Chapter 4: Power ovewhelming

"Not here. But I'll take something. Didn't ate anything for two days," said quietly younger Raven ordering takeaway.

"So tell me it," urged older Raven when they started walk again.

"My firstborn. These uncontrollable transformations after what I saw cease to be strange. You know the different types of souls used with take over magic, right?"

"I suspected that this might be the case. So nothing we should be worried, right? Although it's puzzling why he has the ability to use this magic at such a young age. Typically mages need to reach the right age to even start to learn it," mused Bruce.

"I think the answer may be surprising. Tell me father, which kinds of magic according to the legends wielded Adam?" almost casually asked Lionel.

"Adam? Hmm. Ice slayer magic, take over magic with dragon soul, titan magic and one or two more that I can't recall now," recitated from the memory older men.

"Like all of our family your grandson had already show signs of slayer magic but take over magic with dragon's soul and titan magic probably doesn't belong to our heritage," navy blue-haired man looked up at the sky.

"It is certain information?"

"Yes, with my own eyes I saw his dragon form and having a size that he shouldn't reach at least in next fifteen to twenty years. We should try as soon as possible try to ask Koriana for advice on how to handle that if she answer at all," he said quite seriously.

"And I expect we would have serious conversation, son, " Bruce voice was extremely serious. "And this time, tell me WHO is really the real mother of Arik and Koriko. Since from it now depends their future. Cause that you could be involved in breeding monsters no less dangerous than Adam leaving no doubt."

"Ehhh I was afraid that this day would come sooner or later," younger Raven tried to turn the situation into a joke.

" Hmmm . Never suspected that you will be so cunning to use him to escape, " said Rigantona when Ultear finished another part of the story.

"I didn't used him but the opportunity which appeared," she said quite calmly. "So we're back to learning?"

"Yes," replied shortly dragoness and started another lesson.

Two days later at the end of another long and full of all sorts of lessons day blew cool air inside. Dragoness looked in the direction where there was a path leading out feeling standing on the threshold of the cave quest who didn't even have to mark it presence by filling cave with cold air.

"Are you going somewhere?" Ultear asked.

"For the moment. Stay here," said dragoness slowly walking away toward the exit.

"So Koriana not bother to show up personally?" she looked with superiority at the woman standing in front of the entrance which seems to not have more than thirty years.

"You shouldn't pay too much attention to the look. It can be misleading," said quietly Korimi, looking beyond dragoness.

"Are you looking for someone?" Rigantona looked behind not noticing the time mage nowhere near.

"I've heard that you babysit some kid. Didn't wanted to scare her. Though actually I have to take her for a bit. Got something against it?" blue-eyed woman looked up.

"Maybe that I didn't want to let her go," gravely replied dragoness.

“Oh well. 'He' is flying this direction or at least, will fly over your cave if he keep the direction he picked the last 'subjugation' attempt,” woman turned and looked at the sky.

"Wait a minute," said after a long moment of thought dragoness and disappeared in a cave.

"For some time we interrupt learning," said to time mage Rigantona.

"Why?" asked Ultear still following dragoness on way outside.

"Ask her about that," she answered when they reached outside pointing toward standing in front of the cave person. "Don't worry when you get back I'll come out," she said before turning back and disappearing into the cave.

"So what so important happened that I had to interrupt learning?" she asked hiding rage standing in front of her woman.

"You don't look in any way special," said Korimi slowly walking around purple-haired woman and watching her. "I thought you'd be someone more special."

Ultear when she was 'watched' looked at the other woman. Long almost touching the ground blue hair, the same color of eyes, a fairly attractive figure with almost perfect hourglass figure and very long legs. In short almost a textbook example of the of beauty ideal. "What?"

"Firstly, you should ask not what but who. And I had greater expectations of a young lady called Ultear, about which I heard some," she said quite calmly.

"So who caused that you interrupting my learing?"

"Your friend if I'm informed," she started slowly to go ahead. "More specifically Arik Raven. I assume you have such."

