Hyoga yawned as he woke up. He grumbled a little bit as he walked into his bathroom and brushed his teeth before using the bathroom. “Nmm…” He was a little bit out of it. The previous night they had all been up late discussing lovers and the processes, along with other things. After dressing, which seemed like an eternity to Hyoga he was finally done getting ready and walked out, heading downstairs. Blinking a little bit, he saw Milo sitting on the couch with Camus, the pair of them were speaking in hushed voices, before they finally noticed him.
“Good morning Hyoga, hopefully you got some sleep.” Camus smiled at him getting up, and then looking at Milo who rose and went into the kitchen. “We need to talk for a bit. Milo’s gone to make breakfast.”
“So what exactly is going on?” Hyoga asked softly gazing at him. Camus brought out a package and handed to Hyoga. “What is this?”
“It’s your registry supplies, including the tracker to help you find your lover. Mind you, you aren’t done with your training yet, so the pair of you will be living here with me and Milo a while longer. Though that might be even better for your poor lover, the boy is likely to be terrified when you find him. I want you to be gentle with him.” Camus said looking at Hyoga very seriously as the other began to open and sort through his paperwork and pulled out the tracker and turning it on, there was a little blip on the screen showing where Shun was.
“I know Camus… I don’t want to hurt him.” Hyoga smiled getting up and hugging his teacher, who returned it with a chuckle. “I’m glad that you let me go ahead and register, though I don’t know how I’ll manage it on my own.”
“You won’t be alone. I got a phone call from Dohko this morning, Shiryu was also approved, and we’ve decided that you two will go together while trying to find your Lovers.” Camus explained hugging Hyoga who sat down next to him, as Milo returned with their breakfast, as smile on his face before hugging Hyoga tightly.
“Its hard to believe you’re all grown up, and in a few months you won’t even be living with us anymore.” Milo said hugging him even more tightly, getting an odd noise from Hyoga. “Sorry, I’m just going to miss you.” He laughed a little sitting down with his food and leaning against Camus. “Promise us you’ll be safe when you go running off with Shiryu, and no dangerous stunts. Oh and be nice to your Lover when you find him.”
Hyoga laughed a little bit. “You two act like I’m a monster or something.” He teased waving his fork in Milo’s direction. “I’m planning on getting him home with me to keep him safe from the world out there. No telling how much he’s already been hurt by people.”
“Need I remind you, it said he has a brother who is a fighter? His brother may be fighting to keep him safe, so you’ll have to be careful of that as well.” Camus pointed out as they finished up. “Now go pack, I’m going to call Dohko and tell him that you were approved and Shiryu has a partner for the search.”
Hyoga nodded and hugged Camus again and then hugged Milo before running up the steps and starting to pack his things up. He glanced at the tracker again, seeing that Shun was seeming to stay put. It seemed like the boy was probably sleeping at the moment, because he was situated where there was an inn. He just hopped no one had hurt his precious Shun. “Don’t worry; soon you’ll be home safe with me.” He put the tracker in his pocket.
There was a knock on the door as he came down. Milo walked over and handed him a big brown paper bag filled with food and some bottles of water. “Food for the road, you never know how long this kind of thing will take, especially if the boy is resourceful.”
“Thanks Milo, you’re the best.” Hyoga hugged him with one arm and carried the bag out as he met Shiryu, before loading his things in the trunk. “Milo made us food, you get anything from Shion?” Shiryu nodded gesturing to some grocery bags in the back seat as they climbed into the car and Shiryu began driving. “So where is Seiya located exactly?” He looked down at his tracker, they were headed straight for the inn where Shun was.
“One of the little inns, you know the one that’s right off the college campus?” Shiryu replied as they pulled into the parking lot and he brought his out. “Why do you ask?”
“Look,” He held up his and it was blipping for the same spot. “Do you think they’re together?” He asked a slight confused look crossing his face as he looked up. “Let’s go ask around inside.” Hyoga pulled his jacket on and started to walk towards the entrance along with Shiryu.
“Woah! Hey!” Shiryu jumped out of the way as three people came running out, then he realized two of them were the lovers they were looking for. “Stop!” He called out running after them after a moment of surprise seeing that Shun and Seiya were together. It was long enough for the car they’d gotten into the speed out of the lot. He and Hyoga quickly got back into the car. “Give me directions Hyoga!” Shiryu called as he sped after them.
“We missed them; they turned back there onto some side road.” Hyoga replied as they turned in somewhere and turned around quickly and turned down the road Ikki had sped down. “It looks like they’re heading into the middle of nowhere. We’ll just have to try and keep up, in the mean time what should we do?” He looked at Shiryu who shrugged a bit.
