-You know what they say about Deveels…-
Bruce snorted as he stared down at the burnt out husks before him, wondering why in the world his quarry had even come to this dump of a place. All around him lay trash and broken articles too numerous to name. Pulling out his instructions from his cloak, a huge dark covering that shrouded almost his entire body, he once again went over the description and detail inscribed on the papers. The mercenary still didn’t understand why someone would pay through the nose for a simple book, but with the payday being among the best Bruce had ever seen, there wasn’t any chance that he was going to turn down this job.
Regardless, it was clearly apparent that the kid with the book wasn’t here. Grasping a pokeball in his hand, the only one he owned, before tossing it before him, his pokegirl forming before him. She stood a head shorter then him, not to surprising considering the mans large height and girth, dressed in a form fitting costume that covered most of her visible skin, leaving only a v cut about her neck to show off her ample bosom. Seeing the wrecks about her, she raised an eye at her master. “Another job, Bruce?” She asked, her long ears twitching slightly in annoyance.
“Yes, Jaina, another job.” He said with is gruff voice, moving beside her. The pokegirl growled lightly, not at all impressed with her masters decision to take a job without consulting her.
“So, what are we going after this time?” She asked, ears twitching and nose exhaling as she readied her senses, preparing to track down what ever Bruce had decided to go after.
“A book. And why it’s important, I haven’t got a clue.” Bruce said, staring at his girl. “Simple fact is, our employer wants it and he’s paying top credit for it. We’re going to do our best to get it to him.”
Jaina blinked, frowning at the thought of what they had to do. Of course, they’ve done worse things then going after a book, but at times the female really wished that they didn’t work for anyone that would name a high price. In the end, it was her tamer that decided what was to happen, and luckily, he had always ensured their own safety over money when it came to any job that got really sticky.
“Jaina?”
“Yes, Bruce, I coming.” She said, following her master, ready to do her job.
Silence surrounded the young tamer, together with its brother darkness to prevent him from perceiving anything. In a way, it was oddly peaceful, no worries or fears piercing through the protective shroud. But then, evil often lies in the dark, waiting and biding its time before it strikes. Such as a green scaled, yellow eyed, sharp toothed demon gripping his strong fingers around a pokegirl.
“Ah! Aiyoku!” Rui shouted, sitting up, his face landing right into two soft pillows, his hands shooting up to grasp them in shock.
“Hold on there, fella, I only do that to those tamin’ me.” Said the pillows, turning out to be a rather generous pair of breasts connected to a slightly amused looking Nurse Joy.
“Sorry!” Rui yelped, jumping back against the bed he laid on. The healer pokegirl chuckled, smiling at him and pushing up her bosom a bit. “It’s alright cutie, I’d probably would have let you cop a feel anyway.”
“That’ll be all, Miranda.” Aiyoku said icily, stepping from behind the other pokegirl and closer to her tamer. The Joy chuckled a bit at the over protectiveness of the Draco before nodding and leaving the two alone, Aiyoku’s eyes following Miranda’s back until the door closed behind her, her temper flaring at the noticeable wiggle of the nurse’s round ass.
“I’m surprised at you, Rui.” The dragon girl said, her eyes still glued to the door in a stare.
“Wha? I didn’t mean to…” Rui started, wanting to defend himself.
“I’m not talking about the Nurse. I’m talking about passing out like that with Aahz!” The girl grumped, clearly unimpressed by her Tamer’s lack of bravery.
“What was I supposed to do? He turned into a Monster right before us!” the male defended, glaring at his pokegirl.
“Trust me, kid, there are things in this world that make me look like a kitten by comparison.” Interrupted Aahz, disguised once more as a human, though no longer the hobo that Rui and his girls had found him as. Instead of rags, he wore a silver shit and simple slacks, his scaly skin now cloaked in skin and a human face hiding his demonic form. Locks of dark hair fanned his face, though his yellow eyes remained the same, marking him as the same creature Rui had met. The young tamer inched away from Aahz, still in his bed. “But really, it’s my own damn fault that I forgot about how my magic might affect you.”
“Affect me?” Rui asked, confused.
“Well, my magic doesn’t really agree with most people. I’m not really going to go into all the details, but let’s say this.” Aahz said, cupping his face with one hand. “In this world, magic is often a misunderstood and mysterious force, one that even today we’re finding new things about. When it comes to my own personal brand, it often has the side effect of actually affecting those who can sense it.”
