Part Four: Logic

Hakkai turned his head and caught Tasha�s gaze, �What�s her story?�

Tasha raised an eyebrow, �Who? Thea?�

Hakkai nodded, �Yeah.� Hakkai didn�t hurt as much as he figured he would. He had a dull headache probably an after effect of low oxygen. The wound on his chest was down to a dull ache, the entrance wound on his back was still tender. He brought a hand to his face and felt the small bandages. He knew he was slammed face first into something, but it happened so fast that he didn�t rememwhatwhat.

�She�s a child of the universe.� Tasha watched as he touched his face. She saw him wince. �Are you in pain? Do you need something?�

Hakkai dropped his hand and clasped hers, �I�m fine.� He managed a smile. �We�re all children of the universe. Where did you find her? There�s something different about her.�

Tasha dropped her eyes. She shouldn�t be talking about this. They agreed to keep some information secure. Maybe she could dodge this question. �Yes, there is something different about her.�

Hakkai studied her face. He could tell there was something she was hiding. �What is it?�

Tasha looked over at him. �What is what?�

�What�s different about her?�

Tasha let our a gentle huff,� What�s not different about her?� Answer a question with a question, the easiest way to prevent giving out information. She looked into his warm green eyes and knew there was no way she could lie to him.

�If you don�t want to tell me, that�s ok.�

She shook her head slightly, �It�s not a matter of want.� She looked into his deep green eyes, she bathed in their warmth and kindness. She got lost in his emerald gaze and her words bypassed her brain, �It�s just that I promised Jorja not to tell anyone about her dau---� She snapped back into her senses when she saw Hakkai�s eyes widen. She slapped a hand over her mouth.

�So�.she was born here. She�s Jorja�s daughter.� Hakkai blinked as the reality of the situation sunk into him. He looked up at the ceiling as if it would fill in the blanks in his chain of thought. He thought about Thea�s eyes, one gold one violet. Off hand he could think of two men that had violet eyes-- although there could be more. Kougaiji and Sanzo. His brow wrinkled in thought. He remembered Jorja mentioning she was an old friend of Kougaiji. �Thea�s about four, right?� He tilted his head and looked over at Tasha.

Tasha had her face buried in her hands. That depends on what you are counting and how you are counting it. She spoke through her fingers, �I can�t answer that.�

Hakkai looked back up at the ceiling. She looked four; she kind of behaved like four. Her skills were much more mature. Kougaiji�s child would have to be advanced. If Homura�s bloodline were to merge with Gyumaoh�s�.. The rest of his thought scared him too much to continue it. No,ave ave to be mistaken. This can�t be right. Just because she has a violet eye doesn�t mean that she�d Kougaiji�s daughter.

He tilted his head toward Tasha. Her already pale complexion seemed to have lightened. �Who�s Thea�s father?�

Tasha closed her pink eyes. �Hakkai please�..I can�t answer that.�

He blinked at heroes oes he even know?�

Tasha�s face cinched up, �I can�t answer that.�

Hakkai looked up at the ceiling. Then again, Goku doesn�t look nor behave anything like 500. So, Thea might be a lot older than four. He thought about the genetic altering Jorja under went that made her a G.E.L.F. She must have been powerful when she was born, but then to be enhanced on such a fundamental level�.those enhancements would be passed down tr chr children. He thought about how fast Jorja�s healed. Given: that on the most basic level the immune system is basically the destruction and repair of cells. Given: that on the most basic level growth and development is basically the destruction and repair of cells. Therefore: Thea might very well be a lot younger than four. He knew that conclusion was a stretch. Carrying the logic lines were beginning to make his head hurt. He knew he was factoring with too few facts. Any conclusions would be nothing more than speculation.

Tasha saw his mind working under those emerald eyes. Damn, now I�ve done it.

Hakkai slowly closed his eyes and relaxed into pillow. Of course this doesn�t factor any other possibilities. It is possible for Jorja and the father to carry the trait for violet eyes but not express it. That means it could be�..His eyes flew open and he felt the sweat bead on his brow. Any of uof us. Oh dear god, what if it is Goku?

Tasha saw the consternation in his face. �Hakkai, please, let it drop.�

He tilted his head back toward her. �Why all the secrecy?�

Tasha sighed, a question she could answer. �For her own protection.�

�Homura. Is Homura after her?�

Tasha nodded slowly, �Yes.�

Hakkai blinked as the pain in his head increased. He winced.

Tasha lightly brushed a hand over his cheek and softly whispered, �Rest now�.think later.�

Hakkai resettled into the pillow and softy murmured, �Yes.�

Tasha watched as he dozed off to sleep.