“Uh why don’t you call Camus, tell him what happened, and then do something with your time. We’ll switch later on today.” Shiryu replied as they drove along, keeping up fairly well with Ikki and them.
“Hey, Hyoga, what’s going on? Catch them already?” Camus laughed softly as he sat there on the phone, Milo looked at him, and they were cuddled up on the couch.
“Not yet, they’re running from us. It seems that both Seiya, the one Shiryu is after, and my little Shun are on the run together.” Hyoga explained with a sigh, running a hand through his hair as he watched Shiryu driving. “Left here.” He said, also watching the trackers as they drove along.
“Do watch out, if they get somewhere with lead lining or something then the tracking signal would be blocked.” Camus replied as he pulled Milo in closer, and had to stifle a groan as he felt his lover’s warm lips on his neck. “Milo, wait till I’m off the phone with Hyoga please.” He chuckled kissing the other briefly and Milo nodded a little bit.
“Milo demanding attention again?” Hyoga laughed softly leaning back into the seat. He was happy to stay on the phone for a little while with the other two. “Tell him I say hello.”
“He says Hi.” Camus chuckled looking at Milo who was still pouting at him over the whole thing.
“HI HYOGA!” Milo called into the phone, he was pretty sure that he could hear the laughter of Hyoga on the other end of the phone. “GET OFF THE PHONE SO I CAN HAVE CAMUS BACK.”
“I think that’s my cue to go Camus.” Hyoga said softly as they said their goodbyes and he hung up the phone with a smile. It wasn’t until the tracker stopped moving did the pair of them pull over. Hyoga was genuinely glad that Milo and Shion had packed the pair of them food and drinks. They still had enough gas to keep going for a while, being that they had a newer model car than the older beat up car that was what the lover’s had made their getaway in.
It had been right as they pulled in that the three boys had taken off again, though they’d seen the blue haired man much more clearly this time, and he definitely fit how Shun’s brother had been described in the paperwork. “So it seems like we’re going to have big brother to deal with. We might as well get gas while we’re here.”
Hyoga got out as well. “I’m going to use the bathroom really quick, also I’ll ask to see if they said anything about where they’re going.” He walked towards the small shop and went in. Walking over to the counter Hyoga looked at the shop keeper who looked confused. “Did those boys say anything about where they were going?”
“No, they were just talking about snacks. Something about needing to hurry. Something important?” He asked looking up from the magazine that was in his lap. Hyoga shook his head a little bit as he stretched.
“They’re lovers on the run. I’m going to assume they paid in cash?” The man nodded and Hyoga sighed a little bit. “That makes it more difficult. Thank you for your help.” Hyoga walked out shaking his head. “Nothing of interest. They bought snacks though; everything was paid for in cash. This means we can’t trace them using that, should the tracking device fail.”
Shiryu nodded as he got in the passenger seat, deciding to let Hyoga drive for a while. He leaned back into the seat and dozed off as Hyoga drove, following the tracker. “Damn he’s driving fast.” Hyoga mumbled as he sped up to gain ground and keep pace with Ikki. He was enjoying going this fast, he glanced for a split second to see Shiryu asleep and chuckled shaking his head. It was a couple of hours later when Shiryu woke back up.
Sitting up the dark haired man grabbed a bottle of water and began to sip on it. “So anything of interest?” Shiryu asked as they sped along passing fields of crops and the occasional ranch with horses or cows.
“No, not really. Still keeping pace, though it seems like they’re getting ready to stop at the town coming up. Check it on your phone will you?” Shiryu nodded getting it out as Hyoga kept driving.
“It’s a small lakeside down called Pendleton, real small. Mostly a vacation home town, but this is the off season so it’ll only be a few locals I guess.” Shiryu chuckled as they drove together. “Maybe one of their families has a lake home?”
“Or maybe they needed to make a stop for the night or have dinner?” Hyoga pointed out as they drove along. He doubted the lovers and accomplice would have been prepared, and the food from the gas station would be all they’d eaten since breakfast, unless his guess was wrong.
“Maybe it’s both.” Shiryu replied with a shrug. “I know Seiya’s family doesn’t have anything to do with the town, so if anything it would have to be your little lover’s family.” He shrugged watching the scenery roll by as they eventually pulled into town. After a little while they pulled into a small restaurant.
“What do you say we give them a few minutes to at least get some food in them? Dohko has more accesses than Camus. Give him a call, and see if he can find any connections between Shun’s family and the town.” Hyoga said and Shiryu nodded in agreement as he called his mentor.