With that, the disguised demon turned to the tamer, grinning with his deceptive human teeth. “In other words, because you’re so sensitive to magic, it hit you much harder then it would a normal person. That’s why you were out like a light after seeing me.”
“I didn’t even know that was possible.” Aiyoku said, the surprised look on her face shared with her master. True, both tamer and pokegirl had heard of some of the amazing and shocking things magic could do, but passive magic actually affecting someone else without the owner’s consent?
“I would have told you as much. Of course, the fact that you had jumped me when the kid here went out like an orgasming Titmouse kinda prevented me from fully explaining myself.” The disguised man commented, causing a bit of a blush across Aiyoku’s face.
“So, you’re really the Aahz that my uncle talked about?” Rui questioned, still looking at the male before him with a hint of distrust. The disguised being nodded, his arms still crossed across his barrel like chest.
“Yep. And don’t worry, Kid, your uncle had more or less the same reaction to me when we first met.” The demon grinned again, winking at Rui. “Even without my magic, I’m not exactly the friendliest looking guy about.”
Rui chuckled, surprising himself with just how at ease he felt among Aahz, knowing that even disguised he was trying his best to assure Rui that he was on the level. Pulling off the blanket covering his waist, the young tamer set his eyes on the man before him. “Alright Aahz, so what exactly can you do to help us?”
“Depend on what exactly you need help with, kid.” Aahz replied smoothly, arms still crossed about his chest and smile playing on his lips.
“To find the Team clone that took my brother away from me.” The teen replied with a voice seemingly dipped in ice. Aiyoku frowned slightly at the tone, her worry for her master growing with the noticed of his rigid body and piercing stare. She could tell, young as she was, that nothing would stop her tamer from striking revenge to those that did his family wrong and also felt a pang of sorrow, knowing that she would never feel the same for her own brother, the very person who tried to take her by force.
“Well, kid, that’s a pretty tall order there. You know that could very well be a one way ticket to the Grim Reaper, right?”
“I know it’s dangerous.” Rui agreed. “But I also know that Io would do the same for me. I’ve got to at least try to rescue him!”
“You’ve got spunk, kid. I’ll give you that.” Aahz said. Of course, Aahz also knew that spunk would most likely lead the kid and his small harem into loads of trouble, of which would only multiply with them going after a Team.
“First things first, we’ve gotta go get your other girls. Don’t worry, we sent them though a healing cycle as soon as we got here.” Aahz added after Rui’s face lit up with fear, his hands scrambling about his belt for Rosa and Lina’s Pokeballs. “Then we can talk about what exactly I can do to help ya.”
A few minutes later, the trio were in the front of the center, retrieving Rui’s Pokegirls from the nurse. “You should still be in bed.” Miranda chided a frown on her pink lips.
“I’m fine.” Rui said, doing his absolute best to keep his eyes up with the Joy. Was it just him, or had her uniforms top got smaller and showed off a lot more cleavage then when he had ran into them. Miranda sighed, her body moving tantalizingly as she did so, before she passed him his girls and turned to do her rounds, the exaggerated motions of her rump drawing his eyes to it before getting the reprimand via a slap from Aiyoku.
“Well, I’ll be a stinking Harpy. Even my old scar is gone!” Lina remarked, hands running over where her injuries from the fight against the Maggiemite had been, particularly her jaw. The Witch had pretty much gone on like this non stop since she had been let out of her pokeball, amazed at the complete and total recovery she had made.
“You never went to a Center before?” Rui asked.
“Nope. Naga was always trying to make sure she didn’t get balled by any random trainer, and thought going into a Center was asking for just that. Of course, had I known that I would have gotten such healing there; I would have gone after every fight. Not even my magic has been able to patch me up this good!”
Rui smiled, finding his Witch’s constant marvel at the healing, looking to his other pokegirls as well. Rosa, the quiet little Oddtits that could still only say her name, was sitting right next to her master, one arm protectively covering her breasts from view. Even with his attention to them with their taming session, it seemed Rosa would rather not flaunt her lack of ‘talents’. Rui gave her rump a tiny pitch, electing a squeak from the girl, before she stared at him with a blush, a smile curling her lips.
