Chapter Three…
(The Entrance Exam - Part 2.)
26th of February 2170:
It has been a few hours since Izuku entered U.A and began the first part of his exams. But, three hours had passed, and now he was now eating his lunch before returning to the exam room. When he finished his theory exam, he made his way out of the exam room so as not to attract unwanted attention. It helped that he could wear a hood cape, like a few of the students did.
Not wanting to be disturbed, Izuku went to find somewhere quiet so that he could think about the exam. Finding such a place, Izuku thought back to the answers that he had given and believed that even though Bakugou was sitting next to him, he didn’t do as bad as he feared he would do. Sure, Izuku felt he could have done better if Katsumi wasn’t sitting next to him, but he suspected that he still got a passing result either way. Now, all he had to worry about now was the practical part of today's exams.
As Izuku thought about the practical exam that afternoon. He had two plans for dealing with the exam, it all depended on the situation. The first plan was to use his power armour as much as possible. Whilst he was able to use five percent of One For All, he wanted to prove a point that with the right tools, a male could also become a hero. That meant that he had to use his suit as much as possible.
But at the same time though, he would have to show off that he had a quirk so that they could teach him how to use it in battle and to save people. So, his second plan was that unless he was forced to use One For All beforehand, he would only use it in the last few minutes.
Before Izuku knew it, as he was figuring out how to handle the next part of the exam, he realized that lunch was over, and he had to return to the exam room to learn about the practical part of today's exam. As he returned to his seat, he watched as the rest of the examinees returned to their room and took their seats.
As the other examinees waited for the afternoon's examiner to arrive, they began to whisper to each other, talking about what the practical exam might be like, and what they would need to do.
For Izuku, he just sat there and waited for the orientation to begin. As he had no one to talk to, although he also wanted to keep a low profile so that no one noticed that he was one of five males there.
They didn't have to wait for long, as after a few minutes, the lights went dark and everybody went quiet, wondering what was going on. As they looked around, a spotlight shone onto the podium, and behind it, they saw a figure come from behind the curtains and walk up to the podium. The person was none other than the Pro-Hero, the Voice Hero: Present Mic.
“For all you examinees tuning in, welcome to my today's show! I’m your D.J for today, the one and only the Voice Hero: Present Mic!” Announced Present Mic, shifting into her radio persona, “Now everyone say, hey!”
She was met with silence though.
“Okay, I see you’re all keeping it mellow I see.” Present Mic said with a shrug, “That's fine, I'll skip to today's main show, I'll present to you the rundown on the practical exam. Now, are you ready!?” Present Mic called out as she struck a pose.
But she was met with more silence, although Izuku was quietly muttering about Present Mic and how he listened to her show every week. Not only that but muttering how amazing U.A had teachers that were also Pro-Heroes. He was in full geek mode at that moment, unable to hold it in much longer. Although that didn’t last for long, as Katsumi told him to shut up.
“Now my listeners, as it says on your application requirements, you listeners will be conducting in a fifteen-minute mock urban battle.” explained Present Mic, “Now, you can bring anything you want to help you in the battle. Once we’re done here, if you haven’t bought anything but would like to use something to help you, you’ll be given thirty minutes in our Support Department. You’ll also be given half an hour to get ready before you’ll be taken by coach to one of the specified Battle Centres which you can find out on your test cards. Okay?”
As she said this, she pulled a remote out of her pocket and clicked it. Doing this, activated the screen behind her. On the screen, there was a big box with ‘you are here’ written in it, then there were lines connecting to seven circles with letters within them, A, B, C, D, E, F and G.
She was once again met with silence.
Although, Katsumi said, “Ah I see they are splitting us apart so that we can’t work with our friends or classmates.”
“Y-You’re right. Although our examinee's numbers are consecutive, we're assigned to different Battle Centres.” admitted Izuku as he looked at Katsumi's card, which showed that she was going to Battle Centre A, whilst he was going to Battle Centre B.
“Damn, I was really looking forward to crushing you.” said Katsumi, which made Izuku laugh nervously, “To show you that men really can’t be heroes and are weak.”
“Okay, listeners, let me explain how this mock battle will go down.” Present Mic told them, making it so Izuku couldn’t think about this for long, “In this mock battle, you’ll be facing five different faux villains in each centre.” here, the hero clicked on the remote again, where a stylized cityscape appeared on the screen, then, appearing around the cityscape, there were silhouettes of the faux villains. The first three villains were scored from one to three, but the fourth one though was scored at five. Looking at it, Izuku realized that the reason for the last one scoring for more, was that it was a flying type and so the hardest to deal with, as the other three were land types. Then another one appeared, above the cityscape, there was a robot with a score of zero above it.
“You'll earn points for each of them based on their level of difficulty.” explained the blonde hero, “The goal in this trial is simple my dear listeners, all you must do is to use your quirks to raise your score by immobilising the faux villains. Be warned though, attacking other examinees or any other unheroic actions, is a U.A no, no, you dig?” she informed them as she waved her finger in a dismissive manner, saying it was a no, no, “If found doing so, the judge on-site will remove you from the battleground and you’ll fail the exam and won’t make it into our school. Now listeners, if you think this is going to be as easy as defeating the faux villains, think again.”
Then clicking on the remote again, the silhouettes of the villains disappeared, replaced with silhouettes of people, children, adults, and adults holding children or pushing strollers. “We’re at U.A are training you to be heroes, and to help you understand what to suspect as heroes, we have humanoid-looking robots that we call Civilian Bots in each of the Battle Centres. These are Bots that you must look out for, like real civilians, they’ll get in your way. As in real life, civilians often get in your way, panicking, trying to run from the fights or not sure what to do, or trying to find loved ones and the like. So, these Civilian Bots will do the same, it’ll be up to you to protect them and make sure they don’t get injured or killed. Once you save a Civilian Bot, you’ll have to take them to an underground ‘safe-zones’ where they’ll be saved. So, should you come across a Civilian Bot, and they get injured or killed, you’ll lose points. So, you know, these ‘safe zones’ are there for you too. Should you get injured, you can make your way to one of these zones and you’ll be safe there too. But once in there for yourself, you are unable to leave until after the exam is over.”
