Thank you all for for reading!
To Nadja:
Thank you for your nice review. My English definetly needs improvement. It's the 'best' you get in four years of public-school.Unfortunately language-studies had no priority at my school.

Since the evening of the dinner, Raven's thoughts circled around Raoul and his own strange behavior towards the man. At that time it didn't bother him to be called 'pet'; in the cold light of day, he felt a strong need for coffee, every time he thought about it, hoping for the bitter brew to erase the flavor of the appellation.
It was a matter of pride to show no surrender. Every time he heard the front door being opened, it was a sign to back down to his room and hide there indefinitely. Only, Raoul wouldn't let him. Every time, he touched him, Raven felt the urge to slap his hand away; neither out of fear, nor dislike but for the simple reason it felt good.
Raoul had left a mark on him, that was difficult to get off and Raven found himself losing his worth, the more so because the Blondie constantly rose in his esteem. He was elegant, refined and brilliant; occasionally Raven watched him, noticing small details about the man, like crinkles or the tightness of his mouth while thinking. Raoul never relaxed, not even whilst asleep. Upon noticing all this and Raoul's ambivalent treatment of him, he became more to the boy, than a captor – he became human.
It hadn't bothered him to be called 'pet'. The way Raoul said it was pleasing, inviting. He had liked to be hold by him.
Was he going to be feel as a pet?
It was a matter of pride ... He rued the day that he promised not to look for trouble but for some inexplicable reason he really didn't want to bring trouble upon the man.
Bemused, he failed to notice Raoul's early Return and was teared out of his thoughts by a gloved hand on his shoulder. Raoul had surprisingly high body-temperature.
“Someone might fall over you, Raven. Go sit on the sofa!”
Rolling his eyes, he tried to form a stingy reply. Who? Kyle? I hope he breaks his neck. It never left his mouth. Raven wanted to shout! He was longing for freedom but at the same time for Raoul. The cognition of how little was actually left of him was like a sore spot on his soul and it grew.
What have you done to me?
His mood going downhill rapidly, he barred his self in the safety of daydreams, while uneasy dreams filled his nights. More and more often a book lay near him, shelved, while the boy's mind rambled.
Raoul recognized the signs, but could - or wanted to - do nothing. Finally Raven worked out a plan, mostly to prove his stubborn will. After all, it was a matter of pride to show no surrender.
~~~
As Raoul's eyes regarded the words, he first stared blankly at the screen.
'I'm off to pay Katze a visit.'
He surely misread but Kyle's amused statement, “Silly little mongrel trying to piss you off.” confirmed him of what he was reluctant to believe.
'I'm off to pay Katze a visit.'
Raoul immediately got up from his desk, glaring daggers at Kyle. However tickled his fellow was, the note was evidence to a serious transgression; moreover a slap in the face – his face.
“I didn't think a mere mongrel could do that much.”
Given the security system was Kyle's department, his reaction was totally out of place. He could at least have the decency to be embarrassed, like Raoul was.
I should have known better. Katze surely didn't take him in for his looks.
Kyle immediately occupied Raoul's chair and activated the purchase logs. The Blondie was completely in his element, engrossing his mind with it's absurd reinvolvement. Whatever the mongrel did, rose consenting smiles from Kyle, who felt like having found a really worthy toy in the boy. The only problem was, it was not his toy.
“Raoul, would you mind selling him to me?”
“I'm not finished with him.”
This subject wasn't to bring up for a while. Kyle scrolled down the first log,
“I regret to say that, but we should be grateful to him.” He went on in a teasing manner, “He can help reprogramming the internal system.”
"I'm not in the mood for joking. Make Gabriel do it. He should be able to accomplish the task within three month.”
“If you don't object, I deal with the grid...” He sent several screen-shots as copies to his private mailbox. “You deal with your mongrel.”
'I'm off to pay Katze a visit.'
How very amusing.
~~~
On the run to Midas, Raoul went through a whole set of emotions and thoughts. If anyone had seen him like this, he may have been surprised because the Blondie was far from his usual composed state. He intended to err on the side of caution, not putting a ring on the mongrel but now, realizing his mistake, cursed himself for it. If Raven had run away, rather than pissing him off, he could have done absolutely nothing to get the boy back without inflicting serious damage to his name.
Unthinkable.
When he arrived at the depot past ten, Katze sat at his terminal, cigarette dangling from his mouth,
“He is at the receiving.”
