The next morning at the main house.
Akito was up and ready to go by time Haru and Momiji left for school. He was wearing his usual black outfit. He got into the car with Hatori and Hatori drove them to the hospital. Akito was silent the entire way there. Hatori parked out in front of the hospital and went inside. Akito followed Hatori down to Mai�s room. Hatori knocked on the door.
"Come in."
He opened the door and Akito walked into the room. Mai smiled when she saw him, "Akito I am glad you came."
"I had to come see you."
Looking at Hatori, "Thank you for bringing him."
Smiling, "You are welcome. I will let the two of you talk. Akito I will be out in the hall when you are ready to leave."
Akito just nodded as he walked up to the bed. He sat down on the edge of the bed facing Mai. Mai put her hand up against the side of his face, "I am glad you came."
Tears were welling up in his eyes, "I am sorry, I didn�t mean to hurt you."
"Don�t cry Akito, I am ok."
"I know, but I feel guilty. I just... got... angry." He was starting to have a hard time speaking.
"Sshh, its ok my son. I am not angry with you and I do not blame you. I still love you as I have always loved you."
Laying his head against her shoulder, he was crying again. "I am sorry."
"I know you are."

Mai just comforted him as he cried. She really wished that he would call her mother at least once. Mai could feel how hot he was, "Oh Akito your fever is back. Hatori!" she yelled knowing that he was right outside the door.
Walking into the room, "What�s wrong?"
"Akito�s fever is worse please take him home."
Looking up, "No I want to stay here."
"Son please go home and rest. I will be home in a few days."
"But I..."
"Please Akito go home for me."
"OK I will." He got up slowly, but had to sit down again when he suddenly became dizzy. Hatori immediately walked up to him and put his hand against Akito�s forehead.
"Akito you are burning up."
"I am Fine."
"No you�re not, go home Akito." Replied Mai.
Akito muttered something under his breath but allowed Hatori to help him to his feet, "Mai I will call you tonight."
"Just take care of him."
"I will I promise." He said as he led Akito out of the room.
Mai had no more visitors until that afternoon when Yuki and the others came by after school. Tohru Honda was there with them.
"How was school?"
"OK." Said Haru.
"Momiji I hope that you are behaving yourself for Hatori."
"I am." Replied Momiji. He had a smile on his face.
"Good."
"How are you doing Mai?" asked Yuki.
"If everything stays the way it is I will be allowed to go home tomorrow. My arm will be in a sling for a few more weeks. Hatori will be able to take care of me at home."
"That will be good." Replied Tohru.
They stayed for a while longer and then left.
At Hatori�s house
Hatori was sitting at his desk staring at the picture of Kana. He sighed and closed his eyes. For some reason he had not been able to stop thinking about Kana. He still loved her but he knew that there was no way that they could ever get back together, but that didn�t stop him from thinking about her. Then there was Mai. He had known her all of his life. She was like and older sister to him, but when had he started loving her. Her kindness and good heart had always made him feel good. She had been there to help him deal with having to erase Kana�s memories. That was probably the first time that the bond between them started to grow, though at the time he had still been mourning over Kana and didn�t want to admit how he felt about Mai.
Yesterday when she had been hurt he kept thinking that he couldn�t loose her and just how much he loved her.
"You missing her won�t change things."
Hatori turned suddenly to find Shigure standing in the doorway.
"Shigure what are you doing here?"
"I came to see how things were going and to ask how Mai was doing."

There was an angry look on his face, "And you couldn�t of called?"
"Nope, anyway don�t you think that Kana would want you to be happy."
"Yes, but I can�t just forget about her."
"No one is asking you to. Mai loves you more then you know. Just open your heart and allow her inside."
"Yesterday when she was hurt all I could think was how much I loved her."
"Then maybe you should talk to her."
"I will but first I have to take care of Akito."
"Did you take him to see Mai this morning?"
"Yes, but that is not the problem. Akito has come down with a really bad fever."
"Is he going to be ok."
"I don�t know, but I hope so. I don�t think that Mai can handle loosing her son."
"When is she coming home?"
"Tomorrow, I may have you go get her because I don�t think that I will be able to leave Akito."
"OK well I had better get home."