“Hey, we’ve been chasing them all day. Do you know anything about connections between Shun’s family and the town of Pendleton?” Shiryu asked as he was greeted by Dohko on the phone.
“I’ll check, just give me a moment. Also if you two need a place to stay an old friend of mine, who’s a rather prominent Fighter named Asmita and his apprentice Shaka live in the area.” Dohko replied as he sat at the main desktop in the house. He began to look through different records before adding. “Yeah, Shun’s family has a lake house and a decent chunk of land out there. It doesn’t have an exact location because it hasn’t been used since the boy’s parents died in the Lover’s Day Rebellion.”
“Alright thanks, that’s probably where they’re heading. Also if you could let them know we’ll be coming. We’re going to go and try to get them again, along with the brother.” Shiryu replied about to hang up.
“If the brother gives you two a lot of trouble and refuses to cooperate you could always threaten the right of rebellion.” Dohko didn’t want to mention this before, but it seemed like Shun’s brother would be causing them a lot of trouble, and that would probably get him out of the way. “It hasn’t been used since the Lover’s Day rebellion, but if he refuses steadfastly you can threaten, and if it comes to it, use the right of rebellion to get him into line. You must always remember you work for the good of the government.”
“I understand Roshi, now we have to go. Shun’s family has an old lake house here.” Shiryu hung up and got out of the car, the sky was darkening now as they walked into the restaurant. As they approached they saw Shun and Seiya round a corner, taking off. Only Shun’s brother stood in the way. “Where are they going?”
“Nowhere are you going to be able to get to them.” Ikki replied looking ready to start a fight with them. The older male was well built, both Hyoga and Shiryu could see that, but both also knew that their special training gave them an edge.
“You’ll tell us where they are. You’re disturbing the order of things by harboring a registered and run away Lover. Now unless you wish us to invoke the right of re-“ Shiryu was cut off as Ikki lunged at him and the pair of them crashed into a nearby table. The small restaurant was nearly empty and that was a blessing Hyoga quickly realized, otherwise civilians could have been injured.
“You’ll get my baby brother over my dead body!” Ikki growled as he and Shiryu tussled on the floor. Something between a cry and a yelp escaped Ikki as Hyoga’s fist connected with Ikki’s side, standing up; he winced and had no time to react as a blast of pure cold sent him flying into the wall. “What are you?”
Shiryu was back on his feet and he lunged at Ikki. “Rozan Shoryu ha!” He growled his fist connecting with Ikki’s stomach, he moved as the other fell, slamming his elbow down into Ikki’s head knocking the man out. “Let’s go to Asmita’s. He’s a contact Roshi knows so we can stay there with him and his apprentice.”
“Maybe they can help us get some answers about this guy, if that house is as old as I’d think it probably is, there’s most likely lead paint, meaning as long as the boys stay in there, we won’t be able to find them.” Hyoga pointed out looking at Shiryu who nodded a bit. “Camus mentioned to me earlier that lead would block the signal.”
“Right, we’ll let’s get going.” The pair of them teamed up to carry him out, and put Ikki in the back seat as Shiryu’s phone went off. “Hello Roshi.”
“Hey, did you get them?” Dohko asked with a chuckle. Asmita seemed a little reluctant at first to have company; the man had always been reclusive, aside from the company of his faithful student Shaka.
“No, but we caught Hyoga’s lover’s brother.” Shiryu replied as he saw a frown forming on Hyoga’s face. “What is it?”
“Tracking information disappeared.” He replied softly looking at Shiryu with a frown.
“Well, we do have his brother. We can get the information we need from him I think.” Shiryu replied before adding on the phone. “We’re going to keep trying, the man tried to fight us, and that ended up with him out cold. What are we going to do about this?”
“Normally something like this would warrant the Right of Rebellion being used on him. Especially standing up to people of our status and denying them their Lover. To be honest, it will be really suspicious if you all don’t.” Dohko sighed running a hand through his hair. “I know neither you nor Hyoga want to do something like that, but it’s necessary for them not to question you.”
“I understand, we’ll use it and maybe get some advice from Asmita and Shaka on the situation. Does Shaka have a Lover?” Shiryu asked, curious to find out more about the people they were staying with.
“No, but I know he was planning on looking for one once his training was finished. I think he was also a lot more interested in someone less delicate.” Dohko laughed as spoke. “Now then I sent you the directions, so get going.” Shiryu nodded as he said his goodbyes and hung up before turning on his gps and starting to head towards Asmita’s home.
