Part 3:
That Is Your Fate…
—————
Ba-Ba-Ba-bum. Ba-Ba-Ba-bum. Ba-Ba-Ba-bum.
Celebi’s hearts pounded as she flew at breakneck speeds past the trees in that surround her. The forest guardian was afraid for her life for the first time, as far as she could recall anyway. She never expected the night to go south so quickly. Even after everything they all had been through, the trouble she had went through, she never thought she would be hunted down like a pest.
“Really,” Celebi asked, to the forest more than herself, “is all this really a proper reaction?”
The silence in the night answered her question in a way only she could understand.
There was only one real answer. No one, perhaps not even Lord Dialga could possibly judge her actions apart from herself. To have strung people along the way she did, to control and manipulate the outcome events and alter people’s lives, she knew deep down what that made her; A monster. She had felt right doing what she did, at least in her hearts. She tried to fix something she had broken. She didn’t take into account the things that she broke in the process.
She did it all over again.
She chanced a glance behind her, seeing only the calm of the forest slipping away into darkness. Nestling next to a thick oak, Celebi let her lungs breathe and catch up to her.
“What is this? Why am I so afraid of a mundane? What risk is she? This is ridiculous,” she told the air around her. “I bet Lord Dialga’s laughing with his brothers right now.”
A chill in the air came and tingled the top of her head, sending shivers down her spine, granting her a split second chance to leap forward to avoid the large icicle crashing into the ground next to the tree’s trunk.
Her attacker, Rikalia, landed atop the icy pillar, murder in her eyes. Her clawed arms were spread wide as she crouched low; ready to pounce on her prey. The Weavile’s crown of feathers was swept back, her feathered ears framing the red with blue. With her teeth bared in a snarl, she kicked off from her perch, lunging at Celebi.
Acting fast, Celebi casted out a few walls of Reflect between them, hard psychic barriers capable of stopping any physical object. Rikalia hit the barriers hard, her sharp claws struck the translucent surface, lodging themselves in deep. Celebi struggled to keep them from failing, bearing the strength of the Weavile that tried to tear them apart.
“Please, stop this!” Celebi pleaded. “This won’t change anything!”
“It’ll change enough,” Rikalia said, her voice quivering. Tears lined her eyes, her breathing was heavy and hard. She brought her claws together and began ripping a hole in the reflective screens in front of her. “You won’t be able to ruin the lives of everyone you meet anymore!”
A whirlwind of black energy formed in the Weavile’s mouth, blasting through hole she had dug in Celebi’s walls, shattering the remnants.
In the aftermath of the Dark Pulse, Rikalia stood alone in the woods, panting and seething with rage. Her prey nowhere to be seen.
“I hate you!” Rikalia screamed up into the night.
High above the top of the trees, Celebi floated safely, staring down with a somber expression.
“I know…” she said quietly. “I think I do too…”
Out of the corner of her eye, Celebi spotted a red glint in the night sky. Far, far away, a shooting star was falling to Earth. The more she stared at it however, the more fearful of the thing she became. A presence resided in that red light. An ancient and fierce—
[Rage.]
Catching Celebi off-guard, the red light sped past her with blinding speed. It was never very far away, it was just very small. It flew down into the trees and was lost to her.
“That was…” Celebi thought hard, trying to recall what she had just seen. “But that’s not supposed to happen for… Damn it all, what’s the date right now? Why can’t I remember the order of these things?”
A bright explosion of crimson light shone below her before she could reconcile her failing memory. A terrible cry rang up from the forest below and slowly the red light began to fade. Celebi stared on, frozen in wonder. She wasn’t left asking silent questions for long.
“Don’t run from me!” Rikalia screamed as she flew up into the sky after her object of hate. A red ring now lay on her middle claw, burning aura surrounding her entire body, which now bore a sigil of pure hate; the horns of anger and pain. Lines of fire burned from the mark up along her body and across her face. Her crown of feathers burned black by her own new power surging forth.
“It burns! Take it away!” the airborne Weavile shrieked as she swiped at Celebi with claws of glowing red energy.
[Kill. Hate. Rage]
“No!” Celebi dived, back into the woods, flying as quick as she found herself able. “That ring… It’s killed her…”
“Die!”
