CHAPTER 45
Keisuke was finally going to Tokyo to tear apart Kahori, Ideguchi, and Gouhara with his bare hands. He had needed three days to recover from the shock of finding out that he was a ryōshin in his own right. Most of that time had been spent trying to calm down. Furious and hurt by his family's actions, Keisuke had tried to come to terms with his newly discovered status. When he was not thinking about their betrayal, he thought about Takumi's possible reactions to his shocking news.
Tohji and Akimoto were escorting him in their dark sedan. Akimoto sat beside Tohji in the front. The partially recovered Kurou sat in the back seat beside Keisuke. They were holding an uneasy truce. Knowing the silent man was his best hope of getting Takumi back rankled his nerves. However, Keisuke refused to let personal issues phase him if it meant his family would be intact soon. Had Kurou been the Christian devil incarnate, Keisuke would still work with him without voicing any complaints.
Behind Tohji's sedan, more than a dozen cars with equally angry Walking Man brothers, and their splinter groups were on the road. Man power to win this fight was not the problem in Keisuke's eyes. Getting his musuko's, and Takumi's location was the difficult issue.
On the floor board, the bloodstained satchel with Kahori's plans waited for Asada-sama to see. Kurou remained adamant that only after Kurou turned over the file to the highest ranking Yakuza lord in Tokyo, would he divulge locations for finding Takumi. To get Takumi back, Keisuke had mailed Asada Kiyo and arranged for a meeting three days before. The minute the enforcer handed over the satchel, Kurou was going to give him the information he wanted.
Already raw emotions screamed that Takumi was unable to protect himself. Either by seeing Takeuchi tortured, or from being drugged into compliance, they would rape Takumi, or worse. That knowledge made Keisuke blind with anger. Worst of all was the possibility that he might learn that Takumi was actually dead.
Better to be forced to watch Takumi tormented as he overcame a drug addiction than dead. It was hard enough facing that he would probably lose the quiet man around whom he had wrapped his heart. His own past had caused Takumi far too much pain already. Once he found out about the child Keisuke had not even known about, Takumi was going to explode for certain. Knowing Akiho, Takumi probably had known from the beginning of his imprisonment. The one thing Keisuke had learned less than a week before, was the kind of thing Akiho would have thrown in Takumi's face the moment she got a glimpse of him.
To stay together, Keisuke had to arrange for the youngster he had unwittingly sired. His ryōshin already had custody of the youngster, or so they told him. However, as angry as he was with his family, Keisuke was not certain he could stand leaving things as they were. Yet, for him to get custody of his own child, Takumi would have to leave, or the courts would refuse his claim. He was in a homosexual relationship, so had no chance of being considered. Leaving his musuko in his ryōshin's care seemed the only option.
Frustration gnawed his guts as he thought about how unfair his affair with Akiho had become. It was also his fault, and yet, Keisuke was thoroughly sick of the whole situation. Whether Takumi would even welcome knowing about his surprise child was another unknown. In a perfect world where he could get custody, which Keisuke knew did not exist, and Takumi would have to want the same thing. Even if he took care of the child and visited his musuko at his ryōshin's home, Takumi might resent the situation enough to leave.
The sedan rolled to a stop in a toll booth line as Keisuke ignored his companions. His thoughts buzzed and stung as he wrestled with himself. Fears, such as Kurou's information being a dead end tore at Keisuke's mind as the distance to Tokyo slowly shrank. He fought down that unpleasant thought each time it rose. They would get Kurou to his meeting, and get Takumi and the rest back immediately afterward. If the Yakuza interfered, Keisuke would fight. There was nothing left to lose now that his back was against the wall.
"Are you certain you want to go through with this? We're talking about meeting an actual Yakuza leader, Keisuke-kun. I'm not certain how to feel about this deal of yours. I mean this is a big time criminal overlord we're meeting."
"Takumi's running out of time, Tohji. Arai and his kid sister's bodies washed up on a beach a couple weeks ago. The authorities can't do anything with our information because of their stupid protocols. A lot of them are probably hiding behind their rules because they might have to face off with dangerous criminals to rescue Takumi and the others. They shipped my teammates with their families off to America as a protective measure. They did that with the damned idea that Fumihiro, Matsimoto, and Takumi are already dead filling their heads." Keisuke muttered.
"That's not my point, baka. Detective Sugano said he only allowed you to remain outside Kēsatsu custody if you kept a low profile. This isn't a low profile by any stretch of the imagination. I'm worried it's going to land you behind bars!" Tohji snapped back.
"I'll keep looking for Takumi until hell freezes over, or his dead body's found!" Keisuke bellowed. "We're going to find him while he's still alive if possible. The same goes for Fumihiro, Takeuchi, and Matsimoto. I have to keep going, Tohji! I also have a musuko I didn't even know about that's getting hurt by these bastards! Kurou said he'll give us a location once he delivers the file! We also have enough back up to bust Takumi and the others out! I don't give a damn if I do go to prison over this! I have to save minasan!"
