Chapter 5
Wally shivered as the wind blew against him. He’d never flown this fast before; it was exciting and terrifying at the same time. “It’s cold!” he shouted over the roar of the wind. Nimh smirked deviously and wrapped an arm around the smaller trainer, pulling him close.
Wally’s face turned beet-red at the contact. He hadn’t been this close to someone since he was a child, and never if it was someone outside of his family. The only thing that kept him from pulling away was that it was much warmer there, and with Nimh’s jacket wrapped around him the wind didn’t nip so badly.
“Where are we going?”
“We’re off to Johto first.” Nimh replied. “You’re getting the badges there before we go anywhere else.”
Wally blinked. “But why?”
Nimh was silent for a minute before he finally replied. “Because it’ll give you something to keep living for.”
“So you know then...” The older trainer nodded solemnly, keeping his gaze straight ahead. Wally snuggled back into Nimh’s warmth.
“I’m also trailing something that might be able to help you.” The older boy spoke after a few minutes. “That was another reason I didn’t contact anyone- I was in the middle of nowhere, trying to find this thing.”
“What is it?” The green-haired boy asked, curious.
“I’m... not sure, really. It looks human, but it also looks like a Pokémon... It was all white, with a long tail and small wings, and really long hair... I think it had yellow eyes too, big yellow eyes that looked so innocent and full of life...” Nimh frowned. “Anyway, I found some very interesting stuff about this creature. Apparently there’s some legend or ancient records of it, and they all say it has very powerful healing... Even more than that of a Gardevoir. Supposedly it even was able to bring people back to life...”
Wally listened intently. It could bring people back to life...? He smiled thoughtfully. “Maybe it’s an angel.”
Nimh chuckled softly. “It could be.”
“But if you’re looking for it, why are we going to Johto? Wouldn’t such a rare Pokémon be somewhere... less crowded?”
The older trainer grinned. “Nearly every time I saw it, it was in a city, or at least close to one. I think it likes being around people. The last time I saw it, it was near Goldenrod.”
The conversation died down, and Wally dared to peek down to see Mossdeep City speed by underneath them. “...Where is Goldenrod?”
“Straight east from Mossdeep, at the speed we’re going we should be there in less than an hour.”
