Ch. 5: Realizations
************************************************************************
Tasuki was back on Mt. Reikaku, at his favorite spot in
the woods. He used to come here
whenever he got stressed out and needing a break. It was beautiful break in the dense forest perfect for stargazing
or cloud watching. Above him, the stars
twinkled in the night sky. A warm wind
whipped around him soothingly.
‘How’d I get back here?’
Suzaku’s constellations brightened for a moment before
fading until only his and Tamahome’s were left. Those stars swirled and merged, brightening the whole sky.
Before he could question the sight, a sound drew his
attention. Someone else was there,
standing several feet away, also watching the strange display of the stars.
“Tama?”
Perplexed gray eyes met his own before being obscured by
red feathers drifting on the breeze…
Tasuki’s eyes shot open.
‘What was that all about?’ he thought.
It was light out, but still early. They wouldn’t be missed for a while yet. He relaxed back into Tamahome’s
embrace. He frowned. There was something really strange about
that dream…
“What’s wrong?” Tamahome asked, eyes still closed.
“Nothin’.” Just a
freakin’ weird dream.
“Yeah, me too. Why
did the stars change like that? And
what was with all the feathers?” asked Tamahome.
“How should I know?
I’ve never been good with all that ‘what do dreams mean’ crap!” Tasuki
snapped irritably.
All right, you don’t have to get all snippy on me!
“Hey, who’re ya callin’ snippy!”
“Huh? I didn’t say
you… were…”
Tasuki sat up slowly as they finally began to figure out
what was happening. “You didn’t say
that out loud, didja?”
“…No.”
“We had the same dream, didn’t we? And we can hear each other talk even when we’re not really
talkin’.”
“…I think so.”
Tasuki sat just sat there for a moment, staring off into
space until finally he spoke again.
“Ooookay,” he said slapping his hands on his thighs with finality before
getting up and collecting his clothes.
He was taking it calmly.
Too calmly. That made Tamahome
nervous. “Tasuki, where are you going?”
he asked cautiously.
“First I’m gonna get cleaned up. Then I’m gonna get dressed.
Then I’m gonna find the nosy monk ‘cause I’ll bet he knows somethin’
about this. Then I’ll turn him upside
down and shake his ass ‘til some answers fall out.”
That… actually sounded like a good idea. “Wait for me!”
************************************************************************
Tasuki stalked through the trees, determined to find the
enigmatic mage as Tamahome followed close behind. They eventually came across his hat and robe, but there was no
sign of Chichiri. So, naturally, Tasuki
picked up the hat and started yelling into it.
“Hey! I know yer in
there! I need ta talk to ya!” Tamahome just smacked his hand to his head
and groaned at Tasuki’s theatrics.
Annoyed at his lack of results thus far, Tasuki turned the hat upside down
and started shaking it as hard as he could.
“You can’t ignore me all day, I’m not goin’ away! Don’t make me flame you!!!”
Chichiri (who was just returning from getting breakfast)
arrived just in time to see his favorite hat being badly abused.
The mage silently debated whether he should let himself be
found or if he should just avoid the trouble all together. He knew the conversation was inevitable, but
he still felt guilty for not going against Taiitsukun’s orders and telling them
what he knew as soon as she told him.
After a moment, he sighed, deciding to get it over
with. Besides, it was his very
favorite hat, after all. “Looking for
me, no da?”
“As a matter of fact, yeah,” Tasuki said, turning to him and
tossing the hat over his shoulder. “Somethin’
weird’s been goin’ on since we got together and I think you know what it
is. Spill it or I’m gonna toast ya!”
Chichiri’s eyes narrowed in concentration as he looked
at them, examining their energies as only he could. After a moment, he smiled to himself. Before, their qi had been scrambled and fluctuating wildly. Now, not only were their energies balanced
and stable, they were identical. That
was… interesting. It was time to find
out exactly what they could do. “Fight
each other hand to hand.”
“What? No way!”
Tamahome protested. “We don’t have time
to spar right now, there’s too much to do, right Tas–” He broke off as he looked back at
Tasuki. The smirk and the wicked gleam
in his eyes said he was arguing a moot point: the temperamental bandit now had
an excuse to get into a fight.
Tasuki came at him with a well-aimed punch that he barely
managed to block. Tamahome countered by
leveling a kick to the bandit’s midsection, and the fight was on in earnest.
They were evenly matched as usual. Tamahome’s superior strength did him no good against Tasuki’s
natural speed. He dodged almost
everything Tamahome threw, and Tamahome blocked almost everything Tasuki threw
at him. Neither man was able to land
any significant hits until Tasuki finally got annoyed with the deadlock. He drew on his power and moved so fast
Tamahome didn’t even see that he was behind him until it was too late. “Block this!” he taunted and delivered a
punch that would catch Tamahome right in the gut. He saw Tamahome’s eyes widen as he realized that he couldn’t
block this one.