"Calm down, my friend. Tohji's just worried about us getting into unnecessary trouble." Akimoto's voice sounded as moody as Keisuke felt. "I know we can't ignore Kurou's information, and the reason he's adamant to deliver the file. It's going to be much harder to get anything done if the Yakuza decides to interfere with us is all."
Keisuke snorted as he looked up into the rearview to catch Tohji's eye. "I won't let some greedy whore drug Takumi and use him the way that file says he's going to get used. She's obsessed with me which is the reason she has my musuko too. I can't let this slide! Would you if you were in my place?"
Akimoto turned and faced him, eyebrows dipping to the bridge of his nose. "You still having a fit over the part you read that says this Kahori will use some kind of Chinese herbal aphrodisiac concoction that makes them into sex crazed lunatics?"
"You've never seen the misery someone drying out goes through after getting hooked on that shit. I was forced to deal with it when Akiho tried to get clean! The isha san warned me that most junkies can't stay clean once they get hooked! It also kills them after several doses, Akimoto. I won't let that happen to Takumi if I can stop it."
Akimoto growled. "Akiho once told you that she never cared who fucked her when she was on that garbage. That's the real reason you're so damned pissy right now. You can't stand the idea that your boyfriend could wind up in someone else's bed."
"You're wrong, Akimoto!" Keisuke's already strained temper ignited as he barked at the bigger man. "So long as Takumi's still alive, that's the only thing that matters to me. I'm angry that he's getting hurt because of me. Everything that is happening to him is my fault."
"Aki-kun, I can't believe you'd say something that disturbing! You've been harsh a lot with Keisuke when he most needs our support, not your vicious tongue." Tohji's quiet wrath was as frigid as Keisuke's heated come back.
"Call it motivation to keep him mad enough to move forward. Keisuke's too damned depressed if I don't needle him, baby. "
"It's still wrong, Aki. Knock it off or I'll make you wish you had!" Tohji snarled.
Kurou spoke. "Asada-sama won't be a problem for any of you. With Asada-sama involved, getting all your friends back in good shape will be easier. He can force Kahori, and Gouhara to release them unharmed. Otherwise, your friends might die before we can get to them. Forcing our way into Kahori's lair isn't as easy as you might think it will be."
"Nani if this Kahori refuses to return Fujiwara and the others to Asada?" Tohji pulled up to the booth. He rolled down the window and paid the fee. Receiving their ticket, he put the car into gear and headed back onto the main road.
Kurou resumed the conversation once they were traveling again. "She won't dare disobey Asada-sama once he sees this file. That carries a death penalty. Shimoda-sama forbid this plan, and was removed by most of his lieutenants wrongfully. This folder insures his murderers will be brought to justice, and they will uphold Yakuza laws. Kumagai-sama will strip Gouhara of his position, and Kahori will suffer for breaking our iron clad laws. Ideguchi's men must have abducted Fujiwara and the others. That means the Yakuza will also bring him to justice because of all the news broadcasts that have been flying on the airwaves and in the papers. The Syndicate was already under investigation for Quai Tou's shooting incident. This will bury most of the Syndicate."
"Shitamura said that Kahori has people in chains that aren't supposed to be in them. How great can your ironclad laws be if the Yakuza lets her get by with slavery? She even has my musuko who is only nani, three-years-old?" Keisuke demanded to know.
The black clad man shrugged. "Mitani and her siblings are part of a gray area, Takahashi. They always have been. Their okasān continued to increase her debts throughout her lifetime. Their situation was their ryōshin's doing. Her body was too wasted to use as a commodity to repay her debt. Since so many children are like their ryōshin, it is only a matter of time before most create their own drug debts. We have no rules against children or other relatives paying off outstanding drug debts in the junkie's place. Their okasān sold them to satisfy her drug debt. She continued to lengthen their slavery time until she died of an overdose."
Akimoto snapped, "No one on Keisuke's racing team is a drug addict with an outstanding bill. So, if your iron laws are so great, how come they got kidnaped to use in some sordid sex related business?"
"Because they have no outstanding debts, Asada-sama and Kumagai-sama will punish the Syndicate members involved. They alone are powerful enough to get your street racing team free without a fight. The same goes for the shonen. Kahori and Gouhara used this scheme to get rid of Shimoda-sama who followed Yakuza laws without fail. Your friends are part of a power grab using the other leaders' desperation, nothing more."
Keisuke sighed. "Are you forgetting the three drug seizures? They can claim those as an outstanding drug debt. This is also about revenge on me, Kurou. I made it impossible for your Syndicate to take over Akagi area. You've admitted that Mogi made it all too easy for Kahori and Gouhara to resurrect the problems I caused your drug ring a few years ago. You said that got the leaders to agree to her plan. They want to get even with me. Your Syndicate will use Takumi, and my shonen as leverage against me."