There were a few whispers at this news, shocked that they would be losing points if they allowed these Civilian Bots to get injured or killed. But they were happy to hear that there were ways to regain those lost points, that was until Present Mic said, “I won’t be telling you how you can get these points. As like in real life, heroes don’t always get the information until they are at the scene, even then, they don’t learn everything until the very last moment or not at all. So, in the exam, you’ll only learn if you got any extra points when you get your test results in about a week. So, during the exam, if you see anything suspicious then I would suggest that you check it out if you have problems with points, as you might get a few extra points.”
People were whispering about this, when a female with dark blue hair, with silver-framed glasses, stood up where Izuku saw that she was wearing a smart-looking light blue shirt and black trousers. “Excuse me, ma’am, may I ask two questions?”
“Go ahead.” the hero told the young blue-haired girl.
“On the printouts that we were given, there are clearly five types of villains listed on it, not four!” stated the girl, instead of asking anything, “Such a misprint would be the height of embarrassment for the top-tier hero academy for Japan! We, examinees, are here in this place, because we wish to be moulded into exemplary heroes.”
To Izuku, this girl seemed to be a stick in the mud, and someone had to pull the stick out of her ass. Not that he would say such a thing to her.
“Thank you, Examinee Number 7111, for the question, I was just about to get to that one.” Present Mic thanked the blue-haired girl, “Now, as you have seen, the fifth villain type is worth zero points, they are an obstacle that we’ll be throwing in your way at some point of the exam. There's one in every Battle Centre. Think of it as a hurdle that you must try and avoid. I’m not saying that it’s impossible to defeat them, but there's no point in doing so, so I recommend that you listeners try to avoid them and try and deal with the other villains.”
“Thank you for explaining that to us ma’am.” Examinee 7111 said with a deep bow, “My next question is about that boy up there.” she said as she pointed up to Izuku, “What is he doing here other than disturbing us with his muttering? The General and Support Studies Exam are finished and so, he should have gone by now.” Here, this made all the females realize that he was there, he and the other four males that were there, but trying not to get noticed just yet. This caused the females to whisper, trying to figure out what was going on.
Present Mic sighed. “Always at least one every year…” thanks to no males really passing the exams, or Eraser Head expelling the male students on the first day, and so not making a name for themselves. It was no surprise that people have forgotten that the law had changed years ago where males could take these exams.
“Okay ladies, let me explain!” Present Mic used her quirk to quickly quiet these young ladies down, “Now, for the men, they have been allowed in the Hero Course Exams for years. But none of them ever made it, for one reason or another, so the news about them doing so has all but forgotten.” Present Mic explained in her normal voice, “We get about ten to twenty male examinees every year. But like a few examinees, even some of you young ladies, they try to cheat the first round of exams, so we normally left with about five students. So give him and the other four, some kudos for having the heart and guts to come here today!”
“Thank you very much for explaining this, ma’am.” Examinee Number 7111 said with a bow, and before she set down, she said, “Please excuse the interruption.”
After the whispering about this died down, the Voice Hero waved her hands once more, and said, “Finally, I'll give you listeners a present - our school motto! A pre-quirk military hero Napoleon Bonaparte once said: A true hero is someone who overcomes life's misfortunes. Now go beyond! PLUS ULTRA!” Her glad smile became slightly malicious.
Here the examinee began to part ways, some going to get equipment if they didn’t have any, or they went to get changed into their outfits and gear that they had. Thankfully, the school set up a room for the males to get changed into if they needed to. For Izuku, he changed into his PE kit, so that he would feel more comfortable when he was in his power armour when he got to the battle centre he was going to. He learned during lunch that All Might had sent it there for him.
As he changed, he tried to talk to the other males there, but they had no interest in talking to him. As the one called Richard Grayson told him, they were rivals and so no point talking to each other just in case they slip their plans to deal with the next exam. As Izuku could use it against them. Because of this, very little was said, and they parted ways. Although he and Grayson were going to the same battle centre but said nothing on the ride there.

Battle Centre B - sometime later:
It was getting on in the afternoon, and Izuku found himself at Battle Centre B after a short coach ride there. When he got there, he realized that the Battle Centre was like a small city in itself, and there were seven of these. Izuku had to wonder where they got the money for these centres, as U.A could use one of these centres as a home and shopping area for students who moved here from faraway places. It would save money for the students but make money for the school for the shopping areas that the students could use.
Whatever the case, Izuku had to stop his mind wandering and get back into what he was meant to be doing. Looking around, he saw the huge capsule where he knew his power armour was. But as he looked around, he saw the girl who helped him earlier doing some breathing exercises to help her stay calm. Izuku would have gone up to her and wished her luck, but the thing was he didn’t know when the exam would start, and he had to get his battle suit on.
But before he could move towards the capsule, where people were now standing around wondering why it was there, Izuku took one last look at the girl and sent a mental, good luck, to her and was about to make his way to his armour. But as turned, he was stopped by a soft hand on his shoulder.
“That girl appears to be trying to focus on what lays ahead.” Izuku heard a familiar stuck-up voice, looking around, he saw it was the blue-haired girl, Examinee 7111, “What are you going to do? Distract her and ruin her chance to succeed?”
“I, I think you, you have the wrong idea,” Izuku informed the girl tamely, a bit frightened of her, his nerves beginning to show, “I, I was about to get ready for the exam.”
“Likely story,” said Examinee 7111, not believing him, “what can a male do in this exam?”
“Many things,” Izuku said suddenly, knocking her hand off him, as his confidence was turning, as he hated being looked down on by this girl, “just wait and see. I’ll show you what a male can do.”
And with that, Izuku walked up to the capsule and opened it, revealing his battle suit. The suit was green with dark green markings, with a jetpack on its back and a silver mask. People were shocked to see this, and they began whispering about what was going on here, how he was going to use this in the exam ahead. He could even hear Present Mic, who seemed to be the Battle Centre’s Judge, say, “Can you see this?” Izuku suspected that he was talking to the other judges who were marking them today.
During this, Izuku smirked… sure he didn’t like standing out, but to show what he can do and show other men that they too can be heroes, he knew he had to stand out. Once he had his suit on, the ladies were trying to ask him what was going on, even Grayson. But Izuku only said he wasn’t going to say anything, as they were rivals and so no point talking to each other. This was mainly a shot at Grayson, but it worked for all of them.
“R, RIGHT, LET’S START…” they suddenly heard the Voice Hero call out, as the shock of Izuku wearing the armour wore off.