Before him sat Aiyoku, not looking at her tamer at all. Unlike her harem sisters, she hadn’t gone for a healing cycle, opting for little more then a potion from the Nurse so she could keep watch over her tamer. Luckily, she was a Dragon type, so the Maggiemite’s attacks hadn’t hurt her all that much. Still, when he had suggested putting her though a healing cycle, Aiyoku gave him such a look that he instantly shut up. Apparently, the Draco was still mad about the way Rui had ogled Miranda and with her own bust and backside paling in comparison with the Nurse Joy, he could only guess that she felt like a kit next to her. The tamer made a mental note to himself to make it up to her later.
“Well, this is quite interesting.” Aahz muttered to himself. In his hands was the book that Skeeve had given to Rui, its pages old and yellow along with a binding that had seen better days, detailing spells and magical items that laced about the world, most of which were designed for the teaching of the young teen. Skeeve’s really serious about him learning about this stuff. With this behind him, he just might have that chance here that we missed.
“Well, I’ve gotta say, Kid.” Aahz spoke up at last, closing the tome and handing it back Rui. “I think your uncle had the right idea on giving you this. It’ll defiantly give you a head start on your training as well as help you out with finding your brother.”
“You aren’t going to help teach me.” It wasn’t a question. The disguised demon shook his head, breathing out a small sigh.
“As you’ve probably guessed, I’m not exactly from this world. And out of all the people here, only your uncle and Gus know it.” Aahz shook his head. “Not only would I lack the magical coverage that your uncle can supply for me out there, but most of the stuff in this world I find inedible. Gus is the only cook that I know of that can make half way decent food for me.”
“Is there nothing you could do for him? I mean, otherwise all we just went through was for nothing.” Lina spoke up, her eyes still on the book, wondering just what lay in those pages.
“Well, I can teach him a spell, but I’m reluctant.” Aahz said, frowning.
“Why’s that?” Aiyoku asked, speaking for the first time since her harem sisters had joined them.
“It’s mainly got to do with the differences in magic.” The demon answered.
“Differences?”
“What? Did you think that all magic was alike?” Aahz let out a small bark of laughter, shaking his head. “Magic is just like any other profession in the world, there are different styles, names, and actual abilities depending on who, what, and where you’re learning the magic from.”
“I’m not sure I follow.” Rui said, frowning.
“It’s like this, Rui.” Lina stepped in. “Let’s say that you, Aahz and I were all blacksmiths, right? All three of us are going to have general knowledge of our craft as well as the capability to create about the same quality of items. But let’s say the way that I was taught put emphasis on weapons. With that, any weapon I make is going to be better then what you’d make, simply because of that specialization. I’ve got the skills and know how to make those things, compared to you and Aahz who are just regular blacksmiths.”
“Alright, I can see that. Still don’t get the differences in magic though.” Rui said, still thinking about what his pokegirl had said.
“Well,” Aahz picked up, giving the magic pokegirl an impressed nod. “Magic is just the same. There are different ways of using it as well as different, as Lina put it, specializations. When it comes to Pokegirls, they mostly go for the kind of magic that actually has them manipulating the elements about them or are using inherent talents. The magic I use, however, not only uses a different kind of casting, but a different source of magic all together!”
“Is that even possible?” Aiyoku asked, a bit surprised by the apparent complexity of what she once thought had been simple attacks.
“Yeah, it is. And that’s going to be your biggest issue with that book.” Aahz said.
“Why’s that?” Rui asked, his head swimming lightly.
“Well, the book is filled with all sorts of magic, and that’s makes it overall harder to learn.” Aahz replied, staring down at the musty old book once more. “Just think of it this way. You’ve just learned about how to do a spell that just required you to think about it. The next spell you’re trying to learn not only requires you to have specific items, but for them to be used and placed in a certain fashion and at a certain time. That’s a big jump, and some magicians never go further then their own branch of specialized magic because of it.”
“I’ve never knew there was so much behind magic.” Rui stated, leaning back and jumping in surprise a bit when he felt Rosa wiggle against him. The Oddtits had been so quiet, partially, Rui guessed, because she couldn’t yet speak anything more then her name, that Rui had momentarily forgotten that she was even out for all this.
“And that’s why I’m reluctant to teach you that spell. I don’t want you to start off with one kind of magic known to you and end up trying to learn and use the complete opposite.” Aahz said. “It’d be like trying to ruin your chances of learning before you even get started.”