"The lieutenants are desperate for the promised money to save their own necks. They do hate your guts, so signed on willingly because your gangster friends humiliated them, Takahashi. However, Asada-sama and Kumagai-sama have the power to crush them and they know it. They'll turn Kahori and the others over without a fight once they have to face their overlords."
"I still can't believe she thinks she can make that much money off Fujiwara and the others. That doesn't make any sense to me. Nani can she do to a three-year-old? Don't answer that. I'm sure I'd puke if you told me, Kurou." Akimoto lifted a hand to ward off the second part of the possible answer.
"You've all seen the manga she's selling. With Fujiwara in her custody, she stands to make a lot more money than you realize. Capture Takahashi too, and she can put them together in live action videos for the market much faster than her slaves can draw out different storylines. Plus, I've seen better pictures of Fujiwara since I've been staying in Gunma. I know the signs she saw when she looked at the Project D website. There's a very good reason for her to want him in her stable too."
"Nani are you talking about? Nani signs?" Keisuke turned his head to frown at the man sharing the back seat with him.
"I'm an enforcer. I got something of a crash course in facial features and body shapes that make a profit in the skin trade from Kahori's main slave, Tung Tzu several years ago. Skin traders want specific eye shapes and facial features in prostitutes. Fujiwara's eyes are the number one reason Kahori's people took him. He also has full lips which give other indications Kahori would have noticed at a glance."
Akimoto was humming in a thoughtful tone. "He does have bedroom eyes. They are pretty damn sexy. I saw that the first time I met him."
"Akimoto?!" Keisuke clenched his fists and glared at his friend.
"He's exactly right, Takahashi. That's the kind of reaction Kahori had to Fujiwara's image on Project D's website. Those are signs she had me looking for when a debt became too large, and the Syndicate heads sent me in to collect the bill. When the junkie, or someone close to them, fits her parameters, they get offered a way to work their debts off in her whore houses. If they're photogenic enough, they can even star in a b rated porn flick or two to repay their debts. Some have even made a profit by taking her deals. Most of her stables are voluntary in her whore and slut houses to pay off their debts. Some are there simply because they would rather be prostitutes. Occasionally, the debts are large enough that Kahori sells a forcefully taken family member to another slaver to recover some losses."
Keisuke shuddered as he thought about Kurou's deadpan words. Forcefully taken fit Takumi's situation perfectly. The same circumstance applied to Matsimoto, Fumihiro, and Takeuchi. Takumi was shy, and had a hellish temper when provoked. He was not going to willingly whore for the Syndicate. The thought that he also had a child which Kahori could sell before he saved the shonen, made Keisuke angrier. Would Kahori do something that twisted to make a few yen before they could get any locations out of Kurou?
"If this onna sells Fujiwara, or the others, how will we ever find them?" Tohji's depressed voice caught at his heart.
"Asada-sama is the only hope you have if that happens. He can purchase them back from the traders in China. Kahori would have shipped your friends over there to be sold on the Black Market. With Fujiwara hurt so badly, she'll have to get him looking good before thinking about selling him. I know she imports several herbal compounds that get rid of scars and blemishes. I'm sure we have plenty of time before that happens."
"Nani about the others, Kurou-san? This Kahori bitch could have sold them by now." Tohji pressed his point.
"Not if Kahori thinks they can be used to force Fujiwara to do her bidding. While she thinks they are useful to secure Fujiwara's cooperation, she won't sell them." The soft-spoken certainty in Kurou's voice both relieved and alarmed Keisuke.
They made the rest of their trip in silence. None wished to share their thoughts as the kilometers flew past. Several glances back showed Keisuke that eight of the cars he knew were still within visual range. Kurou directed them off the highway and into a pull out as they entered the Tokyo area suburbs. Soon they parked all of the Gunma cars in the rest area. Kurou gave a few directions and headed the convoy out again.
Most would go to a nearby family restaurant to wait. Gingo's group would follow Tohji's sedan to the rendevous site another two blocks beyond that. A touch of unease awoke as Keisuke watched most of his friends pull into the restaurant parking lot. Yakuza members were nothing at which to scoff. Having only the three of them in Tohji's car, and four more fighters in Gingo's car seemed sadly underpowered as they pulled into another parking lot farther down the road. Kurou took the satchel and tucked it close to his body. Gingo and the rest stayed close as they went to a bar on the side street. Plenty of people were out in force and it was only four in the afternoon Keisuke noticed.
"Stay close. If Gouhara or the others are going to strike, it will be within the next three buildings. After that we should be in the clear." Kurou's voice remained emotionless even now. Keisuke's eyes kept a sharp lookout as Gingo and the others kept close ranks around the enforcer.
