How The Hell Did THIS Happen?
Sorry, gang, too tired to do anything other than post. Next time, I promise. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing. I really do appreciate it.
***********
Crusnik 02 shot straight for the sky, failing to notice the sonic barrier until it was too late. He was thrown backward with no small amount of force. After regaining his bearings he snarled at the assembled group below him, watching intently for any move that might have been even slightly threatening.
“Oh, Abel,” Seth said worriedly, looking up at the creature who was usually her sweet, kind of goofy brother.
//No one make any sudden moves// came Blaze’s voice into everyone’s head.
Most of the parties from the Vatican and the Empire were too much in a state of shock to do anything more than stare in disbelief.
//Can anyone distract him? I’ll need to transform somehow without him noticing.// Seth said.
//I’m not so certain that would be wise, Seth. He might see even you as a threat considering the state he’s in.// Skye said. //I may have a temporary solution. If you will allow me, Goddess?//
//Knock yourself out.//
Skye smiled a little and Crusnik 02 suddenly discovered he was unable to move anything but his face and his hair. Which he was *not* at all happy about. He was roaring, his hair whipping around him with the force of a cat ‘o nine wielded by an expert. Sparks of electricity seemed to bounce off of him but were instantly contained and any damage they might have caused dissipated into something that merely raised the hair on everyone present.
//Love that trick, sis.//
//Star, get them out of here.// Blaze said.
She nodded and started mentally herding the members of the Vatican and Empire except for Tres and Seth out of the clearing.
//I really don’t think they need to remember this either.//
//Duh, Gran!//
When everyone had been cleared out the whole of the remaining group turned to look at Seth.
“How do we calm him enough to get him to stand down?” Gun asked, staring at Abel in a mix of awe and mild terror that they might have to injure him again.
“I have no idea,” Seth said honestly. “I don’t think any of us have ever been pushed into 100% involuntarily.”
“If anyone has ideas, we need to hear them,” Blaze said. “Skye, can you maneuver him down to ground level?”
“Yes. But I can’t keep him grounded indefinitely.”
“I know that, Skye. But we can’t leave him dangling up there like a damn piñata while we figure out what to do.”
Cain smiled maliciously at his subordinates’ shocked expressions.
Isaak found his voice first. “Mein Herr, with all due respect, I hardly think that is necessary.”
“You think not?” Cain asked. “And whom, might I ask gave you the authority to override my decisions? I don’t believe that I gave you that power. Since I didn’t, you will do as you are instructed. I can perfectly well do without both of you. Regardless of what you might think you can be replaced.”
“We are aware of that, Mein Herr. But I fail to see a reason for . . .”
“For something so lurid to be dragged out into the general population of the Coven? Is that your logic or your potential embarrassment talking, Isaak? But if you really want a reason, then consider it a test of loyalties. If you can endure something of this nature for me, then I should have no trouble trusting you. Both of you. Now, you can either do this or die now. The choice is entirely up to you. Will you do as I *requested* or . . . will you not?”
“O . . . of course,” Dietrich nearly squeaked. He glanced at Isaak with something akin to terror in his eyes.
The perfect mask Isaak wore was in place but Cain could tell that it had cracked a little. “If that is what you require, Mein Herr, it will be done.”
