“This way.” Samuel said, leading Preston to his room. “you can make a bed on the floor right over there.” He said point to the closet, “I have to inform my friends what's going on so they don't get caught off guard… Thanks to you.” he muttered. “So, DON'T LEAVE THIS ROOM!” Samuel demanded as he headed out the door. “Oh no worries, I'll be here professor,” Preston said with a smile, “I'll be here waiting to chat.” Samuel sighed as he reached for the door, opening it and walking out. He headed across the hall, knocking on the girls bedroom door. Inside he could hear giggling and Tina said “oh finally, room service. Come in, come in.” she teased. “Hey girls,” Samuel said as he entered the room, avoiding eye contact. “Look I hate to ask but…” “But what?” urged Shay, “don't be afraid to ask us anything, silly.” “Yea, unless it's nasty.” Tina added as both girls giggled. “Well…” Samuel continued “I kind of need you girls to lie with me, for me.” “Yup, sure, always.” answered Tina right away, shay giggled but quickly got serious “lie for you about what hun?” She asked, concerned. “Are you ok?” “Well you see,” Samuel started. “An old colleague of mine arrived a few moments ago, and I wasn't really expecting him.” “Wait, you mean here? now?” Asked Tina now looking as serious as shay. “Yea well, i guess someone at the office found where I was going and might have told him, it doesn't really matter, he's leaving in the morning, it’s just I told that psycho guy from earlier that this other guy was already with us, just he got separated and arrived late.” he told the girls. “So for now-” “What's his name?” asked Tina “oh my god, Tina, really? Shay said, tossing a pillow at her. “I just want to know,” she laughed “I mean we are supposed to know who this guy right? She asked, looking at Samuel. “So what is his name?” “It's Preston.” Samuel sighed “he is in my room and I think you girls should meet him so you don't look like you're meeting for the first time tomorrow.” “oh yes,” whispered Tina to shay. “Let's meet this mystery man.” Samuel slowly opened the door behind him. Poking his head out, looking to make sure no one was around, he then grabbed Shay by the hand and told the girls to follow him out. Slowly they crept across the hall into Samuels room, the girl giggling behind the entire time. As they got into the room the girls turned to see tall broody, handsome man changing his clothes in the closet as he stood over a makeshift bed. his pants undone and his shirt left open, as if they had come in just a little too late. The girls stood there staring at him, his long black hair pulled into a messy braid, his tall stature and his wet chiseled chest. When Preston looked up he grabbed his long beard stroking it slowly. He began to walk toward the girls looking as if he was studying a foreign text. “Ladies,” he said, breaking a smile to his face. “Wow those teeth” Tina thought to herself. “He’s so hot, just doesn't sound like a dork Tina.” She thought to herself. “That smile is to die for, and his voice, oh my god, I'm going to lose it.” “Preston, these are my good friends, Tina Field and Shay Red.” Samuel said as he cut in over Tina's thoughts. “Tina, Shay, this is Preston clear.” Shay reached out her hand just as Tina cut in front of her and grabbed Preston's hand and began shaking it like a raddle. “Hi-hello, I'm Tina. Nice to meet you Preston. I hope the trip was ok.” she said as she lent in closer and closer. “Oh my god he smells so good.” she thought to herself. “Is this weird? no this isn't weird, if he didn't want people to smell him he wouldn't smell so divine. Being near him is like waking up early while the mist is still out and taking a deep breath, like sitting on the beach with a martini, it's like- it’s like-” “Tina, are you ok?” Samuel said, breaking her thoughts. “Yea, I'm good. I just have to uh, I'll be off to bed I mean, yea. Good night Mr. Clear.” Tina said, taking a step back, now feeling mortified. “Well anyways,” Shay said as she cut in between Tina and Preston “my name is Shay and it is very nice to meet you Mr. Clear.” She reached her hand out to shake Preston’s, just then Samuel cut in. “Well, that's rather enough for one night I would say, wouldn't you?” He asked, looking at everyone. “I don't know about you gals, but I'm rather beat and could surely use some rest.” Shay took a step back, a little confused, then glanced at Samuel. “Yea, I think you're right Samuel. I'm rather beat as well.” She agreed. The girls looked back at Preston on their way out wishing him a good night, Shay stopped just outside the door, eyeing Samuel. “I'll be right in.” Samuel said to Preston, looking back at him as he walked out the door, closing it behind him. “What's wrong shay?” he asked as he leant against the wall looking into her eyes. “Are you sure you want someone who followed you here to be sleeping next to you, Sammy boy? I don't think that's a good idea.” she said as she got closer to Samuel. “I'm worried. I can't lose you or Tina.” she said. “Shay! Get your ass in here already!” Tina yelled, startling Shay and Samuel. “Look shay,” Samuel said as he grabbed her, pulling her into a hug. “I'll be ok, trust me.” “Every time someone says trust me…” Shay starts. “It's going to be okay.” Samuel interrupted her. “I'll keep you both safe, so please. Go get some rest. Tomorrow might prove to be challenging.” Shay nodded and walked into her room. Samuel turned around, heading inside his room as well, slowly closing the door behind him. Preston was finishing getting dressed, as he looked up he could see a serious look on Samuels face. “Look here Preston,” Samuel started. “I'm going a big limb, i could have told that guy I didn't know you, and you would have been fucked. Sorry for my vulgar language. But I warn you sir, if you even think about hurting one of my friends, I will be forced to end you. I might look like an overweight professor who can't hold his own, but I assure you sir. I am fast, and can very well hold my own, and I will protect my family from anyone or anything.” he said looking into Preston’s eyes so close now that Preston could smell Samuels freshly brushed breath. “Never professor.” Preston said as he sat down on Samuels bed. “I need your help Samuel, that's all. I'm not here to hurt you, I'm here to get your help. If I lose you, I lose my only chance.” he said, assuring Samuel. He stood up and began to walk to the closet, “look if you want,” he said. “You can block the door or lock me in, or both. It's ok as long as you let me out if I need to piss.” Samuel chuckled to himself. “no, no. That will be alright.” he said looking at Preston. “But i tell you sir, i am a very light sleeper, now get some rest. Lots of work to be done. Goodnight sir.” Preston lay there in his closet, thinking to himself. ‘I'm here sister, I made it. and soon you will all be free.’ He rolled over, turning off the light and closing his eyes to sleep. just outside, while everyone slept, in the shadows of the forest, in the flashing light of the lightning. A fox was placing a dead bunny on the ground, getting ready to feast on it. Just then, the rabbit's leg twitched, startling the fox back. The fox grew in closer, sniffing the area and testing his food. Nothing, so the fox opened his mouth as he placed his paws on the lifeless bunnies body. He grabbed the neck and went to eat the throat, assuring the death of his prey. Crack! Snap! The fox jumped back, looking around, trying to see what was creeping up on him, trying to get his meal. The fox, not seeing anything, decided he should eat and go. So he approached baby Charlotte once more, still not sensing life from the poor, blood soaked bunny. Just then, something dark rushed past the fox, and stood over the bunny. It was thin and black, it made a crackling sound as it moved. It reached over the bunny, turning into dark smoke, and entering the rabbit. The fox looked confused, unsure what it had just seen, debating if it would leave or not, but the hunger in his stomach was too much, he couldn't walk away now. Just as he went to make his final attempt for food, the leg kicked, kicked the fox so hard he was out of sight. ‘What does this mean? Will our bunny friend make it? Did she die? What was that black figure doing? And what happened to the fox? poor guy, looking for a meal.’ The wind made terrible howling noises, constraint without fail. The trees made an awful screeching noise on the window and the front door of the cabin was banging relentlessly with the wind. Just then another abrupt bang from the front screen door, waking Preston up once again. “Looks like I'm not sleeping.” he thought to himself. Preston rolled over looking at his phone to check the time, a little confused. “2:22” he thought. “wasn't it that time when I went to bed? How long was I out for?” he thought. Preston lay there stare intently at his cell phone, counting in his head, waiting to see if the time would change. He counted slowly, “45, 46, 47” he continued “49, 50.” As he drew closer to the minute mark, he half expected the time to change but feared it wouldn't. “59, 60.” he thought out loud at this point, “Fuck.” he said lowly to himself. “Looks like time is up.” looking at the time, which still showed 2:22 am. Preston sat up on his bed, looking out the closet door, I'll try the couch for a little while he thought. “Samuel, hey Samuel.” he said slowly as he shook him, trying to wake him. “Light sleeper my ass.” Preston thought. “Hey buddy, i'm going to get a drink of water, don't panic if you wake up and i'm not in here please.” Preston then tiptoed to the door, slowly opening it up. “I'll just get a drink of water and sit on the couch for a little while.” he said softly to himself. He made his way down the dark hallway, aiming to make it to the only light at the end he saw, before someone could catch him. “I feel like a fucking kid sneaking out of bed.” he thought to himself. “I really hope my service is messed up or that my phone got wet and is messing up. Maybe that's it.” he told himself. “I'll just have to wait and see.” he thought of making it to the end of the hall, now headed for that cup of water from the kitchen. Preston took his glass of water and sat down on the couch, just then the lightning flashed, and he thought he saw the dark silhouette of a female with long hair, standing, peering in through the window at him. Preston startled for a second, shook his glass, spilling on his lap. He chuckled to himself. “I'm being ridiculous. I think I'll just take this to bed with me.” He stood, and started to walk down the hallway. “Once I get to the room and get some rest, it will be fine,” he said to himself. He made his way down the dark hallway and to the door, and as he slowly opened the door, he could feel the chill of death just lurking over him, covering his body in an icy blanket. As he entered the room he looked to see if Samuel had woken. Not seeing his body he thought “maybe he went to the girls room, scared because he woke up and I was gone.” He inched in the room more, calling his name softly. Preston made his way to the closet, sitting on the floor, thinking to himself how much colder it felt. While Preston attempted to fall asleep again, Tina was waking up in the next room, finding herself alone as well. “What time is it?” She thought to herself. “It has to be at least one in the afternoon.” Tina sat up in bed looking around, noticing Shay was not there. “I bet she is out there eating all the food and forgot to wake me again…” she thought. “I'm starving, and this hangover is overkill.” she said to herself. “I better catch up with Samuel and Shay, and get some food. Tina wobbled her way out of bed, leaning on the dresser next to her. “Why did shay and I have to sneak into the kitchen and take that bottle of whiskey?” she thought, as her head pounded and she recalled the fun night she and Shay had after leaving Samuels room. Tina made her way out the door and down the hall to the living room when she looked over and out the window. She was half hoping it was nice and sunny outside, but also afraid it would still be storming. As her eyes rose, her heart sank. “Still so dark.” she thought. Just then, she heard a loud thud followed by a terrifying, bloodcurdling scream. Tina turned heading to the kitchen, she yelled out, “hold on, I'm coming!” then, swiftly through the kitchen door, running right into the clutches of a hideous, dark looking figure. “Wh-what?!” Tina yelled, “NOO! Let me go! w-who?” “Tina, wake up!” Samuel said, as he shook her gently. “Hey wake up, you almost plowed right into me.” he said, grabbing her face to his, trying to get her to open her eyes. Shay came up from behind Samuel, placing her hand on Tina's shoulder, “are you ok?” she asked her, looking very upset. “I-I… I don’t know.” Tina stammered as she opened her eyes, looking at Samuel and Shay. “I was trying to come get some food, but then I stopped to look out the window. T-that's when i thought i heard something. Like someone fall. Then I thought I could hear Shay screaming. S-so I ran in here and it was a monster, I saw.” She said as she broke down, crying and leaning on Shay. “hey, hey it's ok.” Samuel said as he patted her on the back. “It's probably just the storm,” he said. “It's still going and it's so dark. Kind of hard to tell time huh?” He asked, looking at Tina with a smile. “Yea!” Shay agreed. “Plus, don't forget about all the drinks we had last night.” she said, chuckling and looking Tina in the eyes. “See? Everything is ok. I'm ok, Samuel is ok. You're ok.” “Yea, maybe you're right.” Tina said as she looked up at Shay, and then Samuel. “I'm probably still really faded, and this place does kind of bite with all the rain.” Samuel walked over to the window above the sink. “It’s so dark, and the clocks seem to have all stopped at 2:22 AM.” he said, looking far into the distance. Our phones seem to have stopped as well.” he continued, as he turned to face the girls. “I'm sure we have all been going through some weird things with the whole jet lag and no sunlight business. But maybe a bit more rest or some food might help.” he suggested, as he walked to the fridge to see what was in it. “This place is strange though.” Shay said, looking at Samuel. “You know it is Samuel. Its something I can't explain.” Just then Preston came into the kitchen. “It's a haunting.” he said, looking at the girls, then at Samuel. “No, I doubt that.” Shay said. “I bet its iron in the ground and something to do with the rain, that's probably what's messing up our cell phones and why it's so dark. Plus don't forget all the trees out there don't really help.” “Uh-close.” Samuel said, closing the fridge and looking at Shay. “what you're aiming at, shay, is called “Solar flares”. They consist of three major components, Solar flares, Solar proton events (SPE’s), and coronal mass ejection, or, CME’s. CME’s can interact with the earth’s magnetic fields to produce a geomagnetic storm. Not all Solar storms need to produce all three elements for this to happen. The largest Solar storm on Earth to ever occur was only enough to produce minor disquieting effects on the Earth. You would most likely get things like short term electrical blackouts, short lived communication outages, re-routing of aircraft, maybe the loss of a satellite. You would even most likely see the aurora borealis out there. It would make it visible to the U.S as well as Europe. But as you can see, Shay my love, there is no beautiful Aurora Borealis out there, and we have power on in here.” “Yea, well. I still think this place is .” Shay said as she leaned over to Tina. “Don't you think there could be ghosts here.” Shay continued, looking over at Samuel. “I know you're like, scary smart and all, but doesn't a part of you feel like there are ghosts out there? or, in here actually.” “ok , that's enough!” Tina said, pulling back from Shay and glaring at all three of them. “I don't know what's going on, I just know what I saw. Woah-” Tina, shay said, reaching out for her. “It's ok, I was just kidding. Besides, when you came into the kitchen, you had your eyes closed and you were screaming. So you were just sleepwalking.” she said pulling Tina in for a hug. “I shouldn't have scared you like that, I'm really sorry.” “No, it's not you, Shay.” Tina said, pulling away and looking at her. “I'm sorry everyone. I think I'm just a little scared. I'll be ok, I promise.” “Maybe you should go lay down.” Shay said, looking Tina in her eyes and placing her hand on her shoulder. “Maybe, I might. But really, I'm ok. I'll be fine. Besides, places like this are bound to be haunted, right? It just is what it is? I said I would be here for you, so I am.” “You shouldn't have to watch out for me this time.” Tina said as she wiped the last tear from her eye. “I'm here for you now, like I promised.” Tina turned to Preston, apologizing to him, and as she talked to him, Shay walked over to Samuel, whispering into his ear. “Maybe we shouldn't tell her what we saw outside.” Samuel nodded his head. “I still don't think we saw what we think we did.” he said looking over at Shay. “yea well, we will see, won't we? we are kind of stuck here after all.” Samuels stomach growled, interrupting them. “Well, I don't know about you three,” he said