When there was nothing but sand in all directions, Tsuki took a small drink from her water skin before reaching into the pouch that rested on her side and retrieved a sack filled with soil and another full of seeds. She poured some soil in one hand and carefully poured the minuscule seeds from their own pouch. When a generous layer of seeds coated the soil, Tsuki carefully put the two sacks back in her pouch.
Tsuki uncomfortably reached behind herself and readjusted her thong. “That damn succubus,” Tsuki cursed under her breath, “How the hell is any of this comfortable?” She reached over to her water skins and removed the cap of the one containing moon water which she had charged under a full moon to be used for the spell that would help her locate the scripture in the desert.
Holding her hand over the opening, she felt the resistance of the water. Tsuki moved her hand away from the skin, coaxing the enchanted water out of its container and gently guiding it over the mound of soil and seeds in her hand.
“In these small seeds does magic live, with sun and earth this water gives.”
The enchanted water began to give off a faint glow as it mixed with the seeds and dirt, her hand glowing as she infused a bit of her chi into the mixture.
“Vitality and strength to grow, it is done, I will it so!”
At the end of her incantation, the water completely encased the seeds and soil, vibrating in her hand as the elements mixed together. Once the light began to glow brighter, Tsuki threw the ball of light upwards into the air where at its peak, it hovered for just a moment before the seeds separated from each other, taking just the right amount of dirt and water with them as they blanketed across the sky before falling across the desert sand.
As the seeds fell to their respective locations, all three elements mixed together upon impact and before Tsuki displayed a carpet of greenery and various plant life. Tsuki looked over her work, pleased with the results. The spell she used resonates with other elements of plant life. Knowing that the core of the scripture was made of wood, the plant life would resonate with that part of the scripture. When the sun rose, the parts of her spell that were off the mark would die off while the section over the scripture would remain lively and vibrant.
As the sun’s rays began to stretch across the desert, the vegetation began to rustle. Tsuki bided her time and kept her hood up, shielding herself from the harsh and unforgiving sun as grassy areas began to wither and die. Tsuki’s eyes trailed over to a small miniature oasis that had formed.
“And there it is,” she said to herself as she walked through the field of dead and dried out grass. Pushing her way past some heavy vines and branches hanging from the trees that survived thanks to her spell, Tsuki made her way to the middle of the oasis.
She knelt down in the middle of the oasis where there was only one opening of sand, indicating the exact location of her target. Tsuki placed the flat of her hand down onto the rough surface, closing her eyes. She felt the scripture resonate to her presence. Visualizing how far down the scripture might be, Tsuki sent a tether of her energy attempting to find the exact depth.
After some time passed, with the sun beating down harshly on her, she felt her energies snap at the contact with the scripture. Feeling the heat, Tsuki looked up and flicked her free hand at the trees as they bent to her will, providing shade while she worked.
Not only was the scripture buried under at least 40 feet of tightly packed sand, but it felt like it was placed inside a container of some sort. Whatever it was, the hinges were slightly ajar. Placing her other hand down to the sand, all of Tsuki’s focus was on this one mission. Once the container was encased with her energy, she conjured a protective barrier around it while she worked on creating an opening in the sand wide enough to bring up the container.
Tsuki closed her eyes, focusing on the particles of sand and the weight of the surrounding area. When she felt she was well prepared, Tsuki sent down a charged beam of her energy, pushing against the sand and creating a clear, cylinder opening that reached all the way down to the box with the scripture. Pleased with her work and confident the sand wasn’t going to shift, Tsuki sent a tether of her energy down to retrieve the box, connecting with the barrier she created and pulled it up.
Tsuki smiled at the sight of the object as she brought it closer to her. Once it was above ground, she grasped the box and carefully opened the lid. There it was, one of the founding scriptures of Heaven and Earth. She analyzed the writing under the yellow ribbon wrapped several times around the scripture. The writing indicated she had found the Uten Scripture which governs over life and existence.
Tsuki set the container aside and opened her second water skin, taking a celebratory drink of water to quench her thirst. Capping the skin, Tsuki gripped the scripture tightly and stood up. When she turned around, she bumped straight into something firm, her spell for the cylinder opening dissolved causing the sand to sink drastically under her weight. Tsuki cried out, losing her balance as she fell backwards.
