Chapter 34
To say that Aizawa was more annoyed after hanging up with President Mic than before said friend called would be an understatement. He could hear a small part of himself whispering that this was just a wasted trip. If he really wanted you out of the breeding agreement all he had to do was storm into your room later and ensure you didn’t leave the bed. In theory, he wouldn’t need to speak to anyone for that.
Except maybe you. Judging from what had been built he was sure that wouldn’t be a problem. That wouldn’t stop the commission from apparently hounding you though…which was exactly why he had requested an immediate meeting. As a pro-hero that had been involved in a lot of the recent events he had a little more clout than the average hero. Which he was planning on using up right now if he had to.
“Eraserhead?”
Aizawa stood up from the wooden chairs so stiff that he almost knocked it over. The room he was led into was large. It was designed in a way that the person requesting an audience, in this case him, felt smaller than those behind the high desks. Everything about the room was built to scream control and power. Not that it intimidated him - he’d faced down worse scum than sat behind the desk.
“Eraserhead,” the commission representative in charge of the breeding program greeted him with a respectful nod.
Aizawa bowed quickly. His hair fanned out to both sides of his face before he righted himself.
“I see that you’ve requested to speak to me about one of our candidates in the Hero Reproduction Initiative.”
“Yes.”
“Please state your intentions.”
Aizawa stated your name shortly, waiting to see the look of recognition on the person’s face before continuing. “Remove her from the program. She agreed under duress.”
“Did someone threaten her or someone she knows with harm if she did not join?”
“No.”
“Was she or anyone she knows professionally or financially threatened if she refused to participate?”
“No.”
“Then I fail to see how she was under duress.”
“She recently returned from the incident on Nebu island,” The dark clad teacher started. “She was brought into the situation by another pro-hero. There she learned that there are villains out there capable of taking quirks from people. She signed up with the program because she believes it’s imperative for her to pass on her quirk to the next hero generation.”
“Surely you of all people would not deny the benefits of having a hero with her capabilities.”
Aizawa gritted his teeth. He hated dealing with people like this. People that used words to play with others' lives. They were almost as bad as the media. Just a few steps down from being villains.
“Remove her.”
“As much as I would like to assist you with the request, I’m afraid my hands are tied. You are not her legal guardian. Nor is she a minor or under any actual duress. As far as this government is aware she signed up on her own volition and will be aptly compensated for her time and troubles. If that’s all?”
“No,” Aizawa said after a moment of silence. “If you will not remove her from the program, place me as the sperm donor.”
The suited figure leaned forward. Her expression was full of surprise.
“You want to enlist as a donor?”
“As her donor,” Aizawa nodded. “It’s the next logical move. If the villain situation grows worse, they may target the resulting children in a grab for power. If you can not remove her from this program then the next logical step would be to ensure their safety. Assigning me to protect my own child would only benefit the commission.”
The woman sat back in her chair as she stared down at him. Aizawa resisted the urge to glare and demand they comply.
“I can not argue against the idea that I would be interested to see the type of quirk you and she would produce together. Your power alone has come in handy often. However…”
He didn’t like the sound of that last word.
“The woman in question has already been assigned a doner. She has started the treatments in preparation for the fertilization. With that said, there are plenty of other female candidates for you to review.“
He wasn’t even remotely interested. Unfortunately it didn’t seem like they wanted to let him leave anytime soon. So without pissing off a powerful section in their society, Aizawa was forced to listen to the whole pitch.
Twice actually.
The moment he said no the first time they tried a new angle. He didn’t. The word ‘No’ seemed to work just fine.
By the time he got out of the office, he had a hard time keeping his eyes open long enough to find a hotel to crash in for the night.

“You missed yesterday’s treatment.”
The doctor who had just finished poking a needle into you did not look pleased by that fact. You frowned as you healed the penetration mark. It had hurt a lot more than normal as the needle went into a less fleshy part by your hip. And you could practically feel the medicine as it seeped into you. You hoped that was just your imagination but you didn’t want to bring it up as you didn’t want to find out you were right. Better to not know if it was imagined or not.
“I was on a date,” you said blandly.
The doctor turned around with a frown. You could hear the disapproval in their turn. Which made you frown as well.
“As you’re aware, the program you’ve enrolled in is voluntary—“
“I know,” you said quietly.
“If you want to withdraw, please notify the committee immediately. It would be best for you to withdraw right now if you’re having any doubts,” the doctor continued with a look of sympathy on their face. “Once we have administered the doses and you’ve menstruated, your ovum will be harvested for fertilization. If you wish to withdraw at that stage, you will have already signed away your parental rights.”
“I know. But I keep my maternal rights if I carry my child to term. One on the commission board will stand in as loco parentis for the fathering hero. They assume the financial obligations for the child’s health, education, and quirk development while I provide a structured and safe home framework until they are of sufficient age,” you summarized in a bland tone despite the fact that your stomach was doing flip flops. Not the excited kind either. “Trust me. I know the choice I’ve made.”
