Chapter Four

Shuichi wasn’t doing too well. As soon as he had arrived in America, Ryuichi had planned trips to the beach, the movies and theme parks. Shuichi would usually jump at the chance at visiting all these neat places, but his heart wasn’t in it.

He felt like he was sinking into a pit of sadness, he hated being around people. All he wanted to do was disappear into nothingness. He didn’t want to hurt anymore. He was tired of being hurt. He did feel grateful to Hiro and Ryuichi. They had tried so hard to get him to interact, but he just wasn’t into anything.

Shuichi had let Ryuichi dye his hair, Ryuichi of course wanted to dye it the same colour as his, but Shuichi wouldn’t allow him to. He already looked like his idol, he didn’t want people to think he had copied the older man. So he had picked black. He didn’t feel very colourful.

Like he said, he did try to enjoy himself, but he hated every minute of it. Pretending to happy, plastering a fake smile on his face all the time. He didn’t want his friends to worry, but he knew they did anyway. He would always lock himself in the bathroom, it was his place to escape too. He would just sit with his back against the door, trying not to cry.

He couldn’t take it, it was all too much. When he had been raped by Taki’s thugs, he had had Yuki to take care of him, but now that it was Yuki who had raped him, he felt like he had no one. He felt uncomfortable talking to Hiro or Ryuichi, maybe because they hadn’t been through it.

And now he didn’t have anyone to understand what he had been through. He didn’t plan on killing himself, it just got too much to handle. He was once again in the bathroom, and he broke apart one of Ryuichi’s razors.

The pain wasn’t as bad as when Yuki had stabbed him, but it hurt like a bitch. He didn’t remember much after that, apart from feeling numb. The last thing he did remember was the door bursting open and voices, then he lost consciousness.

--

When he woke up in the hospital, he felt like he had failed. He hated himself, he could never do anything right. He remembered screaming and trying to leave the hospital, but the doctors caught him and sedated him.

The next time he woke up, it was night and Hiro and Ryuichi were both asleep in chairs beside the bed. He had managed to dress quietly and slip out of the room. It was also good luck that he managed to slip out of the hospital.

--

Hiro was the first one to wake up, when he saw the empty bed, he woke up Ryuichi and they both immediately went looking for Shuichi. They both met back at Ryuichi’s place with no good news. So Ryuichi called Tohma to let the man know was happening.

--

Back in Tokyo, Tohma was nearly ready to pull his hair out. Ryuichi had just called him to tell him Shuichi had managed to sneak out of the hospital and they couldn’t find him anywhere. He had sent K and Fujisaki over there, but they wouldn’t arrive until tomorrow. So he had a depressed, suicidal rock star on the lose.

Like he said before, he used to hate Shuichi, but he was scared for the younger man. He couldn’t find it in him to hate the man any longer. For once in his life he felt helpless, he had no control. He had called all the people he knew in America and they were all out looking for Shuichi.

When the phone rang, he dashed over to it.

“Tell me you’ve found him?” He nearly shrieked.

“Found who?” Eiri’s asks, and Tohma winces.

“No one…how are you?”

“Come one Tohma, don’t bull shit me. What’s going on?”

Tohma sighed. He might as well tell the man, he knew it would send Eiri over to America. But if there was a chance that Eiri could help, he would take it. He also thought about heading over there himself.

He took a deep breath and told the man what had happened.

--

Yuki and Tohma arrived in America the next evening. The flight was tense, and Eiri looked like he wanted to knock the pilot out and fly the plane himself. Instead, he placed one of his relaxation CD’s in his player and put his earphones in.

Now that they had left the jet, they were met by K, who drove them to Ryuichi’s house. When Eiri walked in, he wasn’t greeted with respect. Basically, Hiro punched him. To everyone’s surprise Eiri didn’t retaliate. He just got to his feet and went to stand by the window, with his hands in his pockets.

Yuki didn’t blame Hiro for hitting him, hell he had been surprised that the man didn’t beat the shit out of him. He knew he deserved it.

“So, any news?” Tohma asked.

