Stop Killing Everyone!

Riding on the back of Salamence, Avery was observing the Phobos Jet. “Strange… This is pretty well-built. I wonder what region they’re from.”

Floating alongside him was a strange man adorned in a lab coat and a pair of jet shoes. “Admiring my work?”

“Yes, it is quite lovely.” He nodded. “You see, my family has a history in aviation.”

“Where are you from, child?”

“Blackthorn, Johto.”

“Johto, you say.” The elder recalled. “Are you a Hasaki, then?”

“Yes… I’m Avery Hasaki.”

“What a coincidence…” The older trainer smiled. “My name is Avery as well. I am a general of the Phobos Battalion, as you may well see.”

“That’s disappointing…” The younger sighed. “Such a great mind of aviation having to work for a tyrant.”

“It’s a paycheck.” The elder shrugged. “And if I don’t, there will be hell to pay.”

“Sounds familiar. I have to protect Winona of Fortree, or her father will come out of hiding just to kick my ass.”

“But I guess that means you’re here to take my Pokemon.”

“That’s true… However, we can just pretend I wiped the floor with you, retreat to the larger base, and I put a word in for you with the Air Defence Force of your convenience.”

“That’s quite the offer… I can’t pass it up, even if it is false.”

“Wonderful. Now, I will be taking these balls and wait for our landing.”

The machinations arrived at almost the same time as Giovanni, Aria, and Avery appeared triumphantly. “So much for that.” The Aero leader brushed. “The idiot walked under the train.”

“The fool I was against lost balance and fell off the walker.” Giovanni smiled.

“Am I the only one that doesn’t kill his opponent?” Avery contested.

“Well…” A form appeared. “You could have failed miserably like your friends.”

“Who are you?” Aria charged as a small person on a hover-chair appeared.

“I am Baron Phobos, the leader of the Phobos Battalion.”

“Oh, so you’re the person I can address complaints?” Aria asked.

“Complaints?” He broke.

“Yes, about your General Buzz. He was a rather impolite and said some very uncomforting things about my gender.”

“I’m sorry to hear that, but I can’t do much about someone you killed.” He waived. “Now, are we going to address grievances, or are we going to have a decent discussion as adults?”

Avery glanced. “So, what’s your evil plan?”

“You see, I take the Pokemon I liberated and use their power to create a death beam to torch all that oppose me.”

Aria’s eyes brightened as she folded her hands together before her mouth. “I want one…”

“Interesting design…” Giovanni noted. “I would love a tour some day.”

Avery twitched. “Aria, you can have one later. Giovanni, you can salvage what’s left. And Phobos! You won’t be using that beam!”

“You seem serious…” The Baron paused. “Three on three battle. You each get two Pokemon while I have a full party of six. That sounds fair.”

Avery leered. “I summon Lapras!” The sea turtle appeared and let out a call.

Aria smiled. “Come on out, Pursian!”

Giovanni laughed with a sneer. “You two have good taste… Dragonair! Go!”

Phobos sighed. “That’s hardly fair… Three powerful Pokemon… I summon Metang, Heracross and Shellgon.”

“Lapras!” Avery called, “Ice Beam!” The aquatic monster charged a beam and sent the Shellgon flying. “This must be Prima’s…”

“Aero-Girl!” Giovanni called. “Pursian can use Aerial Ace!”

After watching the Heracross fall, Aria blinked. “How did you know that?”

“Dragonair, Fire Blast!” As the Metang fell, he answered. “Such a beautiful and powerful monster can only be mine. That actually was my first Pokemon.”

“You’re pretty good with my Dragonair…”

“Apparently there is at least one decent team leader in Hoenn.”

“I believe you’re ignoring me…” Phobos growled. “Alakazam! Machamp! Swellow!”

“Crap…” Avery growled. “It’s a trinity… But I have Swellow…” He produced a ball. “Go! Aerodactyl!”

“I believe it is time for a change…” Giovanni nodded. “Gengar! Shake things up!” The ghost appeared and snickered at the apparent foe.

“Then I’ll take care of Machamp!” Aria called… “I summon you, Crobat!”

“…Do you have ALL of my Pokemon?” Giovanni leered. “Shadow punch!” Alakazam fell quickly.

“Rock Slide!” Avery called as Swellow was hit hard.

While being distracted by the boulders, Aria took her turn. “Crobat! Aerial Ace!” With a swoop, the final Pokemon fell. “Game, set, match.”

“How could I lose?”

“First match…” Avery explained. “You had Steven’s Metang, Bugsy’s Heracross, and Drake’s Shellgon. Those are not primary Pokemon, and therefore fell to Prima’s Giovanni’s and Aria’s primary Pokemon.”

“The taste wasn’t bad for that one, because they were the Pokemon elites mostly…” Aria noted. “Sadly the next match was purely levels. Sabrina’s Alakazam isn’t fast enough to dodge a Gengar, especially Agatha’s. Chuck’s Machamp has zero defence, making it an easy target. Finally, Winny’s Swellow was a poor choice, especially since you didn’t take her trained shiny one. In short, you lost.”

“And now we bring you to justice…” Avery loomed.

“Can’t we just kill him?” Giovanni questioned. “He did piss us off.”

“We’re making ourselves look good today…” Aria warned. “Remember?”