Upon hearing this, Izuku didn’t need to be told twice, he used the jetpack and flew off, leaving the examinees and Present Mic in shock. “WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? DON'T JUST STAND THERE! FOLLOW HIM!” Present Mic called out to them, not showing how she was feeling right now, “THERE ARE NO COUNTDOWNS IN REAL BATTLES, SO, RUN, RUN, LISTENERS! YOU’RE WASTING TIME AND POINTS!”
The examinee couldn’t believe it, one of the males in their group had already made his move, leaving them behind. They were at least thirty seconds behind Izuku, who they could see drafting at least two air robots, earning himself ten points.

Thirty Odd Seconds Earlier:
As Izuku flew into the Battle Centre, he knew he had to get points and fast if he wanted to get into U.A. Thanks to Geonosis Tech designing the jetpack for him, so he could have the ability to deal with villains who could fly, Izuku knew the best way to do this was to defeat the flying robots first, getting five points from each of them. Thankfully, he was able to find two of them within thirty seconds of starting the exam and using the sword that he had, sliced the heads off them.
But as he did so, Izuku saw that the bodies of the robots and the heads were heading toward some Civilian Bots that were in the area. Remembering the rules about what would happen if the Civilian Bots, Izuku flew down to the ground to protect them, moving them out of the way. Unfortunately though, whilst he was able to protect the bots from the ‘villain’s’ main body, one of the ‘villain’s’ heads hit one of the Civilian Bots' heads and in doing so, ‘knocked them out.’
Seeing this, Izuku knew that he had to be careful, as although he didn’t know how many points he lost, he knew he lost a few because of this. Making sure the Civilian Bots were out of the way, he flew off to get more points to recover from this. This time though, Izuku tried to look for some ground villains, only getting the flying ones if they were already near the ground.
So thinking carefully about what to do next, Izuku quickly killed a few ground villains and one flying one that was close to the ground as he flew across the ground and up a tall building. He wanted to test one of the functions that the helmet had, Infrared Vision. It allowed Izuku to see heat signatures. Izuku wanted to quickly see about these extra points, to see if it would be easier to do them or to keep on defeating the ‘villains’ like everyone else.
They were told to search for them, so Izuku thought the best way to do so was using his Infrared Vision from his helmet. It was a good idea too. As he found that the robots left a good deal of heat signatures, Civilian Bots more so than the villains. Izuku found that some of these Civilian Bots were trapped in buildings or cars either on one of the top floors, elevators or under rubble and the like.
Seeing some Civilian Bots trapped on a few floors under him, Izuku was shocked to hear them shouting for help, Izuku went to save them and took them to a nearby safe zone. Then he went on to save more Civilian Bots, who were also crying for help, defeating both ground and air villains that got in his way. Izuku had to admit that he was shocked to see that not many other people were helping the Civilian Bots. Seeing how most of them were shouting for help.
But as he thought about it, he realized that didn’t know how many points they got in doing so, but at least with the ‘villains’ they knew. Not only that, but the sound of the ‘villains’ also covered the cries for help, only those like him who were listening out for them would have heard them.
As Izuku was gaining his points, Izuku ran down an alleyway when his Infrared Vision spotted a Civilian Bot trapped under some rubble. But before he could save the bot, Grayson ran down the alleyway using the other entrance to it. He was running away from a Flying Villain that flew down from the sky and destroyed some of the buildings around it. Because of this, the rubble from the building pained Grayson down by his feet. Before the ‘Villain’ could do any more damage, Izuku defeated it, saving Grayson from the ‘Villain.’
The thing was, this also destroyed the Civilian Bot that Izuku was trying to save. Izuku wasn’t sure if he was going to lose points because of this, or Grayson.
Whatever the case, Izuku learned that Grayson had broken his legs thanks to the rubble falling on them. Grayson wanted to move on, to continue to fight. But unable to move, he couldn’t and so had to admit defeat. So, he asked Izuku to take him to a ‘safe zone.’ Izuku would have left Grayson, and he did think about it for a few seconds, but whilst he knew that Grayson wouldn’t be killed, or at least didn’t think so, he could get hurt more, something that Izuku didn’t want if he could prevent it. So, he took Grayson to the ‘safe-zone’ and returned to fighting the ‘villains’ and helping the Civilian Bots.
Either way, before Izuku knew it, he had defeated what he felt were many ‘villains’ and saved what felt like many Civilian Bots for ten minutes. Realizing how much time had passed, Izuku knew it was time for him to use One For All, to show the students and the judges that he had a quirk. But, before he could activate Full Cowling and use five percent of One For All, everyone froze as they heard a loud rumbling and saw a huge robot. This was the Zero Pointer that Present Mic warned them about. The Zero Pointer had destroyed the roof of one building, and punched the ground, a dust cloud and creating more damage.
Izuku knew that the Zero Pointer was going to be big and hard to defeat, but this, this was something beyond his imagination. For the first time since the exam started, he felt true fear, not fear of failing the exam or getting hurt, but fear of dying. Upon the Zero Pointer hitting the ground, Izuku tripped over his feet and landed on his ass as he tried to get away from the Zero Pointer, to avoid it as they were told and defeat the other ‘villains.’ He watched in fear and shock as people ran past him, doing what he had planned to do.
But his mind had shut down, not allowing him to think clearly. As he tried to stand and run, he couldn’t, his feet wouldn’t let him. All he could do was crawl, badly, away from the Zero Pointer.
As he tried to do this, he heard Present Mic call out to them, “LESS THAN THREE MINUTES TO GO!”
Hearing this, he realized he needed to get more points. Sure, he got many points, but if he wanted to make sure he got into U.A, he needed to get more points. Try and get into the top ten, even top five in the first year, to show the school that males weren’t as useless as females thought they were as heroes.
With that in mind, he was going to push his fear of dying back and stand up and run and try and get at least a few more points. That was the plan anyway, but that was until he heard a piercing scream echoing through the city.
As the dust cloud began to clear, time began to slow down to a standstill as Izuku saw the girl who had screamed: the girl who was nice to them earlier, the person who helped him when he fell earlier. She was caught in a pile of rubble, desperately clawing at the huge chunks of rock that were pinning her leg in place. She looked frantically up at the approaching Zero Pointer and then back to her leg.