looking up at Preston and Tina now. “But I'm hungry and belly says it's about 6:30 AM. belly time.” he said as he jiggled his tummy at Shay, chasing her over to Tina. The girls giggled as they bumped into Preston, making him chuckle. “Well I guess I better make breakfast.” Shay said, walking over to the refrigerator. "You might want to make enough for everyone.” Tina suggested “that way no one gets mad we ate their food.” she chuckled, sitting down next to Preston, who had sat at the table. “I don't.” she said, looking at Tina. “are you sure I shouldn't just make enough for them not to care if we ate any?” Shay asked, looking back at Samuel. “No, just make enough for everyone.” suggested samuel. “Looked like we came in on a party last night, so I'm sure everyone is going to need some food. “Yea, he’s right.” Tina said. “Just do that.” “Either way, food sounds good to me.” Preston said, looking at Shay, with a smile on his face and a fork in his hand. As Shay began making breakfast, Tina looked over at Samuel who had sat on the other side of her. She pulled at his shirt and gave him a nice smile as she said, “I almost forgot, what happened to you and Shay while I was asleep? I had woke up and didn't see anyone, then bam! Here you two are, alone in the kitchen. “Well, I don't know if I should tell you, Tina. you seem like you might need some rest before you can take anymore information in.” Samuel said, placing one hand on Tina’s hand. patting her hand, he looked over at Shay, then at Tina, I just don’t think you're ready to know.” “Oh, my god!” Tina said, pulling her hand back. “Now you know I need to know.” she whispered. “What were you two doing alone, Sammy boy?!” “Tina calm down, you're going to get Shay’s attention. She isn't ready for you to know yet, she is very concerned about you now.” he said, lowering his voice, trying to get her to lower her voice as well. Preston looked over at them and leaned in, “hey- what am I missing?” he asked. “Nothing.” Samuel said abruptly. “Tina is just asking me what happened while she was out. I'm trying to tell her that she needs to not worry about it.” Samuel said as he sat right and closed his eyes, pointing his face in the direction of Shay now. Avoiding all eye contact to Tina. Samuel smirked as Tina kept pulling on his shirt. “Tell me what you two did, or so help you toad boy, I’ll give you painful warts.” Preston looked over at Tina, a little confused at her insult. :what are you getting at, Tina?” he asked her. “Nothing.” she said quickly, as she kept in on Samuel. “Hey, what are you guys mumbling about over there?” Shay asked, now fully focused on the group in the corner. “uh , nothing Shay.” Tina said, letting go of Samuel’s sleeve. Samuel chuckled. “They were arguing if Samuel should tell her what you and he were up to while she slept.” Preston said, smiling to himself and looking back at the newspaper that was on the table. Samuel laughed harder. “Wh-What? No we weren't.” Tina said. “We were just joking around, I mean.” “Yea Shay, I don't know what that guys are going on about.” Samuel said, looking at Tina now, smiling at her as if he had something she wanted really bad. “Ah.” Shay said. “Well I don’t care if you tell her, but listen Tina, it's a lot to take in, and I don't know if you are ok to hear it at the moment. But I won't keep anything from you if you really want to know. but Tina,” she said looking across the room at Tina with a very serious look. “It might come as a shock to you, make sure you really want to know before you ask, please. I am very worried you might freak out after Samuel tells you.” “Oh my god, tell me already!” Tina yelled, standing to her feet. “Just say it already, just say you and Shay are a couple!” she yelled, turning to Samuel, looking him intensely in the eyes, her face so close to his, he could smell the alcohol on her breath. Samuel coughed and Shay began to giggle. “Tina, love.” he said, pulling back from her grasp. “You really need to brush your teeth, and no, it was a dog dead- er, I mean, a dead dog.” Samuel stammered. “Breakfast is almost done,” Shay interrupted. “Oh thank goodness.” Preston exclaimed “I am famished. So go on.” he insisted, looking at Samuel. “A dead dog, and?” “Well wait!” Tina interjected. “If it's something really nasty, maybe we should wait till after we eat. I have such an appetite, it would suck to lose it. Meanwhile, Beth and Ryan began to wake up as well. Ryan sat up in the bed as he rolled Beth off his shoulder, trying not to wake her. He rubbed his eyes, half drunk and half hung over. Outside, Ryan could hear the big storm that was still accumulating. He stood, walking over to the window and looked out. “That damn dim, soul sucking, blackness out there, with its flashes of fiery looking lightning.” he muttered as he took a breath, breathing in the air that snuck between the wood of the cottage, it smelt of pine and wet dirt. “I love that smell.” he thought as he turned to see Beth waking up as well. “I wonder what time it is,” he thought. “looks late, still. Hey baby” he said to Beth, sitting next to her on the bed. “How did you sleep?” “Not too bad.” she said, reaching up for a kiss. “and you?” “Well not as long as I thought.” he replied as he kissed her back.” Looks like it's still night or early morning, where is your cell phone?” he asked looking around Beth on the bed. “Oh, it's dead, I just tossed it on the ground last night.” she chuckled. “I was a little toast. Sorry again about having the party move into the room.” she said looking at Ryan. “Don't worry about it love, I would always rather have a nice naked night with you anyways. Hold on.” he said standing to his feet once more. “I'll get my cell phone and have a look.” Ryan walked over to the chair in the corner of the room, moving his pants looking for his phone. “Were the fuck did i put- oh here we go.” he said pulling the phone out from one of the pockets. “Huh.” he said softly. “What is it?” Beth asked as she stood, getting dressed. “Well, my phone is dead too, it seems.” He said looking at Beth showing his phone. “Well maybe it wasn't plugged in all the way.” she said as she struggled with the clasp on her pants. “No, look. It's in all the way, has a battery symbol and all.” he said looking confused. “How could it not have even one percent on it?” Beth walked over to Ryan, reaching down and grabbing his boxers for him. “Maybe the charger broke again, babe. it's no big deal.” she laughed. “But baby, I am really starving here, and I can smell that other people are as well.” “Oh shit, I forgot we had company. look Beth,” Ryan said, pulling her into his chiseled bare chest. “We have to be on the lookout, we don't know these people, they could be dangerous.” “Relax Ryan, if they were crazy we should all be dead by now, let's not panic till after we eat whatever food they made.” she said, chuckling to herself as she walked out the door. Just across the hall, Josh and Samantha were still passed out in each other's arms. Samantha began to toss and turn, hearing scratching at her door she sat up quickly, scanning the room. “H-hello?” she muttered, but just barely. “Is anyone there?” She looked over to the clock, still stuck on 2:22, and then out the window, still raining and dark. “h-hello?” she said again, a little louder this time. “I'm not afraid of you, whoever you are.” Just then she could hear a low distorted growl, followed by a choppy voice. “Not afraid.” said the voice. “That's good, maybe you should open up and let me in already then, Miss, no worries, my dear.” Samantha gasped to herself. “NOW!” Yelled the voice, startling her, making her jump and wake Josh. ”hey, come back to bed.” he said as he pulled at Samantha, getting her to lay down with him. “It's early,” he said. “The suns not even out yet.” Samantha laid there for a few moments, wondering what she had heard. “Was it Beth, being a creeper again?” she thought. “Maybe it's the stuff Beth heard last night that made her have a meltdown. Samantha looked over at Josh, who had already fallen back to sleep. Just then Samantha heard a loud banging on the door, and the distorted voice cracked out, “OPEN THE FUCKING DOOR, BITCH!” Samantha yelled, thinking it was Beth messing with her at this point. “Beth, fucking stop.” she yelled. “You're not funny, what the hell is wrong with you?” Josh woke up in a terror, gasping and looking quickly at Samantha, grabbing her and pulling her attention to him. “Wh-what's the matter Sammy?” he asked, sweating and looking worried. “Did- did i hurt you in my sleep again?” he asked, checking her up and down now. “No, i-im fine.” she said looking back at the door which had fallen silent. “I just thought I heard something, is all.” she said as she laid her head into his chest. “It's ok, Sammy. I'm here for you. It was probably a bad dream or the thunder.” he said as he gently moved the hair from her face. “Look outside.” he said, pointing to the window. “It’s still crazy dark out there, and the storm seems to not be letting up at all. Plus you just woke up, right? So I bet you were still half asleep. Hey I know.” he said kissing Samantha on the forehead “lets go downstairs and I’ll make you some food, that should help.” “Yea, I guess you're right.” she said, chuckling to herself as she smiled at Josh. “Would you like me to make you food this time?” she asked. “You did make it last time, after all. It might help take my mind off things for a while, plus you can sit and relax with the paper.” She insisted. Josh chuckled “sounds like a good plan to me, baby. I’ll just grab the apron.” Samantha laughed, and lightly smacked Josh on the chest. “No Josh, not now.” she laughed. “We have guests and by the looks of it, they will be here a little while with us. So I would much rather not give them another show.” “oh, come on baby, most of the people here already had a show at this point, one more won't hurt.” he laughed as he pulled her in for a kiss.” “Stop it” Samantha said, chuckling and pulling away, looking for her clothes. “Later Josh. For now, let's go eat.” she laughed. Josh and Samantha came out of their rooms just in time to run into Beth and Ryan. “Oh, hey. Good morning everyone.” Ryan said, as he almost toppled over Josh. “Good timing as always, Ryan.” Josh said, grabbing onto the wall, trying to brace himself. The group made their way to the kitchen, talking about how good the air smelt, wondering if any food would be left. Just as they got into the kitchen, they overheard Samuel telling Tina and Preston what happened with him and Shay. “Yeah.” Samuel said enthusiastically. “a human head, just under the steeps. Looked like the rain may have washed it up or something.” “No way.” Tina protested. “No way, a human skull. Are you sure you got a good enough look at it?” “I’m sure.” Samuel said. “The worst part was, it was a kid's skull.” “What? no fucking way!” Tina yelled as she slammed her fist onto the table. “Who the hell would have done something like that?” she asked softly, sitting back down in her seat. “Whoa- wait a minute, what’s going on here?” Ryan asked, approaching the group at the table and looked back at Josh concerningly. Josh, Ryan and Beth walked to the table as Samantha approached Shay. “Hello.” she said, reaching her hand out. “I'm Samantha. and what's your name?” With a warm smile. Shay reached back out to Samantha, shaking her hand. “hello, I’m shay. It's very nice to meet you, and I hope you don't mind my making breakfast for everyone, it's my way of saying thank you.” “Oh no-no really, I was just hoping it would be ok if I joined you.” Samantha said, smiling back at Shay. “I didn't have a very good night, and cooking helps keep my mind off things.” “Sure thing.” Shay replied. “I would love some help. With new people is a good way to make friends.” she said, turning back to the stove. “Well I Hope so, anyways.” she chuckled back over her shoulder. Samantha took a look at what Shay had already started then headed into the fridge for more supplies. Meanwhile, Ryan, Beth and Josh were hearing the entire story from Samuel. Samuel took a deep breath before telling his grisly tale once more to the rest of the group. “This is going to be nasty.” he warned the others just joining them. “and maybe a little scary. Just before everyone began to wake up, I had to use the restroom, like, really bad, so Iwas in a hurry. I ran out of the room and down the hall, and hit my knee on the coffee table that sits outside the bathroom door. I must have been loud, because I woke Shay up.” “Yea!” Shay interjected. “He woke me up, then I had to pee.” Samuel and Shay laughed. “Yea but Shay was sweet and let me go first. anyways,” He said looking at Shay as she stood over the stove flipping bacon. “Well you did get there first.” she added, slightly looking over her shoulder. “Sadly, he takes forever, so I started pacing to pass the time.” Shay then headed to the table, placing down plates of waffles, eggs and bacon. “I eventually wound up outside.” she said, looking at Beth. “I don't know why, I just did. I was trying to clear my thoughts and just wound up out there. That's when I saw what looked like someone's leg under the porch, so I went over there to look.” “Yeah, that's when I heard her scream,” Samuel interrupted. “Lucky for her I was already on my way to the door looking for her.” “I-I didn't scream,” Shay said, glaring at Samuel. “I yelped. It startled me.” “What did?” Beth asked. “Was it a leg? Was someone down there?” “well, not really.” she said. “It was just a skull. Looking at me with mud dripping from the eye sockets.” “A skull?!” Beth yelled. “Well not at first.” Shay said, looking at everyone at the table. “What do you mean, not at first?” Ryan asked. “There was a little girl under the house.” Samuel said, looking up at Shay. “a little girl?” Samantha asked as she approached the table. She sat down next to Josh, not noticing at first that Preston was one of the people now in her cabin. Samantha looked up after placing her plate down and sitting, she caught the sight of Preston who was staring at her intently now. “Oh.” she said. “oh?” Asked Josh, looking at her. “Do you know something of this little girl?” he asked. “No, I mean oh, it's you.” She said looking into Preston's dark gray eyes. “How is your nose?” Wait, you know this guy?” Josh asked, now looking alarmed. “Yeah baby, this is the guy whose nose I might have or might not have broke, remember?” She asked, chuckling softly. Preston closed his eyes as he chuckled, turning his head away. “I'm fine, not that easy to break you know?” “Oh my god!” Tina yelled, releasing that she had seen them on the plane. “You guys-that's them!” she said pointing to Samantha and Josh. “who?” asked Samuel, looking at Tina, a little embarrassed for her outburst. “They are the two people I told you about on the plane! he was heading into the stall when she walked out and wacked him in the face, was fucking gold!” she said, laughing out loud now. “Oh, no shit.” said Ryan as he stroked his chin. “So you mean to say we were all on the same flight? What a strange coincidence.” “Ok, you guys are off topic now.” Shay said, trying to circle back to the little girl outside. “But Shay.” Tina said. “we were all on the same flight.” “I get that, but you don't understand, something more strange is going on here. I saw a little girl outside in the rain, under the house.” “You really think you saw a little girl, out there in all of this?” Preston said, looking back and forth between Shay and Samantha. “Yeah! Well n-no.” Samuel said. “We thought we did, but once we looked again it was just the skull.” “Yeah, b-but…” Shay trailed off. “But what?” persisted Preston. “what happened?” “Well, when we went to grab the skull to get a better look…” Samuel started. “It disintegrated.” Shay cut in. The group paused for a moment, then Beth began laughing hysterically. “Oh that was good.” laughed Tina looking at her friends in disbelief. “yeah, I know, right? They almost had me going.” Samantha said, looking at Beth who was still trying to breathe through her laughter. “They almost had me, I was like, ‘oh no way!’