Chapter 4: the philosopher’s stone

For the next week Haji could be no where near Saya which hurt them both greatly. He could not even look at her through the window of her room for she would claw at the window screaming in internal pain. He could not even play their song without her calling to him in a voice that’s sound was of a tortured soul in a pure, anguishing moan, as Diva’s was that no human could hear. Haji asked Julia if he could look through her records to see if there was something that he could see that she could not. This was of no help. Finally one day everyone was at Omoro’s they decided to go up to see if they could comfort Saya. She stayed motionless on her bed looking out the window to scan for her ever close Chevalier. “Saya?” Julia called. But she gave no answer. “Saya I have some good news.” “Can I see Haji?” her raspy voice clear cut monotone and demanding “not now I afraid but soon.” “when?” “in a few days.” Saya buried her head in her pillow. His sent was always close she knew that he was near she could feel him but she could not see him in her natural vision. “Saya” she said again. “why are the others outside my door.” “do you want them to leave.?” “no I just don’t like them all out there they can come in if they want. I don’t care” They shuffled in with there heads low. “Saya the good news is that I have found out why you are feeling strange.” “I already know.” “what?” “I already know. It’s because I love him but he can not …he can not conceive with me…” tears filled her eyes. “if we were human then it would be different.” “but that’s not the whole reason.” Saya looked up her eyes longing and fearful like an abused child not sure whether to trust her rescuers only hoping not be hurt again but expecting another kick in the side. “You have felt this longing before but it has not been this strong. Diva conceived on her first time so there is no marker for when it could start again.” “so that your saying for the rest of my life even when I marry Haji that I will still attack him at random.” “not completely once we have a fix on the time we can give you an estimate. I am afraid though we can not pin point it until the third time.” “isn’t there any way to just you can stop all of this?” “well yes but I don’t want to take those measures unless we have to I will in the mean time work on an enzyme that may stop it with out surgery.” “Thank you Julia but I just want to see Haji.” “I’ll go now.” She left and the others followed. Accept the twins who stayed behind. “Auntie Saya?” Hana asked pulling on her pants leg. “Auntie Saya are you mad at us?” she sat up to look at them. “why would I be mad at you?” “didn’t you say that you want to have babies with Haji san?” asked Hana “and that means that you are mad because we are not your babies” said Ayaka. “no, no, that’s not what I meant. I loved your father.” “then why dose no one talk about him?” she was shocked at what her little niece confessed. She stared I to her bright blue eyes. “would you like me to tell you about him?” “Hai Hai Auntie Saya.” they jumped up on the bed along side her excitedly. “we didn’t get along when I first woke up. but quickly we became inseparable. Haji came to me after a year I was startled when I first saw him. Though it was a comforting feeling. Riku even became very close to him before I had fully awakened. Though I didn’t want Kai and Riku to follow for it was dangerous I needed to be with them. We traveled for a while but then I found out that the people who I cared about the most were keeping things from me. I had no recollection of my past you see. I found out where I was born by a chevalier of diva’s and I was enraged that no one had told me not even Haji. But they were really trying to protect me. I came to the place where I was born and raised where I met Haji and released Diva. I found out more and more about my past but was interrupted but another one of diva’s chevalier who was a strong alli to us. The others had come looking for me and Riku got caught in the crossfire. He was almost killed by diva. I fought with her but she escaped I came back I time to save him or so some would say curse him. He became my second Chevalier. i was devastated at first that he would never grow older would never change. But Haji comforted me and told me that I was the same from when he was the one in Riku’s position. Riku woke and became completely dependent on my presence. But he did not really change. Kai was overwhelmed when Riku would not eat or sleep. Riku’s first blood was from Kai wanting to take care of his younger brother. We were warned that an attack would come upon the red shield hq and we went against his advise. Riku and Kai were trapped by Diva you were conceived and Riku was killed by Diva but his dieing wish was to protect me to keep me safe. In a way with out him knowing he is the reason why you two are here and happy why we can all live peacefully and though I love Riku I am glad that he saved Haji from death so that he can be with me. every time that I look in to your faces I see Riku smiling and I can not thank him enough for he was the one who truly ended the pain.” “ahh auntie Saya don’t cry what about that other chevalier the one that you like? Can’t you still have babies with him?” “He betrayed diva to be my chevalier. He wanted to be my bridegroom. But his death was my fault, like all the others. I could have physically but I did not love him. He was kind and he loved me he even fought Haji to have me to him self. He even went so far as to offer him self even if there was nothing in it for him, But he did not really know me. He did not understand how much I really love Haji. Haji understands me.” she said turning to the window where Haji stood. He carefully opened it and stepped inside. “Haji san!” the two chorused. “Now why are you telling my Fiancé to run off with a dead man?” “forgive him he never liked Solomon.” Haji sat beside her and put one hand on her knee. “you know that if you had let him he would have taken your children and made them lab rats.” “Haji that’s not nice. Solomon was not like that he was the one trying to stop all of that” “your right. I lied I would have killed him myself before he laid a finger on you.” “Haji if your going to say rude things about chevalier then talk about that creep amshel. I’m sure that he was even more messed up than the phantom of the opera singer karl.” “who’s amshel?” “some say that Joel was the one to blame for diva’s actions but it was amshel all along. The only reason he even suggested that diva was to be a research subject was so that he could keep her locked in that tower all to himself.” Haji paused and gripped her knee. “Saya was not told any of what really went on there. amshel was always leering at me in the corridors. he knew what I was there for and he hated me even more when I found out what he was messing around with. Time after time he sent the maids to provoke Me.” Saya put her arm around him. “trying to see if you could…” Haji nodded. “when Saya unlocked diva he was infuriated. I don’t thin I ever told you this but he told me that you were there waiting on me. Foolishly I believed him and that’s when diva killed or rather almost killed me. You turned me in to your Chevalier which made him even more insane after he found out the chiropteran queens can only conceive with another queen’s Chevalier. I’m not sure exactly when he became a chevalier but it was after I came. I remember maids complaining that he did not eat his meals soon after that the rebellious ones vanished. I will never forget the day that I was finally freed from my terror. You remember the first thing I did after I was freed? I freed you as well.” Her lips moved as she saw the image of him her sword in his overbearing stomach crystallizing and Haji’s words “Nankudonaisa, Anata-o aishite imasu, Saya.” His words turned that terrible monster in to their philosopher’s stone. No more did they have to equal their love and their mission. Now they were free to live for today and look forward to tomorrow Nankudunaisa only by the power of the philosopher’s stone.
