Sanji left the crow's-nest.
The cook spent the rest of the day avoiding the Swordsman, keeping himself busy with various dishes and desserts. As night fell, Sanji made sure that he was the last one to bed, hoping that he could have a completely arousal free night's sleep.