.” Josh said, laughing as well. “Oh no, I agree, that was classic, good story you guys. You really sold it.” Ryan said, chuckling softly to himself. “It disintegrated.” Tina said, making the group burst out in laughter once more. “What did the girl look like?” Preston asked, looking at Shay and Samuel very seriously now. “What, no way you bought that man.” Josh said, looking at Preston. “It was just a very good story they hoaxed up is all.” “yea, I don't think anyone has ever died here.” Beth said, looking at Samantha. “My sister and I picked this place out online. brand new, they told us.” she said as she wrapped her arms around Samantha. “Yup.” Sammy agreed. “‘Brand new’ they said. No one has ever been here.” “‘New’ they said.” Tina blurted out. Well they lied., this place used to belonged to Shay, it was her summer home. That's why we're here.” “Tina!” Shay said as she kicked Tina under the table. “Wh-what are you talking about?” Samantha asked, looking at Ryan, shocked. “So they lied to us?” “Well,” Shay started softly. “You see, my family and I used to own this land, and this cottage. my initials are still in my room upstairs if you want me to show you.” “But then when my family died here-” “Died!” Freaked Beth. “What do you mean died?! I'm sorry your family died, but, like, what do you mean? Here? In this house? And that bitch agent lied to us?” “Calm down, Beth.” Samantha said, grabbing her sister's hand. “Well, they disappeared here and I was all that was left.” Shay said, trying to be vague. “So yes, I guess they did lie to you, I'm sorry.” “Oh my god.” muttered Beth, I'm so sorry for your loss, shay.” Samantha said, leaning over to her, giving her a hug. “It was years ago, but thank you.” Shay said, giving Samantha a sympathetic smile. “What about the girl you saw outside?” Preston insisted. “What did she look like? I really need to know.” Everyone was now wondering the same thing as well as, why Preston wanted to know so badly. “Well, about ten, maybe eight,” Samuel said. “She was a cute little thing with long, brown hair and-” “And Blue eyes?” Preston interrupted, looking deeply into Shay's eyes now. “y-yea,” Samuel and Shay answered “how did you know that?” Shay asked. “It’s simple,” Ryan interjected. “He was reading your lips and getting ready to say the next detail you were going to give. That's all. Another parlor trick, seems like everyone at this table is good at them.” Beth chuckled. “You guys are good, a little too much into scares for my taste, but good nonetheless.” “Look, I know she was there.” Shay said as she stood to her feet, turning away from the group.” “Yea, we both saw her, and matched her up, so we know we're not crazy.” Samuel added. “Well you kind of need a third party for that ruling, don't you?” Asked Tina, laughing to herself. “Look Tina,” Shay said, as she made her way to the sink. “I know what I saw, I promise you. She was real. Samuel and I are both very rational people, are we not?” She asked, turning around, looking wildly into Tina's eyes from across the kitchen. “Well? are we not, damn it!” She started to yell. “Whoa- yes, ok yes-you both are very rational shay.” Tina said, now walking over to her. “It’s ok, Shay. I believe you.” Tina said, grabbing Shay and bringing her in for a hug. “Well that's all good and entertaining,” Josh said, as he stood to his feet. “But I'm done with these charades, I need a shower. so that's where I'll be, no one come look for me, unless it's you,” he said leaning down and kissing Samantha. “You can come find me if you want.” Preston shot Josh a look of envy real fast before realizing what he was doing. Samantha stood up, grabbing Josh by the hand, noticing Preston's quick glare. “I agree, enough is enough.” she said. “no more story time. I'll come with you baby.” she said to Josh, glancing at Preston. “She’s not even my girl, what do I care?” thought Preston, watching as the couple stood and began to walk out the kitchen, hearing Josh whisper to Samantha, “come on baby, let’s go get wet and slippery.” He sighed to himself. “What the hell is the matter with me?” “So you guys don’t think Shay and Samuel are telling the truth?” He asked, trying to stay focused. “Well I know we’re not lying.” Samuel protested. “Tina, you know us better than anyone here, back us up.” “Look, I hear you, I really do,” Tina said, looking away from Shay and Samuel. “It’s just- that's crazy, and we’re trying to avoid crazy, remember Samuel?” “Wh-what's that supposed to mean?” Shay asked, looking between the two. “Look, lets just all take a breath and calm down.” Tina said, looking at Shay. “no, no, by all means, what’s that supposed to mean?” Ryan interjected sarcastically. Knock it off, Beth says as she smacks Ryan on the butt. Look you guys, we are all in a cottage in the middle of nowhere, in a storm, with people we don't really know. So let's all just agree that this place and its situation can get to all of us ok. We will all get through this as long as we work together, so let's all just try please. She's right, Preston said, I think we should all take stock of what we have, we are all stuck here till the storm is over, unless someone can fly out of here and magically signal for a ride. The group fell silent as they finished up their food. Just as they got done eating, Beth looked at Shay and taped her on the shoulder. Do you think you can show me where you saw the skull she asked softly, trying to be secretive, holy fuck Beth, Ryan said laugh as he looked at her, you really bought into this hu? Look I just want to go see for myself she said, shoving Ryan a little. Well, i-i don't wanna go back out there. Thank you very much. One scary unexplainable thing is enough for me, Samuel said as he placed his dish in the sink.“It's ok, Samuel.” Shay said, standing to her feet. “I'll do it. I'll take you out there, Beth.” “Are you for real right now you guys?” Ryan said, looking up at them in disbelief. “It's wet and dark outside, for all you know some creature could be out there looking for shelter right now.” “It’s fine, Ryan, you can sit here and be a big man-baby.” Beth said, kissing Ryan on the check as she stood up. “Let’s go Shay, and thank you again.” she said, smiling at her. Ryan sat there for a moment, watching as the four walked to the door. “Fuck. wait a minute babe.” Ryan said as he ran to the front of the line. “I’ll head out first.” “Awww, thank you baby.” Beth said, letting Ryan pass her. Just then Ryan slowly opened the front door, leaning his head out he scanned the area, looking and listening for anything that might want to eat them. “I think it's clear.” he started to say, just then he jolted outside really fast, screaming. “Fuck! get back inside!” he yelled. “AAH- LET ME GO!” he cried. The girls all screamed as Preston pushed his way through and out the door, ready to slay whatever was outside attacking Ryan. As he stepped out ready to attack, he could see Ryan leaning against the side of the cabin, hand cupped and yelling to the door. “OH NO!” he continued, looking at Preston with a smile. “Don’t let it get me!” Preston rolled his eyes as he looked back at the girls who were holding onto Samuel, terrified. Beth pushed her way past Preston and stopped, standing in front of Ryan. “You're such a dick.” she said, laughing and hugging him. Samuel rolled his eyes, looking back at the girls as they followed out, I don't know what you think you're going to see? It's raining hard and it's darker than the pupil in your eye. All we will see is mud Samuel stated as he walked down a few steps till he made it to the ground. He bent over to look if anything had remained in the spot under the cabin, look he said as he pointed underneath, nothing is there, just like i said. Shay rushed over, hoping he was wrong and something was left behind, looking she got down on her knees, the mud splashing around her as the incredibly hard rain pounded to the ground. Shay reached her arm under the cabin, soaking her red shirt and the black tank top underneath it on the front with mud. she moved her hands around trying to feel for anything that they couldn't see. Shay get up, let's go inside by the fire, we don't need to be out here doing this to prove ourselves, Samuel said as he knelt down to pick her up. Shay walked back up the steps to Tina, who took her inside to wash up and change. Look you guys, I know you don't know me, or them, he said looking at Beth and Ryan. But I know we are not safe anymore at this point. I know what we saw, I'm a professor, I don't just sway quickly to the side of panic, we are very reasonable people. So i say we all stay by the fire till the rain stops then make a break for it. Beth chuckled, sorry, I don't mean to be rude, but you're like, really afraid aren't you? She asked, glancing at Ryan. Let's head inside you guys, we can talk there, Preston said as he waved at Samuel to head up. He's a right brave one isn't he, Beth said pointing to Samuel as she and Ryan walked in. Just then Tina came around the corner to hear Beth say that. Actually he can be when we need him to be, she said looking at Beth and Ryan, Beth hung her a head a little, I was just joking she said looking back up at Tina. It's just, it's scary outside, with all the darkness and the lightning. I think freaking out and trying to run away the first chance you get is crazy. What if you get 30 miles, and the storm begins and you're stuck out in it, half way from here to the city. I think we should all be calm right now, get to know one another, maybe make some friends, she said as she poured a glass of wine. There is no reason for anyone to start acting like a pussy she said turning around, it's just rain, it's a storm. It's going to pass you guys. And we have plenty of food and liquor here. We could probably even find a game to play, she said as she sat next to Tina at the table. Games are good, Tina said, looking at Beth's drink. Would you like one Beth asked, I can make almost anything you want. Yea sure, I'll have whatever you have she said smiling at Beth, accidentally staring at her enormous breasts for a moment. Beth giggled, smacking Tina's face lightly with her boob as she stood up. Oh I'm sorry, these things have a mind of their own, she said giggling and looking at Ryan, who had also noticed Tina's glance. Beth and her boob to face smack, I swear. Ryan thought and he cuckold to himself. Look, Beth is right, we have plenty of time and food. If you guys are that scared, we can always set up in the living room to keep you company. Were not babies, Shay said as she re entered the room. Samuel stood up offering his seat, yea shays right, we just know what we saw ok. We don't want to be stuck in some cabin with some no named demon is all, Samuel said standing behind shay now. Beth walked over to Tina giving her the drink, hey everyone calm down she said as she took her seat again. Look why don't we all just come up with a plan and meet back up here in an hour or two. We can either pull through this together, or you guys can be on your own, either way we'll be fine. Yea that sounds good to me, Preston said as he stood up to leave the kitchen. I'll be in the room Samuel, when you're ready to talk. Yea ok, said Tina looking at shay, I think we should all go to our rooms for a little while. Ok, well. We should all go to Samuel's room then, Shay said. So we can all talk while they go talk. By the way, Shay said looking at Beth and Ryan, I'm shay red, it's very nice to meet you. And I wanted to thank you for letting us stay here with you. Yes, said Tina, and I'm Tina Field and this is Samuel thorn. We are also grateful to you. Beth looked at Ryan then at them smiling, it's nice to meet you she said, I'm Beth and this is my husband Ryan Lu. Ryan smiled at the three sitting across from him and Beth, nice to meet you he said, and no trouble. He stood, reaching his hand out for Beth to take. Well my love, shall we get going? I could use a shower after last night he said, looking deep into Beth's beautiful green eyes. Shall we? Beth giggled, taking his hand and standing to her feet. She looked back at the others giving them a quick smile, then headed out of the kitchen with Ryan. Wow, those guys are always suggesting to sex, Tina said looking back at shay and Samuel, I mean like, right? They all laughed as they stood up. Yea i think its love, shay said glazing at Samuel then Tina. They are all just so in love, it seems they don't care who sees. The group walked their way to the room where Preston was just getting out of the shower himself. Hey guys, how did it go, he asked looking at Tina while he buttoned up his white long sleeve shirt. His long black hair wet and already brushed, hanging down his back, getting his shirt wet, making it almost transparent. Tina stuttered, u-uh well, we are going to- to uh, decide our next uh , she gulped, a plan of action, she forced out all at once, getting control of herself once more. Preston looked at her sideways, then chuckled a little bit looking toward Samuel, so what's the plan boss, do we wait for the rain to stop, or do we just leave, and when do we get a chance to talk? Well i think it would be silly to call the trip already, Tina said abruptly. I think just because some people are here, that were not supposed to be, and that just because it's raining and you Sammy boy and shay are freaking out, does not mean we should bail out. We are here for a reason, remember? We should stay. Besides, I have not seen Shay so out of her shell in years. LOOK DAMN IT! Shay yelled out of nowhere. I love you Tina ok, but I'm not joking around. I want to leave and I want to leave now. Besides, I don't think those guys even want us here, so can we please just go? Preston walked over to Shay, putting his arms around her from behind. Hey he whispered as he leaned in close to her ears. It's going to be ok. We can go if you want to, no need to worry. Samuel Tina and I won't make you do anything you don't want to. Shay took a deep breath and sighed. Welcoming the warm hug from behind, she placed her hands on his arms, yeah ok. She said thank you Preston. He's right, Samuel busted in, grabbing Shay's hand and pulling her lightly out of prestons hug and into his own hug. We should all just get some rest ok. We can decide what we do in the morning. Shay looked up at Samuel with a smile, anything you say Samuel she said hugging him back then turning to leave the room. I'll go get a nap in, I'm sure I'll feel better, Tina you should come with me. No, um that's ok, I'll be there soon. Tina said, still staring at Preston. Hey um Tina, Samuel said as he stepped in front of her, I think Preston and I need to have a chat, why don't you go make sure shay is really ok. I mean after all, it was you who got us here in the first place right, he said, guilting Tina for a moment. Yea, she mumbled, whatever, it will still work out, you will see. She said leaving the room reluctantly. Man you can be such a toad Sammy boy. Samuel looked over at Preston, chuckling to himself, then turning real serious. You brought it here he said, looking deep into Preston's eyes with such bewilderment, i told you not to get my girls involved he continued, now we see a little ghost girl whos skull melts away, and Tina thinks we are crazy, and now shay-shay is closer to break down now, more than she ever was. Samuel stepped closer to Preston, placing his pointer finger on his chest. You think cuz you're tall and strong, with your good looks and chiseled body, that you can take me, destroy everything I care for? No! Preston said as he stood there, not at all intimidated by Samuel, just kind of moved at his resolve. I wasn't trying to put anyone in danger, but my danger is very real, so I needed to act and I need your help. Samuel took a step back, well it looks like I have no choice now hu? So let's have it, tell me everything he said shooting daggers through his eyes at Preston as he sat. And just so you know Preston, the girls might be nice enough to consider you a part of our group, but I don't. As far as I see it, you forced your own issues on not just me, but all of us, everyone in this house. I understand professor, I hope once this is all over we can be friends, and if not, ill just go my own way and you will never have to hear from me again Preston re assured Samuel as he sat next to him on a char that was next to the bed. Meanwhile, upstairs. Beth and Ryan were getting ready to talk to Samantha and Josh who had been in the shower for well over an hour now. Do you think we were kind of insulting Beth asked, holding onto Ryan's arm as he walked to Samantha and Josh's room. Maybe a little he said look down at her as they walked. But I'm pretty sure they will get over it. Besides, something about that group I don't trust, and that Preston guy. He seems a little off I think. Creepy if you ask me. Oh, well look at you, drink with the guy for a few hours all buddy, buddy last night, then bam, he's the enemy. Beth chuckled to herself, baby calm down, relax ok. Besides, I think he was abused as a kid. He just never really seems to talk, Ryan said as he knocked on the door to Josh and Samantha's room. He chuckled as he pulled his hand back and began scratching his head. You know what, I think you're right, maybe I'm just worried for no reason. I guess I'm not quite myself, it must be the rain and all the new people around us. Just then Josh opened the door as he was putting on his shirt. What can I do for you guys he asked, looking at Beth and Ryan like they just interrupted something. We should all talk about what's going on downstairs, Ryan said as he pulled Beth into the room by her hand. There you go again, damn it, like you want to squish me or something Ryan, josh said half jokingly. I hope this is important he continued as he closed the door then walked to the bed, sitting by Samantha who was still in her slip. Hey Beth, Samantha said smiling at her older sister who was now sitting next to her on the bed. Hey girl, sorry to interrupt your party, she giggled. No, we were getting ready to head out there soon anyways, Samantha said looking back at josh. It was just taking longer to get dressed than we thought. The girls giggled. Listen you guys, Ryan said seriously, those people down stairs are talking about seeing shit, I don't think we should all just be comfortable around them. I really think we need to be on guard. Just in case something goes down, so we are ready. I think he's