She almost immediately caught up with her. "What did he done?" She asked trying to sound casual. Looking at Korimi noticed several similarities between her and said ice slayer. " And who are you?"

"Korimi," for a moment hesistated before corrected herself, " Korimi Raven. And your friend unfortunately temporarily stuck in the form of giant dragon. Last attempt to explain him how unwise it is running around in this form ended in failure."

"Huge dragon," she mused.

"You didn't see him long ago in his dragon form, right?"

"No, it was a long time ago. So why am I needed?" she stopped and waited for a response.

"Perhaps we made the mistake assuming that Kanna herself this time she could bring him to normal. So this time you both have to try together do it," Korimi not slowed the pace going ahead from time to time looking out at the sky.

"Working together with Kanna?" Ultear was not thrilled over the prospect of seeing the golden-haired slayer. They didn't have much ocassions to meet in the past but she always had impression that Yagyu seemed to always watch Milkovich. An hour later their met said golden-haired beauty who seemed to be in not good mood.

"He it's far," said Kanna after greeting.

"Then explain her plan and I disappear for a while to not disturb you two in the concentration or whatever you'll do," said Korimi and she started to walk away.

"What shall we do?" she asked when from distance reached them reflected like an echo roar.

"Little time we have," joked golden-haired mage and grabbed the other woman 's head.

"What,"she doesn't finished when the world began to change around like in a kaleidoscope.

When both was standing in the distance appeared a giant blue-scaled dragon. Slowly lowering his flight landed near them when from the side fell on him another one looking almost identical.

When everything calmed down, both were in a building. Long corridors and many doors leading to different rooms. Kanna without word lead Ultear to some door marked 008. Then again without a word, she opened and inside was Arik having appearance, which time mage remembered from her childhood. Leaving her standing in the doorway ice slayer came closer to him and she started to say something to him what he just started to tug more.

"Mother," was reaching purple-haired woman word repeated like a mantra. 'Mother. Long ago he couldn't control himself when someone mentioned her but he has overcome it then.'

When she was pondering over this with unexpected swung of his paw he suddenly threw against near wall Kanna and it started to get colder and colder around him.

"He doing it again," cursed Yagyu standing up and brushing off her white fluff. "Every time I try to speak to him reasonable self reacts only his primitive animal self."

"Unless I... ," said Ultear and guided by a hunch moved toward him. He tried to chase her away but she was keep on avoiding swungs of his paws and not paying attention to the prevailing cold approached and keep on whispering. "What about the promise that you will become stronger. That nothing will be able to kill you now?"

"Stronger than death," he repeated these words several times when around him appeared a blizzard, which forced both of them to step back.

"Did your words reached him?" Kanna looked at the brown eyed woman. In the meantime, in a room raging snow blizzard slowly was steady getting stronger until even the walls around started to crack and pieces of them were drawn into the vortex.

"We must escape," orange eyed woman grabbed other one trying to pull her away.

"Why?" time mage was resisting while around them new parts of walls was crumbling and adding to swirling shards of ice around him.

"Look," she pointed out one of the holes in the wall. Behind it was just... emptiness. Formless nothingness extending as long her eyes could reach.

"We're still in his mind, specifically in the part that was formed after the change. Now this part is unnecessary and is falling apart. I don't want to see what happens when this place fall apart with me or you in it," hearing that Ultear stopped struggling and the two started to stick glide through nothingness toward the exit.

The other dragon let go first when around his started to form blizzard, which started to change into steady tightening around him swirling vortex of air with mixed in it shards of ice. Landing in front of a couple unconscious women lying near her shielded them with her wings before flying around shards of ice.

'I wonder how the more powerful you become today?' she mused looking as the vortex velocity was increasing when at the same time even his own form of giant dragon seemed starting to crumble. Shards of ice and crumbling mold parts swirled progressively tighter and tighter. Energy magic flowed from all sides condensing around located in the eye of the storm humanoid form.

