Sunlight poured into the room as Tohru and Kyou enter.
'How sweet,' Tohru thought.
'How freaky is that girl,' Kyou asked in thought as Tohru stepped over by the wall where Ha'ri slept, Nami still sleeping in his lap.
Tohru gave Ha'ri a small nudge and whispered, "Hatori, it's time to wake up. It is morning areakreakfast is ready, if you're hungry, that is," she smiled as he looked at her.
"Thank you, Tohru. I'll wake Nami," he said, stretching slightly.
Tohru was smiling when Kyou came over and took her by the arm. "Come on and let's go. I'm sure Hatori would like to wake her in peace," he said, a little embarrassed at Tohru's actions.
Soon both Tohru and Kyou were out of the room. Ha'ri looked down at Nami and smiled. He took his hand mov moved some stray strands of hair from her face. Slightly touching her forehead as he moved the hair, his face grew in concern.
'She feels a little warm,' he thought as he reached for his thermometer that was in his doctor bag.
He placed the thermometer under her tongue and checked it after the allotted time. His face fell.
He gently moved her from his lap and laid her down on the floor and walked of tof the room to get Haru. The two walked in the room and Nami was still sleeping.
"She sleeps well, Ha'ri. In fact, I was wondering why you weren't up earlier when Aya was being rackety."
"I've learned to drown out his theatrics," he joked. "Something is wrong with her, but we can't leave until she tells everyone."
"Do you want me to bring everyone in here so that she can tell them?"
"I'm not sure. I have to wake her and she has to get dressed," Ha'ri stated as if he was in confusion.
The two were too busy talking to notice that Nami has opened her eyes and was listening to them.
"Ha'ri, all I need is help getting up, I can do the rest by myself," she smiled.
Stooping, Ha'ri gently picked her up and waited as she steadied herself. She smiled at Haru.
"Daily ritual," she joked.
Haru just nodded and smiled at her. 'No one has been able to make Ha'ri smile since Kana. I wonder if this is the one to save us,' he thought as he looked at her and Ha'ri.
"Okay, I think I can get dressed without help. I will see you out in the sitting room," she said as she looked at Haru and Ha'ri.
The two guys left and Nami dressed herself, looking at the bandaging over her side. Soon, there was a knock on the door. She quickly pulled her shirt over her head and pulled it down to her waist.
"Come in," she announced as Tohru and Kagura walked inside.
She smiled as the two girls entered the room and released a sigh of relief.
"I thought it was one of the guys," she smiled.
"Oh," Tohru said as she looked at the bed and then at the floor. "Was the bed not to your liking," she asked.
"Oh, it's not the bed. I had to have someone near me so I can sleep. So, I guess you could say I asked Ha'ri if I could sleep on the floor with him. The poor man. He stayed up almost all night. He barely got any sleep," she said looking away for a moment.
"Yes, he is very selfless. I just wish that Akito would have allowed him and Kana to marry," Kagura said.
Nami looked at Kagura without any emotion. "There's a reason that he didn't allow them to marry, Kagura. And, I'm glad that they are not married."
Tohru looked at the two girls. Obviously the fight from yesterday was not over nor would it be over any time soon.
"Hey, I got an idea. How about we walk around the property today? I think we coull ull use some fresh air," Tohru volunteered.
Nami looked to the happily smiling girl. "I must decline. I have some business here and then when that is over, I will have to leave. There are preparations I must make," she said a little morbidly.
"Oh. Alright," Tohru said. "Well, how about some breakfast first? You must be starving since you missed dinner last night," she offered.
"Sounds good, I think I'll be there as soon as I can get this shirt to work correctly," she said trying to put her arm through the hole.
Both Tohru and Kagura helped her put it on and she smiled. "Okay, I'm ready," she winked.
Tohru opened the door, Kagura held it open, Nami walked out first, Tohru and Kagura exited the room after Nami. They walked to the sitting room and were greeted with smiles from everyone.
Ha'ri, Aya and Shigure all stood when they entered the room and had to smack everyone else to use the proper male etiquette. After that, Haru, Yuki, Kyou and Momiji all stood up in the presence of the three ladies. Nami, Tohru and Kagura all sat at the table and the guys sat down.
"You are looking better today, Nami," Shigure said as Ha'ri hit him.