the right ladies, Josh said, looking at Beth and Samantha. If one or more of them are seeing things, we should watch our backs. What, you guys don't think they really saw anything, Samantha asked looking at Ryan then Beth. Well no honey- i -i mean it's crazy the things they were saying. Beth continued, as she grabbed Samantha by the hand, a little girl who turns into a skull, that vanishes? Do you really buy that? she asked looking back at Samantha. Well, I mean, I guess not. But crazy things always happen to us, so who says they didn't see what they think they did, she replied looking pleadingly into Beth's eyes. Besides Beth, don't you remember when we were kids, all the stuff that would happen. That's right Samantha, when we were kids. It was all in our imagination and we have grown since then. But look, you might be right, Beth continued. I'm not a brain so the chances of me knowing for sure what the world holds is not likely. But i do know this sam, there are a lot of sick people in the world, mentally ill people sam. So thinking that this place has a higher chance of ghosts than weirdos is just silly. Beth's right Samantha, Ryan said looking more serious than ever now. Josh did the right thing letting them take shelter, now we have to do the right thing and make sure we keep ourselves safe. I suppose, Samantha said as she lay there coving up more with the blanket. Ok lets go babe, sam needs to get dressed and unlink josh here, she isn't doing it with us in here, beth said as she grabbed ryan by the hand leading him out the room. Hurry up and get dressed you two, we should head back downstairs soon, Ryan yelled over his shoulder as he was being torn out of the room. shortly after, josh and Samantha met up with Ryan and Beth in the living room downstairs. There they sat next to the fireplace, watching the storm as it seemed to howl louder than ever. It feels like this is never going to end, Samantha muttered to everyone. It feels as if time has just stopped, Beth continued. I mean, really. It looks the same as it did when we went to bed, just as dark and just as wet, and it feels like not much time has passed at all. She sighed as she lent on Ryan more. Just then the group could hear shuffling coming down the hall, followed by Samuel grunting. Oh shit Sammy boy, they could hear Tina yell down the hall. Did that hurt? She asked, helping him to his feet. Well yea Tina, just a little, Samuel said holding his nose that was now bleeding. Well maybe you shouldn't do that anymore, she pointed out sarcastically, as she and Preston helped him make his way down the hall toward the kitchen, with Shay following closely behind trying not to laugh. Stopping just before entering the room fully, the four looked over to see Samantha and the others looking their way already. Samantha stood quickly, making eye contact with Preston then Samuel and Tina. Oh my goddess, what happened? Your nose is bleeding. Quickly come this way, i know where the first aid is she said walking to the kitchen door and opening it. Well Sammy boy here tipped in the halfway and wacked his face on the desk that's back there. Tina said, helping him to a seat. I'm fine, just a little dizzy, and i didn't trip, one of you guys bumped into me. He said looking at Preston. Who, don't look at me, I was in front of you, remember? Preston asked, looking at Tina who was with him. Samuel I was the only one behind you shay said, looking at the ground as she stood behind him. But it wasn't me, I didn't push you, I swear I didn't. She protested, reaching her hand out and placing it on Samuel's shoulder. I would never do that to you. Yeah, I know, you're right I must have just tripped over my feet, I can do that from time to time, Samuel said, looking at Shay and placing his hand on hers. I know you would never do something like that. Ok, ok who hit who Ryan said as he busted in through the kitchen door. Look fellas he chuckled, we all love a good brawl, but if you're going to do it, we all should have the invites no? He said as he sat next to Samuel patting him on the back and laughing. Josh and Beth came in after him, Beth, covering her eyes as she entered the room, shaking her head, trying to hide the grin she had under her hand. What happened to your friend? Josh asked, looking Preston dead in the eyes. He fell, hit his face in the hallway. Ask him, he said staring back at Josh with no intention to back down. boys , boys Tina said, making her way in between the two. Look, he fell for real. He just covered that, so let's calm down for a second. Josh took a step back, retaining his composure. No one is anything but I would say. I'm quite fine, and how about you Mr. Clear. How do you feel? Who? Me? I’m always good to go. Preston replied, smiling at the room as he took a step back and sat down at the table behind him, never once taking his eyes of josh. Finally my nose stopped bleeding, Samuel interrupted as he stood to his feet and turned to shay with a smile. Look, he said as he turned his head back to reveal to shay no blood was coming out. You don't have to cry anymore, I'm ok, it wasn't even your fault, like i said, i tripped, i was just being silly, it could have been the wind I felt anyway, it was cold, so. Shay leaned into Samuel, burying her face in his chest as she wrapped her arms around his big belly. I'm so glad you're ok she whined into his now sopping wet shirt. Blood and tears, how gross tine said as she pulled Shay off. Maybe you should go clean up Samuel. You kinda look like you got your ass kicked by a kangaroo. Tina walked Shay to the table to sit next to Preston. Yea I think you're right, I'll be right back, don't miss me too much, Samuel said as he headed out to clean up. Look, I don't know if there is something going on between you two, Tina said, looking at Preston then at josh. But we are all kind of stuck here now, right? so maybe just don't talk or look at one another till we leave ok. Starting a fight isn't something anyone wants to do right now. But just so you know Josh, Samuel would never hurt us and we would never hurt him. We have known each other all our lives. We live together. So please, before you assume anything, just give us a chance to explain. Please. Tine pleaded at Josh looking at him with the best puppy dog face she could conjure up. Josh snickered as he turned from Tina and looked at Samantha. I have no issue with anyone so far, not saying that I trust any of you, I'm just saying I am not worried about any of you just yet. As you see, I have people that are very dear to me, people that I would do anything for. So I'm just being cautious, as I'm sure you are all being? He said looking over his shoulder, giving them a big smile, then back at Samantha. Maybe we should eat dinner then play a game babe, what do you say? We could play dead bodies. I don't know Josh, Samantha said looking at the group sitting at the table. Things seem a little tense, maybe now isn't such a good time for that game. We could play rummy, or shot and ladders, you know Ryan and Beth love that one. Wait, that first one sounded fun, shay said coming to stand next to Samantha, what was that called? Its called dead body, its a murder detective kind of game, but everyone seems a little edgy don't you think? Samantha said as she looked back at the group sitting at the table. don't look at me Preston said, looking gently at Samantha with a smile, i have no issues here. The game sounds fun, after dinner of course. Josh rolled his eyes, hey see, interrupted Ryan before Josh could say anything more. See, Even that guy wants to play the game, I say let's do it, we can all have some shots and get to know one another. Well each other's deceptive skills, that is, he said laughing almost as loud as the thunder outside. speaking of diner, Beth said leaning on Samantha at this point as they stood in the kitchen next to the stove. I love you little sister, but you know what happens if i get hungry. I need my food, Samantha, Beth said ominously. What happens if she gets hungry, Tina whispered to Preston. I don't know, but I don't think I want to find out. She seems kind of scary sometimes, don't you think? Preston whispered back as they looked at one another then back at Beth and Samantha, a little curious and a little afraid. Josh chuckled, knowing what was next with this all too familiar sight as Beth was now turning Samantha around to look at her. Placing a hand on each shoulder, she began to look at Samantha squar in the eyes as if to say something only they knew. Samantha chuckled looking at Ryan and then Josh, well I guess the monster inside needs feeding, we better be on it then. What shall I make tonight for dinner she said, smiling at everyone in the room. We have steak, pork chops or I could make a nice vegetarian omelet and salad? Wow it all sounds amazing, why don't we just make everything? Preston said, drooling out of the mouth as he gazed admiringly at Samantha from across the room, making her chuckle and shy away for a moment. Because, Josh said sternly, never looking back at Preston. We don't know how long we will be stuck here for, and now that there are more of us, we don't have rations to last as long. He was just joshing you josh, Ryan said as he patted josh on the back, laughing like a hyena once more. You're too serious tonight little brother, I think a nice steak with some good whiskey will do you good. Me? Myself, i like that bourbon. And since we have both with us here tonight, we will do just fine, don't you think little brother?. Sounds like a wonderful time, you're right. Josh said, standing to his feet and walking over to Samantha. Well my love, would you like me to help you with dinner he asked, grabbing her by her hips and pulling her to him, pressing his chest against her. Or I could get someone else to cook it for you and we can just go upstairs, he said, not at all lowering his voice to evade the ears of those in the room with them. Beth laughed and pushed at Samantha, go, we can cook she said encouragingly. Oh my, Samantha giggled as she turned red. Well actually baby, you know that steak is one of my favorite meals to make. You can stay and help me if you want though. That works for me as well, Josh said, releasing Samantha slightly. I'll just go grab the apron. NO! Yelled Tina and shay in unison. Josh looked back at the girls and chuckled, then shot a daggering look at Preston, followed by a sinister smile. He then turned back to Samantha who was now too embarrassed to make eye contact with anyone. Well my love, I'm at your disposal, you tell me where you want me, and there I shall go. Samantha tossed a few onions to Josh and giggled. Well you can help by cutting those for me while I work on chopping the garlic. Josh looked at her and smiled, sure thing dear. Can I help? asked Preston, I love cooking myself, food is one of my favorite things in the world, that and rum. Josh scoffed softly to himself, trying to maintain his composure. “Hey, uh, Preston my man.” Ryan said as he walked up to him, having noticed Josh's expressions and how Preston was acting to Samantha. “Why don't you come help me and the others, buddy? let these two love birds make the food.” he said, guiding Preston out of the room. “Guess that guy can't take a hint.” Josh said as Ryan and Preston left the room. “What do you mean?” Samantha said looking at Josh, a little confused. “What do you mean, what do I mean? Have you really not noticed the way that guy has been toward you since he got here? It's clear he has a crush on you, Sammy.” Josh said, putting the knife and onion down to look at her. “No Josh.” Samantha said, not very convincingly. “I'm just the only one of us that he is familiar with other than his own group. He just feels more comfortable with me, that's all. Or maybe he is being a dick to get at you cuz you keep being weird to him. I mean really Josh, I don't know what you're worried about. After all, I'm the one who has always been chasing you, not the other way around.” Samantha said as she turned back to the garlic. “Sam, what's that supposed to mean?” Josh said, taking a step closer to her. “You know I love you. I love you more than anything in the world, what would ever make you think less?” He asked, now holding her face in his hands. “Well, it's just that, Beth and Ryan share so much more, I feel like you don't want me too close, even after all these years. Sometimes I wonder if it's because of what happened in the caves all those years ago.” Samantha said softly as she placed her hands on his. “I feel like you disappear and never want me to know where you go where you've been. And sometimes I feel like I don't even really know you anymore Josh. I'm scared I'm losing you, or that I never really had you at all.” “Don't be silly, Samantha.” Josh said, looking lovingly into her eyes. “No one has ever had me other than you, I have and will always be yours.” “Yea, ok, I guess. I love you, Josh, please try and not go too hard on anyone, it's a crazy time right now. We should do as you guys said and keep things calm, ok?” “Yea, you're right.” he said, pulling away slowly from her and turning to the onions. “I suppose I got a little jealous, that's all.” Samantha chuckled. “I haven't seen you jealous since high school. Oh Josh, can you hand me the asparagus, please? I think I left it next to you.” Just then Beth came into the kitchen. “hey you guys, I'm going to make some drinks, want me to make you some as well? I was thinking of breaking these out before we play dead bodies.” Beth said, pulling up her purple velvet pouch and flashing what was inside. “Holy fuck Beth, what are you thinking? Put that away, now!.” Samantha said as she turned away from her and looked back at the garlic. “Now isn't the time, we don't even know these people.” “Now is the perfect time Sammy, don't be such a chicken shit, jeez.” Beth moaned back at her. “Hey babe,” Josh said, tapping Samantha on the shoulder with the asparagus. “Maybe your sister is right, I mean, I would be down to try some.” Both Beth and Samantha looked at each other then at Josh with shocked expressions on their faces. “I mean, if you're sure.” Samantha said, smiling and trying to hide it. “Ehh, not such a pussy after all, huh Josh?” Beth said, slapping him on the back. “Maybe I'll just slip out there with some drinks and see who is down to really party.” “Wow Beth,” Samantha laughed “you're glowing right now, you're so excited for this. I'm about to fry the onions, garlic and asparagus, so it's going to still be about another 20 minutes before dinner is finished.” Samantha told Beth as she pulled the steaks out of the fridge. “Can you ask everyone how they would like their steaks while you're out there?” “Yea, yea, sure thing Sammy.” Beth grabbed the drinks, trying to balance them all with her arms and hands. “Beth, take this.” Josh said as he held a plate out. “Maybe it will help, seems big enough for all those cups, you're going to spill on your way out.” “Eh, just four drinks for me, I think it would work out in the end.” Beth chuckled as she took the plate and headed out of the room. “Your sister is crazy sometimes, Samantha. You know that, right?” Josh chuckled as he approached her, placing his arms around her and kissing her cheek. “But the good kind of crazy, the kind that keeps things from getting boring.” Samantha chuckled, knowing full well that Josh was right. “Hey you two, I have the orders.” Beth yelled as she entered the kitchen again, but this time with empty dishes. “One rare, three medium rare, and two well done. That should cover every one but you two love birds. oh, and please,” Beth continued as she turned to walk back out the door, leaving the dishes on the counter. No special sauce, Josh, keep it for later, ok you two?” She chuckled heading out the door. “Oh my god, leave it to Beth.” Samantha chuckled as she began siring the steaks and adding her own special blend of seasonings. “Ok babe, I'll be in the living room until you call me in here, unless there is anything else you need.” Josh said, kissing Samantha on the lips and turning to wash his hands. “Well, someone will need to draw up the roles for the game, so why don't you and Ryan knock that out, i'll finish the dinner here, and Beth, well.” Samantha trailed off. “Beth can handle the guests.” Josh chuckled. “Right! Oh, and can you look for Baby Charlotte? I have not seen her, and I don't want Beth to worry just yet.” “Oh that's right.” Josh said as he grabbed some paper pens and a pair of scissors. “To be honest babe, I completely forgot about all of that ‘till now. You know, with the new people and everything.” “Yea, I think Beth has just been in a state, so she hasn't noticed yet either. I'm pretty sure I saw Ryan looking for her last night. I could see shadows outside the door and I could hear someone whispering. I could have thought I heard him say he was going to go outside.” Samantha said as she started to make the first plate. She grabbed the parmesan cheese out of the fridge and put some all over the asparagus, onion and garlic mix. “You might want to hurry babe, with the roles. The steaks won’t take long at all now.” “Already on it.” Josh said as he walked out of the kitchen. Samantha turned back behind her to get a cup for herself out of the cupboard, when she thought she saw something out of the window. She approached it as looked outside the window, waiting for a lightning strike. Holding her breath, not sure what she was about to see. the lightning struck! Crack! Just then Samantha thought she saw a creature standing outside the window, looking in at her, she screamed for a second then she looked back out the window. “nothing, nothing is there.” she thought “but I know what I saw, what was that, was that hair?” She wondered. “What was it doing? It looked like it was standing over a fox. “Calm down Samantha, you haven't even taken the drugs yet.” She thought out loud as she turned away and back to the stove. But she was right, there was a creature standing just outside the window, and it was lurking over a dead fox. Samantha had no idea that the very rabbit she was having Josh keep an eye out for, was just in an epic battle. After the dark mist invaded baby Charlotte's body. Wet cracking noises could be heard as the bunnies body began to contort and shake. The rabbit's eyes shot open as she stared at the stars in such agony, wishing she was dead. Her pupils began to change, she now had what looked like three eyes in one. A mirror effect. the purple of her eyes had turned into a red misty skull, as the rest of her eye remained jet black. Her teeth had become razor sharp, cutting at her lips, and her fur had been stained with her blood. Her wonderful white fur now had sections of hot pink on her body and the fur on her head had turned to a jet black, as well as the fur on her belly and her cute fluffy little tail. There was even a black circle around one of her eyes now. Baby Charlotte no longer looked the same, you could hardly see the original her in there. The poor defenseless bunny lay there, wishing for the pain to stop, wondering what and why this was all happening to her. she thought about how her friends would be missing her, little Kirk and poor Charlotte, once she was out of the hospital that was. How was she ever going to get back to them? She remembered Charlotte telling her that they would need to help that tall lady they called Beth. that She wanted Baby Charlotte to go with them, and just as she was saying that, she got hit by that car, the bunny thought as she whimpered out loud. Just then the fox had come back around, wondering if it still had food for the night or not. “What's that?” baby Charlotte thought. ‘Crack, Snap.’ “It's that wretched fox again, isn't it?” Just then out into the light of the lightning, she saw the long snout of her attacker. “Is this it?” she wondered as the pain in her body was finally coming to an ease. “Am I going to die here? I'll never see Kirk or Charlotte again, will I?” The poor bunny lay there, contemplating her demise, wishing she had stayed and waited inside, Stayed with Beth like her friend told her to. Just then she heard something screech, “NO! You will live, and you will fight. So get up, don't let us die here like this. Not after everything.” The rabbit shifted her eyes side to side, frantically looking for who had said that. The fox approached slowly, not too sure if the rabbit was finally dead or not. He got over to her and lent over, sniffing her body to see if the bunny was in a state to fight back or not. The fox’s mouth began to drool, his eyes became wild, and he lunged for her throat once more. Just then, Baby Charlotte’s arm shot out, gripping the foxes neck with her tiny little bunny paw. She whipped her head into the direction of the fox, shot him an eerie grin, and then snapped his neck. “Guess you don't need to worry about dinner tonight.” she told the foxes lifeless body as she began to gut the fox with her claw. “What am I doing?” she thought to herself. “Why am I doing this?” “We need food, you must eat.” Baby Charlotte turned around as fast as she could. “Who's there? Who said that? Don't come any closer, I-I don't know what I'll do.” She looked all around her, seeing only the trees and bushes with every strike of lightning. “I'm here with you, don't worry now. Just feed us.” the voices screeched again. Not knowing why, Charlotte began to eat the insides of the fox. “Make sure you clean him out well.” the voice spoke. “We want to keep the furry fox.” “Keep the fox.” she thought. “Why do I want to keep the fox? what will I need him for? he is dead after all.” Just then the trees cracked and she could hear a loud smash. Baby Charlotte looked around, then grabbed the remains of the fox and hopped behind a bush. From under a tree stump crawled another creature. This one was bigger than the fox and the bunny. This creature crawled, digging its fingers out from underneath the mud, pulling itself out of a hole and out from underneath the tree stump. The bunny sat in the bushes, not too far away, watching, waiting for a good time to run. “Uhhg!” The creature cried as it pulled itself out. “Almost out. keep going, Touka!” “Touka.” Baby Charlotte thought. “That name sounds nice, strange name for whatever that creature is.” Touka pulled herself out from under the log that covered the hole she was in, sitting down in the mud next to it, breathing hard. “I-I made it. Ha… ha ha hA HA HA! And they said I would be killed trying to escape.” She thought out loud. “It’s touka.” the voice in baby Charlotte's head said. “Touka made it out, yay! Touka!” another voice screeched as it rejoiced. “What? Who is touka?” the bunny thought, “and why do I care?” “You don’t.” The first voice said “we do, we care. You're not alone anymore, little bunny rabbit, have you not figured that out yet?” Baby Charlotte looked around once more. “No, it can’t be. You mean that voice, you! You're inside of me?” She began to panic. “get out, get out, get out!” she cried, now tossing the foxes body out from behind the bush and at Touka's feet. “What is this?” Touka thought as she picked up the fox. After realizing what it was, Touka fell silent as she looked around, trying to see where it had come from. She laid the fox down on the ground and stood to her feet. “See, now you did it, she knows we’re here.” said the voice. “I said get out!” Baby Charlotte yelped as she fell out of the bushes and landed at Touka feet. “Oh. Hello little one, what are you doing out in this storm?” Touka asked as she bent over to pick the bunny up. Touka gasped softly as she lifted Charlotte and saw her eyes. “So that's where you went, isn’t it? That means this fox is meant to be your shelter, right?” She asked, looking sideways at the bunny. “Well, are you going to answer me? Raju? I know you’re all there.” Touka held the bunny up looking into her eyes, Charlotte didnt know why, but she felt safer with Touka. safer than she had since her friend had got hit by that car. “What have you done to this Rabbit, Raju? Answer me.” Just then Charlotte began to speak without any control of her own, and used real words, as if she was talking like the humans do. “I saved this bunny, Touka.” the voice screeched. “She lives, she does, she does. Together we live, yes we do, yes we do.” said a third “what’s going on?” Charlotte thought. “I don’t understand!” “It's ok bunny, we stay together, yes we do, yes we do. And now you stay with us, we will keep you safe and you will keep us safe, yes you will, yes you will.” the same voice answered back. “But I don't want any of this!” she cried back into the dark abyss. Just then she could feel Touka placing her claws on her head, “is she going to kill me?” Charlotte thought. Just then, Touka began to pet the bunny's head as her claw morphed into a human’s hand. “It's going to be alright, little one. I'm sure you're terrified right now, you know nothing of what's happening, and I'm sure you just want to get someplace safe and warm. Just trust Riju, they will help keep you safe, and we will stay together. all of us.” Touka lifted Charlotte to her eye level. “I’m sorry Riju had to inhabit you for survival, but I'm glad they saved your life. I can sense that you have a pure heart and a strong will. It’s going to be okay.” Touka set Baby Charlotte down next to the fox. “Now, we need to make this fit you.” she said, smiling at Baby Charlotte. “Make that fit me?” Baby Charlotte thought to herself. “Yes! Yes! We will wear him, and thank him for his life and for feeding us.” the third voice screeched at her. “Warm. you will be warm.” It continued. Touka and baby Charlotte then began to head toward the cabin. “What are we doing?” she asked, shocked that it came out in a way that Touka could understand and respond to. “I have to try and warn these people of impending danger. Then, we need to get as far away from Akem as possible.” Touka said, narrowing her eyes “Who is that?” Charlotte asked, looking up at Touka through her fox head hoodie, as she hopped alongside Touka. “Someone too dangerous for you to want to meet.” Touka said as she stopped, looking down at baby Charlotte. “Not Akem, not Akem.” the same voice said repeatedly. “But don't worry, we might not be around long enough for him to notice us.” Touka said, looking behind her at the window to the kitchen. Just then, the lightning struck. ‘Crack!’ Hitting the ground next to baby Charlette's feet, making her jump back. Just then, Touka saw Samantha, looking out at them through the window. “Go, quick!” she yelled to baby Charlotte. “Don't let her see us yet!” Charlotte and Touka jumped out of sight and behind the trees. “Did she see us?” Baby Charlotte asked. “No, I think we're okay.” Touka said as she forced a smile down at her. “I'm glad there was enough of the fox to make both you and I coats to keep warm.” “Yes, us too, us too.” said Riju as Baby Charlotte leapt over to Touka. “Me too.” she said, looking up and nuzzling her nose into Touka's stomach. “We need to find a way in, and a way to talk to them.” she said as she began to pet Charlotte's head again. “I think I can get us in, just follow me, Touka.” Baby Charlotte said as she leapt off Touka's lap and began to hop to the cabin. Meanwhile, Samantha was getting the rest of the plates ready and setting them at the table. “What did I see?” She thought to herself as she placed the plates down. “Were they shadows from the trees? Or maybe I'm just tired. Either way, it’s probably better if I don't say anything.” “Oh good, looks like you're ready for us.” Josh said as he entered the kitchen, looking at the delicious food on the table. “Just about, the rolls will be ready in two minutes, just enough time for everyone to come and sit, will you go get them?” Samantha asked. “Yea, sure thing babe.” Josh went out of the kitchen to gather everyone as Samantha placed glasses of wine down. “Oh my, it looks soo good!” Tina said as she followed behind Josh into the kitchen. “Oh my god, it's like a restaurant dinner.” Shay added. “The smell is amazing!” Samuel said as he took his seat next to Shay at the table. “Wow, you did all this huh?” Preston said as he looked at Samantha with a big smile. “Well of course she did.” Josh snapped. “she said she would make us all a fine dinner and so she has! It’s amazing baby, just like you are.” “Yes,” Preston added, looking only at Samantha, “I agree, this meal looks perfect, as I'm sure you are.” Josh scoffed. “Everyone, please take your seats.” Samantha said as she walked to get the rolls. “Here you are, some nice hot rolls.” she smiled “And I have two sticks of warm butter floating around the table for everyone.” “So about this game, dead bodies,” Preston asked Samantha. “How do we play this?” “You will all draw a piece of paper from the hat,” Josh interjected, stealing Preston’s gaze. “Ryan and I have made some strips of paper with roles written on them. There will be one murderer and seven witnesses.” He continued. “We will turn all the lights off and everyone will scatter into different directions. If you are a witness, then you go and hide, if you are the murderer then you go and kill people with out getting discovered. To do this, you must touch the person on the shoulder, letting them know you have killed them. Then that person must lay down ‘till either they are discovered or the game has ended. If you discover a body, you must yell out ‘dead body’. Then we all meet in the living room, and we can either vote on a killer or move on. If you vote and it’s the wrong person, then you die.” “Oh this game sounds easy.” Tina said with the utmost confidence. “I bet I'll be the murderer!” she proclaimed proudly. “Oh, speaking of dead bodies,” Beth interjected. “I have a little gift for everyone, now, you don't have to accept it, but if you want to, it’s here.” Beth placed her purple velvet bag in the middle of the table. “Wh-what are those?” Shay asked as she peered into the bag. “Those look like dried up mushrooms. Like, as in, the drug kind.” “There not drugs,” Beth proclaimed, “they grow in the ground, everyone just has a slight allergy to them that makes us get a little silly is all.” “Really?” Asked Samuel rolling his eyes. “Well I'm down!” shouted Tina. “You know me.” she said as she looked at Shay and Samuel. Shay and Samuel looked at one another, then chuckled. “Oh my god, this sounds fun.” Ryan said “I can't wait to get going.” He then ate some mushrooms, gagging he took a drink. “Watch out, those buggers are dry as shit.” “Well normally shit isn't dry,” Samuel added. Unless it's been a few-” “I know, thank you sir.” Ryan interjected. “So full of information, aren't you?” “Well, you know? I do know a moderate amount of everything.” Samuel boasted. “Wow.” Shay said, placing her hand on Samuel’s back and laughing lightly. “You sure know how to make me laugh.” “He thinks he’s so smart.” Tina added, looking at Shay. “Hey now, leave him be. He is very intelligent, he is just “flexing” a bit.” “Flexing?” Asked Samantha, overhearing their conversation. “Yea, I hear some kids in my class say it. I guess it means bragging, but cooler.” “Oh my god.” said Beth, as she rolled her eyes. “I don’t know but,” she chuckled. “I don’t think I like the sound of flexing. seems like something men do without a shirt on.” The girls looked at one another and laughed. “Ok, so let’s see this hat.” Preston said. “I would like to draw first.” “Oh, looking for the safest route, huh?” Josh said. Poking at Preston. “Why am I not surprised?” “Oh, Well then I'll go last.” Preston added. “I don’t doubt my luck, I’ll always win.” he said, looking deep into Josh's eyes.“Your luck won’t save you from skill.” Josh replied, looking back into Preston’s eyes with just as much persistence. “This fool.” Preston thought. “Something about this guy, I don’t like it. and how did he get such a woman like Samantha anyways? What am I thinking? I'm here for an entirely different reason. But I just can't, all my thoughts go to that blasted woman. She is all over my mind.” “Hey, did you hear me?” Josh interrupted Preston's thoughts. “I said, it’s your turn. We all went. Draw your role.” Preston reached into the bag and pulled out the last piece of paper. He looked at it, then at everyone else around the table. seeing that everyone was partaking in the mushrooms, Preston reached into the bag and grabbed a handful. “I don’t know how much to take.” he thought, as he looked over at Samantha, who still had hers in her hand. “I bet she knows what she’s doing, I’ll just take what she is.” Samantha, in the meantime, was thinking to herself. “Maybe if I asked Beth on the downlow, she would tell me how many to take without drawing attention to us.” Samantha herself had a handful, unsure how much to eat. Just as she went to pop them into her mouth, Beth placed her hand over Samantha's. “no, no, honey.” she said, looking kindly into Samantha's eyes. She smiled. “you only want two bulbs, max. you don’t do this normally so maybe just one. Go slow, ok? don’t think about anyone else, just what you and your body can handle.” Samantha paused, looking at her hand. “thanks sis.” she said as she placed half the mushrooms back. Unfortunately, Preston had been quick to act. He had taken all the mushrooms in his hand, which was like, 5 of them. “Okay everyone, time to head into the living room.” Ryan said, gesturing for everyone to stand and follow him. Everyone piled into the living room, sitting on the couch and pulling chairs to the coffee table. “We all have our roles now, so here is what we do,” said Beth as she turned the lights off, leaving only the glow from the fireplace. “I’ll set a two minute timer. It's loud, so no matter where you are in the house, you should hear it.” Beth said as she placed the timer on the coffee table. “Once it goes off, we are out of time to hide. Now go!” She yelled enthusiastically. Everyone scattered into different directions. Samantha headed to the kitchen, while Beth headed to the bathroom upstairs in her room. Samuel went to the basement while Tina hid under the bed in Samuel’s room. Preston moved to the kitchen as well, hiding under the table, Ryan headed to the hallway closet as Josh headed to the main hall’s bathroom. The lightning cracked and flashed, the thunder roared louder than ever. Sounds of haunting screams came from the forest, fighting their way towards the cabin, Scratching noises grew louder outside, on the windows, the doors and the walls. The timer rang, clicked and finally made the buzzing sound everyone had been waiting for. Just then the