Izuku knew one thing, the teenage girl needed help, and she needed it badly.
The fearful look in her eyes flipped some kind of switch inside Izuku. It wasn’t a question of whether he could save her in time. He just knew that he would. He would not fail!
So, instead of using five percent of One For All to save her, he used over sixty percent of his new quirk, for his legs and his right arm. As he jumped, he roared at the sky, looking up at the Zero Pointer as if nothing was going to stop him from defeating it. His eyes begin to glow a vibrant green as his body tensed up, every muscle in his body clenching up to support his next and final attack.

The Judge’s Room - Just Before Battle Centre Exam Began:
Now, we have Tokinori Yagi walking around the Judge's Room, waiting for the second exam of the Entrance Exam for the Hero Course, the Practical Exam, to begin. All Might couldn't wait to see how her successor does in the Practical Exam, with the two-month hellish training with her old teacher and his mechanical exoskeleton suit, or power armour as Midoriya had been calling it recently, Tokinori believed that he could pass the exam with ease. And that was before he used her old quirk.
She then thought back about Midoriya's plan for this exam. For the first ten minutes, Midoriya was only going to use his power armour, to show that men did have a chance of becoming a hero. All they needed was the right tools to use and a lot of hard training. Then near the final five minutes, he would use One For All, or his Full Cowling, to show that he had a quirk. He knew how dangerous it was to reveal that he had a quirk before he had much training, but as he pointed out, he needed to show that he had a quirk in the first place, so that he could get the training not only to help him become the hero he wanted but also to learn how to defend himself from villains.
Speaking about Midoriya’s power armour, after learning which Battle Centre Midoriya was going to, he had his people send the armour there for Midoriya.
Once she had Midoriya’s armour sent to him, she had lunch with the other teachers and informed them about why she was really at U.A, to find a successor, that was before she found Midoriya. Now she was there to help teach Midoriya and the other future heroes to fight. She also told them why she was looking for a successor in the first place, not the full story, at least not right now, but that she was gravely injured about five years and how her powers were weakening as time passed. She even showed them her scar, to show how bad it was.
She also informed them that because of the injury, she was losing most of her strength and her doctors informed her that in a few years, she would lose her powers and be unable to work as a hero. But before then, she wanted to find someone who could replace her. And although her doctors informed her that she would lose her powers even faster, she would save as many people as she could, as she was someone who couldn’t stand by and see people hurt if she saw someone in trouble.
She also informed them that she was going through an experimental treatment to heal her. Although it should heal her, it didn’t mean that she would be a hero again.
The teachers were shocked and horrified by this story, that there was someone who was more powerful than All Might and was able to damage her so badly. They were just grateful that All Might was able to kill her so that she would never be a danger to them again. It was sad that she had to lose most of her power and in a few years unable to do hero work again, but they knew that this was the price of being a hero. Sometimes, to keep the peace and happiness of others, to protect people, heroes would have to sacrifice everything, even their lives, to do so.
They were just glad that she was able to find a way to hopefully fix her body, as without this experimental treatment, who knows what could have happened to the Symbol of Peace. For this, most of the teachers were willing to help train All Might’s successor, as long as they pass the Entrance Exam, even if the successor was a male.
Right now, Tokinori was sitting in the Judge’s Room, waiting for the exam to begin. She really couldn’t wait to see how the others would react when they saw Midoriya in action. She just wished she was younger, as she would have been more than happy about dating the young man. He was strong and brave, and willing to protect others, everything she wanted in a man. But, with the age difference and her injured body, she didn’t think she would have a chance with him.
“So, are you ready to see your successor in action?” someone asked Tokinori, making her shake her head and get rid of such thoughts, it wasn’t a heroic thing to think about. Now, turning around to see who spoke to her, she saw that it was Shiori Kan, better known as Vlad Queen, the Blood Hero. She was a possible homeroom teacher for Midoriya, the other was Aizawa.
Shiori is a tall woman, who had a bulky, muscular build, with lightly tanned skin, a few visible scars showing on her left cheek and the left side of her notably thick neck. She has shoulder-length silver-grey hair. Her eyes were very small and thin, and she had a wide mouth with two prominent lower canines.
She was wearing her hero costume, which consisted of a dark red skin-tight suit with a very low u-shaped collar, which exposed some of her breasts and muscles, and was lined with a thick black trim, which matches the ones over his shoulders. She was also wearing a pair of white over-the-knee boots and thick vambraces over his lower arms, a thin wire snaking from one of the two small protrusions on the left one to the back of her neck, and red gloves. Around her waist, she has a three-piece metallic belt which dips downwards in the centre, and she wears an orange mask over her eyes.
“Ah, Kan,” said All Might, “yeah, I can’t wait to see how well he does.”
Whilst was one of the few women who didn’t think men should be heroes, it wasn’t because she thought she was better than them. It was because she knew the dangers that being a hero was and feared that if a man tried to be a hero like many did, they would end up dead or badly injured as many did. She didn’t want them to get hurt trying to prove themselves.
“I have to ask, whoever your successor is, do you really think he’ll be able to pass the Entrance Exam?” Shiori asked worriedly about All Might’s successor. Sure, there were five males altogether and she was worried about all of them, but she was worried about whoever All Might’s successor was more, as it would be a big thing that her successor failed. As should people learn about this, they would wonder what All Might was thinking in thanking that a man could be a better successor for her instead of a woman. Her popularity would more than likely drop and would lose her number one title hero. So, Vlad Queen wanted to make sure that All Might was sure whoever she picked as her successor was up for the job when there were so many females that could be better for the job.
“Out of all the males that I have met, I honestly can say that he can.” admitted Tokinori, “He is different from all the males that I have met before. He trained himself to get stronger and got an idea of how to be a hero without a quirk, he even got someone to make his idea real when he couldn’t. Whilst I did help him with making his idea better and give him ten months of training, all the work that was his to get to the point where I met him. So even if he doesn’t make it today, I’ll help him to become the hero wants to be. As there are other ways for him to become a hero than coming to a school, but it’s harder for males if they don’t have the backing.”
Shiori knew this was right, there were other ways for someone to become a hero other than schools, one such way is for the person to be an apprentice to a hero and work hard there. But, without backing or showing you are able to become a hero, it was hard to get an apprenticeship. “So, you have that much faith in your successor?”