"It is done," the dragon breathed a sigh of relief when with a brief flash all the swirling debris literally vanished. She gently took two women, blue-haired man and then flew into the air with them. She left purple-haired before the entrance to the cave of darkness dragoness, golden hair in the nearby little town and men carried to secluded place where he could rest without being disturbed by anyone even a few days.

"Again he became stronger. And this human mage turned out to be interesting creature after all," said the younger dragoness sitting in front of the other much older one.

"Yes. My goal is getting closer," said Koriana with pleasure looking at lying nearby on the ice surface Raven. "Someone also needs to remind him that he procratinate with procreating offspring. Among females interested in him there is one perfectly fitting for that."

"Did you forgetting the fact that only the strongest male should breed next generation?" almost as if she wanted to scold her said second dragon. "Such male wasn't picked yet so breeded now offspring could become useless soon."

"It doesn't matter. Because I know which one of them is the strongest one," Koriana again noticed a strange look form the other one dragoness. "Right I had waited for so long anyway. Ten years earlier or later is nothing."

Far from the two dragoness in the depths of a cave hidden in the slope unremarkable from other mountains Rigantona just casually said. "You're back."

"Yes. Let get back to training," said Ultear maintaining peace after the recent incident.

"The next part of the story if you can," sounding as if it was quite coincidental said darkness dragoness.

"When I finally finish it would you tell me why I almost understand?"

"Becoming slayer you would be able alone discover answers to what is still bothering you. You seen already how inhuman he can became or maybe you just thought so and there is some second bottom in it. And now .. " she laid in a comfortable position to listen.

Time mage didn't answered nothing just waiting a few moments she began to talk.

Finally Ultear reached located in forest home where she lived with her mother earlier. Hidden behind a tree saw Ur playing with two small boys and she looked happy.

'My mother left me and took other children,' she fell to the ground and began to cry. 'I shall never forgive you.'

She wiped her tears and decided to return. On the way back Ultear encountered a pair of squabbling teenagers. Hiding in the bushes, waiting until they go away allowing her to continue traveling back and waiting listened to their arguments.

The boy was clearly angry at his friend for something she has done before. She tried different ways to explain and to defuse the situation. However, he still seemed to be deaf to everything she said.

'Something bad...,' for a moment her thoughts wandered toward the escape and the person who unwittingly helped her escape. Brushing aside these thoughts went back to listening to two teenagers.

She was keep talking as before but he ignored her so she did something else. Ultear seeing this for a moment widened her eyes but then quickly turned them away. The quarrel ended almost immediately and they began to speak only from time to time without using raised voices and a much nicer words. After another five minutes, they both slowly walked away leaving Ultear hidden alone in the bush, which looked after them last time before walking her own direction.

'Strange,' she mused while walking over the thing that done girl causing both teenagers stopping to argue. After returning first she was thrown into the room, which was all shrouded in the dark. Indefinite time later came into it a man of medium height.

"You come back then," he said jabbing her with end of stick and through her body went electric shock on what she responded only with suppressed groan.

"We missed you," pretending to be talking with concerned tone struck her again while holding the tip of a much longer until she let out a loud cry.

"I hope that you won't leave us," once again her body moved involuntarily under the flow of electricity.

"We're so nice to you," this time he just hit her with huge force with a tip.

"We make sure you don't die due to starvation or other causes," kicked her knocking on the floor.

"And how you repay us," another kick on what she just reacted curling.

"Think about it," at the end he struck her again so strong that she wept. After this went out and closed the door so that Ultear was alone in the dark. Almost. After the closed door somewhere from another corner reached her sound, which calmed and frightened her at the same time. Low throat growl reminiscent of the sound of the wild beasts. Only one person she met here could let out such sound but still she wanted to be sure.

"Arik?" unsteadily managed to mumble. The answer never came and she was still in the dark. The silence from time to time was disturbed by low throaty growl. When she felt a gust of cold that came to her corner was almost certain who was in the other corner.

