As evening falls upon the house, Jade begins putting her plan into action. She knocks everybody out and forces them into a deep and dreamless sleep, planting images in their minds of how things used to be. She begins flooding them with emotions of love and trust, dampening the hatred and rage. As she tires from the use of her power, Jade considers whether or not she’s doing the right thing, but she continues affecting everybody in the house, human and Pokémon alike with feelings of love and trust. As she goes into her Pokéball, she sighs to herself.
“There, that should keep them quiet for a while. I hope you like what I’ve done for you Master.” Jade whispers as the red light absorbs her into the ball. The house remains asleep and silent for the rest of the night, the changes sweeping through the minds of both Humans and Pokémon.
As day breaks, Saki and Alex wake from their sleep; sore, yet rested. The sisters eat breakfast together, eggs and toast with honey. They feed their Pokémon, Arkanon getting his usual Tauros n’ Flaaffy Pokéchow while Princess settles for her Meowth Mix: Magikarp Lover’s Skitty Chow. After the two companions eat with their trainers, they almost die of shock with what happens next.
“Alex, sis, do you think you could come with me to the Pokémart? I need to buy another case of Repel, and a box of Pokéballs.” Saki asks her sister, showing an almost sickeningly sweet voice that the icy girl has never used before. Alex looks up from her plate, normally the action is followed by a snarl, or a command for her loyal puppy to bite.
“Sure, Saki, I’ve been meaning to get a few Great Balls so I can go explore the deeper forests later. Do you want to come with me?” Alex replies, the sisters getting along almost better than when their parents were still alive. From within her ball, Jade can feel the shift in attitude of the girls and smiles.
The girls walk to the Pokémart, their companions at their heels wondering what’s happened to the girls. Even the Growlithe and Skitty’s normal hatred of each other is gone, the two wondering now why they didn’t see how perfectly matched to their trainer they are. As the girls shop for their supplies, Arkanon and Princess talk to each other, each never realizing before why they hated the other.
“Arkanon, how did you get that scar on your hind leg anyway? I’ve been wondering that for years, but never thought to ask.” Princess asks, her voice soft and cute like her breed’s standard. Arkanon turns to her, his tongue lolling out of his mouth and a smile on his face.
“When I was much younger than I am now, I lived deep in the forest with my parents. One day when we were hunting, this little Pachirisu got startled. For an eight pound ball of fluff, I was just a pup, so I tried to attack. The little squirrel zapped my leg and my flesh and fur were burned. When you’re wild, there are no Potions to heal your wounds, or Antidotes to cure poison, you won’t just faint if you get wounded, you’ll get sicker and eventually you’ll die. Normally Growlithe pups don’t leave their dens until they’re around two years old; I was only a few months when Alex found me. She caught me because I’d never seen a human before, but I was hurt and needed help.” Arkanon replies, his eyes lowering. Princess turns to him and puts her paw on his head, petting him gently.
“Saki bought me at a Pokémon Pet Shop, I was abandoned by an elderly lady when she found out she was dying. But I thought you were Alex’s starter. Aren’t they normally given at the lab? How did she catch you?” Princess asks, before Arkanon rolls onto his back. He smiles as his fur blows in the breeze.
“I’m not her actual starter. I’m the first Pokémon she caught, and the only Pokémon she keeps out of the ball all the time, but her starter was actually a Torchic. She was given to Alex by the lab when she began her journey, but when Flare evolved into a Blaziken, Alex released her so she could find a mate.” Arkanon replies, a fond look in his eyes when he recalls his capture and Flare being released. Princess looks up at him with a grin on her face.
“You know you love her. You wish you had been released to find a mate as well, don’t you?” She comments, earning a glare from Arkanon and a series of yipping. The Puppy Pokémon smirks at the thought.
“Actually, I wish I could be Alex’s mate. She’s almost an adult, and I’m still just a puppy. She needs a man, a human, not a stupid old dog.” Arkanon whimpers, his ears drooping. Princess looks at him surprised. He can smell something off about the cat, but doesn’t bother himself with it.
“Yes, humans are best paired with humans, but I’m surprised you didn’t realize that some Pokémon and their trainers do in fact mate, some even produce babies from it. There was a news story a while back about a new subspecies of Pokémon, hybrids. They look like their Pokémon form until they mate for the first time, and then they transform into a human-looking Pokémon that can use attacks, but speak both human and Pokémon language. After the show aired though, a group of humans ended up killing entire families. They were so against hybrids that they murdered anybody and everybody they thought was a Poképhile. Many Pokémon lost their lives too, many were innocent.” Princess comments, Arkanon looking at her questioningly. The Skitty just smiles at him, trying to hide the fact that she wants to cry. Arkanon puts his paw on her head and gently pets her, trying to comfort her. She rubs her face against his fluffy chest before falling asleep.
A/N: This chapter is kind of short, but I wanted to end it at this point since the next one starts the darker side of fluff here. I hope you like how I tie this into the series. -WWMH-