murderer came out of thier hiding spot, lurking around the corners, listening for any sound, looking for any light. Samantha breathed heavily, her heart pounding as she could hear the kitchen door open and close. She could tell the murderer was opening up the cupboards. She placed a few pots in front of her as she scooted further back into the cabinet she was hiding in. Just then, the doors opened, someone placed their hands in, feeling around, moving the pots that were making her wall of protection. “No light.” she thought to herself. “No light, no light, no light.” Just then the doors closed and the murder sounded like they had moved on. But just as she went to reach for the cabinet door, it opened once more. This time, whoever it was, grabbed the biggest pot and pulled it out, Samantha curled back into the cupboard as much as possible, pulling her body into the fetal potion as much as she could. The hand reached in more, Samantha slid a pot in front of her knees slowly, to not make a sound. Just then the murders fingers hit the pot, pulling them back quickly. They then shut the cupboard doors just as fast. “Oh, holy fuck!” she thought as she took a deep breath in, hesitant to let it out. Just then, she could hear more shuffling in the background, followed by a door closing. Samantha slowly crawled out from her hiding spot and looked around the dark kitchen, that only had the occasional flicker of light from the lightning. “No one seems to be in here.” she thought, just as a shadowy figure rose in front of her. “Wh-what the hell is that?” she thought, trying not to scream. Just then, the figure reached out, placing it’s hand on her shoulder. “Samantha, is that you?” it asked. Knowing the sound of their voice, Samantha opened her eyes and asked, “Preston? Is that you?” “Yeah.” he said, pulling her in for a hug. “I was freaking out, I think Maybe the mushrooms.” he said. “Really? You feel them already?” she asked. “How many did you take?” “Well, I just took a handful like you did.” he said confidently. “Oh my god.” Samantha chuckled. “I was about to ‘till Beth stopped me.” “Wh-what? how many did you take?” he asked, looking a little concerned. “Well,” she chuckled. “I only ate about a top and a half. So I think you might be going deeper into your journey then I am, but don't worry.” she said, trying to calm Preston who was now a little freaked out. “I’m here, I'll help you, but we have to hide. I don't know who the killer is at the moment, and I think I may have used my luck already. She took Preston by the hand and led him into the basement. Samantha led Preston down the stairs, hitting a can over as she reached the bottom. Just then they could hear a low squeal. “S-Samuel?” Samantha asked hesitantly. “We're not the bad guys, are you here?” “Samantha?” He asked from the dark abyss, reaching his hands out to try and feel for her. “Yea, it’s me and Preston.” She replied. “You stay here, hide better, ok? we will find a new spot.” Samantha then grabbed Preston by the hand, as he clutched on tighter this time, thinking to himself, “this is happening, she's trying to save me right now. Am I flipping out?” He thought as he saw red and orange colors swirling together as if they were in a lava lamp. Then Preston felt a tug as he was pulled up the basement stairs and into a hall closet. There, they stood next to one another as the shelves dug into their backs. “Well,” said Samantha “It’s a tight fit, but it will work ‘till we relocate.” Preston began to laugh, “sorry-sorry.” he forced out. “I-I can’t control it.” “It’s ok.” she said as she grabbed his hand and held tight. “Beth has told me so many stories, we got this. I must say, I have been feeling things as well. Paranoia, fear and excitement.” “Hey Samantha, you know when we met on the plane?” Preston began. “Yeah?” She said. “I was wondering, how did you know what to do so fast?” He asked, now looking in her direction, not quite seeing her due to the dark. “Well, I was a nurse for a while. But we kept getting these patients where we could not quite identify their deaths, So I took some time off. Josh really held the fort for me, I owe him everything.” Just then, Preston felt sick to his stomach. “Do you mind if I ask you something?” he suggested while he hallucinated more lava flowing orbs around Samantha’s body. “Yes but, just wait. I think I hear someone.” Just then, the murderer came by, running their fingers along the walls, and across the door. Scratching them. And just like that it was gone. “We should move.” Samantha suggested. “Maybe you’re right.” Preston agreed, as he clung to Samantha's hand and let her drag him along. “Here.” she said as she pushed him into the hall closet at the end of the hallway, next to the garage door. “They call this a Harry Potter door.” Samantha said as she led him to the end of the hallway and had him turn right with her. “We should be ok.” she said, clenching his hand tighter. “No light, whoever it is may get scared before even making their way to us. Let’s hold out here for now.” she suggested. Preston looked up at her, in the dark he could still make out her face line with how close he was. “Can I ask you now?” he continued. “Ask me what?” she replied, looking back into his eyes, breathing heavier than before. “How did a guy like that get a girl like you?” “Like me?” she asked, confused. “What do you mean? Josh is amazing. He is intelligent, strong and quick to think. It's me that's lucky-” She protested. “No it's not,” Preston interrupted. “you’re amazing, you're strong, kind, smart and good at cooking. You seem like you're more open as to where Josh is, cold.” “He’s not cold!” Yelled Samantha. “you don't know what he's been through! what he's overcome!” “You're right.” Preston said as he looked deeper into her eyes. “I don't know! But I do know this, you give off a feeling of home. And that isn't something you come across easily.” Samantha looked back at him, just as deeply into his eyes. “Look Preston, I love Josh, we have our issues, and yes, I'm attracted to you. I have been since the plane. But know this now, I'm with Josh. I would like us to be friends, but I am with him.” Preston took a deep breath in, and sighed it out. Just then, he felt the comfort of warm lips on his. Samantha had just kissed him! holding his hand tight. “but I won't lie.” she said. “I can’t stop my thoughts about you, it’s just I can't let them happen either.” Preston smiled and sighed at once. “It’s ok, I understand. You’re a good woman, I respect that.” Just then they could hear more shuffling below them. just then, the murderer was making there way into the basement when Samuel felt a touch on his shoulder. Of man, he sighed, guess I'm out already, do i have to stay down here? He asked. Wh-what? Samuel? is that you the voice asked. No way, Shay replied. I thought I saw you head this way, she continued, I was hoping I was on the right path. Shay chuckled, your good Samuel interjected. I can't believe you found me. He pulled Shay in for a hug and pushed her on the wall behind him, completely hiding her from outside forces. He looked up at her slowly as his soft bellies shadow pressed against Shay's tiny silhouette in the background of the storm. Just stay here, he insisted, if they come ill make a scene so they don't find you. Wh-what? Shay said, flattered. No, Sammy boy, if you go I go. Sammy boy? Samuel asked. You never call me that. Well maybe I'm just more open to the idea now, she proclaimed. Samuel chuckled as he turned to look behind him. Hey shay, he asked, too shy to look at her. Yea? She said looking at him, wondering if he was going to look back. At her. About Tina? He started. I know, she interjected. Just, not now ok? She pleaded. We have been drinking, and taking new things. I just feel like this is something to deal with later, not now you know? Samuel looked at Shay, pressing his body against hers, pushing her more into the wall behind them. No! You're right, he said as he ran his fingers through her hair. We should wait. But what about this Preston guy? How do you feel about him? he asked as he ran his hands across her stomach and across her bra. He's cute, she chuckled. But hes kind of dumb. Good thing he has his looks and strength she said, unaware of the concerns she created in Samuel. What do you mean he asked, you like his looks more, he stated, pulling his hands back. I guess I could see why. No! No, no shay proclaimed. Samuel, she sighed. Look, I know this is crazy, and I’m sure you have not thought of this yourself. But I have something i want to say to you. Samuel looked back at Shay, approaching her slowly and placing his hands on her hips. Just then, upstairs. Beth was hiding in her bathroom in the closet at the end of the room. She crouched as she had the towels in front of her for protection. She could hear someone bump into the door jam as they entered the bathroom. Oof, she heard the mutter, opening up cupboards and shuffling through things, finally they had reached the bathroom closet. Pulling towel's out, reaching all the way back. Beth pushed her body against the wall. Praying she wouldn't be discovered. Just then, as her stomach felt that heart sinking sensation. Beth felt it, the cold chill of a hand touching her leg. Just then she peered through the darkness, seeing the cold daggers toss at her from the killer's eyes. She knew at that moment, there was nothing left. She must now sit, wait, and play dead. Knowing who the killer is but never able to tell. Good, they did good, she thought to herself as she lay there, half out of the closet playing dead, hoping someone would come soon so she could scratch the itch above her eye. At that moment,
Tina was hiding under Samuel’s bed, hearing something, But she couldn’t make it out. “There it is again.” she thought. “What the hell? Is that cracking? Is someone cracking their fingers? No, that’s not it. It's more like…” she thought for a moment. “Bones cracking? What the hell is going on out there? Do they do this as a part of the game to get people out into the open? Well those idiots don’t know who they're messing with, I’m Tina fucking Field, baby! But still, that sound.” she thought, crawling a little closer to the end of the bed, hoping to get a sight of who it was and what was going on, without being caught. Just then, Tina saw something dart across the room from the corner of her eye. “What the hell was THAT!” She turned her glance in the direction she thought it went. Just then, she saw a second body in the room. “What? Two murderers?” she asked herself. “I don't remember that being a thing, Maybe the game’s over.” she thought. “I'll wait and see what they say.” Tina lay there, trying to make out who was in the room with her when she felt something soft push against her hands. Startled, she looked down, surprised to make out what looked like a little bunny rabbit. “Awwww.” she thought, cuddling baby Charlotte, not even worried about the other two figures standing next to the bed. “Hurry up Touka.” Baby Charlotte thought as she continued to try and keep Tina focused on her. “The human girls sure go crazy over some fur, don’t they? As long as she keeps snuggling me, Touka can get that creature outside, then we can take it from there.” Baby Charlotte nuzzled her little wet nose into Tina's face more, licking the tip of her nose. “Oh my god!” Tina squealed softly “no one told me they had a bunny here, you are just the cutest. I can't wait to get you outside and check you out! I bet you're the cutest, sweetest little bunny aren't you? Are you a boy or a girl?” Tina wondered. “Well for now, guess we will have to hold up under here together till it’s safe to move.” Tina looked back up to see where the figures had moved to, shocked to not see a trace of anyone in the room with her. “Wh-what? Where did they go?” Tina panicked. “Are they above me? Did they hear me talking to the rabbit?” she thought. “Did I give away my potion?” Tina was too afraid to move, she looked around the room wildly, hoping to get a glimpse of anything that might help. Just then, Baby Charlotte wiggled herself free from Tina’s embrace, darting out the room through the door that was left open just a crack. “Oh no.” Tina thought. “I didn’t even get to show Shay the bunny. oh, she’s never going to believe me.” Tina sighed. “Oh wait-” she thought. “No one said anything about the rabbit, that must mean I’m alone.” Tina crawled out from under the bed slowly, looking around the room as she came out. She looked down the hall, not seeing anyone around. Tina made her way to the end of the hall, where she turned and headed upstairs. “I’ll have to hide someplace else.” she thought, making her way down the hall and into Beth’s room. “There, I’ll hide in her closet, that should be a better spot for sure.” Tina thought. “I’ll even leave the door open so it looks like no one is in here.” She chuckled to herself as she sat in the back corner, covered by a couple boxes that were tucked away. “Tina fucking Field.” she thought. “That’s right.” Just then, Ryan was on the first floor, still stuck in the hallway closet. “Well this sucks.” he thought to himself as the jab of an umbrella persisted on poking him in his side. Ryan moved the sleeve of a jacket from his mouth and sighed. “This was not the best place to hide, I think. Maybe I should head out and get a more comfortable one.” he thought. “Bet I can find Beth.” he chuckled to himself. “I wonder where she went to hide, or if she is the killer. She never makes a good murderer.” he thought to himself as he chuckled. “In that case, I could be here all night. Where would be a better spot?” he pondered to himself. “Anything should be better than this. oh, I know. Maybe I’ll head down to the basement. That's a dark creep spot. No one wants to go in there.” Just as he was getting ready to peek outside the closet door, he heard footsteps coming and doors opening. “Oh shit!” he thought, “this is, I’m a dead man, Maybe I can hide under one of the coats. Fuck.” he thought “I’m too big and sexy to fit under these puny things called coats.” he boasted as he chuckled a little to himself. “Well one thing is for sure, once this person gets me, I'll make sure to sprawl out all over the floor. That will give me enough room to hang out till someone finds me. Just then, the door knob began to shake and the door began to slowly open. Ryan's heart pounded as the door cracked open, letting some moonlight shine through. “Whelp this is it, I'm done for. This spot was not a bright idea.” Ryan thought to himself as the door slowly began to open more. Just then, Tina was looking out from the boxes she was behind, making contact with Beth's cold, anxious eyes. “Hurry up and call it!” Beth screamed in her head. Unable to fight the itch that had been tormenting her eyebrow. Tina looked across the room and into the bathroom as she sat in the closet, startled at first, and then shocked how scary Beth looked as she lay there, “is she really dead?” she thought. “Did they plan this game to kill us off?!” Tina panicked “are they going to eat us? is this a murder, death kill pact that we walked into?” Tina screamed in her head. “No, calm down Tina, you're freaking out. It's a game. Just call it.” “Just call it!” Beth thought as well. “DEAD BODY! DEAD BODY! DEAD BODY! DEAD BODY!” Tina made her way to the light in the room and turned it on. Finally, Beth said “I have had an itch for ever, my eyebrow-scratch it please.” she asked, looking at Tina. Chuckling, Tina did as she was asked. “Why didn't you just scratch your eye?” she said, looking at Beth. “Well you're not supposed to move, it helps determine how you die.” Beth said, giving Tina a smile. “I can move after, but not ‘till everyone has seen me, I'm stuck here. I'm not supposed to talk either.” she chuckled. Just then, footsteps came running up the hall. “Who is it, who’s dead?” Josh said as he entered the room. He looked around and spotted Beth, he chuckled to himself. “Really, Beth? you died already? Beth just looked away, choosing not to address his comment in any way. Just then, Samuel and Shay piled in behind Josh, followed by Preston and Samantha, then Ryan. Everyone stood around Beth, looking at her. Samantha moved over to stand next to Josh as Samuel and Shay piled in around Tina. “Oh I'm so glad you're not dead.” Shay said, hugging Tina. “Are you the killer?” she asked. “No! No one is to tell there rolls unless under question and if you can't prove it, you're out.” Ryan said, shooting a sinister look at Shay and Tina. “It’s him I bet.” Shay whispered to Tina as she looked back at Ryan. “And by the way,” Ryan added. “If you call someone out to be the killer and they are not, you die with them.”