A Pokemon Doctor

Ch3 The journey begins

Steve awoke to the feel of warm bodies cuddled all around him. Laying there he thought of all the things he needed for his journey. He had close to $20000 saved up to start out on and he fully intended to take advantage of that. Deciding it was time to get up by the delicious aroma that he could smell coming in from the kitchen Steve went about waking his pokemon. Deciding to wake Rose first he hugged her to him, kissing the top of her head, while softly saying her name. Rose coming too rubbed her face against his chest before looking him in the face. Steve told her that it was time to get up and that from the smell of it his mom was cooking them breakfast. After waking Rose Steve woke tepig by rubbing its back. Tepig having woken to the wonderful soothing feeling looked dreamily at her trainer. Steve seeing that she was awake told her the same thing he did Rose after which Steve was hit with an idea and promptly gave tepig the nickname of Amber which she showed her appreciation for by jumping up and down on the bed which woke oshawott from a pleasant dream making her cranky when combined with that she never liked mornings it should come as no surprise when she used water gun on Amber. Steve laughed as Amber glared at oshawott after being drenched. Deciding to use this to find a name for oshawott promptly named her Tempest for her tempered rain being a water pokemon. Tempest hearing her name just smiled liking the sound of it. Seeing that all of his pokemon were awake Steve told them to let him get dressed and then they would head to the kitchen for something to eat. Finished dressing Steve led his pokemon to the kitchen where they found his mother cooking eggs, bacon, and grits along with having put out some pokemon food for the pokemon.

"Good morning mom," said Steve.

"Good morning to you too son how did you and your pokemon sleep last night?"

"Great I let them sleep out of their pokeballs and on the bed with me. The best night of sleep I think I have ever had," answered Steve. As he ate Steve couldn't help but be excited today he would get the supplies he needed for his journey. Once through eating Steve returned his pokemon to their pokeballs and followed his mom to the car. On the trip to the store Steve mentally went over the things he would need for his trip. When they arrived at the store he got a tent, sleeping bag, camp stove, food, two sets of normal wear clothes, one cold weather set, and one swimming set along with food for the trip before making his way to the pokemon supply section of the store. Steve made sure to get some extra pokeballs in the dusk, ultra, and timer styles. Also he got ten super potions, five hyper potions, ten full heals, and a new fishing rod.

"That's all I can think of for now mom, if I need anything else I will get it on my trip," said Steve.

"Ok honey if your sure we can head home and relax the rest of the day and you can head out in the morning seeing as its almost dark outside," replied Steve's mom.

Steve hearing his mom looked out side to see she was right in that it had gotten quite late and realized how much time had passed.

"Ok that makes since let's head home then I cannot wait to get started on my journey."

"Wanting to be away from your old mother that bad huh?"

"No you know it's not that mom, it's I'm just excited to see new places and you know your not old mom; hell you look like your still in your late teens."

"Language Steve! But thank you for the complement now lets heed home some," replied Steve's mom.

Steve spent the rest of the day playing with his pokemon and relaxing with his mom before going to sleep that night dreaming of his journey.

Steve awoke the next morning to the feeling of Rose rubbing her face against his. Looking around he noticed that Ember and Tempest were also awake. Deciding it was best to get on the road early Steve got dressed and finished what last minute packing he had to do for his journey. Once finished Steve led his pokemon to the kitchen where they ate a wonderful breakfast cooked by his mom before deciding it was time to leave.

"Well I guess this is it. I will make sure to call from the pokemon centers when I can to let you know how my trip is going mom," said Steve.

"Ok honey, I love you and you stay safe on?"

"Sure mom and I love you too," Steve said as he was walking out the door.

"Bye honey"

"Bye mom," Steve hugged his mom and turned walked away. Arriving at the edge of town Steve saw the sign indicating the start of route one.

"Well this is it no turning back now Steve. Your legacy awaits," Steve said to himself trying to hype himself up.

It had been two hours since Steve made it to route one when he noticed a lillipup on the path.

'Hm this should afford one of my pokemon some experience,' thought Steve deciding to make the most out of the opportunity.

"Go Rose let's have some fun," said Steve releasing her from her ball.

Rose looked around after being released and noticed the lillipup. Figuring her trainer wished for her to battle the pokemon she braced herself for a fight.

"Rose use quick attack to get close to lillipup," ordered Steve.

Rose sprinted towards lillipup at amazing speeds jumping from one spot to the next. Rose hit lillipup in the side sending the pokemon skidding away. Lillipup responded by running at Rose using a take down attack.

"Dodge Rose and use attract," ordered Steve.

Rose jumped to the side and looked at lillipup with stars in her eyes. Lillipup just stood there and looked at Rose before charging at Rose this time using a tackle attack.

'Hm attract didn't work so that means it is a female pokemon, now what to do?" Thought Steve.

"Rose use leaf storm."

Rose was encompassed with leaves before sending them at her opponent. The attack hit lillipup head on causing a critical hit. Steve seeing lillipup was stunned through a pokeball. The ball blinked red three times before it signaled a capture.

"Good job Rose we caught a lillipup," said Steve proud to catch his first wild pokemon. Steve released lillipup from her ball and gave her a potion to heal her before returning her and lillipup to their balls after greeting lillipup and congratulating Rose on her battle once again.

Steve continued down route one the rest of the day stopping occasionally to battle a wild pokemon but not catching anymore because he felt he should space his captures out so the new pokemon could integrate properly into his group. When he noticed the sun getting low in the sky he decided to call it a day and found a nice place off the side of the road to camp. Steve went about setting up his camp and cooking himself a meal. Once his meal was ready he released his pokemon, allowing Tempest and Amber to meet lillipup for the first time. Steve gave lillipup the nickname Lils, to which Lils barked happily. After they finished eating Steve cleaned up while his pokemon took the opportunity to play with each other. Finishing cleaning Steve told his pokemon it was time for bed. Turning in for the night Steve told his pokemon that they should get to Accumula Town late the next day.