Then, something strange happened. Tasuki felt a tug on his powers, and Tamahome was just gone. The wayward punch connected with the trunk
of a tree instead.
He whipped around, staring at Tamahome as if he’d never seen
him before. Equally confused,
Tamahome’s mouth gaped wordlessly as he tried to figure out how he managed to
move so quickly, and failed. He turned
to the mage (who looked entirely too smug for his liking) and spluttered, “What
the hell just happened???”
Chichiri smiled, inscrutable as ever. “You tell me, no da!”
“I saw Tasuki coming at me and I knew I couldn’t move fast
enough to get out of the way. I thought
about moving as fast as I could, and all of a sudden power hit me and I
was out of the way.”
“So that’s what that was,” Tasuki said quietly, head down
and shoulders shaking. “You were able
ta move faster usin’ my speed.”
Tamahome turned to him, concerned. “Are you okay? Did it
hurt you or something?” He reached out
a hand, but it was smacked away. Tasuki
pointed an accusing finger at him and turned to Chichiri.
“Whaaaaat??!! How
come he can take power from me and I can’t take power from him?! That’s so unfair!!! Shouldn’t I be able ta spit fireballs out my
nose or lightnin’ outta my ass or whatever the hell he c’n do???”
Twin sweatdrops formed as Tasuki went into full pissed-off,
temper-tantrum mode.
“Umm… Tasuki-kun?”
Chichiri said, trying to get the bandit’s attention. “You can draw on Tamahome’s power, no da–”
“Hell yeah!” he crowed.
“–but I wouldn’t recommend it unless it was absolutely
necessary.”
“No way! Why the
hell not?!” he demanded indignantly.
Chichiri took off the mask.
“Uh-oh. That’s not a good sign,”
Tamahome muttered.
“When Taiitsukun gave Tamahome extra power, she also made
his body strong enough to handle it.
There’s no telling what might happen if that much power was channeled
through anyone else. You may not
survive it.”
“Aw, come on, that’s so unfair!” Tasuki whined.
“Tasuki,” Chichiri warned, “I’m serious.”
The redhead rolled his eyes and threw up his hands. “Fine, I get it. Damn. Well? How come we can do this stuff?”
The mage smiled slightly.
“Suzaku’s power comes from love.
That’s why our powers are beneficial, not just destructive like those of
the Seiryuu seishi. Because you two
love each other so much, he was able to bind you together. Now you’re strong enough to take them on
equally.
“This bond started forming on the ship, but it didn’t get a
chance to stabilize until now, which is why you two were so sick. In fact, I’ll bet it’s been trying to force
you two back together ever since, no da.”
“That’s putting it mildly,” Tamahome muttered thinking of
the frustrating ache of arousal that had become his constant companion over the
past few days.
“I’m sure there’s more to this bond than having your
energies linked, but that’s all I know about, no da.”
“Hang on a minute.
Are ya sayin’ that Suzaku made us fall in love and go through all this
just to give us a better chance ‘a summoning him?”
Chichiri shook his head.
“It’s nothing like that. Think
of it as a gift, or even a reward. This
bond is something he was able to give you because the love was already there.”
Tamahome’s eyes narrowed suspiciously. “You sure know an awful lot about this. How long have you known about–”
“Whoops!” Chichiri interrupted nervously, popping his mask
back on and picking up his hat. “Look
at the time, no da! We’ve got to be
leaving in a couple of hours and I promised to help load up supplies; gotta go,
na no da!” He disappeared into the hat
that promptly blew away in a convenient breeze, leaving Tasuki and Tamahome to
gape at an empty space.
“Did he just… run away?”
Tamahome asked, incredulous.
Tasuki huffed. “Of
course he did! Nosy monk finally got
caught red-handed not tellin’ us somethin’ we shoulda known about! I mean, he probably had a good reason fer
keepin’ quiet, but still…” he trailed off, lost in thought.
Tamahome’s mind was spinning. The thought of the bond growing between them thrilled him, but
Tasuki didn’t seem too happy about anything Chichiri had told them. Did he regret what had happened? The thought terrified him. “Tasuki?
Do you wish you hadn’t come to me on the ship? That none of this had happened?” he asked hesitantly, afraid of
hearing the answer.
Sadness-Rejection?-Alone again?
Tasuki’s head snapped up and he moved to wrap his arms
around Tamahome as he mentally kicked himself.