Aya laughed until Ha'ri hit him as well. Both looked at Ha'ri in surprise.
"What was that for!?" they screamed at him.
"For being you," he answered simply. "Nami, are you feeling any better today? Are you up to discussing the matter," Ha'ri asked.
Nami nodded. "But can it wait? I am hungry and this food looks delicious," she smiled at him.
Ha'ri couldn't help but smile back at her. He watched her as she took some rice and various other foods and began to eat with the others.
'Could I do it? Could I do what Akito has chosen her for,' he questioned as he stared at her.
Aya and Shigure caught him as he looked at Nami. They both hit Ha'ri in the shoulders.
"Ha'ri, taking in the scenery," they asked teasingly.
Ha'ri glared at them. "You never stop do you, Shigure?" he asked as he dropped his gaze from Nami to the floor.
"Hey, it was Ayame as well, Ha'ri," Shigure stated defensively.
Hatori rose and looked at everyone. "I have to get something from the room. I'll be back in a few minut he he said as he left the room.
Not too long after he had left, Nami put down her chopsticks and sighed.
"That was delicious, Tohru. Thank you," she said politely.
Tohru became flustered. "Oh, you're welcome. But it wasn't just me, Nami. Kyou helped and Kagura did as well. You should thank them as well," she confessed.
Nami turned to Kyou and Kagura and bowed slightly. "I thank you for the wonderful meal."
She smiled at them, Kagura and Tohru returned the smile and they smilt eat each other. Kyou just looked away. Nami sat for a few seconds.
"Shigure, I'm sorry to be a bother, but could you be so kind as to get Ha'ri. Tell him I'm ready," she said.
Before Shigure could answer, Ha'ri entered the room. Both Ha'ri and Nami smiled. Ha'ri took his seat between Shigure and Aya. Everyone's attention was on Nami, waiting on her to do what she is supposed to tell them.
"First off, I must tell you that if you don't agree with anything you are about to hear, I must say that you have to agree or you'll just harbor bad feelings towards me and I just don't like having people mad at me," she said.
Everyone nodded and she started with the speech.
"I'm not sure how much Shigure has told, ev, even though he was sworn to not tell, but Akito has chosen someone to take his place as the Head of Household for the Sohma's. How do I put this," she asked herself in outward thought. "Ha'ri would you like to try and explain it?"
"Softly put, Akito has chosen his heir. Nami is to be the Head of Household. Please do not try and bother Akito with this decision because it's already set in stone and it has been seen to that no one challenges his choice."
Nami sighed. "You can be a real downer sometimes, Ha'ri," she said smiling. "But what he says is right. I'm actually acting Head. Hatori will be by my side to show me the ways of your family so that I can be what was given me by the choice of my husband," she said, looking down.
Everyone looked on in silence. Momiji broke the silence.
"Your husband? You married Akito," he asked as though he couldn't believe his ears.
Nami was close to tears. "Yes, I married Akito. He does have capacity of love. It only depends on who the person who takes his interest. Now, to the real reason I am here. Last night, the person on the phone was Akito's mother. She called to let me know that he had passed away. He knew that you would want to know, so he sent me here when he knew it was time. I didn't know if you were ready for it, but he urged me to go with the plan."
Nami began crying, but it wasn't a full flow of tears. She had held back and Ha'ri and Aya both comforted her.
"So, who is Akito's heir?" Kyou asked nonchalantly.
"Nami is carrying Akito's child. They were married a month ago, but I was restricted from saying anything because Akito didn't want anyone to know about his choice."
This statement surprised even Shigure. They all looked at each other, including Kagura, whom Nami had told much of her plans to the day before in the woods. Tohru became a little over zealous and thought about hugging her, until a nagging question came to her mind.
"How did you get that wound on your side, then," she asked as everyone was thinking the same thing.
Nami bowed her head and tried to stop crying. "Akito tried to get me to leave the other day, but I wouldn't so he took me out to the rock garden and shoved me into the rocks, hoping it would deter me into coming here. But, thank God we were so close to Ha'ri's home. When he continued to walk without me, I got up, walked over to Ha'ri and collapsed in the way.way. Much like how I did yesterday. However, the deterrents are you. I must finish so that Ha'ri and I can return to the Main House."
At this request everyone fell silent so she could continue. Ha'ri lifted her eyes and looked at her.
"You want that I should finish," he asked her.