“Is it really that bad?” Rui asked.
“Not so much, unless you’re trying to do the really big spells.” Lina answered.
“Well, I’m kinda screwed anyway.”
“Why’s that?” Aahz frowned, staring at the young tamer.
“I’ve got a blood gift, Spellcaster.” Rui explained, staring at both Demon and Pokegirl. “When I was young, my brother got hurt, really bad and my mom used a healing spell on him. Ever since then, I’ve been able to use it as well, though when I use it, I’m unable to do it again for a day or so.”
“So that’s how you healed me.” Aiyoku said, staring at her tamer.
“Yeah. It was a good thing too, since I didn’t have any potions on me at the time.” The tamer said, smiling at her.
“In that case, I might as well as teach you anyways.” Aahz grunted, hands on his hips. “Healing spells aren’t all that easy to learn and if you picked one up, then you might as well start from somewhere.”
“Besides,” Lina supplied. “It’s not like Rui’s going to leaf through the book until he finds a spell he likes and tries to learn it.”
“Alright, Alright, I get it.” The disguised demon relented. “Ok, first things first is that you’ve gotta understand that the kind of magic I’m used to working with is, as I’ve said, different from others.”
“Alright, I understand that.” Rui nodded. “Just in what way is it different?”
“Deception.” Aahz replied bluntly.
“Huh?”
“Kid, there’s something you’ve gotta understand. For ever upstanding and honest magician, witch, and magic user about, there are those who lie through their teeth so well that it makes a dishonest thief look like an upstanding member of society.” Aahz explained. “In fact, ever magic user knows that when you’re up against someone who doesn’t know about magic, specifically its limitations, then you can use that lack of knowledge to your advantage.”
“In other words, Knowledge very well IS power.” Lina said, nodding in agreement. “It’s like using one spell to fool someone else that it’s something else entirely.”
“And that’s exactly what all magicians, be they honest ones or not, have got to use if they’re wanting to not only live in the world, but thrive.” Aahz finished, grinning widely.
“So, what is this spell?” Rui asked, trying to not let the overwhelming aspect of magic he had just learned overwhelm him. Who would have known that people could take things to such a degree when dealing with magic?
“It’s been called many things over the years, but in truth, it’s a Disguise spell. With it, you’ll be able to change the appearance of yourself and others. In fact, as you’ve probably guessed by now, that’s the same spell I’m using to make myself look human!” Aahz barked with a laugh.
The spell turned out to be much easier then Rui would have guessed, wondering for a moment if this didn’t give creditability to what both Aahz and Lina said about people exaggerating just how strong magic was. All he really had to do was close his eyes and envision the likeness of someone else and place it over the person he wanted to spell to be cast on.
“It didn’t work.” Rui said, a little downhearted as he opened his eyes after casting the spell the first time.
“That’s because you’ve cast the spell, kid.” Aahz answered, chuckling at him. “Think of this spell as an illusion, a distortion of what people will normally see. But since you’re the one that made the spell, your mind isn’t fooled because it knows the truth.”
“Really?” Rui asked, turning to Lina, the subject of the spell.
“Just do me a favor next time.” Lina gripped, crossing her arms at her tamer. “Next time you use that spell, I want to be a woman and not you’re Uncle Skeeve.”
Lina’s identification of the choice of Rui’s spell surprised the young tamer and convinced him that this was real magic he was dealing with. Not wanting to upset the girl, he quickly did the reverse of the spell, restoring the Witch’s normal appearance.
“Now understand this, Kid.” Aahz stared at him with a straight eye, a frown on his human face. “Magic isn’t something to be played around with. Even with what I’ve said about magicians and the like hamming up what they can do, there are those who could fell a Whorizard if they choose the right spell, so you better keep you’re wits about you.”
Rui nodded, trying to rid the thoughts in his mind about what kind of spell could take out such a powerful Pokegirl.
“One last thing.” Aahz said thoughtfully. “What was the deal with that Maggiemite from before?”
“I’m not sure, she seemed interested in me for some reason.”
“You’ve got to be careful around those girls,” Lina warned, staring at Rui. “They aren’t right in the head, even WHEN they’re tamed.”
“I’ll be sure to keep that in mind, Lina, if we ever meet her again.”