The Blondie turned on his heels and hastened to the basement, that was empty but for the containers at this hour of the day. Seeing his Raven, climbing about them and typing into a hand-held unit, stopped him cold. The boy belonged here. He wore one of the blue overalls, like on the day they met. He looked content, his blue eyes sparkling in a way they hadn't for a while.
He has gotten taller.
Without acknowledging it to himself, Raoul's heart gave a leap. The boy was his and he was glad to have him back, though he was furious right now. Raven eventually realized him, murmured,
“Master is calling.”
“We leave!”
The boy locked the hand-held unit at it's docking station and followed without hesitation to the car outside.
“Why?”
“I go nuts without something to do.”
“That's hardly a reason.”
“You asked.”
“Don't take that tone with me. I won't allow any of my pets to kick over the traces.”
“Aren't you overdoing it?”
“Watch your mouth!”
Certainly Raven could have seen Raoul's knuckles turned white under the gloves, from their tight grip around the steering wheel, but he anyway realized just how furious the Blondie was and pressed himself without further argument into the seat, pouting.
~~
Kyle was still present in the penthouse, looking rather comfortable at Raoul's terminal. Janus on the other hand, standing next to him, was obviously in utter discomfort. He heaved a sigh of relief the instant he saw he master returning, and with Raven in tow.
“Welcome home Master, can I get you something?”
Kyle turned the swivel chair around, “Had some fun?”
Raoul's reprimand “Wipe that look off your face!” followed suit to the Raven's smirking but Kyle wasn't done 'playing'. He waved Raven nearer,
“Come here and I wipe it off for you.”
“Thank you for the offer, but I won't interfere with your work. You look quite busy.”
Janus rolled his eyes.
If he hadn't enough trouble.
Apparently Raoul was of the same mind, he took a firm grip on Raven's neck, “Get along with you.”
He pushed the mongrel in the direction of the pet's room but Kyle insisted,
“Wait a minute, my friend. Send him over here!”
A headache was imminent and that kind of conversation was not helping. Solely for the sake of peace and quiet Raoul gave in, pushing the boy towards the other Blondie. Today his furniture seemed to be the only one, caring for his needs. Janus took his outer garment and handed him a glass of water together with a mild painkiller,
“I prepared dinner, Master.”
Mutual understanding bridged for a single moment the gap between master and servant, when Kyle positioned the black mongrel on the armrest of his chair, presenting source codes to him,
“How about this?”
“Not bad, for a Blondie.”
Janus watched in amazement. Something felt terribly wrong here.
“You made quite a mess but I'm positive you will regret this.”
Kyle embraced Raven's hips in a possessing gesture, that sent Raoul over the edge,
“Enough already! Stop fucking around with my pet!”
Three pairs of eyes turned to the Blondie. Raoul freaking out meant BIG TROUBLE ahead.
“Janus bring Raven to his room and make sure you lock the door! You can serve dinner afterwards.”
Both mongrels hurried to obey, leaving without hesitation.
Maybe that wasn't so bright an idea, after all.
~
“You surprise me. Are you sure you want to keep the mongrel?”
Raoul's headache finally eased and he had taken seat at the rounded sofa, next to Kyle. He wasn't in the mood for talking about Raven but somewhere between the arrogance Kyle's voice showed a nod of real concern.
“You and Iason are so very alike. I wonder why you didn't come along.“
“Isn't that obvious? He was your first.”
“You are mistaken.”
~~~
“Katze, I expect you at five hundred.”
“Understood.”
Raoul, I wonder if you realize how similar your stile has gotten to Iason's lately.
He couldn't rid himself of the ill feeling, that neither business nor Iason would be today's topic today but he was late already, Raoul giving him no time to prepare for the 'meeting'. Soon afterwards he was led into Raoul's penthouse by Janus.
The Blondie settled on the rounded sofa in the main hall, dressed in a gray body-suit, covered by a green over-tunic. The furniture served drinks and backed away quietly. To Katze's wonderment, Raven was nowhere to be seen.
“I gave him time to revise his behavior.”
“What has he done this time?”
“I didn't provide him with opportunities for further transgressions.”
If the dealer's teint hadn't been as white as flour anyhow, he would have paled, knowing full well how badly Raven reacted to any sort of confinement. Out of an unusual sense of responsibility towards the boy, he dared asking,
“You don't have him under arrest since the incident?”
“Yes and I'm not bent in releasing him until the tower system is reprogrammed.”
Katze nervously drummed his fingers on his calves, being in dire need of a cigarette, “How long?”
“That's Kyle's business.”