She nodded and Ha'ri took control of the story.
"Well, she's told you most of it, but Akito was in want that everyone comes to the Main House. That does include you, Kyou."
Kyou and everyone look at Ha'ri. Then everyone look at Kyou to see what his reaction would be.
"R..really? Why now? Why didn't he invite me before? Just because some girl had helped him see the better side to life, you think I'm going to do what Akito says? I don't think I want to go to the Main House."
Tohru looked at Kyou. "Well, I think it would be a great idea if you went, Kyou. It would be a chance for all the Sohma's to be in the same house at one time. That's what I think, at least," she said blushing.
Kagura turned the attention back to Nami and Ha'ri. "So, who is going to be acting the Father to Akito's child," she questioned.
Nami smiled at Kagura. "I'm glad you asked. A few days ago, we asked the same question of Akito. With his blessing, of course, after the time of mourning is over, he has chosen Ha'ri to parent his child. Of course, that would mean we would have to get married," she said the last part a little thoughtfully and smiled.
"How old are you exactly," Yuki asked.
Everyone sputtered as he asked the question.
"That's okay. I understand the confusion. I'm 20 years old. Ha'ri is only 29 and that is something that we can both deal with," Nami said, smiling through her final tears.
Ha'ri looked at her and smiled. Everyone was getting a little more confused than they had liked.
"Okay, so you married Akito, now Akito's gone and he gave you the blessing to marry Ha'ri?"
Nami nodded her head. Haru looked at them and sighed.
"Then what was with the whole I love you, Kyou in school?" Momiji asked.
"Oh, that was just a playful gesture. I knew that Kagura loves him and that eventually we would both meet up and have this same conversation together. See, Kagura, Shigure and Aya, besides Ha'ri and myself, already knew about what was going on, with the exception of Akito's baby."
"So, she really threw you into a tree?" Kyou asked, looking concerned.
Ha'ri looked at her with a furrowed brow. "A tree?" was all he asked.
Nami sighed and started speaking again. "Yes, Kagura threw, well, kicked me into a tree. But I guess you could say I started it. I told her this story I just told them and she was running back here to tell everyone else. The only way I could get to keep her mouth shut was to try and stop her in any way possible."
Haru smirked. "Didn't work out too well, did it, Nami," he asked a little snobby.
"No, Haru, it didn't. I ended up with the broken arm and torn sutures."
"Nami, you know you aren't supposed to be so physical and you know better than that," Ha'ri said a little disappointed.
"I'm sorry, Ha'ri. I will try and stop being so physical, but that won't be easy, you know," she said, winking at Kagura.
"It's the Boar in her," Kagura defended Nami.
Nami smiled at Kagura. "Thank you, Kagura, for being the only one taking my side," she joked.
"Well, being pregnant does not mean you can just go out and start picking fights, Namihiguhigure said.
"I know, Shigure. And, I don't even want your advice, Ayame," she smiled at the silver haired man as she gave him a chest hug, meaning she hugged him but placed her head on his chest and then let go.
"We should be going now, Nami. While you were sleeping, I felt you had a fever and I want to make sure you are okay and the baby is as well," Ha'ri said as he stood, helping up Nami and Ayame and Shigure smiled at the two.
'They really make a cute couple,' Shigure thought, uncommonly serious.
"Did you tell them," a dark, brooding voice commanded.
"Yes, they know," said Ha'ri.
"Good. Now, get rid of her. I can no longer stand to see her smile," he said.
Nami bowed her head and kept her tears silent.
"You brought her with you. That was very chivalrous of you, Hatori."
"She came of her own accord, Akito. I had nothing to do with her choice."
"You have more to do with her choices than you know, Hatori," Akito said as he walked over to him. Akito sat in front of Hatori and smirked. "She's like a dog that follows its master. You, Hatori, are her master. As her master, you are the one to teach her of the true way of the Sohma's. Get rid of her."
The whole time Akito was talking to him, Hatori bowed his head and tears fell down his cheeks. Nami lifted her head and watched everything.
"Once
" Ha'ri said which had surprised Akito.
"What?" Akito asked angrily.
"Once..," Ha'ri repeated, staring at Akito angrily as he cried. "You loved her once. You can't keep using people, Akito! Do you even realize that she's pregnant? She's carrying your baby," Ha'ri said as he stood. "You don't deserve the respect you want," he said defiantly as he walked back to Nami, helping her to foot, and the two started for the door.