It was a shock when they rounded the corner and Samantha Singing-Wolf was standing in the doorway to a bar. "Well, look who the cat drug in?" She spoke in English with a rakish smile.
"Nani are you doing here?" Keisuke blurted out in his native tongue before thinking.
"Same as you, I 'spect." She continued in English at a slower pace to make certain he got the message.
Keisuke frowned but followed her lead. "Why aren't you in America, . . . playing watch dog over my family, Sammy-chan?"
"Jordan doesn't have anything in their contract with Robi about saving your kid. Robi screwed up royally by hiring them, and now I have to fix it. I brought a couple of my friends to make sure you get your whole family back in one piece. It also helps get my daddy to help you out. He hates the Jordan group as much as I do."
"Who is your friend, Takahashi?" Kurou asked in their native language.
"This is Singing-Wolf Sammy-chan. She knows me from Project D. It was she, and Asada Kiyo that saved us when Mogi showed up and began shooting people. This is Kurou, an enforcer. He has information about naze Takumi and the rest of my teammates were wrongfully abducted." Keisuke made their introductions slow enough for Samantha to follow.
"Singing Wolf?" Kurou's voice held a cautious note that shocked Keisuke after hearing nothing emotional in it for so long.
"You may have heard about my otosān. He works for the American embassy. I suppose he's pretty well known in the body guard business. In fact, he's sitting inside right now." Sammy continued to smile in a dangerous way.
"That I have. Now, I need to see Asada-sama. I have the package Shimoda-sama died trying to deliver to Kumagai-sama a few weeks ago." Kurou tilted his head waiting for her to move.
With an elaborate gesture Sammy waved Kurou inside and gave Keisuke a wink. Uncertain of how to respond he frowned and moved inside on Kurou's heels. He could hear the others following as their feet shuffled across the flooring. Sammy trotted up beside him and grabbed onto his arm tugging him toward the side of the room, away from Kurou.
"Come on over and meet everyone." Again she spoke in English.
"I need to . . . "
"Let Kurou do his job. Kiyo will come and get you once his gramps reads the file. I can guarantee that. I know how these guys work better than you do. Trust me. Be accommodating and things will go your way. Them four won't let you through without a fight anyway. There was an attempt on Kumagai recently and their hackles are up, Keisuke."
It was a point he could not argue. Four glaring men stood not far from a large table at the back of the bar room. He stopped, turning his head to the side so the others would hear. "Minasan, let's find a place to sit until we're needed."
Gingo and Ryota looked startled as did the rest, yet they all nodded in compliance. Sammy led them to another part of the bar. The sight of Ryosuke sitting with several Gaijin, almost stopped Keisuke in his tracks again. Haggard did not begin to describe his older brother's expression. He faced a very dark skinned man who was speaking. The dark room made the older man with long silver streaked, dark hair appeared darker skinned than Shinsei. It had to be Sammy's otosān Keisuke realized as they got closer to the table. Two other large men and a very stern looking onna rounded out the group.
Sammy whirled and faced his friends. "Most of these guys don't speak Nihongo, Otosān and I will have to translate, but I don't understand if you shonen talk to fast. So if you have anything to say then be sure to say it slow enough I can figure it out."
"Sounds fair to me. I was beginning to think Keisuke was going to have to translate for us since you've mostly spoken in English, or so it sounds like to me." Ryota answered
"Gomen for that. When I get stressed, I forget to talk in Nihongo for the most part. And this qualifies as stressful." Sammy chuckled.
"Naze is Aniki here, Sammy? He's supposed to be in your country right now where he's safe!" Keisuke snarled at the onna standing beside him.
"Ryosuke's here to keep the damned peace in your family, Keisuke. Once we got your okasān to simmer down, and got to the bottom of her hysterics, I thought he was gonna take her head off. I didn't know your aniki had such a vicious temper. He hides it pretty damned well."
"Nani?" Keisuke was facing the shorter onna while frowning. Her words made it sound as if Aniki had not known about the situation the way he had assumed.
"Oh come on?! Do you honestly think your onīsan wouldn't get mad at finding out your ryōshin were hiding something that major from you and him? That's downright unbelievable in anyone's rule book on fair play." Sammy gave him a frown in return.
"I thought he knew about it too. I was in the hospital during her trial, so I had no way of knowing any of this was happening." Keisuke scratched his head and vented a heavy sigh.
"Yeah well, time for you to go and have a talk with your onīsan. Ryosuke's in a damned bad mood about this whole mess."
Keisuke nodded and walked over to the table. The others began grabbing seats at another table close by. "Aniki, I didn't expect to see you here."
"Keisuke. It's a relief to see you're still alive." Ryosuke's voice sounded as tired as his gaunt face implied.