. Preston laughed “yea, that’s a good catch. Way to really make you think about things before you do anything.” he said as he looked over at Samantha from across the group, then back at Tina and Shay. “Well?” Josh asked, looking at Tina. “you found her, what is the evidence you didn't do this then it's a self report.” “Well, first I was hiding in Samuel's room, that’s when two people came in the room and a bunny.” “A bunny?” everyone said. “You saw Baby Charlotte?” Samantha yelled joyfully, looking back at Beth who was grinning on the ground. “We forgot to tell you all, we have a bunny at the moment and that we needed everyone to make sure the doors to outside stay closed. So where did she go?” Samantha asked, looking back at Tina. “Well, she left. But once the other two people had gone, so then I moved up here and hid in this closet.” “Two people you said?” Samuel asked, looking around the room. “I thought only one murderer.” “No, you're right.” Ryan added. “It is only one murderer. I was alone the entire time.” Ryan proclaimed. “I was downstairs in the hallway closet. I can prove it. I can name the amount of coats and show you where an umbrella was relentlessly trying to puncture my ribs.” Ryan lifted the side of his shirt, showing a circular red spot. “I was hiding in there when Tina called out, but I don’t think Tina is the killer, because before she yelled out, someone was trying to get into the closet. “and they were slow as all hell. so I don't think it was someone running to hide in a new spot.” “Well, thank you.” Tina said, smiling at Ryan now. “Don't line with the enemy.” Shay said, grabbing Tina’s hand and looking her in the eyes. “I don’t trust him.” “Relax, shay.” Tina said “He’s just someone voting in my corner for now. Play the game.” she chuckled as she glanced at Shay, then Samuel. “Well it wasn't Shay.” Samuel added. “I know because we were hiding in the basement together.” “Not on purpose.” Shay added, looking at Tina. “We just kind of wound up down there together.” “That's where I was going to head too.” Ryan interjected. “Before someone decided to try to open my door.” “I was in the main hall’s bathroom.” Josh added. “I figured no one has gone in there all day, why would they now?” Josh smiled as he held Samantha closer to him. Samantha hid her face in Josh's shirt, trying to avoid Preston's eyes. “I can’t believe I kissed him.” she thought, thinking about how soft and warm his lips were, but feeling guilty for it. “I never should have, it was the dang mushrooms. The only reason I’m feeling things like this, the damn mushrooms. I’ll just tell Josh what happened.” she rationalized to herself. “I’ll tell him it was a mistake and it didn’t mean anything. oh- but what about Preston? He is such a nice guy, I don't want to be mean to him. I should talk to him as soon as possible.” she decided. “I’ll let him know how I feel about all of this, then maybe he won’t get hurt so much. Samantha peeked outside Josh’s shirt at Preston, upon hearing her name being called. “Wh-what?” She asked, looking around. “Where were you hiding, babe?” Josh asked, looking at her. “Oh, I-uh… I was-well, you see…” Samantha panicked as her thoughts raced a million miles an hour. “Oh fuck! I’m fucked already, this is bad!” she thought. “Josh wont understand due to the circumstances!” “Well, I was outside.” Preston interrupted. “But you're not wet.” Tina laughed as she placed her hands on Preston's chiseled chest and started to feel his arms. “You’re dry all over.” she said with a smile. “Yeah well, I stayed close to the side of the house, so-” Preston started as he looked at Tina and slowly pushed her off of him. “In this weather?” Josh asked. “The wind is moving in all kinds of directions.” “I don't know you guys, Preston is sounding very suspicious.” “Well, I can always show you where I stood, to ease your scared little mind, Josh.” he said, looking at him with a smile. Deep into his eyes, as if he was saying that Josh was a chicken shit and Preston had no fear of him. Josh’s thoughts raced. “This jerk. He is so damn lucky we are here and not back home. I would love to handle this guy myself.” Josh though. “The way he stalks around Samantha, who the hell does this guy think he is anyways?” “Look, buddy.” Josh said, cool as a cucumber. “I don’t need to go outside, I don’t care enough really. I’m just pointing out, I don’t trust you.”. Preston chuckled. “Well, I know Samuel and Tina are safe.” “and I know I am safe.” Shay said, interrupting the male display of testosterone. “Ryan seems like he was telling the truth. So that’s another person I think is safe, for now. “Samantha,” Shay called out. “You never told us where you were.” Samantha looked at Preston, amazed at what he had just done for her. she smiled and turned to Shay, letting her know that she had hid in the hall closet that was next to the garage. “I heard that door open a little while after the game started.” Samuel said. “That was you?” “Y-yea, the murder had found my original spot.” she continued. “So as soon as I could, I got out of there.” “So someone found your spot and didn't find you, but you were where?” Asked Tina. “well I was in the kitchen, then I headed to the closet down the hall.” “And you didn’t see Preston?” Tina asked. “Well, no. It was dark, and as soon as I could I made my way down the hall for a new hiding spot.” “Hmm.” Tina added. “That sounds more like Preston might be our guy. After all, everyone seems to be accounted for but you, Preston. You seem highly suspicious.” Tina sighed. “So how do we do this? Do we all have to decide? Or is it a one person kind of thing.” “Well, we could all agree, then that person would be out and we would know one way or another if they were the murderer, or, one person calls someone out specifically, risking their own life if they are wrong.” Josh said as he stood in the middle of the circle, looking at everyone. “So how should we do this?” he asked. “I, myself, feel like we need more information, or that Preston is the murderer.” Preston snickered as he turned his head. “Well I don’t know who the murderer is yet, but I know its not me.” “Well, I don't know who it is yet either.” Samantha added as she glanced at Preston, then Josh, then back to everyone else. “I think more information is needed as well.” “Well,” Samuel said softly as he looked up at Tina, then Shay. “I think more information could be useful as well.” Samuel was hoping to get a little more time alone with Shay. “I think I know what she wanted to tell me.” he thought. “But I won’t know unless I get her alone again.” “Yea, ok.” Shay said, looking at Tina, then to the others. “I could wait.”. Ryan looked around. “Honestly, I don't know who the hell it is, but I was scared shitless for a moment.” he laughed. “I'm having so much fun, I say we go to the kitchen, take some shots, and head back out again.”. Preston laughed and glanced over to Samantha, who was watching Tina as she locked on to Preston. “Well I for one, think that it’s Preston!” Tina interrupted. “And I want to call it. I think you’re the bad guy, good looking. and I'm the one here to bust you.” Tina said seductively as she slowly walked toward Preston, twirling her short blonde braid in her fingers. Preston laughed. “You are really adorable, Tina. Anyone ever tell you that?” Tina blushed, looking away for a moment. “So how about it big guy?” She asked, placing her free hand’s finger on his chest once more. “Are you the bad guy or what?” Preston smiled at her as he pulled his role out from his shirt’s pocket. “Well, Tina, you're good, you see.” He said as he handed her his strip of paper and fell silent. Tina unfolded the piece of paper slowly, grinning as she opened it. A grin that quickly faded into a look of despair and regret. “You're just not that good.” Preston continued. “So it looks to me like, you're dead now and I'm safe the entire rest of the game.” Preston laughed as he pulled her in for a bear hug. “It’s ok, kiddo.” he said, placing a hand on top of her head. “It was a good try, though. So how about it?” he asked, pushing her back gently, and making eye contact. “Are you the bad guy?” He asked. “No.” Tina sighed “here is your paper and mine.”. Preston reached over, taking the two slips of paper from Tina. He laughed out loud as he read her role. “Well, there you have it.” he chuckled. “We are both victims.” “yea, but you're not safe.” Tina said, smiling at Preston. “What do you mean? Everyone knows im a victim, not a murderer.” Preston said, looking back at her. “Right!” She boasted. “So the killer is going to go for you next.” she laughed as she turned to Beth, walking over to her and taking a seat on the tub. Beth laughed as she crawled to her knees then sat next to Tina. “Well, I guess that means we know this. Tina, Beth, and Preston are safe.” Shay said, looking at Samuel. “I know you're safe, and you know I'm safe. So that leaves Josh, Ryan and Samantha.” “Well, I don’t think it was Samantha. We heard her hide in the closet and she didn't get out too long before we made it up to the door.” Samuel added. “Well, let's just say we don't know about her yet.” Shay said grabbing Samuel's hand, Not seeing the look that Tina shot when she saw how Shay had grabbed his hand. “Well, it leaves Josh and Ryan. If that is the case,” Samuel said, looking over at Josh, then Ryan. “I kinda think Ryan’s safe. I think it’s Josh. He has been way too quiet, and was really pushing the Preston thought on everyone.” “Okay! Everyone ready?” asked Ryan, getting everyone’s attention. “We should head to the kitchen now and start the second round.” Everyone piled out the door, down the stairs, and to the kitchen, laughing and chattering along the way. Samantha headed in first to get everyone more shots. “Now the murderer better step their game up!” Ryan yelled out to everyone. “Whoever they are, better not keep me waiting in a dinky, tiny-ass closet all night. Not that that's where I'll be hiding.” he chuckled. “Well, whoever it is, I hope they really get us with a shocking reveal.” Josh added, Looking at Preston. “Ok, everyone. on three,” Samantha said as she handed out the shots. “One, two, THREE!” The group took their shots and then turned the lights off. “Remember everyone, one minute, and then when you hear the timer, it’s begun.” Everyone scattered off into different directions once more. This time, Preston headed to the main hall’s bathroom, hoping to catch Josh doing something. Samuel grabbed Shay by the hand and headed to his room. About the same time, Josh had grabbed Samantha's hand, heading to their bedroom's bathroom. “Teams, huh?” Ryan shouted out as he headed out of the kitchen on his own. “Who needs teams?” he chuckled. Ryan hid behind the couch in living room, hoping to catch someone trying to be a murderer. “Uh, maybe not.” he thought to himself. “Actually, maybe I’ll head into the kitchen, just hide around the girls. At least I’ll have Beth’s company.” Ryan turned around, making his way back into the kitchen when he heard Beth chuckling. “Yea! Ryan is a big lovable teddy bear!” she laughed. “He does mean well, you know? He just wants his family safe, that's all. It’s not like he really has anything against any of you.” Beth said on behalf of Ryan. Ryan smiled and creeped in, hiding behind the counter, listening. “He seems friendly enough.” Tina said, smiling through the dark at Beth. “I think your Josh friend really isn't happy we are here though.” she continued. “I mean, it must have been hard to let us in out of nowhere, and we’re not just, like, one or two people. we’re four. Which matched your group, so I could see the hesitation. I just hope nothing bad happens to anyone.” she said, looking at Beth, concerned. “No, you don't need to worry, Ryan will protect everyone, It's who he is. He just-” she sighed as she smiled to herself. Ryan, seeing her through the glow of moonlight, smiled to himself. “He just wants to help people, that's all he really wants. So he will handle Josh, I'm sure of it.” Beth said, a little louder now. The girls paused, placing their hands over their mouths as they looked around, then laughing. Just then, Ryan chuckled to himself. “who-who’s in here?” Tina asked. “No, you can't ask.” Beth said, laughing. “I think I know who it is.” she chuckled. “But whoever it is, needs to stay quiet.” she whispered loudly. Just then, Josh called out “DEAD BODY, DEAD BODY, DEAD BODY, DEAD BODY!” “Wow, that was fast.” Beth said as she turned the lights on. “Just then, Ryan popped out from behind the counter, trying to startle Beth. “Boo! Did ya miss me?” He asked walking quickly over to her and pulling her in for a kiss. “Cuz I sure missed you, baby.”. Beth chuckled and looked at Tina. “See, I thought I knew who it was.” “Let’s go, you guys.” Tina laughed, opening the kitchen door. The group headed upstairs where they saw everyone standing over Preston. Preston looked over at Tina and sighed. Tina laughed as she pointed at Preston. “Told you that you would be next. Preston looked away as he chuckled to himself. “What happened?” Samantha asked, looking at Preston, who was on the ground. “I heard talking, then I came out and found him like this.” Josh said, looking back at Samantha. “Where was everyone at?” Shay called out. “Well, Josh and I were in the bathroom, in our room.” Samantha said, ‘till Josh left to go see what the noise we heard was.” “Well I was in the kitchen with my sweet lady over here. I can’t vouch for you.” Beth said, looking at Ryan. “I'm dead, remember?” “Well, either way, that’s where I was.” Ryan said as he scratched his head and laughed. “Well,” Samuel and I were in his room.” Shay said, looking over at Tina. “Oh, sticking close, eh?” Tina said, laughing while she poked at Shay. “Teams seem to be a good idea right now.” Shay chuckled as she pushed Tina's fingers back. “Yea sure, that's what you say.” Tina whipped back. “So It’s Ryan then?” Samuel asked as he looked over at him. “That or it’s Josh.” “What? How can it be Josh?” Samantha asked. “He was with me and then we heard a noise and that’s when he left.” “After someone was shuffling around. Well, that may be the case,” Samuel said as he walked into the middle of the group. “The way I see it is, we don't know for sure about Ryan’s whereabouts, and Josh was the only other one besides Preston to be alone. So those are the two suspects. maybe one more time,” Samuel suggested “Then I’ll make a vote.” “ok,” Shay agreed. Josh looked around the room then back to Samantha. “I think It’s best if we wait as well. Maybe next time I'll get a look at who it is.” Josh said, looking at Samantha encouragingly. “Ok, I’ll wait then as well.” “As for me,” Ryan said looking at everyone. “I'm going to call it, I think I know who it is.” Beth laughed. “How could you know who it is, Ryan? You have been in hiding the entire game.” “Well I think It's Samuel.” He said, pointing at him and smiling. “It makes sense, That Shay girl seems to really like him, and Tina said that she saw two bodies in the room with her. I was alone the entire time, Josh was the first time, as were Preston and Samantha. They are the only ones who have stayed together since we started, therefore, Samuel is the murderer and Shay is coving as his alibi. Ryan pointed as he laughed. “Tell me! Am I right?! Am I?!” He yelled out as he laughed harder. Samuel handed over his slip of paper to Ryan, avoiding any and all eye contact. Ryan opened his slip and began laughing more. “Oh my.” he yelled. Samantha looked at Josh, and Josh at her. “Is it him?” Samantha asked, looking at Ryan now. “Why are you laughing so hard? Is it him?” She demanded. “NO!” Ryan laughed out so loudly that everyone kind of leaned back. “It’s not him, or me! Here, look for yourself.” he laughed out even more as he handed over his slip. “Looks like it’s me and you, Beth. Even in death, you get stuck with me. Ryan said as he leaned on Beth, kissing her neck. “Oh boy.” she replied sarcastically. “Just as I was enjoying some one on one girl time.” Beth, Tina and Ryan laughed. “Well, that leaves me, Josh, Samuel and Shay.” Samantha said as she looked at Shay. “So one of us is the murderer.” Shay said, looking at Samantha and Josh, knowing it wasn't her or Samuel. “Well,” Ryan said “should we do this again?” The group headed back to the kitchen, where they took their shots and split off again. This time, everyone agreed to go in their own directions. Preston sat in the kitchen with Ryan, Beth and Tina, wondering where Samantha was, and if he could slip away and have just a few more moments of her time. “I can’t stop thinking about her, all I want to do is be close to her, I don’t understand.” Preston tortured himself. “It’s like all I want to do is live life next to her, breathe her sent in. she's making me crazy!” he thought. “Why do I want this woman so damn badly!” “Hey, did you hear us?” Tina asked, pulling on Preston's sleeve. “Huh-what? What did you ask, sorry I was deep in thought.” Preston said, now turning his attention to the people around him. “We asked if you got a look at who it was.” Beth asked. “oh- yea, of course I did, didn't you guys see who it was?” he asked, looking around the table. Everyone leaned in closer. “So who is it? Who’s the sneak that's been killing us?” Tina asked impatiently. Just then, Samantha was hiding in Samuel’s room under his bed. “Could it be Josh?” she thought to herself. “Or maybe it’s Tina. I mean, it's not Samuel, but what if Ryan just had it backwards? it very well could be.” Just then, the room got colder and what looked like mist started to fall in through the bedroom window. “Wh-what the hell is this?” Samantha thought to herself, not alarmed at what was going on around her. She crawled out from under the bed, heading to the window in a rush. “Who left this window open?” she thought as she approached it. Just then, out of the corner of her eye, she saw someone, or something, standing in the doorway of the bathroom. Samantha was too frightened to turn around, so she stood still, watching it from the corner of her eye. Breathing slowly, shakily. Wondering what she was looking at, but too afraid to really look. Just then, she could hear what sounded like wet bones cracking as it approached her. Reaching its long fingers out, drawing in closer and closer. The moonlight shining on the outline of the creature. It got closer and closer, so close that it was almost about to touch her. At this point, Samantha wanted to make a run for it, but her feet were stuck. Her body, unresponsive. Her panic turned to terror. Samantha tried to yell but couldn't make a sound. She looked everywhere she could without moving her head, not able to make anything out clearly. Nothing other than the long, dark claw-like fingers she saw coming in closer and closer to her eyes. The figure stopped just before it could touch her. Samantha breathed harder and harder, whimpering, trying to yell as her terror turned to dread. She could see what looked like tiny worms coming from the tall, dark figure. Wrapping their way around its finger as they made their way toward her eyes. “P-p-please…” she muttered through her lips, “Please don’t do this.” she pleaded, still unable to move. Just then, what looked like five worms sprawled out into a circular formation, where they all seemed to stop and looked at her. Then all at once, the worms opened their mouths to reveal several rows of razor sharp teeth, outlining their mouths. just before lunging at her eyes. Just then, Samantha fell back to the floor, finally about to move and speak, she screamed for help, scrambling to her feet. Samantha looked around the room, and felt all over her face. “Wh-what the holly fuck was that?!” she thought out loud. “I know someone was here.” Samantha made her way to the door as she could hear the footsteps of everyone coming to her rescue. “What's the matter?” Josh yelled as he burst through the door, with the others not too far behind him. ”I-I-” Samantha stuttered. “There was someone in here, and it wasn't any of us.” She forced out. Josh quickly started looking through the room, then out the window. “Did they climb out this way?” he asked, grabbing Samantha by the hand and looking her over. “N-no, he, they, it's just gone…” she stuttered. “It?” Shay asked, looking concerned. “Ye-yea, I don't know.” Samantha said. “I think maybe I just need to go lay down, I'm sorry you guys, I don't mean to ruin the fun, I just think the mushrooms are getting to me.”