Before they could reach the door, Akito pulled Nami from Ha'ri's grip and flung her to the ground. She hit hard and slid a few feet. Ha'ri turned when the grip was lost and Akito stabbed him in the side. He withdrew the small knife as Ha'ri sank to the floor, landing on his knees. Akito squatted in front of Ha'ri.
"It seems like we've been here before, Hatori. Defiance will not be rewarded," Akito said as Nami ran to Ha'ri's side, separating the cousins.
This infuriated Akito and he tried to move her to no avail. She wouldn't budge. She held Ha'ri's head on her chest and placed her arms around his neck.
"It's going to be okay, Ha'ri. I'll protect you," she said before looking at Akito.
"What is that glare for, Tsunami?" he asked smirking.
"You are an evil man and I don't know what drove me to think that you could ever change and invite someone into your heart, much less marry them, Akito."
With this small speech, Akito's face grew red in fury and he pulled her by the hair and away from Ha'ri, who was still sitting there watching him, not being able to move. Akito placed the small knife he used on Ha'ri on Nami's throat.
"You say she is carrying my child? Well, after I get done with her, she won't ble tle to carry anything," he threatened.
Everyone's attention was on Akito. Nami's from the floor as she saw his anger and Ha'ri from the spot where he was sitting. No one seemed to notice Shigure standing in the doorway. He saw the scene unfold with horror. He ran over to Akito and pulled the knife from his hand and released Nami from his grasp.
"AKITO! STOP THIS!" Momiji cried out as he looked on after Shigure went to save Nami.
The man looked at the 16 year old boy and scowled.
"You can't keep me away from her forever, Shigure. She is my property and I can do what I want with her," Akito claimed.
Shigure had no choice. He had to do something and quick or Nami's life would end soon and that would just make everything go haywire; especially if Kyou is involved.
"Aya! Come and get Nami and Ha'ri. Get them out of here!" Shigure called as Ayame came and helped the two out of the room.
Shigure let go of Akito and the 20 year old turned on his cousin and slashed at him. Shigure had absolutely no choice.
"Forgive me, Akito," he said.
"For what?!" he asked.
"For this," he said, punching Akito in the face and he fell to the floor.
Momiji stared at Shigure as he hit Akito.
"I'm sorry you had to see that, Momiji. But it had to be done. We have to get Nami home and Ha'ri to a hospital," Shigure said.
Shigure stepped out of Akito's room, leaving him lying on the floor and shut the door. He looked over at Ayame with a forlorn look.
"How are they, Aya," he asked sadly.
"Well, Nami is fine. However, I'm a bit worried about Ha'ri. It seems like no one is safe now, Shigure," Ayame said seriously.
"We were never safe, Ayame," he said as he looked over at Nami and Ha'ri.
Nami was hovering around Ha'ri's face and placed his head in her lap.
"I'lep yep you safe for as long as I live, Ha'ri. I won't let anything happen to you. I care too deeply for you," she said as she began to cry, her tears falling on his shirt.
Ha'ri smiled. "I
I'm sorry, Nami. I didn't realize what he pla planned," Ha'ri said.
Nami smiled at him and placed her hand on his face. "Don't worry about it, Hatori. I'm safe now, but you will have to be still. We need to get you taken care of and right now, anywhere would be better than here," she said as she looked up at Shigure and Ayame. Momiji was still staring at the door.
Shigure picked up Hatori and Nami stood and followed them to the car with Momiji in tow. Aya and Shigure sat in the front, with Aya driving. Nami and Momiji had to keep Ha'ri awake so the three sat in the back. Ha'ri's head was in Nami's lap. They were smiling at each other.
"You're going to be okay, Ha'ri. Shigure is taking us back to his house. I'll be taking care of you for now." She smiled at him like a newly wedded bride was staring at her husband.
"Do you know anything about medicine," he asked, smiling.
"I know plenty about the field of medicine, Ha'ri. I had a great teacher," she said as she pushed some stray strands of hair out of his face. "I would rather see that face than have you hide it, Ha'ri," she said smiling.
Momiji was watching the two and wondered what was going on between them. He turned his attention to Shigure and Ayame.
"Shigure, how did you know that Akito wasn't dead," he asked.