A strong arm reached out for her and wrapped around her lower back, grasping her firmly. Tsuki’s eyes trailed over the man who appeared to be as tall as Homura. He had short, spiky, black hair, his eyes were a taupe shade and had the markings of a demon across the bridge of his nose and between his eyebrows.
She blushed as the demon’s eyes looked over her outfit. The fabric in the front of her would-be skirt was tucked between her thighs, exposing both of her legs, a hint of boob peeking out from under her crop top.
“I’m surprised you didn’t notice me sooner,” he commented. His voice was low and had a lot of bass. A light blush appeared on Tsuki’s cheeks from both his voice and her compromising position. How the hell did she not sense his presence? Tsuki criticized herself, while she was solely focused on getting the scripture, she was completely oblivious to him. Tsuki scoffed at the demon, trying to collect herself as she pushed herself off the demon.
“Not even a ‘thank you’? That’s fine, I’ll be taking that scripture now,” the demon added as he held a hand out to Tsuki. She backed away and swatted his hand. “Feisty,” he commented as Tsuki grabbed the edges of her cloak together, the blush deepening on her cheeks. Why the hell did she not just change her damn outfit? “But that’s not going to stop me from taking that scroll,” he said firmly before lunging at the scripture in Tsuki’s hand.
Tsuki lurched back, bringing her other hand over and blocked him from grabbing at her wrist. He gripped her shoulder, shoving her back and squaring up before hitting the flat of his hand against her in the chest, causing her to stumble backward and losing the scripture.
The vegetation reacted around her, cushioning and supporting her fall. When she recovered, the demon already had the scripture in his hand. “Shit! I can’t let him leave with the scroll!” Tsuki crouched low to the ground, vines growing down towards her from the oasis. She wrapped her hands around each of the vines as they became taut, gripping them tightly as she jumped, launching herself into the air.
Letting go of the vines, Tsuki flew high, her eyes still on the demon as he stood with his mouth slightly agape. That face angered Tsuki knowing that he was getting a full view of her sheer red colored thong, with gold trim to match the rest of the damn outfit.
Tsuki let out a cry in anger as she began to fall towards him, pulling her fist back, she positioned herself so that she’d land on his shoulders. The demon readied himself, but slower than anticipated as she landed on him, the fabric of her skirt covered over his face as Tsuki delivered the first punch to his skull. The demon cried out as he fell backward onto the grassy terrain, Tsuki held onto him as he fell, landing on top of him.
The demon muffled against Tsuki’s lightly covered flesh, causing her face to turn red as the demon gripped one hand on her butt, giving it a light squeeze. “Ooh, firm,” he muffled against her. Tsuki gritted her teeth, embarrassment setting in as she tightened her grip on his head. She shouted before delivering several additional blows to his skull.
The demon cried out and punched Tsuki in her side, the force throwing her off him as she somersaulted back to her feet. She panted, holding her side as she turned back to the demon who was stunned from her assault. The demon picked himself up and scoffed, spitting blood.
“I like my women with a little fight in them.” He taunted before lunging at her again, the two exchanged many blows before Tsuki ripped the scroll from his hand and launched it towards the canopy of branches above, a single vine wrapping itself around the scripture.
The two seemed like they were dancing more than fighting as they exchanged blows in such tight quarters. Was he taking any of this seriously? The demon suddenly held out his hand, the silhouette of a curved blade materializing in his hand. Tsuki’s eyes widened, preparing to reach for a short knife she had sheathed on her boot. Instead, the demon reached above the both of them and jumped high enough to cut the scripture free, catching it in mid-air.
Agitated, Tsuki quickly generated a concentrated ball of qi in her hand and launched it hard into the middle of the demon’s chest. The force of the blast sent him backwards and through the other side of the oasis. Tsuki followed him, determined to get the scripture back.
Bursting through the vegetation, before her in the desert stood a whole line of demons he must’ve brought with him. Tsuki, again, criticized herself for having no clue what was transpiring around her. She surveyed the area, guessing he must have brought at least 50 demons with him.
