RIP Robert Asprin. May your journey to the next Dimension be a great one.
-Sparks That Fly-
The darkness about him was oppressing. The only light that pierced the overwhelming power of the night came from a tiny flashlight in his hands, which only lit a small cone before him as he made his way closer and closer to the haunted house. I just HAD to make that bet, didn’t I? Stupid hormones. The young boy though angrily, his eyes only able to pick up muddles shapes and the looming structure before him. Being too young to be an official Tamer, he had jumped at the chance of his brother offering a night with one of his pokegirls, baring he could prove himself by going to this damned place and returning with an item from inside. Of course, if I can do this...I’ll be able to tap that Catgirls fine ass.
With a lecherous grin of the thought of banging his brother’s prized pokegirl, the young boy continued on to the building, shining his light in front of him at all times. Other then the odd stories that were often told about it, there was nothing really that stood out about the house, it looked much like any other house that had been built in Strawberry Grove. It was a single story, square in shape, and all together was entirely normal with the sole exception of the building being lined up in a row of buildings as was most common, mainly because the others had burned down long ago and too many people were frightened to even try to rebuild there. He was expecting something a bit more then this though and the stories of something frighteningly un-pokegirl being there didn’t faze him in the slightest with the promise of sex.
Of course, the sudden sound of something snapping behind him, when he had been overly careful to insure that nothing would be following him, did make his hair stand on end. It’s alright, he thought, his cone of light jumping and shaking along with the fear in his body. It’s probably nothing.
Apparently, ‘nothing’ was large, scaly green, glinting yellow green eyes, and had numerous rows of sharp, pointy, teeth that were stretched wide with a hungry smile.

“Come on, Rui, Please?” The red-haired witch wined, pressing herself against her tamers side, eyes wide and lips pouted. It hardly mattered to her that they were right in public where anybody else walking down the street could see, in fact, she was hoping that would add to the want of her tamer to stop such actions. Even is she wasn’t vastly impressed by Skeeve’s living style, she could smell the magic coming off that book that he had given Rui, and if there was something Lina Inverse must have it was powerful items such as that book.
“No, Lina, I’m not going to give you the book no matter how many times you ask me.” Rui replied, giving the pokegirl a glare, his hand reaching to his belt to show how annoyed he was getting with her.
“Hey, I’ll even pay you for it! How does 600 SCL sound?” The girl continued, pulling away from the tamer to raise her hands with the numerical amount on them in the form of six raised fingers.
“I said no! I wouldn’t even sell it if you had 600,000 SCL! Not only is it something that my uncle gave me but it’s also something that will help me find Io!”
“Fine, fine.” Lina relented, crossing her arms as she continued to walk beside the male, giving a glare to a staring Kitten as it passed by. I’ll just continue following you till you give it to me…and to keep tamed. That thought made the Witch blush, remembering what he and his Draco had done to her the night before and how good it had felt. Trying to get her mind off of what had happened she changed the subject. “Hey, how come Aiyoku and Rosa aren’t out and about?”
“We’re in the city limits.” Rui replied, giving a glance to his pokegirl, his voice lowering a bit. “I’ve been a tamer for what, three days tops? Having a Draco out and about where everyone can see her is just asking for anyone with just a hint of greedy blood in them to try to get their hands on her. I don’t want Aiyoku to have to deal with that. As for Rosa, she’s a feral. She’s completely and utterly unused to the city, and I rather not have her freaking out when she’s freshly tamed.”
The two continued to walk on, Lina accepting Rui’s explanations, if not agreeing with them. However, Lina herself was a very vocal girl, and with the grating silence that pressed in about her, it wasn’t long before she was creating more questions to keep the dreaded quiet away. “So, where exactly are we going now? I know we’ve gotta meet up with this Aahz character that Skeeve talked about, but if he’s anything like your uncle…”
“What about my uncle?” The red haired teen asked, turning on the equally red haired Witch.
“N-nothing!” Lina exclaimed, waving her gloved hands before her. “It’s just that even among just magic types he was a bit odd. And if Aahz is cut from the same cloth, we’re going to have an interesting meeting with him.” She shrugged, having dealt with many a wacko and weirdo in the past, knowing from experience that insanity and magic were among the most dangerous and most lethal of combinations, especially if Sukebe was taken into account.
“It’s going to be more then a meeting, Lina. If anything, Aahz might be my teacher so I can learn magic. It’s no Vale, but I don’t have the money for that, nor the transport to go to such a place.” Rui replied. “Besides, not everyone in the world has to learn every little spell and such from the ‘official source’, right?”