"Akito is supposed to die at 21. He's not that old yet. He still has about 7 months to live. So much strife has come from that boy, it's a wonder his mother didn't give him up when she had the ch," S," Shigure said as he looked at Ayame.
"True, Shigure that he was the source of everything that was painful in this family, but you have to look at it from his point of view. He never had the chance to live a normal and happy life. Everyone was telling him that he was going to die at 21. He probably gave up on a lot of things that he could have been able to do with his life."
Momiji nodded as though he acknowledged what both Aya and Shigure were saying as he looked at Ha'ri and Nami. She was trying to keep him awake. Momiji was on the brink of tears when they pulled into the driveway at Shigure's house. Kyou and Yuki were standing on the porch when they had parked the car and the two walked over to the car.
"Shigure," was the only statement they had made before they noticed Ha'ri and Nami in the back seat.
Kyou tore open the door of the car and tried to get Ha'ri out of the car as fast as he could and take him inside.
"TOHRU!" he called.
The girl came out of the kitchen and stared at Kyou.
"What happened," she asked, but didn't get an answer.
"Go open the door to the sleeping room. And don't question, just do it," he commanded her and she complied.
Soon, Nami was inside the room with him and looked at the stab wound. She held back her tears as she tried her best to dress his wound. Shigure sat next to her and hugged her.
"Nami, would you like some help? I can bandage him while you go and rest. Please, let me help, okay?" he asked softly as Nami put down the gauze she was going to use and put her head on his chest.
"Shigure, this is my fault," she said. "If I hadn't have gotten mixed up in this whole stupid thing, then Ha'ri would still be well and I wouldn't be here trying to keep him from dying," she confessed.
Shigure motioned for Haru to come and take over the bandaging of Ha'ri as he led Nami out of the room and to the guest room she and Ha'ri stayed in the night before.
"Nami, it's okay. Akito is just old and bitter, well mostly bitter. Ha'ri is going to be fine. Nothing can keep him out of commission for very long. He's very strong willed. I have an idea," he said as he stood up. "Can you wait here for me?"
She nodded and he left. Pretty soon, he returned with Tohru and Kagura. The three girls looked at each other and Shigure smiled.
"I asked them if they would help you wanytanything you may need. Is that okay with you, Nami?" Shigure asked.
Nami nodded and he left as Kagura and Tohru looked completely out of place. Nami sat on the bed and started crying. Tohru and Kagura walked over to her and hugged her, trying their best to comfort her.
"It'll be alright, Nami. Ha'ri is going to make hrouhrough this. Nothing is worse than what went on with Kana," Kagura said, which only made Nami even sadder.
Tohru saw that Kagura wasn't making anything better, so she just hugged Nami. Placing her hand on her head, she started petting her as she and Nami rocked back and forth.
"Kagura's right. Hatori is going to be fine, Nami. I can tell that you both love each other very much. And right now, all he needs is to know that you love him and your promise to protect him is an act of love. He can continue on with that. If you would like, when Haru and his help is done with the bandages, we can go and see how he is doing. How does that sound," she asked smiling at Kagura.
Nami sat up and sniffled. She wiped what tears she could and nodded.
"I would like that," she said, not knowing that Yuki and Kyou were standing in the doorway.
'Tohru can make anyone feel better,' Kyou thought as he watched everything unfold.
"Miss Honda," Yuki said softly.
Kagura, Nami and Tohru looked at the doorway.
"Yuki," she said, smiling.
"Is there anything we can do," Kyou asked.
Tohru smiled. "Yes there is something you can do. Go and fill a small basin with warm water, bring it here with a small wash cloth.
The Cat and the Rat's mouths drop and the two sigh as they slink off to find the basin and washcloth. Tohru laughed.
"Sending boys to do women's work is a wonderful idea," Kagura said, smiling ahru hru and Nami.
"What brought this rage on from Akito," Kagura asked softly.
"He told Ha'ri to get rid of me and Ha'ri refused. He even tried to slit my throat. Thank goodness that Shigure showed up when he did, otherwise, I and Ha'ri wouldn't be breathing," she said silently.
Kyou and Yuki were standing in the door when Nami spoke and the two looked at each other as they entered the room.
"Here is your request, Tohru," Kyou said as he looked at Nami and his heart couldn't help but feel sorry for her.