“I really do.” admitted All Might, with no doubt in his mind that Midoriya would be a hero.
Before anything else was said, Principal Nozomi and four other teachers came into the room, so nothing else was really said as they waited for the students to arrive at their assigned Battle Centre. When the students arrived at their Centres, they watched Battle Centre B where Grayson and Midoriya.
For Grayson, they saw that he was wearing a black Kevlar-made suit, with Kevlar-made boots and gauntlets, with the armour, he had elbow and knee pads. He also had Escrima sticks as weapons, on his hips and a battle staff on his back. This kid looked like he was more than ready to face the robot villains. Unlike the other males, all were wearing their PE kits, even Midoriya, the ones that Present Mic and Ectoplasm believed were All Might’s successor.
“You’re still sure that Midoriya is All Might’s successor?” the hero known as Snipe asked Ectoplasm, as they saw Midoriya having an earful from Examinee 7111, “Unlike Grayson, he doesn’t have any sort of weapons or armour to protect himself. Not only that, but it looks like he is allowing himself to be belittled by Examinee 7111.”
Snipe was a female who had the appearance of a stereotypical western cowboy. But, she had her face covered by an old-school tan gas mask, that was shaped a little like a horse’s muzzle, with triangular holes for her eyes and silver ear-defenders wired to the sides of the mask, but her dark, blueish shoulder-length dreadlocks were visible from the back and sides.
Before Ectoplasm could say anything, they heard Present Mic from her radio, “Can you see this?”
They were shocked to see that Midoriya was standing in front of a huge capsule that had a bulky mechanical exoskeleton suit, with green and dark green armour and a jetpack. Everyone there was shocked to see Midoriya putting it on.
As he was doing so, Ectoplasm said with a smirk, “I believe I do.” then she remembered something that All Might told them early on, and said with a smirk, “I think me, and Hikaru just won Principal Nozomi’s bet.”
“What are you talking about?” asked Snipe.
“All Might told us that we would know who her successor was, as he would stand out from the rest of the males in the practical exam.” Ectoplasm reminded them as she kept her smirk on, “So, if that doesn’t make Midoriya stand out above everyone else, I don’t know what would.
Before any of the teachers could say anything about this, they suddenly heard the Voice Hero call out in shock, “R, RIGHT, LET’S START…”
Upon hearing this, they watched as Midoriya flew off in his armour into the Battle Centre, leaving the examinees and Present Mic in shock.
“So, All Might, is Midoriya your successor?” asked Ectoplasm, as she created a few clones to keep watch as they watched Midoriya defeating two of the Flying Villains within a few seconds of entering the Battle Centre, although, they would have to take a few points off him for allowing one of the Civilian Bots nearby by getting knocked out. “He sure does stand out more than any other male that I ever knew.”
“Well yes he is,” admitted All Might, not seeing denying it, but with a mysterious smile, she said, “but that’s not the only thing that’ll make him stand out today.”
“What do you mean by that?” asked Midnight, as she and the other teachers were unhappy that they had to help in the Detention Hall for a month because they bet against Midoriya.
“Not going to spoil the surprise, but you’ll find out before the exam is over.” Tokinori said with a smirk, not willing to say more.
The other wondered what All Might meant, but they knew that she wouldn’t say anything to them just yet. Instead, Midnight asked the question that they were all thinking, “Where did Midoriya get his mechanical exoskeleton suit?”
“From his father,” admitted Tokinori, “young Midoriya’s father used to work as a Head of the Department for Designs at one of the Detnerat buildings. When he learned about his son wanting to be a hero and his son’s idea on how he would become one, Hisashi Midoriya called in a few favours that he gained over the years to create the basic outer exoskeleton suit. I helped the young lad out when I learned about the suit, by sending him to some people I know who helped create the jetpack and armour for him.”
“What happened to Midoriya’s father?” asked Ectoplasm, sensing that something happened to him.
“I don't know much seeing how young Midoriya doesn't talk about it much,” All Might informed them all, “but from what he told me, Hisashi Midoriya died during a villain attack when he was on a business trip. Other than that, I don’t know anything.”
The teachers didn’t know what to say about this. Each child had their own story, but for Midoriya, it seemed more upsetting. His own father got this exoskeleton suit for his son, and he was now using it to take part in the Entrance Exam to be a hero. Something that hadn’t happened in the past, so, the Support Course Teacher asked, "I do have to ask, where did he get the idea from?"
"From you actually, Maijima." All Might explained, “When he saw the basic suit that you used for battle, he thought it would be useful to use once he redesigned it a bit. In fact, he found it strange that no one would use or thought of this idea and so decided to be the first to show it was possible.”
Now that the heroes thought about it, they too wondered why no one thought of this. It was such a simple idea, but yet other than Power Loader, who used it in the basic form, and now Midoriya, who used it as an armour to fight, no one else seemed to have this sort of idea. Although, All Might thought she saw that Principal Nozomi had a worried knowing look, but that was gone as soon as she saw it, so, All Might wasn’t sure what to think.
Whatever the case, as the teachers thought about this and knew who Midoriya really was, they watched the students taking part in the exam. As they had one other thing to do other than to watch to see how they did but to score them too. What the students didn’t realize was that other than Villain Points and Civilian Points, there were Rescue Points, points given to students who help save or protect their fellow examinees from the Villains.
This was one thing that they didn’t want to tell them, as if they knew about it, they would go out looking to save/protect follow examinees. This wouldn’t tell the teachers anything, as they wanted to see if they would help others without knowing that there were points given if they did. If they knew, the teachers wouldn’t know if they were acting or not.
Now, like normal, very few of the examinees went out to help the Civilian Bots, sure made sure that they didn’t get hurt when they were around, but otherwise, they didn’t look out for them. Only a few did. For the rest of the time, they watched as they defeated villains and a few of them saved their fellow examinees. They had to say, out of all the females, Katsumi Bakugou was scoring the most by defeating the Villains with her quirk.
There were a few Rescue Points to be given and some Civilian Points to be given and taken away. Although, they would have to rewatch the videos, later on, to make sure they caught everything, and the points were given fairly and none was missed.