“You’re outnumbered, Lián.”
Lián. That was the name Tsuki gave herself when she escaped to the Lower World all those centuries ago. It meant Lotus Flower, one of the flowers she favored the most. Tsuki straightened herself, glaring up at him. “How do you know that name,” she demanded. With the exception of a small group of people in her circle, no one on earth knew of her alias.
“While you maintained your solitude, there was no mistaking the stories that traveled. Your fighting skills are well-known within the demon community. Some time ago, I even had the honor of watching you fight from afar.”
Tsuki looked at him, confused by the comment. She had come across many demons in her time in the Lower World while struggling to survive and improve her skills, but she didn’t recall seeing him in the least. “I’ve never seen you before. I wouldn’t forget markings on a face like yours,” she spat. The demon smiled.
“My name is Dokugakuji, and you wouldn’t remember my face because I’ve never confronted you.”
“So that’s it,” Tsuki thought.
“Any demon that kicks up dust is bound to have stories spread and generate interest from various clans. Yours caught my attention and I had to see you in action myself.” Tsuki gritted her teeth. This Dokugakuji was really starting to push her buttons. “At one point,” he continued, “I sent a small group of demons to ambush you just so I could see you fight. To see if you were as skilled as they say.”
Tsuki balled her hands into fists. She couldn’t understand why, out of all her encounters with demons, he seemed to make her lose her calm demeanor. Then again, she usually didn’t talk this much with an opponent during a fight.
“I was impressed with you that day,” he complimented, “You wielded an energy whip, one that harnesses your qi and turns it into a weapon. Not many demons have such weapons in their possession.”
Tsuki slowly moved her hand to the pouch on her side and slipped it under the flap, gladly prepared to introduce the mentioned weapon to his flesh. Dokugakuji noticed her small movements and snickered, the corner of his lips curling into a smile.
“Is it the heat, Lián,” Dokugakuji asked, “Your face is as red as your, ahem, matching — outfit.”
Letting out a cry, Tsuki pulled a handle out of her bag. Her hand buzzed with her energy as it manifested into a long whip that extended almost the full distance between her and Dokugakuji. She quickly bent down, dropping her water skins before unsheathing the short blade from her boot.
Dokugakuji watched in amusement before turning on his heel. Tsuki sneered at that cocky attitude of his and rushed towards him. The group of demons cried out as they ran towards Tsuki in a mass attack. She ran the length of her whip as far across the demons as she could, injuring multiple in the process and cutting others so deep they dissolved, their screams filling the air. Tsuki flicked her wrist, changing the hold on her knife with the blade upside down, leading with the talon of the blade as she slashed at any demon that got within arms reach.
Through the small sea of demons, Tsuki became increasingly frustrated as Dokugakuji got further away from her over to a small herd of dragons. Once he got on one of those dragons, it was all over. Tsuki couldn’t allow him to leave.
Tsuki’s eyes gave off a silver glow before being enveloped in a radiant light. Holding the whip high above her head, she began to rapidly spin in place. The cries of the demons echoed in a sort of domino effect as her whip lashed out in a wide radius, slaying the remaining few. When she slowed her movements, she flew across the sand towards Dokugakuji.
As he neared his dragon, Tsuki drew her whip back before sharply snapping it forward. The length of her whip extended and cracked hard against Dokugakuji’s forearm. He let out a cry in frustration, dropping the scripture and watched it tumble down a small sand dune towards her.
He shot a piercing look at Tsuki, holding the spot where the whip connected before seeing that she was encased in a radiant light. For now, he was just going to have to cut his losses. Dokugakuji quickly threw a leg over the saddle of his dragon and sharply pulled the reins as the dragon took off into the sky.
Tsuki stopped in front of the scripture, the light surrounding her faded as she watched Dokugakuji flee. Satisfied that he didn’t have the scripture, she sheathed her blade and dissipated the energy from her whip, placing the handle back into her pouch. She grabbed the scripture and placed it in her bag before gathering up her two water skins and shooing the remaining dragons, their masters having been turned to dust. Flipping up her hood, Tsuki took a long drink from the water skin designated for herself and made her way back home.