Kyou dipped the washcloth in the water and wrung out the excess water and lifted Nami's neck. He washed the small trickle of Ha'ri's blood that was there off and dipped it back in the basin and began to wash her face, hands and feet.
"Nami, I'm sorry for acting like I did yesterday. But, you look tired. If you would like, you can sleep in the room with Hatori. I think they are finished."
Yuki smiled. "I'll go and see if they are, Miss Heiwa," hed asd as he bowed and stepped out of the room.
Walking in the room, Shigure smiled at Yuki as Aya and Haru stand up. Yuki looked down at Ha'ri.
"She wants to sleep in here with him. She's exhausted, Shigure."
"I know, Yuki. You can tell her she can come, but she must know that he is weak. He did lose quite a bit of blood and I don't want anyone to go back to the Main House until he has calmed down," Shigure warned.
Yukided ded and exited the room. He walked back to the guest room and smiled softly at Nami, who was already asleep.
"Well, looks like I didn't have to go and ask after all. Let's go ahead and take her into the room with Hatori. Shigure said he was weak, but I think they are both weakened by stress."
Kyou took the extra washcloth he had brought and dried her hands, face, neck, and feet as he picked her up and carried her to the room where Shigure and Aya were standing over Hatori. He placed her on the floor next to Hatori. She placed her injured arm over his chest and laid her head on his arm.
"Shigure," Kyou started as he watched Nami and Ha'ri. "Something needs to be done. We can't just let Akito get wit with this," he said solemnly.
"I know, Kyou. But what can you do to the Head of the Household? We'll just have to wait a little longer and see if he calms down. If not, then we will corroborate a plan. Until then, I don't want to hear of you or anyone else going to the Main House. If he did this to his closest cousin, there's no telling what he would do to the Cat," Shigure said, his attention falling away from the sleepers.
"Let's let them sleep," Ayame proclaimed in a soft tone as he left the room.
Kyou and Shigure agreed with him and they left the room. They were met by Haru, Momiji, Kagura and Tohru in the sitting room.
"Shigure, what are you planning to do with this power freak," Haru asked, as solemnly as he could.
He didn't really know Nami too well, but if someone like Akito could love her then something must be very special about her.
"I know, Haru. But what should we do? No one has ever gone against Akito's choices. What are we to do," he asked himself as well as everyone else that was around the table.
Shigure looked at Kyou, Yuki, Haru, Aya and Momiji.
"No one has been able to get Hatori to smile since the incident with Kana. There is something in this woman that attracts the heart of Ha'ri. So, I think we should let them stay here for a while, at least until we know for sure that Akito has either died or completely calmed down. I would hate for something to happen to her. They seem to be precious to each other," Shigure sighed, trying not to sound like he was trying to make a joke.
Haru sighed and looked off to the side as Kagura and Tohru entered the sitting room. They take a spot at the table and listen to Shigure.
"We have to do something, Shigure. I'm not one for physical confrontation, but he tried to kill two people. Something has to be done and it has to be done soon," Yuki said angrily.
Ayame looked at his little brother and smiled. He had never shown any interest in anyone besides Tohru, so this want for a fight is just something totally new to him.
Shigure looked at Yuki and Kyou. "I whole-heartedly agree with you two, but what can we do? Ha'ri isn't able to get up for at least a couple days. Do you want us to just march in there and demand that he leave them alone?"
"It's not that simple," Haru said offering his opinion. "He will more than likely have someone come by here and demand that you hand them over and noncompliance will result in death to everyone in the house."
Ayame nodded. "Hatsuharu is right. I would be on your guard every minute. If not, someone or something is going to slip by and enter this house and take those two, either by force or by death."
Tohru looked at Ayame. 'He's being unusually serious today,' she thought.
Aya then cracked a smile. "Why don't I bring Mine and have her help with them? She's a really good assistant and I don't think anyone would realize that she is not a Sohma. You can just say that you've moved and not tell anyone where," he said.
Shigure sighed as he bowed his head down.
"So much for his being serious," Tohru said aloud.
Everyone looked at her which made her blush a deep beet red. She looked at Yuki. He looked beat and he kept looking to the door. He kept moving his attention from the group he the two in the other room. Tohru stepped over to him.
"Yuki, are you okay," she asked him in a small voice.