'Is he bad at me?' she mused still lying curled up. The remnants of pain after kicks and paralysis was still lingering in her. When she finally been able to move slowly crawled toward where cool air flowed in, stumbling on something cold. Touching lying thing recognized in it a quite thick chain. Continuing crawling stopped feeling cold to the touch scales on lying tail.

Feeling her feel slightly pulled back tail and gave a short growl. Moment their brought her to the room where he stayed for a long time recognized the scent but couldn't say even one word only since from time to time murmuring. And now she even moved closer to him. Why?

Hearing chains slightly rattled for a moment she sat before slowly turning back and crawling back to her corner. Sitting she was thinking when involuntarily returned memories of metting a young couple.

'Why I was recalled this now?' somewhat strangely felt at the memory how the other two ended their argument. 'It's not like I did something to him.'

The next day door opened and inside stepped a couple of men. Unhooked and then it unwrap chains that bound him and grabbing on both sides began to pull together. For a moment when their drag him through the entrance she looked at him. Two days later their came for her and dragged her to the old room. Half an hour later they came and without a word took on a series of painful tests. After they took her and threw into room as if she was some object closing doors behind. Eating food from a bowl involuntarily she looked in the direction of the passage.

"I wonder if he's still there?" she muttered and after finishing hesitantly walked over to the wall. Toys lay still scattered. Hesistated for a moment... and went back to bed. The next day subjected her to another painful tests and throw into the room afterward.

Slowly stripped her panel and peered into the next room. Hardly anything has changed there. Hole in the wall was already patched and the remains of another wall seperating earlier two adjacent rooms were removed. She saw him lying on the bed at the opposite wall, with hanging down to the floor tail and one arm. Without tripping over cluttering up various items on the floor walked at hand reach from him. Arik slowly raised his head and looked at her.

"Leave me alone," he said and turned his head in the other direction. Ultear stood for a long moment before she turned and went back to her room.

"I didn't do anything wrong," she repeated several times, again remembering the overheard argument. "Or maybe?" she mused while sitting leaning against the wall.

The next few day she wasn't resisting before further tests and started to use them to increase her magical potential. She had to get out of here but this time alone when her power would be sufficient. She visited him every day but he always either ignored her presence or in a few words telling to leave him alone.

"No," said Ultear and climb on the bed where he laying. Once again he had appearance of a little boy so she sat down next to him.

"What?" he muttered and turned toward her. "I told you I want to be alone."

"But I don't wanna," she said and acting like a girl she had seen several days ago cuddle up to him. He tried to move, release from her arms but she didn't give up and was still holding up. He sighed slightly and stop trying to get free.

"Why?" he only muttered.

"Sorry," she replied still sniffing out pondering if she should do the second thing she saw.

"For what?"

"Because of me you probably suffered when I ran. And the fact that I mentioned about our mothers," on the last word she felt him slightly flinched so for a moment went silent. Making sure that he don't begining to change she put her head on his shoulder. "Want to see your father?"

After a long pause he replied. "Yes."

"I want to escape again," she said slowly.

"And again you'll use me for this?" he asked coldly.

"No. First I will become strong enough to do it on my own. But," for a moment hesitated, "I want to escape together."

"Why me?"

For a moment, sniffing on what she should do.

"Gain control over your changes before we run away," she leaned over and kissed him on the cheek. Blushing quickly jumped down and ran to the passage.

"Gain control? Escape?" he touched his cheek. The way she hold her arms around him and then kiss made him feel strange. What after the escape? Would he return to his father? The rest of the day he spent thinking about the outside world. Few days earlier for a moment he saw it when he made a hole in one of the walls. Unfortunately then their caught up to him and began to brutally beat and raze with electro shocks trying to pacify him.

The next day, when he heard that their had brought her waited a moment and knocked on the panel. He patiently waited as she opened.

"Do you want to eat together?" he asked pointing to his bowl. For a moment she thought before taking her bowl and squeezed through the passage. They ate in silence and then when she leaned against him, he wrap his arm around her.