He was so busy with all the new information that he hadn’t thought about
what it actually meant. He concentrated
on letting Tamahome see what he was feeling.
Confusion-Love-Joy!
Tamahome breathed a small sigh of relief and some of the
tension left his body. “I lost
everything that really mattered to me.
I know it’s not fair for me to put this all on you, but you’re all I’ve
got left. I need you, but I know you
never asked for any of this. I’d
understand if–”
“Don’t. Don’t think
like that, Tama. Lean on me all ya need
to. This is the best thing that’s ever
happened ta me. All ‘a this ‘bond’
stuff may go way over my head, but I do know that I love ya, and that ain’t
gonna change. It’s just… I dunno how ta
talk ’bout feelings an’ stuff.” A
little more tension bled out of him.
Tasuki cupped Tamahome’s face in his hand and kissed him
softly. Gray eyes slid closed as he
melted into the kiss, but anxiety still flitted across their bond.
The redhead decided that they had at least enough time for
him to fix his fuck-up. He broke the
kiss and lowered himself to the ground drawing Tamahome with him. Gently, he urged the other man to lie back
in the grass.
Straddling him and leaning over, Tasuki lowered his lips
back to Tamahome’s. He moved slowly,
using his tongue to tease lightly before deepening the kiss.
While he had the other distracted, he unfastened Tamahome’s
coat and pulled up his shirt just enough to snake his hand underneath, loving
the moan the sensation caused. He loved
it so much, he decided he needed to hear more of it.
He broke the kiss once more, leaving Tamahome breathing
hard. He pulled his shirt up enough to
expose the well-muscled chest.
“Beautiful,” Tasuki breathed, causing Tamahome to blush.
Lowering his head, Tasuki flicked one nipple with his tongue
before latching onto it and worrying it gently. Tamahome hissed at the contact, which turned to a moan when a
hand slid into his pants and brushed lightly across the hardness it found
there.
He thrust up seeking more contact, but the bandit quickly
withdrew his hand, determined to take it slow.
“Tas,” he groaned huskily as Tasuki lavished attention on
his other nipple, slowly driving him crazy.
Finally, the redhead drew his tongue down the center of his
chest, down the plane of his stomach, pausing to dip into his bellybutton. Tasuki seemed to enjoy the quiver this
caused. He unfastened Tamahome’s pants
and pulled them down over his hips, exposing his perfect, weeping member.
Tasuki paused briefly, a little nervous about doing this for
the first time. With so much on the
line, he did not want to mess it up. He
wrapped a hand around the base of his lover’s cock and enveloped the head with
his mouth. He heard Tamahome’s breath
hitch and his body went still. He
circled it with his tongue before sliding his lips down and sucking.
Tamahome’s reaction to that was immediate. He cried out, a desperate sound, as his
hands flew up to tangle in the fiery locks.
His hips jerked upward, pumping into that delicious wet heat again and
again, hazily remembering not to go too deep.
For his part, Tasuki relaxed his mouth and throat as much as he could,
letting Tamahome fuck his mouth.
When he felt Tamahome nearing completion, he let his side of
their bond open completely, laying his soul bare.
Tamahome gasped in awe.
He was flooded with everything Tasuki was, and everything Tasuki felt
for him. Swept up in a tide of Passion-Strength-Caring-Support-Desire-Courage-Warmth-Devotion,
Tamahome realized what a small, insignificant word ‘love’ really was to
describe this overwhelming sensation.
He finally understood what Tasuki had been trying to tell
him. The bandit would never leave
him. Tasuki would do anything for him,
absolutely anything. Tamahome
shivered. It was a heady sensation, one
he swore to himself that he would never abuse.
Cherished in both body and soul, Tamahome shouted as he came
hard enough to see stars.
When he finally came back to himself, Tasuki was touching
his face oh, so gently. Those normally
fierce amber eyes had gone soft with tenderness. ‘Just for me,’ Tamahome thought.
‘Only for me.’
“Do ya get it now?” he whispered.
Tamahome smiled.
“Yeah, I get it.”
***********
Yeah, I know that Suzaku symbolizes the love between a man
and a woman, but come on. Does anyone
actually think he and Seiryuu don’t get it on in between priestesses? ~_^
To Tasukigirl78: Augh, okay, you win! I’ll get Miaka groveling. ~_^
Gimme a while to work up to it so I can make it really spectacular when
it happens. ^_^
To Yahnkehy: Yup, that’s exactly what I was goin’ for with
that lemon in the last chapter. For
one, I thought it fit, and for another, I’m just not that great at writing
detailed lemons. I’ll try my hand at
one later on, though.