"Hm? Oh, yes, Miss Honda. I'm fine. I'm a little worried abHatoHatori."
She smiled at him. "We all are worried about Hatori. True, something has to be done, but we can't make any sudden moves until we know what's going on, Yuki," she said a little too serious for her own wellbeing.
Haru smirked at Tohru. Kagura sat there and listened to everything, but didn't offer any advice or say anything. She didn't like the way they are acting, but Haru was right. Akito had no right to try and kill them, but she didn't understand why Akito would try doing what he did. She stood and looked at everyone. Kyou noticed that she had gotten up and started to move towards the room.
"Hey, Kagura, what're you doing?" he asked.
"I'm going to see if they are alright. Trauma is everlasting. I just want to see how they are doing," she said as she entered the room and shut the door.
Kagura sat at their heads and watched them sleep peacefully.
'Hatori, you have found something special. Is she the one you have chosen to spend the rest of your life with,' Kagura thought as she smiled.
Nami moved a bit and looked up at Kagura. She was a bit surprised but she sat up.
"Oh, Nami. You can go back to sleep. I'm just here to keep an eye on you two. I just wanted to see if you were doing okay."
Nami smiled. "Oh, that's okay, Kagura," she said in a small whisper. "Hatori is sleeping. I was about to do a check on his side. Would you like to help me? I'm not sure if the guys did it right," she said as she smiled and pushed herself up using her good arm.
Kagura smiled and scooted over to Hatori's side. Nami slightly sat on his groin and unbuttoned his shirt. Kagura looked at her and smiled. She had never seen this happen to anyone in her family.
"Oh, this gives me a little better view. I'm not trying to be weird or anything," she defended.
Kagura made no move and waited for Nami to finish with the shirt. Finishing the final button, Nami pulled the shirt from his chest and looked for his cut.
Kagura smiled. "This is one big bandage," she said.
"Guys. Never let guys do anything that includes cutting. I thought Haru knew how to do this stuff," she complained as she took the gauze and threw it in trash. "Hand me his medical bag, Kagura," she said as she turned a small lamp on.
Kagura gave her the bag and she rummaged through it. Finally she found another package of gauze, a pair of cutting scissors, and some bandage tape.
"Um, Nami, are these supposed to be crooked?" Kagura asked, pointing out that the stitches were totally off line.
"No, they aren't supposed to be like that. I better fix them. I hate to hear about them being messed up," Nami said as she rummaged through his bag again and pulled out the suture kit.
Threading the needle, she sighed.
"I'll keep the sides close while you suture him up, okay?" Kagura said, smiling.
"That sounds like a plan," Nami said smiling as she put her hair up in a rubber band to keep it out of the way of the light.
She sat over by Kagura as she started the sutures. It took time and Hatori winced a few times, but never opened his eyes.
"Poor Hatori. I almost wish he would be doing this himself. I don't know how he could stand doing this when it hurts," Nami said.
"Do you know that they are planning on doing something to Akito," Kagura stated as Nami pulled the string too tight in surprise.
Ha'ri sat up and screamed. "What are you trying to do to me!" he yelled when he noticed that it was Nami and Kagura working on him.
"I'm fixing your stitches, gripey! Live with it or I will just let your side get infected!" she screamed back at him.
The two smiled at each other.
"Why are you fixing them? I thought Haru and Shigure took care of them earlier."
"They were crooked," Kagura said smiling.
"Well, don't pull so tight, okay? Itts wts when you pull them tight," he smiled.
When Hatori screamed, everyone jumped. They began to laugh when they heard Nami respond in a scream. They came into the room and watched as Nami took care of Hatori with Kagura by her side.
"Honestly, Ha'ri, I don't see how you can be such a pain. And don't scream at me. Next time, I won't be so gentle," she said winking at him.
"Ah, lover's quarrel," Shigure said as Yuki and Kyou sighed. Tohru giggled along with Momiji and Ayame. Haru had nothing to say.
Hatori looked at everyone and chuckled.
"If you could just learn how to put stitches in with the first try, then this wouldn't happen, Shigure," he taunted.
"Would you prefer me to pin you down or are you going to stop moving," Nami said still trying to get them to be straight.
"Pin him down! PIN HIM DOWN!" Shigure cried as everyone either laughed or looked at him.
"Shigure, you are a hopeless case, you know that," Ha'ri stated.
