Gertrude rolled along the ground and Shade stepped in front of the Ralts.
The Charmander diverted his attack and took out a sapling just outside of the makeshift ring.
"Enough!" Shade said assertively.
"Hey, this goes until there is a K O!" The other trainer said. "She's concious, she fights!"
"Fight me." Shade told the older boy.
"It's a pokemon battle, stupid!"
"I'll fight the charmander. If I lose I'll pay up tripple, but I'm not letting Gertrude get hurt any more." She explained. "So either I walk away, or you knock my ass out!"
"Charmander, shut this bitch up, headbutt!"
The little fire lizard charged her and Shade countered with a hard punch, sending the opponent sailing backward to land unconcious at his trainer's feet. The boy stare in shock at his defeated team leader.
"I won't have Gertrude do anything I won't do." Shade said as she picked up her partner. She stare at the little Ralts and smiled warmly. "We're a team!" She told Gertrude more than the boy. "And we are leaving." She turned to look at her opponent. "Gertrude lost, you keep your fucking money." She tossed what ammount they had originally agreed on, scattering it across the ground. "There. Hope you can find it all."
Later that night as Gertrude held a cold rag to her eye she stare thoughtfully at Shade.
"What's on your mind?"
"You won. Were we supposed to take his money?"
"The bet wasn't on me. It was on you. You lost. I paid." Shade said simply as she counted their money.
Gertrude teared up and started to cry. The pile of money was much, much smaller than what they had started with last month.
Shade rushed to her and picked her up in a hug. "Are you okay?! Where does it hurt?" She looked over Gertrude like a worried parent.
"I am sorry I lost our money!" Gertrude bawled. "I do not mean to lose!"
"Gertrude!" Shade hugged her tightly. "I'm not mad! I didn't mean to sound like I was unhappy with you." She stroked Gertrude's back and rocked her slowly. "I am mad at that jerk." She clarified. "But you and I, we're still learning. We can't expect to win them all from the start."
The little psychic calmed quickly but still sniffled and wept.
"Gertrude, if you're worried about me getting food or a place to stay, I don't need to buy it. I have lived with wild pokemon for a good part of my life. I like it like that." She wiped Gertrude's tears away.
"I also like being able to get what we need easily, not having to search the forest for it, but it isn't a big deal." She set the little pokemon on the log. "What I'm saying is that none of that matters. You do!" She kissed Gertrude on the cheek. "Sleep!" She commanded softly and fluffed the bed of moss and grass in the small hollow of the tree they were sheltering under.

"No!"
Shade was taken aback by the forceful shout that filled her skull.
She watched as Gertrude teleported to dodge the Marill's attack. The water fairy pokemon looked as confused as her trainer. There was no time for the water mouse to counter as Gertrude dropped down on her with a heavy punch. Marill's face was forced into the wet dirt.
Gertrude held her hand as she ran up to Shade after the obvious victory.
Shade picked her up and inspected her hand. "Ralts aren't fighting types." She said.
"Punching hurts." Gertrude replied.
They looked to the dumbfounded blonde girl staring at the imprint of Maril's face in the mud. The trainer having already recalled her pokemon.
"Not too bad?" Shade asked the girl.
She grinned. "Naw! Marill's had worse!" She stroked the ball with care. "Her momma pushes her hard!" She said with a laugh. "That's my momma's Azumarill." The girl said with a nod. "Your little one okay?"
Shade smiled as Gertrude nodded yes.
"So, how much did I owe you?" The girl opened her bag and fished out a wallet.
"How about a couple sandwhiches?" Shade asked as Gertrude's belly growled.
"Deal!"
Fourty minutes later Shade cleared the table of a few paper plates.
They were at Ella's ranch. "Yeah my cousins and their parents raise up Eevee. Ya might want to stop by and get you one!"
"I suppose you promote their business whenever possible." Shade stated.
Ella nodded. Shade took notice of her eyes traveling downward and the small lick she gave her lips.
"Gertrude." The psychic lifted her head enough to look at Shade. "Go play, partner. I... uh... need to talk privately with Ella."
Gertrude rolled onto her belly then pushed herself up to all fours, then onto her feet.
"That's adorable!" Ella said as Gertrude got up.
Marill took Gertrude's hand and they went outside with the others in Ella's team.
"So, Ella, I'm a bit more developed than girls my age. I'm not ignorant. I just don't have any practice." Shade leaned in some. "Do you, I mean, are there some things you would like to teach me?" She felt her cheeks redden.
"Follow me!" Ella said as her eyes lit up and her own cheeks flushed.
Outside Gertrude had just tossed the ball back to Marill and the water mouse dropped it to the side. "That should be long enough."
"What?" Gertrude asked only to have the blue pokemon wave for her to follow.
Soon they were peering through the window to Ella's room as Ella pressed her lips to Shade's. Her hands roamed up Shade's sides to cup her breasts for a moment then run down to grab her bottom and pull Shade against her.
"You're a good kisser!" Ella paused to tell Shade before leaning in to resume the kiss.
"What are they doing?" Gertrude asked.
"Mother says they're doing what makes babies, but it don't work as Ella is a girl and she does this with other girls." Marill explained.
"Then why are they doing that?"
"I don't know, but it makes me feel funny." Marill turned away from Gertrude slightly. Seemingly embarassed.