“Raoul, the boy is probably out of his mind by now. He is overly responsive to isolation.”
“That's my business. I'm not about to discuss this further.”
Blondies. No way to talk him out of it.
“Why did you ask me to come?”
Raoul's action, pouring him a drink, suggested the talk would take some time and somehow Kaze did not feel well about it.
“I want a detailed report about Raven's skills. They are quite exceptional.”
“Truth be told, I haven't figured his limitations yet.“
“You did not educate him?”
Katze shook his head, „No. I was rather astounded myself, when I discovered his abilities. ... I never expected him to hack the tower system.”
“A little annoyance against a certain mongrel's crime.”
The dealer colored up, quickly averting his gaze.
“I'm glad you learned your lesson.”
The little furniture interrupted them, “I'm sorry, Master Raoul, Sir Kyle is calling.”
“Put him through in my private office!” He glanced back to Katze, “You may have a smoke.”
Janus joined Katze on the balcony and the elder one realized in private wonderment that the youth was nearly as tall as he himself. His facial expressions betrayed a self confidence, that wasn't there a minute before. The handsome furniture looked him directly in the eyes, lighting the cigarette for Katze.
“When it breaks through, he is like a firestorm hitting a lane of devastation.”
No question who was mean, Katze thought of Raven the very same way,
“He never does it on purpose.”
“I know ... You want to know where his exceptional skills come from?”
“Sure thing.”
“O.K. but I friendly advise you not to talk to Raoul about it.”
The 'friendly' sounded actually like, 'I will kick your ass, if you do!' but the dealer nodded agreement.
“You smoke like a chimney ... Raven and I were at the same time in Guardian.”
“He mentioned it.”
A bitter smile crossed Janus lips,
“I'm glad to hear I had an imprint on him as well. I have known him for five years when he managed to brake free.”
“He has quite a favor for sheering.”
“I guess he developed it in Soul's private wonderland. I did, afterwards he was replaced with me.”
Katze's eyes grew wide; developing a vague idea what the youth was talking about, not even the smoke in his mouth managed to cover the flavor of the suggested.
“Back then I spent plenty of time in plain view of the younger Soul's system. It kept me company for the bigger part of the day. Unfortunately I never managed to make sense of the codes, programs, files and whatnots as Raven for sure did. Without those skills I agreed easily to become a furniture.”
'When I'm through with you, you beg to become a furniture, little slut.'
Janus quickly shrugged the memory off. He locked gazes with Katze, blinking once and bringing to his mind, that his brain housed indeed a sharp mind behind his gray eyes.
“I'm pretty good at playing the dumb furniture, hm?”
Katze nodded, “Why did you tell me?”
“It was fitting. ... Only this time I'm going to be replaced.”
“Raoul sold you?”
“Yes, to ambassador Asgard. I don't understand why someone wants an Amoian furniture to rise their children. They will become totally sheepish or develop a superior complex.”
The dealer exhaled, “I'm positive you will prevent this.”
“Would you deliver a message to Raven?”
“Sure.”
“First, let him know I'm fine. Second ...“ He moved towards Katze, “this.”
Janus pulled him into a deep kiss, obviously not the furniture's first.
“The boy loves you, Katze. If you do too, take steps further or he might fell in love with Raoul. They somehow match. Anyway it's up to you.”
Right on cue the Blondie returned to the main hall and Janus rushed back in, the dealer right on his heels.
Perfect furniture, we both put on a good show.
It was the first time Katze talked to Janus and the last.
Weeks came and went and Raven still was confined to his room. It ate at him. He neither knew if it was day or night, nor what was going on outside. The room became a prison in a prison in which he paced restlessly, having lost all concept of time.
Sometimes he turned the lights on an off – over and over, eventually showered and slept. He slept on the floor, the bed, sitting against the wall – it made no difference to him.
The silence he hated the most. The mere sight of Raoul got him into a state of euphoria until again waves of depression washed over him. He daydreamed, ate little and begged more than once,
“Please, Raoul!”
Eventually reality faded in and out and the felt himself transformed into a sobbing wreck. Still nothing changed, except he fiddled around with the light control sobbing and had no longer use for silverware. Maybe didn't even know he had once.
Finally he gave up begging, eating, showering; his only activity was rocking himself back to sleep, as fast as he woke. He could no longer be called sane and Raoul could no longer ignore the mongrel's state of mind.
He peeked inside Raven's room and knelt silently on the floor, next to his pet, watching him in his uneasy sleep. Raoul touched his forehead and the boy immediately curled up,
“It's cold.”