Now, out of the males, three of them were taken out within a few minutes, leaving behind Midoriya and Grayson in the exam. Unfortunately, though, Grayson was taken out halfway through the exam, when a Flying Villain caught him off guard and made him lose his weapons, Grayson had to run and take cover. But it didn’t go well though, as when he ran into the alleyway, the villain flew down and destroyed a building that the rubble from it trapped and broke his leg. Before they could shut down that Flying Villain before it could hurt the young boy more, he was saved by Midoriya who took him to a ‘safe zone.’
Unfortunately, this meant that with a score of thirty-five points, these points came from the following: fifteen from Villain Points, ten from Rescue Points, a zero from Civilian Points (He got some points, but he lost them with the Civilians getting hurt,) Grayson was out of the exam. It was very unlikely that with these points, the young boy would make it into U.A.
Midoriya, on the other hand, he was the most surprising student in the exam. Although he was a male, thanks to his jetpack and being able to fly, he was able to deal with the Flying Villains with ease when he faced them, and because of this, got a lot of points from them. By the end of the exam, he defeated six of them. Whilst not as many as other examinees from other Battle Centres, for a male without a quirk, this was something they weren’t expecting, and the six Flying Villains alone give him thirty points.
But this wasn’t the end of his points though, from saving Grayson, he got twenty Rescue Points, which made his total to fifty. Depending on how the other examinees did, this could be a barely passing mark and to the surprise of the teachers there, would allow him to enter U.A.
But his scoring wasn’t the end from defeating the Flying Villains and saving Grayson, but he also defeated many ground-type villains. They would have to rewatch the recordings to make sure the true score, it was highly possible that he would be the first-ever male to get into the top ten in the exam scoring. What was shocking, was how easy it seemed for Midoriya to be able to find the Civilian Bots.
All Might explained that this is done to one of the functions that the people he asked to help with Midoriya's suit, they added an Infrared Vision to Midoriya's helmet. This meant Midoriya could see the heat signatures of the robots and so could see where the Civilian Bots were, which meant he could easily find them.
As they watched the remaining of the exam, they thought they had seen all the surprises that they would see from the young man. The armour slowly got the highest score that a male ever got in the practical exam within the Entrance Exam. In fact, he was placed tenth in the exam, something no male had ever done. But little did they know as they watched the show, was that there was one surprise left for Midoriya to show them, the biggest one yet and one that would shake the school to the core.
As the ten-minute mark was coming close, the teachers were looking at the top ten students in the exam:
Rank: Name: Villain Rescue Civilian Total Score:
Points: Points: Points - Total:
1st Katsumi Bakugou 130 0 20 150
2nd Arlene Logan 70 10 30 110
3rd Eiko Kirishima 54 35 15 104
4th Ibara Shiozaki 50 32 20 102
5th Itsuka Kendo 40 40 20 100
6th Tomoyo Iida 60 9 30 99
7th Tetsutetsu Tetsutetsu 68 10 20 98
8th Fumiko Tokoyami 67 10 20 97
9th Ochaco Uraraka 55 20 20 95
10th Izuku Midoriya 44 20 30 94
All Might couldn’t but smile at this, seeing how someone like Izuku could get into tenth place without using One For All. Who knew what place he would have been if he used it, more than likely in the top five? Seeing that there were only five minutes left, Tokinori knew the real fun was about to start. But she had forgotten one important thing, the Zero Pointer, it was time for it to be realised.
“It’s time,” said Principal Nozomi, “Maijima, let the Zero Pointers go. Let’s see how they react to this.”
With that Power Loader pushed the button to start up the Zero Pointers in each of the Battle Centres. It was time to see how these new possible students will handle this.
Once the Zero Pointers were activated and unleashed into the Battle Centres, Principal Nozomi said, “I have to admit Yagi, your successor had shown great achievement today, doing better than any male before today by getting into the top ten. But, how do you think he’ll deal with the Zero Pointer?”
“Honestly?” asked All Might, “I don’t know. I know he and the rest of the examinees would be frightened. But once he gets to grips with things, I believe if he has to, he’ll face the Zero Pointer without problems.”
All Might had heard the stories of these Zero Pointers, that how sometimes when they show up, there are a few examinees that were caught in the fallout. As the examinees often get caught by the rubble that the Zero Pointer creates when entering the exam area. So, it would be up to the examinees to save them, if not and the examinee was in great danger, the judge would hit the kill switch and stop the Zero Pointer.
Before any of the other teachers could say a word, they saw All Might’s words come true. Midoriya fell on his ass in shock and fear, as the other examinees ran past him in fear. They saw that when he heard how much time was left, he pulled himself together and was about to run for, like he was told to.
However, just as Midoriya was going to run, he heard a scream for help that made him stop. What happened next reviled his last surprise to them, something that made them believe why All Might made the boy her successor. They all thought the boy would use the blaster on his armour to get rid of the rubble, get rid of the girl, and fly away, but that didn't happen. Instead, he ran towards the Zero Pointer and jumped towards its head to hit. For other examinees with quirks, this wouldn't be a surprise, as they would have some sort of quirk that would allow them to deal with the huge robot, but for Midoriya, he had no such thing, or so they thought.
Seconds after Midoriya into the air to hit the Zero Pointer’s head, his body began to glow with what looked like a green lightning aura. The teachers were even more shocked when the Zero Pointer’s head flew off its body and out of the Battle Centre.
They watched as Midoriya fell to the ground, his body was flapping all about seeing how his right arm and legs looked bruised and broken. They kept watching, ready to send someone to save Midoriya if needed. Thankfully, the girl that Midoriya was trying to rescue, was able to free herself and save Midoriya by using her own quirk. A few minutes later, the exam was over and Recovery Girl was there treating the young man.
Everyone there, apart from All Might, was shocked to see Midoriya using a quirk.
“Did you just see that?” the teachers heard Present Mic ask in shock, “Did I really just see Midoriya using a quirk?”
“We all saw that Yamada.” admitted Principal Nozomi, “we’ll deal with that later, for now, do as much damage control as you can. We need to deal with this carefully.”
“What should I say about this?” asked Present Mic, “The examinees will be asking what that was.”
“Tell them the truth,” said Principal Nozomi, “we don’t know what happened, but we’ll be looking into this. Ask them not to say anything about this.”
“Understood.” replied Present Mic, “But you do know they’ll talk about this either way. Seeing how this is the first time a male had shown signs of using a quirk.”
