Dragon Hunted

Chap 3 Recovery and Maker

With Magnus and Falala gone Laxus, Mira, and Gray returned inside.

Natsu had not recovered from the attack, Wendy healed his wounds but he still had not awoken. “I warned him, I told him we should run, but the fool didn’t listen.” Gray was sick of listening to the 2nd gen slayer, he punched him.

“Shut yer trap Natsu took that attack for you, it doesn’t matter that their Dragon Hunters, you’re a wizard start acting like one.” Gray scolded, and Wendy gasped in shock.

“Gray you shouldn’t attack guests.” Mira said and helped Cobra up.

“Listen I only became a wizard to attain my goal, to hear the voice of my Cuberos. I didn’t become a dragon slayer to be hunted.” Cobra growled out and Cuberos came over to him nudging him.

“I don’t really care why you became a wizard, but when of our guild mates is injured, and got that way by protecting you. Show some appreciation and respect.” Mira said and although her voice was friendly her aura spoke more than her words, she was pissed.

“You should rest, even with my magic you will need a few days of rest to fully recover your full strength.” Wendy said and Cobra sat down on his temporary bed Cuberos curled around him shielding him.

“It’s a good thing the master returns in a few days.” Mira said, and Gray clenched his fists. ‘We may not have a few days.’ Gray thought.

Gray ignored the poison slayer, and went over to check on Natsu. “Is he ok?”

“He’s breathing if that’s what you mean. His magical power has been disrupted badly he’ll need a lot of sleep to recover his strength.” Laxus said and brushed a stray pink lock from Natsu’s face.

“Laxus there’s something I need to ask you about.” Gray said in a whisper. “Can I talk to you in private?” Gray asked and they left to the backroom. Mira took this time to contact the other wizards of the attack. Gajeel, Elfman, Ezra, Lucy, Freed, Bickslow, Ever, and Juvia were the top of the list needing to be informed.

In the backroom

“What do you want to ask, Gray?” Laxus asked eyeing the ice mage.

“Your dragon lacrima, how did you get it?” Gray asked.

“Why do you ask? You’re not thinking of getting one in you?” Laxus asked staring at Gray like he had grown a second head.

“Yes I am, if these guys are really Dragon Hunters then there after dragon slayers. There after Natsu.” Gray said clenching his fists. “I couldn’t do a damn thing against them, if you and Mira weren’t here they would have…” The thought of them killing Natsu brought tears to Gray’s eyes.

Laxus understood, he doubted he could say it either. “Do you think being a dragon slayer would have made a difference, these guys are trained to hunt them?”

“I don’t care, becoming one gives me a better chance, it will give the power I need to protect Nats…I mean those precious to me.” Gray said his cheeks flushing in both determination and embarrassment.

“I don’t know if becoming a dragon slayer will be enough.” Laxus said, and thought for a moment.

“It’s a start isn’t, please tell me I need to know.”

“I’m sorry, but I really don’t know. It was my father who placed the lacrima inside me, I don’t know where he got it, and asking him is not possible.” Laxus said and Gray looked sullen.

“Damn it!” Gray cursed.

“You can try asking the old man when he returns, I’m sure he has heard some rumors.” Laxus said and led Gray back into the guild hall. Gajeel, Elfman and Ezra had arrived, Elfman was beside Natsu who was still resting. Gajeel and Ezra were talking, rather heatedly.

“Why the fuck shouldn’t I go after them. They want a dragon I’ll show them what a dragon’s fury looks like.” Gajeel growled.

“Gajeel you are a member of this guild, and I can understand your anger, but going after them without a plan, or knowing what you’re up against is foolish.” Ezra snapped back.

“You don’t know shit about me or how I feel!!” Gajeel growled back, he saw Natsu lying there hurt, and it made his blood boil, he didn’t know if him being at the guild would have made a difference, but he couldn’t shake the guilt that he should have been here for Natsu to help him.

“OI!!!” Cobra shouted breaking the argument. Everyone turned to look at him. Cobra pointed at Gray. “You ice mage, I heard your little conversation. I know where you can get dragon lacrima.” Cobra said shocking everyone in the room.

“You do?!” Gray shouted. “This better not be some kind of trick.”

“It’s not, Brain wanted to keep tabs on the dragon lacrima, just in case the 2nd gen slayers could prove more powerful than the first generation. There’s a man, I don’t know how but he makes the dragon lacrima and can put it inside you.” Cobra said.

Meanwhile

The dragon hunters have gathered for a new assignment. “Great work sending those fairy tail pests a message, now they should be more restrictive to make a move out of fear of losing their slayers lives.”

“What is our next mission?” Magnus asked.

“There is a man who is making the dragon lacrima, their by bringing the powers of dragons into the world.” The leader said.

“So what the more dragons he makes the more we get to kill.” One of the cloaked hunters said, and Chikorice hit him hard.

“You fool we aim for the extinction of the dragon power, we can’t have someone bringing the power to the world.” Chikorice roared and the cloaked figure shook in fear. “Dalma show yourself as worthy of being with us. You and Magnus go and kill this man.” The cloaked figure known as Dalma got up he removed his robe. Dalma had a heavy over coat with a high collar there were 5 voodoo dolls on the outside of his coat. He had long silver hair and he wore thick black shades so his eye color was undeterminable. “I will not fail!!”

The two hunters set off to kill the maker of dragon lacrima. With Fairy Tail one step behind.