When he put Raven into isolation, he fully intended to break the boy. His insolent behavior triggered a response, that resulted in a far more severe punishment, than the act itself deserved. Frustration and annoyance of years were directed against the boy, who had once more managed to remind Raoul of Riki – the undeniable source of his pain.
This isn't Riki.
Raoul recognized the sharp intellect and the sensuality behind Raven's midnight blue eyes and how close he had come to lose him. He whispered, “It's not.”, hoping for a reply but the broken shade of the boy didn't dare to contradict him. He simply pulled his legs closer, his eyes shining wet behind the long lashes.
What have I done?
Raoul couldn't help it; he leaned down to kiss him. Iason once told him, 'Even I am not immune to human feelings'. The same went for him but how to put that cognition?
~~
Raven woke slowly.
A dream?
The door stood open. Still, he did not dare to go out, huddling up in a corner, like a beaten dog. Only when the first rays of light peeked into the room, he lurked out, on trembling legs, not really registering, where his feet directed him.
Tears welled up in his eyes at the sight of the shining blue sky behind the windows, the clear intense blue turning out the boy's inner self. He fell to his knees and sobbed inconsolably, while Raoul watched the scene with mixed feelings.
I have gone to far.
The urge to reach out and comfort Raven was overwhelming, so he caressed his face and the mongrel actually turned his head - not to escape his touch but to push closer into his hand. It was not at all typical, touching yes but it made Raoul realize he didn't want this Raven to surrender, he wanted his Raven, even if stubborn, even if fighting him nails and toes. Everything but this.
“Dress, we have matters to attend to!”
~
He positioned the boy in the backseat and handed him a small pill. Like earlier, Raven took it without comment, being fest asleep before the air car reached his destiny. Raoul picked Katze up at the depot and the dealer drove the car to his hideout.
“Bring the boy!”
Katze's apartment could best be described as 'spartan'. Two sofas without a table, a large computer-terminal, a small kitchenette with an empty fridge and a second room with a bed and a closet.
The dealer rested Raven on one of the sofas, pulling some unruly bangs out of his face.
“He looks awful.”
“Come back in one hour and see to a driver!”
Raoul took his coat and gloves off while Katze left. He restrained his golden mane with a braid, eying the body on the sofa, that looked so fragile and so much smaller than he remembered.
Unruly black hair with blue shades under the light - attractive. The blue eyes were large and bright, when open; the lips full and sensuous, but even in the drug inducted slumber curved in anxiety.
“What have you done to me?”
Raoul sat down next to him and took the liberty of exploring Raven's body, sliding his fingers over the smooth skin under the tight shirt. The feeling of skin on skin – hot and warm – sent shivers down his spine.
He brushed a soft kiss over Raven's lips, before he attached the synchronization-units to the boy's and his own temples. The slender body tensed and bucked against him. Ragged gasps escaped Raven's throat, his eyes grew wide open but Raoul held his head in place. His heartbeat was almost parallel to Raven's when their eyes met.
Though he was oblivious to it, Raven reached out and touched Raoul's face in the moment in which their brainwaves synchronized, a single tear running down his cheek,
“So beautiful.”
Conditioning kicked in. Raven's mind answered Raoul's mental voice with a tempting clarity.
What a shame, if I wasted it.
Raoul was tempted to explore him as deep as possible but he resisted the urge to crack the built up defense. There were many secrets, hidden carefully, and lots of pain. He hit glances on several less guarded memories, each accompanied by a turmoil of emotions.
Raoul found the ones he was looking for and established a barrier of his own, not mentioned to shot the boy out, but to cut the emotional cord. In the same instant Raoul felt a presence brushing over his shield, carefully and gentle, seeking entrance. The boy's mind reached out to him. While his outstanding abilities provided him from being entered, it shocked him nontheless.
He broke the contact and produced a bracelet out of his pocket, which he put on Raven's left upper arm. The silver metal of the ring stood in odd contrast to the tanned skin but the blue carvings with Raoul's initials matched the color of his eyes perfectly.
Pleasant.
He got himself a glass of water and returned to his spot on the sofa, waiting for Raven to wake up. He was even more determined to keep him after the experience of his mental touch on him. Finally the mongrel's body stirred back to life.
“How do you feel?”
“Tired.”
“Good. Go back to sleep. We will talk later.”
He clenched his fingers around Raoul's when the Blondie stood up, whispering,
"Thank you."