Gertrude patted her back. "I don't feel anything, and I don't see anything that would make me laugh."
"You're too young to understand. I'm not too sure what I understand or don't myself." Marill hopped off the logs piled under the window. "I'm goin' for a swim!"
"Okay! Have fun!" Gertrude turned back to see that Shade and Ella were now topless. Shade's pants were unbuttoned and Ella had her hand in them. The door to the front of the house opened and the two girls broke apart. Both scrambled to dress and they pulled out a book and started reading.
An older version of Ella opened the door to Ella's room and was a bit surprised to see Shade there.
Ella obviously had done this before and showed no signs of nervousness.
Shade, in the short time Gertrude had known her, was a fast talker and easily fell in line with things.
On a handful of occssions while working with professor Birch, Shade had aquired things for the professor from suspect sources. Only tapping into Shade's calm demeanor had kept Gertrude from shaking with nerves.
There was a quick discussion, more like interrogation, and Ella's mother left the room.
"Well, shit!" Ella frowned and cursed under her breath. "Think you can stay for supper? Train a little more?" She grinned and wiggled her eyebrows when she said trained.
"Yeah!" Shade's eyes got a dreamy look. "I'd like that!"
Shortly after the girls came out to play with their pokemon. Shade and Ella started swimming and soon both girls and Marill talked Gertrude into joining them. Shade had to help her, she had never swam before. Ella gave her a set of floaties and an innertube.
They were having a blast until a Gyarados lifted it's head from the deep end and Shade passed out with the sudden fright. Even Gertrude, who had felt the fear, fainted.
Shade was long since dried off but she wasn't any better. She was huddled against the wall of the house opposite of the pond out back. She looked like she had seen a ghost.
"You are afraid of those, ain't ya?" Ella asked and Shade nodded yes. "Want to talk about it?" Shade closed her eyes tightly, tears rolling down her face as she violently shook her head no.
Some time went by, Gertrude and Ella regularly checked on Shade until they found her resting in a chair and watching the clouds.
"Supper's ready." She helped Shade to stand and led her inside.
Dinner was pleasant.
It only took the mention of having worked for Professor Birch and suddenly Shade and Gertrude were honored guests.
Though Ella's mom did finally ask if Shade liked girls, Shade smiled innocently and said. "I like lots of girls. There's Gertrude, my friend Terra, my teacher Miss Brandy, and of course I like Ella and You!" She smiled sweetly. "You're both awefully nice! Ella helping me become a trainer and you both letting Gertrude and I join you for dinner!" She looked to her plate for a moment for a quick bite then back up to Ella's mom. "I just like nice people, Mrs. Chesterfield!" She tilted her head, grinned again and closed her eyes all in one action.
"Heh, you really are a cutie!" After that there was no more odd questions from the woman. Shade even helped clean up after dinner. Gertrude listened to Mr. and Mrs. Chesterfield talk about their interesting guest as the girls washed the dishes.
Come late evening Shade was teaching Ella how to speak Sneasel as Ella felt her up and kissed her. Out in the barn. Where Gertrude over heard moans, panting, squshing sounds, and smelled something from both girls that she hadn't smelled from them before.

Ella returned to her bed, alone. Shade opting to stay in the hayloft and having failed to get Ella to stay with her.
They met early in the morning only to be caught by Ella's dad as they made out.
He didn't seem phased by it. "Don't let yer mother catch ya." Was all he had said at first while he gathered the tools he would need for the day. "I gotta say, mighty fine acting last night, girls!" He seemed a bit proud.
"Working in the garden, Daddy?" Ella asked.
"Yup!"
"You're not mad, Daddy?"
"At least this way I ain't got ta worry 'bout grandkids before I'm old."
"But Momma says it ain't natural. She got real mad when she saw me kiss Nadine."
"I had two Lopunny when I was a trainer. Both female. Both very much in love. Ain't never seen people before I stumbled across them one day. They were the best in a two on two battle I'd ever had." He spoke fondly of the two, though shade and Gertrude had no idea what the pokemon he talked of looked like, they were still interested in the story. "You'r mother's sister is like that too. Her roommate ain't her roommate."
"You mean...?"
Mr. Chesterfield nodded afirmative. "Don't tell your momma." He said sternly but his face remained soft. "Now, who wants to help me in the garden?"
The two girls and even Gertrude put their hands up.
That evening Shade and Gertrude walked west of the ranch.
"Why didn't we stay?" Gertrude asked.
"I wasn't going to keep lying to Mrs. Chesterfield. I actually liked her, despite what she thinks about..." Shade trailed off.
"Girls trying to make babies?"
"You were awake?" Shade blushed.
Gertrude nodded. Shade groaned.
"I had thought Mr. Chesterfield had woken you up."
Gertrude stopped and Shade did too.
"I heard you last night." She admitted.
"I thought we were quiet." She picked Gertrude up and put her on her shoulders. "I don't want to tell people about me liking girls."
"I won't tell either." Gertrude patted Shade's head. "Partner!" She said in a singsong voice.
"You liked Ella, though." Gertrude continued after a while.
"She didn't want to travel. I didn't want to stay." Shade hung her head. She slowly lifted it and took a deep breath. "I'll anways have fond memories."
"And her underwear." Gertrude giggled.
"Stop reading my mind." Shade blushed deeply and growled slightly.