"Would you really want to run away together?" he asked uncertainly.

"Yes. But only with you," she said quietly.

"I would master transformation to not hurt anyone by accident," he said and then he heard somewhere in the distance approaching footsteps. "You have to go back."

"Already?" she looked at him surprised.

"Yes. Please go already. I'll see you tomorrow," he said in a low voice and stood up then took her bowl. Walking to hole in wall pass it through and looked in her direction.

"What 's going on?" she asked but he didn't answered, still standing and staring at her. Once she was in her room covered passage. Literally a moment later the door opened and a tall man stood in it, looked around and then went on.

"How did you know?" she asked when a few minutes later get near the passage and moving the panel looked through the hole.

"It doesn't matter. At least their didn't find you at my room," he said blushing slightly.

She hestitate whether say something else but in the end she only covered hole and lay down on her bed. The next few months both spend on preparations. Ultear patiently endured more and more painful experiments that more and more increased her magical potential. Experiments on Ariku had a smaller effect of increasing his magical power, because as their noted he had it already enormous and was somewhat afraid of the consequences when it reaches too high level. Also he almost entirely ceased to have episodes of spontaneous transformation.

In the evenings their always eat the food together. Sometimes one of them comfort other one when it was starting to lose determination or simply was feeling bad. And it always ends with her leaning against him and him hugging her with his arm.

"How's doing our metamorph? Already stopped changing or just thinking that he mastered this ability?" Brain asked taking a sip from a cup.

"It seems that in some way he began to control transformations," said the tall man.

"You managed to study reasons and factors causing these changes?"

"Not yet. So what we should do with him?" asked mad sitting opposite to his conversation partner.

"Only experiments causing increase of magical potential. He probably gotten used to the current level," said quietly Brain.

"But this carries the risk of unforeseen complications," noted technician.

"So make sure that will be group ready to quickly pacify him. Remember that sometimes development of magic requires taking risks," said the boss and then left the room.

'Quite unfortunate that you started to gain control over changes Arik Raven,' he thought looking at a sheet with information about the said child. 'But it doesn't matter. I have an emergency plan to end the case,' he smiled devilishly looking at the other page describing Ultear case. 'Any of you sooner or later would lose control and then the situation will resolve itself.'

The next few days passed quietly, although every day both were subjected to incredibly painful and exhausting experiments. Approaching beginning of the third week Brain prediction fulfilled itself. Penetrating chill filled the building freezing completely every part of construction causing it become extremely fragile and susceptible to damage. Several minutes later an explosion rocked the building, which buried inside all present except two figures standing in front of dilapidated building.

"Seems we managed to escape just in time," said Brain looked at him standing next to him little girl. Then departed, leaving Ultear standing still in front of a pile of rubble, steel and other debris staring with half-conscious gaze ahead.

"Arik. You promised that they both go away from here," she said under her breath. In response, the time portion of rubble moved, lifted and then crumbled, revealing standing figure of a winged reptile having maybe three feet heigh max. He slowly came out pile remains of the building and walked towards Ultear gradually shrinking.

"And I fullfilled promise. I became strong enough that even collapsing all over me didn't manage to kill me," he smiled. For a moment she stood before him before lunged toward him and to his surprise, she kissed him on the lips.

"What now?" she asked stepping back a few steps and looking away to hide the blush.

"I'll wait for my father," Arik said looking out into the distance. When he climbed out of the rubble gentle breeze brought a familiar scent. However, he was surprised at what she did... but it was so nice so just slightly smiled. "And you?"

"Me?" she looked back at him. "I don't know yet."

"If the father will not have anything against you for some time you can stay with us. And then," he hesitated for a moment, "then we'll see."

She walked over to him and hugged again grateful that she isn't alone. Several minutes later approached them man with navy blue hair.

"I'm glad you're all right," Lionel began and looked at the little girl clinging to his son. "Do I know you young lady?"

"Ultear," she presented herself shortly.