. Tina and Ryan sighed, making Beth laugh and Preston chuckle. “It’s fine, babe. I’ll take you to bed. Josh said as he reached for her hand.” “No, that's ok honey, I'm going to head up alone, you stay down and have fun.” Samantha insisted. “W-what? Are you sure?” Josh asked, looking worried. “Yea babe, I'm fine. Really, I just need to be alone for a minute, I'm sorry.” Samantha headed to her room, avoiding eye contact with anyone. “Is she ok?” Shay asked, looking at Josh and Ryan. “Yea, she just needs some rest. I’ll go check on her soon.” Beth interjected. “Let's all head down to the kitchen, shall we?” cheering broke out as everyone made their way back to the kitchen.
I just need to get some rest.” Samantha told herself. Then everything will be fine. Samantha unsnapped her bra, then removed it completely before she laid down to try and get some sleep. The room was dark, and Samantha was falling asleep when she noticed she couldn't move once more. The air grew cold and she couldn't scream. “This is a nightmare.” she thought to herself. “How is this happening?” Samantha could see her breath now, her heart raced, pounding so hard she thought it might climb up her throat. She gulped as she could feel something slithering up the bed. “It's on my legs!” she panicked in silence as she could feel whatever it was getting closer and closer to her face. “Hello, Samantha.” the creature said in a raspy low growl, as drool dripped into Samantha's mouth. “Oh my fucking god.” She thought to herself. “I felt that, its spit is in my mouth, I can't do anything! Am I going to die? Will it take me over and make me kill everyone?! helppppp!” She screamed in her head, praying for someone to rescue her. The creature laughed a snorty kind of laugh as it stuck its tongue out, licking the side of Samantha's face, leaving behind a slimy snail trail behind. Samantha squealed softly as she trembled, trying to break free, or at least make some kind of noise. She wanted to close her eyes but couldn't, so she waited, staring the demon in its eyes. The creature then slid its round to her eye, slipping it in under her eyeball and into her eye socket. Samantha screamed in her head as this demon rolled her eye on his tongue, never pulling the eye out from the socket. Saliva seeped down her cheek as the demons course, hot tongue continued to rape her eyeball. “I'm going to fucking eat your eyes, Samantha.” it whispered. “You don't mind, do you? I mean it's not like you're using your eyes to see in the first place.” The demon's mouth opened wider, showing circular rows of razor sharp teeth. “Please stop.” she pleaded in her head “don't do this, leave me alone! Help!!!” The demon drew in closer and closer, she could feel the heat from its breath and the sandpaper like tongue scratching her eyeball all over. The light turned on as Beth ran to the side of Samantha's bed, grabbing her shoulders and shaking her awake. “Who-oh, Samantha, wake up, you're having a bad dream.” Just then, Samantha shot straight up in her bed, looking past Beth and into the darkness of her bathroom. “Sam, what's wrong?” Beth asked over and over as she shook Samantha, trying to get any reaction out of her at all. “Hey honey, look at me.” Beth said as she turned Samantha's head toward her. Samantha turned her eyes abruptly, looking into Beth's eyes, then a few seconds later, she began to just scream. “AAAAAH!!!” She yelled, making Josh run into the room out of fear. “What's going on?” he asked as he bent down in front of the bed and placed his hands on Samantha, trying to calm her down. “Oh my god, Samantha.” Beth said panicked. “What the hell happened to your eye?!” she asked as she pointed to Samantha's face. Josh looked over at Samantha, turning her face more to him so he could see. “Oh my god baby, your eye.” He said hesitantly. “Your eye is all black. all of it, except-” Samantha, who was in shock, looked at Josh, “except what?” she asked, almost unfazed. “Well it's your pupil, it's red now. baby, what the hell happened?” Josh asked as he stood to sit next to Samantha on the bed. “We need to get her a doctor!” Beth said, panicking and starting to tear up. “Something isn't right, look at her!” “No.” Samantha said softly as she looked at the ground. “No, Beth, I'm fine. I feel wonderful, actually.” she said as she looked up at Beth, looking deep into her eyes, like she was trying to find where Beth's soul was. Just then, someone started knocking at the door. “Who the hell is that?” Josh asked as he shot a look at Beth. “I-I don't know, hang on, I'll go look.” Beth said as she slowly opened the bedroom door. “Um, who ever is trying to fuck with us, you better stop or ill kick your fucking ass!” Beth yelled out the door. “Well? Who was it?” Josh asked, confused. “No one replied. No one was there or running down the hall.” “What?” Josh asked, looking confused, then looking at Samantha as he ran his fingers through her hair. Just as Beth walked into the room and closed the door behind her, more banging began on the door. “h-ho-holy fuck!” Beth yelled as she jumped back from the door. “Holy shit, who the hell is that?!” Josh yelled as he charged the door. Reaching for the knob as the banging got louder and louder, Josh opened the door. “Nothing.” he said, pissed off at this point. “No one is there.” “Josh-Josh, maybe it's the wind.” Beth suggested, trying to calm him and her down. Josh and Beth looked over at Samantha who had been quiet for a while now. Samantha sat there on the side of the bed, humming to herself as she stared into space. “Sammy?” Beth asked as she slowly approached Samantha. “Are you-are you alright?” Beth reached her hand out to place it on Samantha. Just then, Samantha fell silent. No humming, no sighs, not even the sound of her taking a breath. Then she lunged at Beth, grabbing her around the throat and squeezing with strength she never had to begin with. “H-help!” Beth choked out, “J-Josh!” Josh who was already trying to get Samantha off her sister at this point “I’m trying, Beth! she’s like the fucking she hulk!” Just then, Samantha elbowed Josh so hard in the gut, it sent him flying into the closet, where the door slammed shut and locked. Samantha began to whip her head side to side, and back and forth as she cackled and drooled all over Beth. Squeezing harder and harder. “I'm going to die.” Beth thought to herself. Terrified and confused. Hoping her sister was ok but not understanding what was going on. Just then the lights went out, Samantha gripped tighter “I'm going to break your fucking neck, you slut!” She laughed as she continued to squeeze. Just as Beth was about to go unconscious, the bedroom door flew open with Preston walking in and turning the lights on. “What the fuck are you guys doing in here?” He asked as he looked around the room. Beth gasped for air, scooting back trying to put distance in between her and Samantha. “O-out.” she coughed “hurry and get out. I-It’s not safe, Samantha’s l-lost her mind.” Beth said as she rubbed her neck and blinked her eyes rapidly. “Preston, go before-” “What are you talking about, Beth?” Preston asked as he entered the room, kneeling down next to her on the floor. Preston placed a hand under Beth's arm and began to slowly help her to her feet. Just then, Josh came out of the closet, gasping for air as well. “What the fuck, Samantha?!” He said as he looked around the room. “Whoooa- dude, chill out.” Preston said coming to Samantha's aid, who was tucking in bed fast asleep. “She’s sick, why don’t you try and be a little supportive.” “Wh-what? no! How the hell is this possible?” Beth asked in a panic. “she was just trying to kill me! She tossed Josh into the closet! her eye-look at her eye! It's all black, except her pupil, that's red!” She said frantically. Preston laughed, looking back and forth between Beth and Josh. “Are you two-” He asked, pointing between them. “Are you two tripping the fuck out?” He laughed. “I think you guys are, oh my god this is fantastic,” he laughed harder. “Poor Samantha, laying there all sick, while her hubby and her sister trip out together next to her.” “Wh-what!” Demanded Josh “It’s nothing like that! you weren't in here, you didn't see!” “I saw.” Preston interrupted, “I saw Beth choking herself, while Samantha lay in the bed asleep, then you come busting out of the closet like you just got caught having sex, that's what I know.” “Look, It’s been a long night, maybe you two should sleep it off.” Beth looked at Josh, still rubbing her neck. “Well, I mean,” She started “when he came in, it was just me on the ground. Maybe he is right, maybe we took too many mushrooms.”. Josh got to his feet and fixed his collar. “Yea, it’s very possible. Maybe that tool is right, maybe we need some rest, Beth.” “tool! Who the hell are you calling a tool? I just came in and stopped one of you from killing yourself and the other, well, who knows what you were doing in that closet alone, Joshy boy.” Preston said in a condescending tone as he turned and walked out of the room. Beth and Josh headed to the side of the bed, looking down at Samantha. Just then, Beth chuckles. “What's so funny?” Josh asked. “Nothing, I was just thinking I'm glad.” She was asleep and didn't see us. That would be embarrassing.” “Beth- I don't think we were just high.” Josh said as he lifted his shirt, pointing to his ribs. “I didn't give that to myself, how could I have. He said, looking concerned. Well maybe I gave it to you, you know? Beth suggested. I mean I was strangling myself after all. But I've never had shrooms affect me like that before. maybe…” Josh said, looking suspiciously at Samantha, who was still sound asleep. “Let’s head back to the others, I’ll come in and check on her in a little while.” Beth suggested. “Yea, alright.” Josh agreed reluctantly. The two made their way down stairs and into the kitchen with everyone else. As they left the room, turning the lights off, Touka made her way in through a portal she created. “I didn’t know you could do that!” Baby Charlotte said, all kinds of giddy. “Well,” Touka began “I can't do it for long, or go very far, I’m still trying to improve.” “oh look, is it food for us?” The raspy voice of Riju whispered. Baby Charlotte looked over to Samantha, who was out cold on the bed. “No, Riju. She needs our help, she isn't f-food. Hurry now, before it's too late.” “Touka, can you save her?” Charlotte hopped onto the bed, nuzzling her wet little nose onto Samantha's cheek. “She’s really nice, you know. She helped me get all cleaned up, and fed me.” “It’s ok, Charlette.” Touka said as she reached out, rubbing the top of Baby Charlotte’s head. Touka sat next to her on the bed, placing her claws on Samantha. “She feels off… Something isn’t right!” Touka said as she pulled Baby Charlotte off Samantha, placing the bunny on the ground. “Stay back, I don't think this is Samantha!” Just then, a black misty cloud came from Samantha’s mouth, manifesting a figure in front of Touka. “Oh. Touka, my dear. You're still here?” A voice growled out from the figure. “I thought you would have been dead by now, fed to the rest of the demons in the seventh circle. You're too late for this one,” the voice continued. “But feel free to have one of the others, Akem will be pleased if we get rid of everyone here quickly.” “Get out of that body! N-now, Chasm!” “What do you mean, Touka?!” Chasm screeched. “How about I just finish you off as well?! You filthy half-demon!” Just then, Touka grabbed onto Chasm and pulled him into a portal she had created under their feet. “NOO! Touka!” Baby Charlotte and Raiju yelled after her. “Where did she go, Raiju? Where is she?” Baby Charlotte asked frantically. “We don’t know, I say, we don’t know! Find Touka, Find Touka! Raiju screeched. “Wait, she said she can't make portals far, right? She has to be close then.” Baby Charlotte and Raiju made their way out of the slightly open window in the room, Leaping outside in time to catch Touka and Chasm fighting. Touka lunged at Chasm, reaching for his thick, muscled throat. Touka bit down hard, and dug her claws into his back, trying to rip him open. Chasm’s tail swings around, whipping Touka in the eye, nearly putting it out. She jumped back, and Chasm took a step back, leaning his head down and charging Touka, aiming to stab her with the spikes that lined his spine and the top of his head. Chasm is a tall demon, he has hooves for feet and big long fingers with razor sharp nails. His body, almost completely void of hair, all over other than just above his hooves and at the end of his thick tail. Chasm charged at Touka as she got to her feet. Touka sprung over Chasm’s head as he charged her, landing behind him and reaching out for his body with her big, sharp claws. She missed, then swung with the other hand, missing Chasm again. Chasm turned to look at her. “i’m going to eat the fucking shit out of you, Touka! you’re dead meat!” He yelled. “My dead meat!” “Bring it on, you hideous donkey!” Touka replied with the utmost confidence. “Donkey? you’re calling me a donkey?!” Chasm yelled as he ran at Touka once more. This time, Touka ran back at him, sliding between his legs and pulling him to the ground. She then flipped over as fast as she could and climbed on top of chasm. “Now who’s-who’s food?!” She laughed maniacally, drooling as she dove down, taking a massive chunk from chasm’s neck. Just as Touka was about to rip into Chasm and eat every last inch of his flesh, the porch light turned on, making them both vanish into their hiding spots. Touka made a portal where here, Riju and Baby Charlotte jumped through, and Chasm made his way back into the house. “Did we do it?” Charlotte asked, looking at Touka, who was bleeding like crazy. “Touka, you're bleeding!” Riju said as Touka turned to face them. “Haha, y-yeah, looks like Chasm got to me after all…” she said, covering the hideous, deep, bloody wound running across her torso. Tokua fell unconscious, landing on a pile of leaves. “Oh no! Touka!” Chrollet screamed. “Wake up, Tokua! don't leave us!” “What the hell was that?” Preston asked as he playfully shoved Ryan. “Did you see that?” “No, you drunk, all you saw was the lightning and shadows.” he laughed as he turned and headed back inside. “Huh, I'm not drunk.” Preston said, laughing as he followed Ryan back inside. “Ok everyone, I think I'm headed to bed.” Tina said, laughing as she picked her head off Shay's lap. “yea, I'm about ready as well.” Shay added, looking at Samuel. “I think I'm going to head up with Tina and sleep, what are you doing Samuel?” Shay asked. “Well I'm out as well, then. Besides, we don't even know what time it is.” he laughed holding up his cell phone, which was still frozen on 2:22 AM. ]