K shook his head. “No, we have people stationed at airports, train and bus stations. He hasn’t been seen which means he’s still here somewhere, unless he managed to get someone to give him a lift…”

He didn’t need to continue, they just had to hope that Shuichi hadn’t hitched a ride with someone and was staying in a hotel somewhere.

“We’re scouring the hotels, motels, and any other kind of accommodation. So we just have to hope for the best.”

They stood in uncomfortable silence for a moment, before Yuki turned to look at them.

“Have you tried the nearby parks? He likes parks.”

When blank faces greeted Yuki’s question, he just nodded and left without saying a word. He knew there was a park nearby, and if he knew his brat, he would be there. If not, he knew there were many other parks, a lot more. But he would search every single one if he had too.

Yuki didn’t know how he knew, but he had a feeling Shuichi would be here. As he walked round the park, he saw Shuichi huddled on a bench under a lamppost. Yuki stopped for a moment, wondering if it would be better if he called one of the others, he didn’t want to scare the younger man.

From where he stood, he took a good look at Shuichi. The younger man looked like he had lost a lot of weight, his face looked white and his now black hair made him look different, not like the genki, bouncy baka he had once knew.

He then realised that it was his fault that Shuichi was like his, he had driven the man to try and take his own life. He was afraid to move, he didn’t know how Shuichi was going to take to seeing him again. But he couldn’t let Shuichi out of his sight, not when he had found him.

He quickly took out his cell phone, and sent a quick message to Tohma, letting him know he had found Shuichi. He then switched his phone off, he didn’t want anyone to disturb him.

“I know your there.” Shuichi’s voice made him jump.

Yuki looked round to find his eyes drowning in big purple orbs overflowing with sadness. Yuki slowly walked forward, only just noticing the knife in Shuichi’s hand. The vocalist was running the blade against arm, drawing blood. It was only small cuts, not by any veins, but Yuki was terrified.

He sat down on the bench, he eyes glued to the knife, making sure Shuichi didn’t suddenly decide to slash his wrists again.

“What are you doing here Yuki?” Shuichi’s voice was just barely above a whisper.

“Everyone’s worried about you.”

Shuichi gave a humourless laugh. “That doesn’t answer my question. What are you doing here?”

“I was worried about you.”

Shuichi chuckled again. “Don’t make me laugh. Your just annoyed that I’m not around so you can take your frustration out on me.”

Yuki winced at the younger mans words, but he knew he deserved whatever Shuichi threw at him.

“Why did you try and kill yourself?” He asked.

Shuichi sighed. “The nightmares are getting worse…all I see is blood-” He stopped talking, he hadn’t told anyone about Yuki stabbing him.

Yuki just nodded his head. “I know, I have nightmares too, where I’m covered in your blood.”

Shuichi glanced at Yuki. “So…you remember?”

“My psychologist hypnotised me, I remember everything I did to you. I’m so sor-”

“Don’t even think of apologising, nothing you can say can ever make up for what you did to me. I think you should leave, I can’t even bear to look at you.”

Yuki bent his head and began to cry. Shuichi looked at him, wondering if he was hearing things. Yuki couldn’t be crying, the man couldn’t cry to save his life. But he could clearly see the tears falling down the blondes cheeks.

Shuichi didn’t know how he felt listening to Yuki cry. He had never seen the man vulnerable before. But when he had looked in the blondes eyes, he could see how sorry he was, but was that enough? Everything the man had done to him, could Shuichi really forget and give Yuki another chance.

He frowned, he was beginning to feel dizzy. His eye sight was blurry. He knew he was going to pass out soon.

When Yuki finally looked up at Shuichi, his breath caught in his throat. Shuichi was looking at him intently.

“Shu…”

He caught the younger man as he passed out in his arms. Picking him up, he carried him to back to Ryuichi’s place. As soon as he entered, everyone started fussing over Shuichi, he was still unconscious so Ryuichi called his private doctor and the man told them that Shuichi was dehydrated and he passed out due to lack of food and liquid, he had also patched up the cuts Shuichi had made.

Now all the men were sat in the front room, waiting for Shuichi to wake up.
