Tazzy and Miss Murder: Thanks for the reviews. I'll add more once my head stops hurting. Double shifts are vile.

*******

“Aw, fuck!” was Hunter’s only reply. *Gun!*

Gun bolted ramrod straight upon hearing his twin’s mental call. *Hunt, what’s wrong?*

*Hell of a lot. Get Abel out to the gardens.*

*On our way.* Gun snagged Abel by the arm and dragged him out of the room.

Skye and Reicher had both heard the summons and followed them out with Oracle tagging along behind them.

“Does anyone want to inform me as to why the party is moving and what’s going on?” Oracle asked, sounding slightly amused.

“We don’t know yet. All we know is that Hunt wanted Gun to bring Abel out to the garden,” Reicher said with a shrug. “I guess we’ll find out when we get there.”

Gun and Abel stopped a few yards away from Hunt and Circe. She was sitting on the ground, holding her head and looking blearily around. When her head turned in their direction Gun let out a long low whistle and shook his head.

“What?” Abel asked.

“You know Circe is a natural channel, right?”

“Yes. I remember. Who’s she channeling now?”

“I’m not sure. But I know it has to be someone extremely strong because Circe’s shields are almost impossible to get through unless she allows someone in. She gets it from Oracle, that man’s shields would have any telepath’s head ringing for days it they tried to breach them.”

“Don’t I know it,” Reicher said, coming up behind his son. “What’s the problem?”

“Not sure yet,” Gun said walking over to his siblings. “Hunt?”

Hunt looked up at him then around his twin to Abel. “I think someone *really* wants to talk to you,” he said, turning toward Circe. “Can you stand?”

“I’m not certain. I haven’t been in a physical body for centuries,” she said. But the voice was not Circe’s.

Abel’s knees almost collapsed under him as the voice registered to him even though he hadn’t heard it in almost a thousand years. Skye held his arms to support him for a moment while he got his bearings and shook off some of the shock. He hurried over to where Circe was sitting and dropped down in front of her.

“Lilith?” he said cautiously, not really daring to hope.

She reached up and brushed his hair away from his face. “I might have known you’d remember my voice. If we may have a little time?” she asked the others standing around them.

Skye nodded and nudged her sons away. Reicher was, of course, completely mutinous to the thought of leaving one of his children in a vulnerable state. “I’m not leaving my daughter when she’s like this.”

“Schuldig,” Oracle said warningly.

“No. You, of all people, know she can’t access any of her abilities in channel state and I’ll be damned if I leave her when she’s like that.”

“She’s in the garden at one of Blaze’s homes. Do you seriously think for an instant *anything* unwanted is getting in here?”

“Apparently something unwanted already got in here otherwise we wouldn’t be having this argument, Brad,” he said, folding his arms across his chest.

“I can promise that she will be promptly and properly returned to you, Herr Reicher. But I need to speak to Abel and at the moment this is the only option open to me.”

“You have ten minutes. If you aren’t gone from my daughter in that time, I will forcibly remove you.”

“I understand. I would never intentionally harm Circe for anything.”

“Good intentions don’t count for much as far as I’m concerned. You now have nine minutes,” Reicher said, walking away but only so far as to be out of earshot while still having them in his line of vision.

“Stop worrying, love,” Oracle said to his husband. “You know this doesn’t happen often so it must be something important.”

“That’s part of the problem. At least when it happens with you it’s usually a message from the gods. With Circe it could be anything or anyone. Plus I really don’t like her being alone with Abel knowing what’s going on in that boy’s head.”
