Chapter 31
What is this Life?
Chapter 31
Hiro and Shuichi race to Ryuichi's side and throw their arms around him. Ryuichi lifts his hands to caress the arms that are wrapped around his body. The love exuding from each of them warms the ache in Ryuichi’s heart and he is able to calm down. Finally, Ryuichi’s tears stop and he wants to get off the floor. He rolls his shoulders and the others release their hold.
As they all stand up Ryuichi looks at both and sees tear-stained faces peering back at him. He isn’t quite sure if it’s fear or relief that has caused the tears. He loves these men so much and the thought of ever being parted from them tears at his very core. Still, he can’t force them to stay with him if they really want to leave. With a sigh he finally speaks, “Guys, it’s over. He’s out of our lives. You’re free to go.”
Shuichi smiles at Ryuichi and leans in and kisses him. He’s definitely relieved and it’s time to let Ryuichi knows exactly where their future lies. He pulls out of the kiss and looks to Hiro and they both nod. They have known for some time what they would do if this day ever came. Shuichi looks into Ryuichi’s uncertain eyes and says, “Good. I suggest that you get well because we all need to get back home and start packing.” He scans Ryuichi’s face to see if he understands what this mean.
Ryuichi still isn’t quite certain if this means what he hopes it does. “Back home? Does this mean….”
Shuichi grins from ear to ear and asks, “When does the house-hunting start?” And with a little mischievousness adds, “I get first dibs on which room is mine!”
