Phone Calls

Shigure walked down the stairs humming happily to himself and wondering how every one else had slept. Namely how Haru had managed with Kyo and if he was feeling any better, Hatsuharu hadn’t seemed too impressed about the whole matter.
“Good morning Tohru. Good morning to both Uo and Hana as well.” He smiled sitting down to breakfast. Tohru walked up to the table with the tray of pancakes a worried look on her face.

“Umm Shigure did you speak to Akito… about Hana and Uo?”

“Yes what are you planing to do about this now?” Questioned Hana in her usual dead pan voice.

“Oh, well that’s easy.” He said, waving his hand dismissively “We can’t very well go around erasing the memories of every high school girl, now can we? I’m sure its going to be fine. After all you’re not going to tell any one. Hatori will organize it. I’ll call him later today.”

Breakfast was eaten in silence until Shigure noticed Tohru looking worriedly up the stairs. Watching her for a moment, he couldn’t help but wonder why she was looking so concerned, even Hana and Uo were now watching her.

“Tohru, what’s the matter?” he asked tentatively laying his paper aside.

“Oh, hmm, sorry it’s nothing really. I was just wondering if Kyo is alright. I know Haru found him but they haven’t been down for breakfast, and…” raising his hand, Shigure cut her off from finishing her sentence.

“I know exactly how you feel. I’ll go and check on them now, okay?” Standing from the tale he saw her appreciative nod and began up the stairs.

Once upstairs and outside the room he quietly tapped on the door in case by walking in he startled someone.

“Haru I’m coming in okay.” He called when there was no answer to his knock.

Testing the door he heard the lock slid off the catch, it seemed that when Haru had shut the door last night it hadn’t actually locked. Sliding the door open he looked into the room and froze completely dumbfounded. The first thing he saw was Haru’s back to the door and a tad of orange hair just in front of him. Thinking it may be innocent despite how it looked he took a single step into the room and knew it wasn’t. Being the dog of the zodiac was good for one thing.

It gave him a rather good sense of smell.

He knew exactly what the scent in that room was, it wouldn’t take many people to figure it out if they knew it, but seeing those two and knowing them you would easily dismiss it. Shigure however knew better, when a whole room smelt very strongly of sex and sweat of the male kind it was always because there had been sex in that room.

A broad smile spread across is face as he ducked out the door, sliding it closed behind him. His first thoughts, ‘I wonder what Hatori would think of all this’. So with a happy cheerful hum he walked downstairs to inform Tohru that they were fine but they were asleep and to leave them be. Shigure quickly ducked off into his office to make a ‘very important’ phone call and he wasn’t to be disturbed.
Picking up the receiver he quickly punched in the number for Hatori’s phone in Sohma house and waited, still humming for the phone to be picked up.

“Hello.” Finally Hatori had picked up the phone when Shigure had called for the fourth time.

“Hello Hatori. I knew you were there, I hope I wasn’t interrupting anything important.” Shigure half sung through the phone. With a sigh Hatori knew exactly what kind of conversation this was going to be. Shigure wanted to gossip.

“Would it have honestly mattered if I was?”

“Not really” he sung through the phone, again confirming Hatori’s thoughts.

“What is it Shigure I do have things I would rather be doing.” There was silence from the other end of the phone for a few moments.

“Why Hatori you didn’t tell me Ayame was over there, you are so mean to me.”

Hatori gritted his teeth and said nothing, after so many years he was used to Shigure’s quips.

“But yes yes I know you’re right I really shouldn’t keep you, with you being so busy and all. You will never guess what I just saw.” The singsong voice returned.

“Shigure I really don’t have time for this.”

“Kyo and Haru were curled up in bed together. And I’m not talking in just a friendly way either.” Hatori’s jaw almost hit the ground at the news.

“Are you sure” he asked not letting his voice waver from it usual tone.

“Oh yes quite sure, the nose knows, there is only one thing they were doing in that room and I know exactly what it was…” Hatori\'s mind ignored the rest of Shigure’s rambling and smiled. So Kyo had finally allowed someone to get close to him, perhaps things were changing.

“I just simply can’t believe it I mean Kyo of all people…” Shigure still went on Hatori cut him off sharply.

“Shigure have you rung Ayame yet. Why don’t you call him and chat, I really do have other things to do.”

“Ahh yes Ayame.” The dog sighed “Do you remember when we were like that Hatori. How the three of us used to…” Hatori slammed the phone down on the receiver cutting Shigure off in mid sentence. Why did everything they ever talked about have to lead back to what they did in high school… and what they still occasionally did.

Sitting behind his desk Hatori resigned himself to paperwork since Shigure had dragged him out of bed. Smiling again at the news that Kyo had finally allowed himself some comfort he picked up his pen and read through the text.

After only twenty minutes of silence the phone rang again, determined to ignore it he let it go. When it was ringing again for the twelfth time he snatched up the receiver and held the phone to his ear.

“Hello Hatori. I\'ve just been on the phone with Shigure and you will never believe what he has told me.” Chattered Ayame through the receiver. Dropping his head to his hands Hatori took a deep breath, this was going to be a very, very long day.

“Let me guess Ayame, he walked in on Kyo and Haru asleep together after an obviously eventful night.” There was silence from the other end of the phone and for a moment Hatori almost believed Ayame was going to hang up. He should have known better.

“Why yes he did actually but not exactly in those words. You see he went down stairs for breakfast and a still shaky Tohru inquired after the two. Why she was shaky, Shigure wouldn’t explain but that’s not the point. So after quietly knocking on the door and receiving no answer, he assumed it was okay to go in. Upon walking into the room he realized the reason why they hadn’t answered the door…” Hatori sat listening dully as Ayame rattled off his whole elaborate story. As much as he would have loved to he couldn’t hang up on Ayame, not without reason any way. Being annoying wasn’t enough of a reason either so he had to sit and listen hoping Ayame would say something to warrant the end of the call.

“You know just thinking of those two makes me remember when we were in high school. The things we use to get into back then… the things we still do…” Hatori slammed the receiver back on the handle. Glaring at it he dared it to ring again, daring Ayame to call back. When the phone remained silent the dragon uncharacteristically growled at it before returning to his paper work.