[Ruined Life. Puppet. Rage.]
Rikalia’s new speed surprised Celebi. A backhanded swat from the Weavile sent her reeling into the ground, lights dancing in her head for moments afterward.
“Please… Rika…” Wisps of Rikalia’s red energy clung to Celebi where she was struck, sapping her strength.
“Not! Allowed!” The Red Lantern yelled. She landed on the ground, slowly marching to her goal; her kill. “Not yours!”
“Rikalia…” Celebi backed away. “This anger, this blind rage? It’s that ring, don’t let it consume you. I’ve seen what it can do to anyone wielding one.”
“You… did this… to me…” Rikalia said, blood dripping from her fangs with every word. She gnashed her teeth, grimacing at the fiery energy that coursed through her. Boiling hot plasma now took the place of her blood, her heart stopped beating. The red ring burns on her clawed hand, sending fire into her veins and burning her from inside out. “It hurts. So much… You… must burn… with me…”
“That won’t help!” Celebi pleaded. Her psychic abilities seemed to be failing her. She found it impossible to fly. She was hopeless on foot against a foe that could fly, let alone Rikalia at her best without her new ring. “There’s only one thing we can do for you now, but you need to calm down. I can take you— You need to go to—”
“DIE!” Rikalia spewed forth a fountain of burning plasma from her mouth, vomiting in rage.
Celebi tried to leap away, but vortex of indigo energy swirled around her, warping her safely away from the wooded area.
The rage blood sailed on and burned a path fifteen feet in front of the new Red Lantern, razing trees and scorching the ground. Rikalia darted around the field of destruction she had caused, hunting for the body of her most infuriating target.
“Where?!” she hissed, tearing through trees with red claws of energy.
[Celebi. Rage.]
“No!”
[Gone. Rage.]
Rikalia’s red ring exploded, responding with her own anger. The blast cascaded for a hundred feet around her, ripples of anger burning anything in its path, leaving her in a scorched plot of land not likely to have anything grow on it ever again. She stared at her claws, eyes burning and glowing with anger, staring at her red ring. It sent a sharp pain like lightning through her, choking where she stood.

She collapsed where she stood, red aura flickering. The Weavile gasped for breath, clutching at her chest and her that would not beat.
[Power Levels Approaching 0%]
“No…” she whined, her eyes already dimming. She could hear it, now that she stopped moving. A beating coming not from her heart, but her new red ring.
Ba-bum… … … Ba-bum… … …
[Celebi. Iruni. Rage.]
“My my… what a pitiful state to find you in, Weavile Rikalia.”
“Get away!” She hadn’t noticed when Coralis had shown up, but she quickly found a new source of rage. Rikalia jumped to her feet, bearing her teeth, forming constructs of ice and red energy in her paws, but quickly fell back down to the ground. Her strength was failing. Her ring wouldn’t keep quiet about it.

“Listen, Rikalia. Hear the beautiful voice in your head? The song of righteous anger?”
Rikalia looked up and saw Coralis in full; he bore the same mark as her. A circle bordered by lines, twisting out and back up. It burned and looked amazing. Another like her. Someone to share in this intense rage. Bloodbrother.
“We are bonded now,” Coralis said, raising his right hand and showing his own ring. “The ring tells me things, tells me we are united; in our anger.” His long raven hair fell way, his dull, gray eye was replaced now with fire that did not burn him, but drove him. Raising his left hand, Coralis showed off his intent. “This, dear sister, is your salvation.”
He placed the Red Lantern power battery in front of Rikalia, letting her spend the last few moments of her life gazing into its glorious ruby visage.
“Death is unnecessary, Weavile Rikalia. Not yet, not now. You can fight, for your life and love. And Rage,” Coralis said, smiling.
Moved by an instinct she was unfamiliar with, Rikalia crawled up to the lantern, wrapping both arms around it. She hugged it, like a child would a mother.
“Look deep, down into yourself,” said Coralis. “Past your failed heart. Speak what comes forth.”
Rikalia shivered, pressing her ring against the face of the lantern.
“With blood and… rage… of crimson red…”