“Right…” Lina conceded, turning her head away a bit. It was then she noticed that the amount of people about them had dwindled down to almost nothing and that it appeared as if Strawberry Grove was suddenly become in disrepair about them. “Uh, Rui? Are we going the right way?”
“Huh…this is where the directions said to go. I wonder why my uncle’s friend would be living in a place like this.” The tamer frowned, also noting the scenery about him for the first time. Walking into the ‘bad’ part of the neighbor hood was not exactly something Rui had ever done in his youth of visiting this City, and it was certainly not exactly what he wanted to do as a full fledged tamer as well.
Grasping the balls at his belt, Rui tossed them into the air, watching as they split open and Aiyoku and Rosa appeared in the customary flashes of light. The feral plant girl instantly took in her new surroundings, making sure there was nothing around that would get the drop on her like her master had. Aiyoku instantly stood beside her tamer, giving him a smile as she mimicked her harem sister. “Where are we, Rui?”
“Still in Strawberry Grove,” the tamer replied, scanning around him for any hint of Aahz’s home. Most of the places looked run down at best with several of them being either completely unlivable because of condition or occupants, one rather ragged looking bum hanging from the window sill of a house. For as beautiful as Strawberry Grove had always been to Rui, he had never seen this darker side of it. “Though a part of it I’ve never really gone into, and apparently with good reason. The sooner we find Aahz, the better.”
“So, what the exact address, Rui? Or are we going to have to knock on the doors of ever homeless guy and gang banger in the area just to find out if he’s even here.” Lina asked, crossing her arms with a rather unimpressed look on her face.
“According to the directions, it should be at the end of the road.” Rui said, a little unsure himself as his eyes followed up the road to a single house, surrounded by what looked like the left over husks of burnt homes to either side of it, surprised a bit that even if this was the run down part of the city that something would be left in that condition.
“I wouldn’t go in there if I was you.”
The group turned to see a rather old man, his clothes torn and worn from over use, teeth that were little more then blackened husks that hung from his gums, and a head of sparse white hair in desperate need of a flea bath. It actually took the young tamer a second to realize that this was the same bum he had seen on the window sill only a few moments earlier. “They say something evil lives within that corpse of a house, something that strikes fear even into the strongest of pokegirls.” The hobo said, his voice surprisingly strong and smooth, yellow eyes bright as he gazed upon the troop.
“What are you talking about, Old man?” Lina asked, raising a red eyebrow at the homeless man.
“I’m saying that unless you want a death wish, little girl, you’d stay far away from that cursed house.” He replied giving a grin to the Witch that made her recoil in disgust.
“What about the man that lived there? Aahz?” Aiyoku questioned, bravely looking directly at the hobos face, her own locked in a stern stare.
“Don’t rightfully know. Heard some screaming a few nights ago, so what ever is in there could have got him.”
“And what about the police, then? Didn’t they do anything to investigate if something’s happened?” Rui added, wondering why such a man was even giving them a warning in the first place, considering the lack of care he had shown towards himself. Why would he worry about a random tamer and his girls?
The old man shrugged, using a long, yellow finger nail scratch at on of his black teeth, the husks moving and wiggling against his touch, almost threatening to fall out of his mouth. “They don’t care much for the guy, last I heard. He was a bit of a grouch to them if memory serves. Penny Pincher too. He’d do his best to swindle people out of just about any kind of deal, if it meant a bit more gold in his pocket.”
“Doesn’t sound like the kind of guy you want to learn magic from…” Aiyoku commented, a small frown on her face.
“Actually, lots of Magic users are like that. Spell components and stuff like that don’t come cheep, ya know.” Lina said, shrugging slightly.
“Regardless, we’ve got to see what’s happening in there.” Rui suggested, his eyes trailing from the old man to the house before them, once more wondering why nothing had been done to even take care of the dead houses surrounding either side of the home. “At the very least to see if Aahz is still around.”
--
It wasn’t there, that much Neblim knew, and frankly the man was quite glad that he hadn’t had to go through Skeeve in the slightest to obtain the book. Though it did mean more effort and time in the long run of things to obtain it, it was something that he’d gladly wait for. Still, he was more then a little unnerved that the ‘Great Skeeve’ hadn’t used the books power for himself.
“So, this book…” The mercenary beside Neblim said, squinting at the sheet of paper in his hands, burning every detail of the books appearance into his mind. He was a large man, enough so that most would guess that he had Amachamp blood running through his veins, and clothed rather conspicuously in a brown cloak that matched his size, the garment paired up with a hat that was coned upward and to the back, moving with each of his movements. “This is all you want, huh? And you’re certain that this kid Rui has it?”