“If you’re doing this for financial support, and feel you can’t withdraw because of that—“
“You know…money is like the one thing I haven’t worried about in all of this,” you said as you exhaled. “I’m not rich or anything but I’m luckier that way than some I suppose.”
You couldn’t imagine stressing out over bills on top of everything else. The thought that some woman and men signed up just because they needed the money suddenly flashed through your mind. It brought about terrifying ideas. For the women who carried the kids to term for the money…did they regret it? Did the child get taken from them? Did the mothers continue to care for the kid just for the paycheck?
God you hoped not.
The world already sucked. Not feeling loved by at least one parent would have made the world a cold, dark place. Knowing that you were only born for the money would be a fucked up realization too. You could see how that might turn potential heroes into villains real quick. Had the Committee even considered that?
“I know you're trying to help but…”
Now you were worried. Just not over your own situation. It might take some adjustment to be a mom but…if your mom could juggle hero work with all the fond memories you had of her, you could pull it off. Plus you had a leg up not having to worry about medical bills for yourself or the kid. And you knew that the kid getting good, healthy genes was almost guaranteed in this situation. Not to mention they’d get into good schools as well as educational support if that was needed.
The only thing they wouldn’t get was a father.
While you knew you’d feel bad about that, you knew that a lot of kids out there were raised just fine by one parent. Even though it would come about through odd means you believed you’d love the thing. It’d still be yours after all. You’d be the primary caregiver even if you had avenues of extra support. You’d love the kid, of that you were sure.
“I’m doing this for me. Me and my family. And society,” you said after a minute. “I didn’t have the drive to follow my mother into the life of a hero. But my child could carry on my quirk and do better with it than I have. Or get a combo…or just their donor’s…but I’m hoping they get mine or a combo. The world needs strong healers right?”
The doctor was making you nervous. You really didn’t want to be in the room anymore but you held yourself still. You needed to do this to assure the Commission and yourself that you were committed.
“You’re still really young to worry about passing on your quirk.”
Was the doctor trying to talk you out of your choice or something? Kind of felt like they were.
“Right now I’m financially stable enough and I’ll be young and healthy enough to keep up with a hero in training while they’re young. If I wait, that could change. I want to do this now.”
They nodded. As they pushed their glasses back up their wide nose, the doctor turned around to grab at a bottle of pills. There was no label on the bottle when you were handed them, causing you to look up in surprise.
“They are not mass produced. In fact, these pills are created using someone’s quirk to increase fertility and the health of the uterine lining. Please take one every morning. After menstruation, continue to take your doses. Just contact the commission so we can schedule the ovum removal.”
“Okay but like…side effects? Anything I should watch out for? What?”
There was a shift as the doctor looked at you. They went from concerned to very professional in the blink of an eye. Either they were trying to hide something or they were uncomfortable with something about that situation.
“You may experience hot flashes or an increased body temperature while under the effects,” the doctor explained.
Having a slightly higher temperature during the winter didn’t seem like such a bad idea honestly. At least you might not get as cold if Hawks continued to insist on flying with you everywhere.
“You may also experience an increased libido and rapid onset arousal as well as localized sensitivity.”
Ah. Based on how straight favored they’d said that, you were going to assume that was what the shift in tone was about.
“So panty liners and full cup bras at all times,” you tried to joke to lighten up the mood as you looked at the pill bottle.
Despite yourself you had started to blush. No wonder they went into robot doctor mode. As a human being this conversation was embarrassing
“Yes. Right. Well…Self induced orgasms are encouraged. Assisted orgasms that include penile penetration of the vagina should be handled with care to avoid accidental impregnation. Keep in mind that due to the effects of the drugs, you may still have one or two ovulations with no menstruation after the fertilized ovum has a secure attachment.”
“So no sex,” you restated as you shifted slightly.
Unless life decided to throw you a curveball that was a pretty easy order. Then again…there was the Hawks of it all. He seemed playfully ready to change that particular status quo after the first date yesterday. Though from what you could see he wasn’t all that upset about you denying him sex for a while either. Then again his feelings could change after months of no progression of that fashion. Though the eventual baby bump was likely to put him off the notion of being your boyfriend all together.
“If you do find that such an event occurs, please contact the Commission so a primary or secondary pregnancy examination may be conducted.”
“Will do. So basically…take a pill every morning, continue being the nun that I am, and get ready for the god known as science to fashion a baby with me. Did I miss anything?”
The doctor shook their head no but you could see a concerned frown start to crack the doctor robot mode.
“What?”
“You mentioned missing the starting dose because you were on a date. Your boyfriend?”
You nodded. “Yeah…boyfriend.”
That was a weird thought. Technically neither you or he had used that word yet but it seemed the most practical at the movement.
“He’s okay with you doing this? It’s not going to cause problems in your relationship?”
You shrugged. “First date was yesterday. I honestly hadn’t…I mean it’s new. This is more important than a few casual dates. It's nothing serious. I don’t think there will be any issues.”
The fuss Recovery Girl would probably throw was a far greater concern.