“I know, but right now, all we can do is ask them not to say anything.” admitted Nozomi, “We’ll try and figure something out as soon as possible.”
“Understood.” said Present Mic before she went back to deal with what just happened.
“You’re kidding me, you’re telling me that young man has a quirk, how is that fucking possible?” swore Power Loader. She didn’t mean to, but in a situation like this, you could forgive her for doing so. In fact, she was just saying what everyone else was thinking.
Although, Principal Nozomi was giving All Might a ‘what the fuck have you done,’ look, seeing how she was one of the very few people who knew about One For All. She knew that All Might had come to her school to look for someone to give her quirk to but to give it to a male, which brought so many problems with it. Putting the school and young Midoriya in danger.
“Well, you see when I first saw young Midoriya and how he saved his former friend, I knew that I had to train him, to make him my successor.” explained All Might, “However, after eight months of training, out of nowhere, he suddenly showed sign of having a super strength quirk.”
The teachers were shocked to hear this, none of them knew that a male could have a quirk, so far, the only people with quirks had only been females. But that lead to the question of how, which All Might had to lie about, saying she didn’t know. “Finding this out that he had a quirk, led to the problem of how to train him, seeing how I’m more of a battle expert than a quirk expert. So, seeing how his quirk seemed to be the same as mine, I brought him to my old teacher, the one that helped my master train me: Sorahi Torino or as you might know her Gran Torino.”
“Who?” most of the teachers asked.
“Not surprising you lot don’t know her, she was only here for one year and done little hero work.” explained Nozomi, shocking the teachers there, “She only became a hero as it would be easier to help train All Might, as a favour to her late master.”
“Who is that?” asked Midnight.
“That’s up to All Might to tell you seeing it’s her master, but it’s unlikely you would know her. Seeing how she died about thirty years ago.” explained the principal, “But I have to ask, are you mad? Taking Midoriya to Torino to train. You know how she feels about males. Her training you from what I can gather was hell, so her training Midoriya, it would have been much worse.”
“I, I had no, no other options,” admitted Tokinori, fearfully as he thought about the training, “I wanted young Midoriya to have some basic control before the Entrance Exam. Not only that, but I knew how dangerous it would be for him should a villain learns about him. Thankfully, thanks to the hellish training, young Midoriya was able to handle about five percent of his quirk.”
Many were shocked to hear this, not only that All Might and Midoriya went through hellish training, but what they saw was only five percent of his power. “You’re saying that what we saw was only five precent?” asked Snipe in shock, “With the damage to his body and what he did to the Zero Pointer, it looked like he used more than five percent.”
“Because he did use more,” explained All Might, “if I had to guess, I would say he used about one hundred percent of his power. Or what is one hundred percent for him at the moment, with training and as he grows older, I wouldn’t be surprised if once he masters his quirk, the one hundred precent we saw today would be like a small splash in a pond.”
The teachers were speechless upon hearing this. They knew that as people grow older, depending on the quirk, the quirk can grow stronger along with its user. So, to hear that what they saw Midoriya do with the Zero Pointer would be nothing compared to what he could do once he mastered his quirk, it was terrifying to think about.
“If that’s full power right now, why would you allow him to use it if it damages his body?” asked Midnight, worried for the cute boy.
“That wasn’t the plan,” admitted All Might, “the plan was for Izuku to use his power armour for the first ten minutes, and then against my advice, use five percent of his quirk that he can handle to deal with whatever he was facing in the exam.”
“Why would he go against your advice?” asked Kei Ishiyama or as she was better known as Cementoss. She looked like a purple cement angel with cement wings and long cement hair. She was wearing a dark purple short-sleeved dress, with the front of the dress with a v opening, revealing part of her breasts. She was also wearing dark purple gloves, high-hilled boots, and a leather collar.
“I wanted him to hide his powers, at least until he mastered some more of his power, but young Midoriya didn’t think it was wise.” explained All Might, “He told me that it was for the best if he showed a little what he could do to you so that you could see that he had a quirk and find a way to train him. And as for why he used more than he was going to? I believe it was to save the young girl who was trapped. Knowing that five percent wasn’t going to be enough, used much more to deal with the robot.”
The teachers had to admit this made a lot of sense and could see why he would want to reveal his powers to them, whilst All Might might be able to teach him to fight, she couldn’t teach him how to use his newfound powers. As for going beyond his limit, that was what the school was all about, learning to control their powers and going beyond their limits. To do what Midoriya did with only having his quirk for two months, was something amazing, even for a male.
“Okay ladies, I’ve got a lot to do with what just happened here, like talking to Yagi, so let’s do Midoriya’s final score and we can come back tomorrow to make sure all the scoring is done right.” Nozomi told them all.
“I think I speak for all of us here, and that after what we saw him do, he should get full rescue points.” said Midnight.
“Anyone disagree?” asked the principal, where all the judges agreed that Midoriya should get full marks. “Okay, young Midoriya gets sixty points, what about Examinee 1555?”
Examinee 1555 was Ochaco Uraraka, and after a quick talk, they judged that she should get thirty points, making it so that she would take third place. As for Midoriya, for the first time ever, a male got second place in the Entrance Exam. This would be a first in the history books.
With the scoring and the exam done for the day, other than Nozomi and Tokinori, the judges left, allowing the two to talk. This was something Tokinori didn’t want but knew it was coming, a talk about her giving young Midoriya, One For All, instead of one of the students at U.A liked planned. Nozomi had nothing against males, she was more than happy to have them as heroes, the problem was that now that people believed that Midoriya had a quirk, it would mean problems for him. People, be it villains or the government, would want him, to see how he got a quirk. To protect the young man, Nozomi would enter the playing field to make sure the government at the very least doesn’t get their hands on Midoriya.

Back with Izuku, moments after destroying the Zero Pointer:
He was thankful to the young brunette girl who helped him early for saving his life just now, he could see that she was throwing up before blacking out, more than likely because she used too much of her power to save him. Now, he would thank her, but he was in pain, a lot of pain. Not only that, not knowing how many points he had, right now, all he could think about was getting more points. He could thank her later.
“I, I need more points.” Izuku said in pain as he started to crawl towards where he thought more of the villains were, knowing that only minutes if that were left before the exam was over. “I have to get into U.A and prove that I can be a hero.”
But before he could get far, he heard Present Mic call out, “TIME’S UP!!”