“My recent observations and contacts state as such.” Neblim stated simply, giving the man only a minor glance before turning away from him. “I would attempt to obtain it myself, but I have other… pressing matters to attend to.”
The man snorted, guessing that his mysterious benefactor was more or less just lazy, like every other man with money that he had ever met. There was one question that was bothering him though… “What’s so special about this thing that you’re willing to pay this much for it?”
“You don’t need to know that to do what I’m hiring you for.” Neblim said with a slight biting tone in his voice, his patience with the mercenary slowly wearing thin. “Just get the book by any means necessary and I promise you that you will receive your reward.”
With another snort, the man shrugged as he followed the road that Rui and his girls had been on not too long before, wanting to cash in on a really quick and fulfilling payday, knowing that he wouldn’t have to worry about anything for a long while with that amount of cash.
No sooner then the mercenary had left did Neblim’s cold attitude suddenly grow harsher, his eyes staring back at the now empty spot. “Yes… a reward a scum like you deserves.” He muttered through clenched teeth, disgusted with himself for even having to associate with such a piece of filth. Knowing, though, that if everything went according to plan he wouldn’t ever again have to see the mercenary, Neblim pulled out his scroll, and vanished.
--
“Alright, so we’ve got the strategy everyone?” Rui asked, glancing over each Pokegirl, making sure they were all prepared for anything that might happen.
“Yep. I’m on offence.” Lina grinned, snapping her fingers, a small spark appearing from the action. “With my spells I should be able to throw the opposite element at what ever might be in there and if I don’t have it, I can always fall back onto my Witch’s Curse. Just be sure and stay back if it comes to that.”
“I’m on back up.” Aiyoku picked up, smiling at her harem sister. “In the case nothing Lina has can take what we’re fighting down, I’ve got a few dragon attacks that might do the trick.”
“And in the case that doesn’t work, Rosa,” Rui said, turning to the Oddtits latched against his arm, smiling up at him. “Will hit them with a spore attack, hopefully paralyzing them and giving time for us to get the hell out of there.”
“I still think it’s a bad idea for you all to go in there.” Muttered the hobo, frowning as he intruded on the little huddle between tamer and pokegirls, making sure that his opinion was known.
“We heard you before, old man.” The witch snapped, giving him a sharp glare. “We’re willing to take the chances.”
“Fine fine. Don’t listen to the friendly, sane voice that wants to save your skin from the terror that lives in that house.”
No sooner then he had left, Lina turned to the others, a confused look on her face. “Just who is that guy?” She got no answers.
The inside of the house was, if anything else, just as bad as outside, looking as someone had gone through the entire living room, ransacked it, and after not finding anything, tore it up even more for good measure. Taking the front as they had planned, Lina focused her magic into her fist, letting a small ball of light emerge from it and float above them.
“Damn, this place is a re-” She started, turning her head towards the male when a sudden bolt of lightning slammed into the Witch’s side, throwing her across the room. Chasing right after her came a pokegirl, her body a steely grey with large gloves and boots, red and blue wires sprouting from her head. Slamming herself into Lina, the metallic girl reared back a fist, punching the witch once more, causing her to scream in pain.
Snapped out of her shock from the sudden attack, Aiyoku leaped on top of the feral pokegirl, her claws glowing as she struck them into her enemies back. Screeching, a sound that could only be described along side with nails on a chalk board, four little satellites split of the girl’s body, more electricity emitting from the metal disks and coursing through the Draco’s veins.
“Aiyoku, Lina!” Rui shouted, watching the two girls fall to the ground, their bodies twitching from the attacks. The metallic girls head shot up at the sound, her colorless eyes staring at him, almost appearing confused at his presence. Leaving her battered foes on the ground, she stepped towards the young trainer, her face scrunching up as she did so. With her harem sisters down, Rosa stepped before her new master, bunching herself up in preparation for her spore attack. The poor Oddtits didn’t even get a chance to attack, her opponent backhanding her with an iron fist, causing the young feral to crumple into a heap.
Now with all of his pokegirls out of commission, Rui felt his stomach twist as the feral stepped towards him, her face once more contorted in a look of confusion. Thinking that she was going to do the same to him that she had done to her girls, the young teen closed his eyes, bracing himself for the hit. Instead of the bone crushing attack slugging into his body, there was the feeling of cool fingers that wrapped about his chin.
Risking a peak, Rui was surprised that the pokegirl continued to run her fingers against his face, a faraway look in her eyes. Just what was she doing?
“FIREBALL!”