Shigure beamed with pride as everyone bowed their heads in exasperation. Nami finished her work and tied them. She looked at Hatori and smiled.
"Now, that wasn't so bad, was it," she asked.
Ha'ri cocked an eyebrow and put a finger on his lips as though he had to think about what she had just asked. Nami sat back on his gut and looked at him. When he kept the finger on his lips, she slapped him on the shoulder.
"Ow! That hurts!" he said smiling.
"Stop playing, Ha'ri," she said as she began to find his tickle spots and attacked him.
Trying to be gentle, she was actually sitting lightly on his stomach. They exchanged glances at each other as everyone just watched. For all Shigure knew, Nami was still tickling Ha'ri. Ha'ri reached up and pulled her rubber band out of her hair and let her hair loose.
"You should leave it down. Don't bunch it up, because it's beautiful this way," he whispered, smiling.
"It's good to see you are feeling better, Nami and Hatori. Is anyone hungry? I can make something quickly if you are," Tohru said smiling.
Hatori and Nami looked at each other and smiled. Shigure helped Nami up and Nami helped Hatori off the floor. She buttoned his shirt up and started to feel a little self-conscious about them with everyone watching them.
"Hey, I know," Kagura blurted out as everyone looked at her. "Shigure, Aya and Momiji, will you come with me and Tohru you can take Haru, Yuki and Kyou," she said happily.
Tohru agreed, but she had no idea what Kagura was talking about until she realized that Nami was blushing. She led the three guys out of the room so that Nami and Ha'ri could be alone. Nami gave Ha'ri a hug, in which she held onto his shirt. He put his head on hers as he wrapped his arms around her shoulders.
"I'm glad you are better, Ha'ri. I was about to go on a rampage," she said, sobbing silently.
"I'm sure everyone has told you this by now. Putting up with Aya and Shigure has given me a chance to really understand how they are and I want tdersderstand how you are," he said softly. "Akito doesn't understand the concept of love. He just uses people and that is how he doesn't let anyone come too close to him. Others are indispensable to him."
She held onto his shirt a little longer, not hearing Tohru enter thom. om. She looked into Ha'ri's eyes and smiled. He reached down and gave her a kiss.
"Nami, you are the one. I don't care what Akito says. I will do what I want. I'm old enough to take care of myself," he said as Nami's sobbing came a little louder.
"Um, Hatori, Nami, the food's ready. Whenever you feel like coming out, let me know and I'll put your portions in a container for you to eat later," she said politely as she stepped towards the door.
"Thank you, Tohru," Hatori said as he looked at her and smiled. "We'll eat later."
She took a step out of the room and Hatori finished his shirt and gave another kiss to Tsunami. He took her arm and led her out of the room into the sitting room.
Tohru smiled at them as they entered the sitting room. Hatori sniffed the air. Shigure just gave him a look of disappointment.
"What is that look for, Shigure?" Hatori asked.
"Oh, it was for nothing, Hatori," he sighed and smiled.
Nami smiled at Tohru and Kagura as the two chatted a bit. She walked over to them and sat between them. Ha'ri looked at her and smiled. She whispered something in their ears and they smiled, nodding. She returned her gaze to Hatori and stood up with Tohru and Kagura standing with her. Without so much as a word, they walked over to the door and opened it.
"Where do you girls think you are going?"
"For a walk, of course. You can't expect me to stay holed up here. I do have to get some air, Hatori."
The girls turned and looked outside. The snow was coming down lightly and the soft wind blew the hem of Nami's kimono lightly as she left the room after Tohru and Kagura. The last thing they saw before she shut the door was Nami's hair floating in the wind behind her.
"So, Hatori, are you sure you are going to let her go alone? I know Kagura is the Boar, but you have to admit that she can't protect Nami forever. And Tohru is just not as strong as any of us," Shigure said.
"She can hold her own, Shigure," Hatori said as he looked to Kyou slightly nodding.
Kyou got up and left the room, while putting his jacket on, he sighed.
'Girls, why do I have to put up with the girls,' he thought a little angrily.
Momiji and Haru followed Kyou while Yuki sat down with Hatori, Ayame and Shigure.
"Is she the one who is to save us, Hatori," Yuki asked.
"I don't know Yuki, but she deserves better than what Akito could give her."
Hatori sighed as he looked at the shut door.