Izuku couldn’t believe it, he couldn’t get any more points, he didn’t know if he had gotten enough points to get into U.A, and because of how damaged his body was, he couldn’t get more. Out of pain, and disbelief in thinking that he had failed, he blacked out.
With Izuku knocked out, he didn’t the girls whisper in shock about seeing a male having a quirk. Some were amazed at this fact, a lot were shocked to see a male having a quirk, but most seeing what happened to his body and not realizing that he already had some control over his powers but went beyond to save someone, were disgusted. They didn’t like how much damage the male did to his body, they believed that more than likely trying to show off at being the first male Quirk User.
Most believed that with how his body was, damaged so badly, U.A wouldn’t take the boy in, how could they if he damages his body so much and there were others with better quirks that could make them the better student and later heroes. Some of these hoped that U.A or the government could remove his quirk. This just showed why males shouldn’t have quirks if this happened to their bodies when using one. And whilst they didn’t like the idea of a male hero, they believed that he should have kept using his armour, seeing how he was doing better in that than he did with his quirk.
But there was one brunette who disagreed with those who didn’t want Izuku here, she was the one that the young boy saved. She was Ochako Uraraka, and her quirk was Gravity, which allowed her to control and manipulate gravity itself. At the moment, all she could do with her powers was to increase and decrease the weight of people or objects, making it so they float into the air or are unable to move because so much gravity was on them. She learned early on that if she was in pain, it would take a few moments for her to fight through the pain and use her powers.
Anyway, young Ochako believed that the teenage boy should become a hero. If it wasn't for him, she didn't know what would have happened with the Zero Pointer. She wasn't able to use her powers right away, as she was in pain because of the rubble pinning her legs down. So, she was thankful that he saved her and if anyone should be a hero, it would be him; So when he heard that he wanted a few points to make sure he got into U.A, because of this, she was going to talk to the Judge to see if she could give him some of her points so that he could get into U.A.
Not only that, but whilst Izuku was out cold, he didn’t see a hot forty-something woman walking into the area, giving sweets to the injured and healing the badly hurt ones. This was Chiyo Shuzenji, better known as Youthful Hero: Recovery Girl. She had blue lagoon hair, which was styled into a netted bun, with a large syringe poking diagonally out of it to the left. She has a notably small nose and eyes which are usually drawn as two little dashes, and a long mouth with defined nasolabial folds. She also had firm c-cup breasts.
She was wearing a doctor's lab coat and a short dress with yellow and red vest-like designs on either side, two yellow buttons, and a belt with a pink “R”-shaped buckle, it revealed her long sexy legs. She was also wearing pink boots and a helmet around the sides of her head, a purple-tinted visor joining it over her eyes. In addition, she walks with a cane designed like a syringe that she can also use for healing the injured.
Although she looked like she was in her forties, she was, in fact, in her seventies. She looked so young thanks to her quirk, Heal, whilst it helped her to heal people by extending their lips and kissing them, it had a few other effects too, one of which was slowing down her ageing, which allowed her to look so young.
Now, seeing the injured young boy, she sighed and asked the unconscious boy, “Didn’t I tell you young Midoriya not to injure yourself like this again?” That was until she heard the story of how he saved a young girl who was trapped under some rubble from the Zero Pointer, which she softened up a bit and said, “You silly boy, you need to be more careful.”
That’s then when she called two small humanoid robots that she called Heal Bots, to take him to the school Medical Wing, where he could rest until he came conscious and go home. Which would be about an hour's time from now. Once Izuku was taken to the Medical Wing, she went on to other Battle Centres to the most injured and heal them if they couldn’t make their way to the Medical Wing themselves.
At the same time, before those from Battle Centre B were allowed to leave, they were asked not to tell anyone about Izuku. As the school didn’t want to put Izuku at risk from villains and other people who might not want Izuku to have a quirk.
However, there was one blue-haired female, Tomoyo Iida who had a super speed quirk, that because of Izuku’s action, began to rethink her actions that day. Not only did she call him out before the exam, but she also tried to belittle him because he was a male. Was it because she thought males were weak like the rest of the world, or there was some other reason behind it that she didn’t realize, she didn’t know?
But during the exam, Izuku showed her that without a quirk but just some special designed armour, he was able to hold his own during the exam. To show her and others who didn’t want him here, that he could hold his own and might be able to become one with work. That other men might be able to too.
But then, he showed that he had a quirk, throwing everyone off. Until today, there were no records of a man having a quirk, so she, like everyone here, didn’t know what to think. It was something she had to think about on her own, seeing how the school didn’t want people to know about the male just yet. Although the quirk hurt him, it made her think about what it meant to be a hero, and what it meant for U.A.
For the U.A, she didn’t think that the school would let him slip through their fingers. Not only because he was the first known Male Quirk User, but his actions in saving the brunette, even if he didn’t get the points needed to pass the exam, she didn’t think they would let him go easy because of it.
Now, as for the rescue that the male made, it made her think if she was doing the right thing in coming to U.A to become a hero. Whilst everyone was running to escape the Zero Pointer, even her, the male was running toward the huge robot to save the brunette Even when she saw what was going on, the blue-haired girl kept on running, trying to get away from the robot.
Whilst everyone was saying that they hoped that the boy wouldn’t get in because of how damaged the boy’s body was, Iida, didn’t think the school would overlook someone, be it male or female, who would put everything on the line to save someone. They could train them to use their powers better, so as not to damage themselves.
But for her, as she thought about his action, Iida wanted to think that if this wasn’t a test, she wouldn’t have run but instead helped to save the girl. But deep down though, she didn’t know if that was true. As, what if something went wrong, what if this male couldn’t save the girl, what if the judges were unable to stop the robot if they couldn’t save the girl? Because she ran, the other girl could have been killed.
‘What type of hero would I be then?’ Iida thought to herself as she watched the male being carried away. Right now, this male had shown all the females there up, even if the others didn’t realize it, showing that men could be heroes too. Even better than the ones here. This was something Iida couldn’t allow, sure the male was cute, but from a family full of heroes, she couldn’t let a male up one her. Not with her family name on the line. Not only that, but she needed to prove to herself that she could be a hero, one that wouldn’t run when someone needs her help.
Whatever the case, she needed to return home and train. Hoping that she did well enough to get into U.A.