With that simple shout, the clutter of garbage and overturned furniture exploded beside tamer and pokegirl, the girl letting out a screech of surprise and fear at the sudden appearance of the flames licking beside her. Removing her hands from the male, the pokegirl bolted instantly, crashing through a nearby window, not giving it a second thought on remaining in the house nor of the glass splintering behind her.
“What was that?” Aiyoku asked, her body shaking from the attack, still numb from the energy that had gone through her like liquid.
“Maggiemite.” Muttered Lina, wincing no sooner then the words came out of her mouth, a large black welt forming along the lower side of her left cheek. She was also cradling her side, wincing with her breath. Not wanting her to suffer any more pain, Rui returned the battered Witch to her pokeball, Rosa soon joining her from her still prone heap on the floor.
“Damn, kid, you actually did it.” The hobo muttered, walking in from another room, causing both tamer and Draco to jump. In his hands he held a bucket filled with water, which he proceeded to dump on the small burning fire beside him “Don’t need to burn down the entire place, though.”
“Ok, what the hell’s going on?” The tamer asked, completely confused with the appearance of the old man once more.
“Mmm? Oh! Sorry about that. Here, let me make this a bit easier for you.” The man said, pulling a mirror out of his ragged shirt. It was an odd mirror, still having the reflective surface but also having several knobs on its side, one decrepit hand moving up to them. With a twist, the homeless man before them melted away, his skin becoming scaly green while shrinking, becoming easily as short as Aiyoku, though his form became stocky and strong. What little hair he had shrank away into nothing as his yellow eyes became even more pronounced, black teeth becoming rows of razor sharp white ones as the transformation completed and the demon before them smiled.
“Nice to meet ya, kid. I’m Aahz.”
Rui did the only sensible thing with meeting up with a shape shifting monster such as this. He fainted.

Maggiemite's are a very unique breed of Pokégirl. She is a 'Tech' Pokégirl, but in fact is one that blurs the lines between the Tech and the normal. Maggiemites are nearly human in form, but can hardly be mistaken for human – their skin, a form of pliable, living flesh-like metal that solidifies upon hard contact – is always a shade of non-reflective gray, the shade varying from girl to girl. A Maggiemite's skin almost always feels cool, unless it is significantly warmed or chilled by the local temperatures. The only inside of her is there any sign of body heat. Their hair is always red and blue, split between the two colors right down the middle, and often, but not always done up in symmetric ponytails to a magnet design. Their 'hair' is not actually hair, but a sort of soft plastic-like fiber that does not conduct electricity and thus is not affected by proximity to electricity. Their pupils are universally a pale white, usually giving, to the casual viewer, the impression that they have no pupils at all. On the back of a Maggiemite's hands are two translucent half-spheres about an inch and a half wide, one red, and the other blue. Similar half-spheres appear on both feet, just below where they meet the leg. The red spheres are always on the same side of the body as their red hair, and vice versa. They are younger in appearance that most Pokégirls, around 5 feet tall, with slim figures and with B-cup breasts at best. Despite this, they are surprisingly heavy, weighing roughly 220 lbs.
A Maggiemite's body has minor morphing qualities. They can shift their arms and legs, which normally appear human standard, into more solid gloved and heavy boot-like forms, giving them a solid base during combat. Their strength does not change when this happens, only the Maggiemite's own resistance to damage(which nevertheless allows the Maggiemite to exert more force without fear). Maggiemites may also morph their fingers into sharp claws, which can be used to cut things with ease or to perform various attacks. When a Maggiemite's body is subjected to heavy force, her skin reacts automatically, hardening to steel-like resilience against the attack and then softening as soon as the pressure is removed. This occurs even when the Maggiemite creates the force herself, such as when she is striking a heavy object. Despite this, Fighting and Ground-type techniques are very effective against the armor-like skin, and Fire attacks are not only effective but unless they hold some sort of other physical element (like Fire Punch) the skin's special properties don't even trigger at all, not that it has much effect at all.
One of the most interesting facts about the Maggiemite is that she is a girl with serious mental issues. This does not at all mean that Maggiemites are not intelligent - rather, their minds naturally tend towards rapidly changing moods, reactions, and extremes. One minute she may be as shy as a mouse, and the next she just can't have enough taming, not even caring if she's in a room full of other people. Even the most 'stable' of Maggiemites are like this, though their extremes tend towards emotional extremes. It is because of their randomness and great difficulty to keep up with that they are unpopular among tamers.
