Honesty and Resolve

This wasn't like her. This wasn't like her at all. She was suppose to be the naturally affectionate yet unattainable host member. The one who could endear themselves to anyone with an honest response and light smile, but still be able to gently (or not so gently in Tamaki's case) turn away any enamored feelings directed towards her.

Despite all that, though, she now found herself cleaning and rearranging furniture for an evening of heated discovery. She could feel her cheeks flame with that thought. She had to be utterly out of her mind. There were parts of her brain that were screaming for her to turn him away when he arrived on her doorstep, yet the more carnal part of her nature that she only today realized existed was demanding she pull him in, push him to the floor, and climb on top of that sinewy body.

She stifled the moan that almost slipped out with a groan of frustration as she plopped herself down on the couch. Her head swung back, and her eyes closed in concentration. When had she started thinking this way? Sure, she knew that puberty would warrant hormonal changes and cause sensible young men and women to do foolish things, but she had gone through all the hormonal shifting a few years ago. Never in her studies had she come across anything that would explain this sudden and overwhelming reaction. At least, not on a chemical level.

With a deep breath, Haruhi opened her eyes and refocused her thoughts on the object that had started making her feel and react so irrationally. Morinozuka Takashi. The stoic man of loyal mystery who could make a girl swoon with a low-timbered "Hn." He rarely spoke, but she always treasured the moments he did. Such an unreadable man, but lately she had been spending a lot more time with him. At first, she thought that this extra time would mean she learn how to read him better, but as time moved on she came to the conclusion that only when he wanted to be read could she ever see past his well-trained mask.

Although, lately, that mask was becoming less prevalent in her presence. Honey had noticed it, too. Just last week while the group was setting up for a Victorian style host party the eldest member had suddenly come to a stop when Mori had smiled down at her slight blush of excitement over a fresh plate of ootoro. To her disappointment, the tiny blonde was quick to whisk her away from her treasured delight while chiming "Haru-chan!" Once away from prying eyes, he had turned to her with an expression that made her still. Never had she seen the lolita-type look his own age, but his seriousness added on all the years that his bunnies and cakes had taken away.

"Haruhi-nee-chan," the honorific he used took her by surprise. "I want you to know that I'm happy to let go if that means he can continue to smile like that." At first she was confused by his words. Who was he letting go of? And why would his smile matter? He must have seen her confusion, because with quick ease he had leaned over and pointedly allowed his eyes to travel to his beloved cousin and back to stare directly into her eyes. Her face felt warm then, and for some reason she felt... felt... well, relieved. She didn't know why, though.

If she wanted to be completely honest with herself (which she really didn't), then she would have to admit that something had been changing between her and Mori. What had at first been mild curiosity of the mysterious man had somehow warped into a genuine pleasure of his presence. Until that moment, she had been able to rationalize every moment away. Yet, now that Honey- perhaps one of the perceptive members of the club- had come to notice a difference, there would be little she could do to continually deny it. She was attracted to her tall, dark senpai.

She had always figured that she didn't have a type, but the more time she spent with this man the more wrong she understood she had been. Yet, it wasn't just his obvious traits that attracted him to her. She knew he had flaws. He was overprotective, and had difficulty in social situations. He preferred actions over words even when words would settle a matter, and no matter if he was happy or sad- his expression rarely changed. Yet, it was these things that warmed her to him even more than his powerful gentleness.

She wanted him, and that scared her more than thunder. It would be one thing if she just wanted his body, and oh great Kami what a nice body that was. But she wanted more than that. She wanted the man. This couldn't be happening, though. She was suppose to be studying and making her mother proud. She was suppose to be becoming an independent woman. A force to be reckoned with in school and one day court. Yet, now her vision of the future was becoming hazy. She didn't have time for hazy. She couldn't be doing this. She couldn't be falling in love. A sexual tryst she could handle. Plenty of independent woman were capable of keeping a lover on the side, but this was more than just that. She knew it. She could play games with herself and try to pretend otherwise, but she was quickly falling for this man.

What could she do, though? He was coming over in a matter of minutes, and she knew that tonight would be the turning point. She didn't have the strength to tell him to leave. Yet, she knew what he would want as he stepped through that door. Slow, meaningful lovemaking. Gentle gasps, worshipping touches, and harmonized completion. She couldn't have that. Such tenderness would push her over the edge, and then she would lose it all. All her plans and dreams would be lost forever.

No, there had to be another way. A loophole she just hadn't thought of yet. Something she could do to relieve the tension without losing grip of her heart.

Haruhi practically jumped as the thought hit her. She knew what she had to do. Stay in control. It was so simple she almost laughed that it took her so long to figure out. She was good at remaining ahead, and this could be her ultimate test. If she could just stay one step in front of the man then that would prove she could stay ahead of anyone. Her cheeks flushed again as she went to her room and began to mentally make plans on how to avoid slow love-making.

She- Fujioka Haruhi- was going to jump him- Morinozuka Takashi- the moment he walked through her door.