"Father could she stay with us a little bit before she go back to her family?" Arik looked imploringly at his parent.

"I'll think about it. And I think you are too young for 'this'," he emphasized the last word.

"For what?" asked him his son when he started to go.

"It doesn't matter. I'll tell when you grown up a little," he said seeing as both children walked side by side behind him.

"So you also met his father," said Rigantona preparing for the next part of teaching magic.

"You could say that," said Ultear.

" A few more parts of the story and it turns out that you meet all of his living relatives," joked dragoness.

"I guess you could say so. Several weeks ago I was at a party where gathered all Arik siblings, his father and grandfather," said quietly mage time.

Rigantona not continuating conversation started learning. The next days passed quietly though Ultear didn't feel that sha was making progress. At least dragoness still didn't taught her any spells repeating that it will come after learning the basics of magic. And that without proper mastery of that subsequent learnt spells aren't worth much even as she learns them right now.

"Lack of progress?" asked slightly impatient time mage interlocutor.

"Still making me do sometimes strange things but for now not wanna to learn any spells from slayer magic," she said staring bored in floating before her lacrima. "And how ongoing searching?"

"We already have estimated the area that we definitely should search more carefully. Few weeks at most before we go there. Use this time well," said the interlocutor.

"I'll try to speed up as possible but she's quite troublesome teacher and with strange habits," said purple-haired woman.

"You came to me with the idea to locate a dragon to learn slayer magic several weeks ago. Thought it to be unnecessary but you were very determined. Could this determination just ended?" he asked her.

"No. I'll learn at least the basics before going for search," quickly replied and then said goodbye. When he returned to the cave continued to study for the next couple of weeks when come time she had to leave her teacher.

"So you given up?" asked directly Rigantona.

"No. I just have to do something," said Ultear and walked toward the entrance of the cave.

"If you don't come back within a week you may not come back at all," said for goodbye dragoness looking as minuscule compared to her woman was walking away from the entrance. She stood there for a quarter of an hour when near landed other dragon.

"You personally showing up. It's interesting," said dragoness of darkness.

"Just to tell you that the majority of still living dragons would meet within the next day," said Grandeeney. "And due to that I'm going there myself I thought that will visit you along the way."

"So we should fly right away?" said Rigantona spreading her wings in preparation for departure.

"Yes. How is your child? Didn't sensed anyone except you around," she asked as the two already took into the air.

"She thought that have more important to attend to the matter than learning magic. I hope that she doesn't come back at all," replied a slightly dissatisfied.

"She was so bad?" sky dragoness looked away.

"It doesn't matter. But few more days and she would master basics and would only need improve using magic and learning spells. And what is reason to gather?"

" Acnologia made a move first for a long time," said Grandeeney sounding as if it was something quite ordinary.

"Interesting. Maybe so let hurry up," she said and both increased the speed with which they were flying. Several hours later landed on an extensive glade somewhere in the depths of the forest. Looking around they saw a few of friendly dragons that were already present.

"Slowly begin to appear interesting 'specimens'," quietly giggled Raitingu on what standing next to him A-su only to look in the direction of both dragoness.

Another hours flow on waiting for the rest of the dragons, who responded to the call. And so showed up in person fire and metal dragon. Somewhere behind them almost simultaneously from two sides come a Weissologia and Skiadrum. An hour later landed water, acid, and jade dragoness. In the evening, almost late appeared poison dragoness and Yangri but Koriana despite previous announcement had not yet been seen on horyzont when the sun was setting.

A/N: Dragons are back and there are more of them this time. Still no Atlas who soul stuck on chillout with giants in Sun Village. And our two yet just young childrens trying to play adults ^^ (ofc we can always count on Bruce saying: you shall not pass :P)
A/N v2: Juvia is so baddass now killing demons like a bawl. Thou she swallowed (no pun intended) something from that black priest. Hiro not make her now be in pain just don't. And Gray would now act like a badass throwing devil slayer spell on right and left. Plus Gajeel used dual element mode again ^^