The Maggiemite's other bizarre trait are the four spherical satellites (each about the size of a baseball, having two small magnets on each side and one blank so-called 'eye' in the center), that hover around them at all times. These spheres can be controlled directly by the Maggiemite, but when not being directly manipulated, they move around almost as if they had a mind of their own, sometimes staying still and calm, other times moving around in a wild dance. The movements of the spheres in fact unconsciously move to mirror the Maggiemite's mood. Those skilled at recognizing the different patterns can determine a particular Maggiemite's mood, even from a distance. Even when a Maggiemite is sleeping, the satellites hover about on their own. The satellites are moved around by magnetic force, and can act as release points for the Maggiemite's electrical power. The half-spheres on a Maggiemite's hands and feet actually provide the connection to the four satellites, and if a satellite is destroyed, a replacement will be generated from them to take its place, at the cost of some energy.
Maggiemites were created by Sukebe to help assaults on enemy fortresses. Their offensive power was not spectacular, but their resistance to many forms of attack let them take a great deal of abuse, ideal for the brutal assaults. Their wild mentality, originally a design flaw that nearly made Sukebe abandon the line, proved surprisingly useful during the war where their unpredictability and extreme emotions made them a terror to face on the battlefield, despite their relative lack of power. Once inside of the enemy bases, where heavy metals could be found in almost every direction, they became a nightmare, using their magnetic movement to increase their maneuverability and move in ways that seemingly defied gravity. Their other saving grace was the Magnetic control unique to the line, which, among many other uses, helped give Maggiemites a surprisingly strong advantage over her fellow Steel-Types (though not against other Maggiemites).
Maggiemites are fairly versatile Pokégirls, capable of attacking at close range with powerful steel claws and strikes, electric attacks at both melee, short, and eventually medium ranges. Maggiemite's offensive abilities can, like the girls themselves, be a little unreliable, becoming dangerously inaccurate or inconsistent in power if the Maggiemite's mood is poor. They are not very fast Pokégirls, instead relying on their toughness and ability to strike both up close and at a distance to win the day.
In an area where there is solidly emplaced metal in all directions, however, like the indoors of some buildings, a Maggiemite can use it's Magnetic Levitation ability on a whole new level, 'repelling' itself from any given direction, letting it move much faster and in ways that otherwise would be much too ungainly to do, like suddenly change directions mid-air during a jump (by pulling themselves towards a wall in the desired direction), walk along ceilings, and other unexpected forms of movement. Levitation speed doubles in such an environment.
All Maggiemites have the natural ability to levitate, effectively repelling themselves away from the Earth's own natural magnetic field and using that to maneuver. The levitation is not very fast nor capable of complex maneuvers, however, though it improves as the Maggiemite evolves.
In the wild, Feral Maggiemite's are a truly unpredictable sight, especially in battle. They could fight their opponents to the death or lay down and spread their legs, waiting to be tamed. Or both. They are rarely found Feral anymore, however, except in unusual locations, as their electrical diet usually means they must stick close to urban civilization in order to eat – which makes them relatively quick to be captured.
Thresholding into a Maggiemite is quite rare, but when it happens the girl in question tends to push away her family and friends, not wanting them to deal with her sudden drastic changes in behavior and form.
One of the greatest mysteries about the Maggiemite is how she is able to control and manipulate multiple magnetic fields simultaneously, and get them to do exactly what she wants, even when being affected by many other magnetic fields - some of them very strong. Researchers are still studying this, and some are convinced that discovery of that method could lead to an industrial revolution, should that power be tapped. So far, no progress has been made.
Current Pokedex:

Author Notes: Sorry for the damn long wait for this everyone. How long has it been…? A year, maybe? That’s too damn long and something I (Hopefully) am going to rectify and change in the future, to get more of this out, if only for my fans. Really, blame it on the fact that I just couldn’t get myself together for this chapter and it required actually brining a character from a fellow author in to give it a kick in the butt.
Speaking of my fans, here’s something special for you, since we’ve got a Reply system over at the website for reviews, I will be giving a reply to your reviews from now on. So, lets’ do this!
DizzyRye – Lol, thank you for all your checks, double checks, and triple checks! Believe it or not, I kinda got some flack for that ReBoot cameo back in chapter one, so it’s good to see someone enjoys them as much as me.
ShadowKnight – Been waiting? Sorry about that! I’ll try to be better about that in the future.
Coldstone – Honestly, you flatter me. I’m not all that great, with one of the main reasons being the simple fact that I don’t update all that often. And this is one of your favorites? Considering I like Shadow Storm better myself… Seriously, though, I may have raw talent, but someone like Slash Firestorm (shameless plug for Sinners here) has refined that talent to a fantastic skill.
Thanks for being patient guys, and hope to see you soon. Check out my other Pokegirl stories!
